Moving

The two people that moved my sister in law were very good. their names were Taboris Thames and Darius Little. they did a very good job and were friendly and careful. THANK YOU GUYS VERY MUCH. They took time to put things where she wanted them and did not damage anything. Very professional in their job and will recommend this company to others. The price was very reasonable for the distance that they had to go.

Don't use this company.

Beyond angry! Quoted me an estimated time of 5 hour to complete a one-bedroom pack and move. Took the mores over 10 hours to pack and load -- not one box was labeled and they used my clothes to wrap fragile items! Took them another 10 hours to unload and damage most of the items! Couch completely destroyed (in pieces) along with damage to the new building. Multiple boxes, an end table, my Nintendo and various other items never showed up at all! Owner is unapologetic, rude and unwilling to negotiate a fair settlement.

You Move Me.

We recently experienced a move by You Move Me in Wisconsin. The 3 man team of Matt, Nick and Richard arrived promptly, took great care with all of our furniture and finished the job under estimate.  We were completely satisfied.  They could not have been any more efficient or polite. The key is to be prepared, well organized and ready.  We would be confident in recommending this company to family and friends without hesitation.

Broke the TV, ripped open a king size mattress.

We paid an exorbitant amount for full service, pack move unpack. The move was 1 hour away. After they left we found out broken items, cracked TV, and ripped open a $2000 mattress. Total damage over $5000. They even took an expensive computer screen, and didn't give it to us until few days later. At the end the manager, John Vandeberg, told us they can give us $147 for all damage, that is 60 cents per pound of things damaged. Total liars, deserved a police report for things they took. Don't get fooled by John's professional talk, he is a professional scammer.

Quality of movers.

This must be a different company from all the positive reviews I have seen. It was by far the worst move I have ever experienced. We were quoted a price with the promise of one day to pack and one day to move. What we received was a bill $1400 over quoted price and an incomplete job.

The workers showed up 30 minutes late each day, packed the first day for 6 hours, charged us more than the quoted price with the explanation they did extra to ensure the move the following day was faster. On moving day, it took them 12.5 hours to move us out and in to our new home. They were not finished until 1015pm and by that time, we just wanted them OUT of our house.

The following day, my husband went to our previous home and found many items that had not been moved; see attached pictures. When my husband called the company to inform them of missed items and asked when they would be able to finish the job, he was told “Well, we’ve already lost so much money on this job, I don’t know if we can get anyone out there”. This is the company you will be hiring; if you want a moving company that grossly underestimates time it takes to move, charges you for their miscalculations and does an incomplete job, this is the moving company for you. If you want a moving company that does the job right (heck even COMPLETE), this is NOT the company for you.

They are awful.

Quoted 1,000. By the time moving day arrived I had even less furniture so fully expected it to be even less. 2 bedroom home took them 10 hrs!! Meanwhile they totally damaged a new refrigerator. And they charged us 1700! Been working with a customer support person who is suppose to be getting a whole new front of refrigerator replaced and refund us the 700. Instead got 400. Stay clear if this company!

Horrible Experience.

I was shown an estimate on a phone belonging to one of the crew members, the morning of the move. This included packing help. It was estimated at 5-6 hours of service. I would be charged per hour. It ended up taking them a shocking 12 hours, and my bill was over 3k. I never would have agreed to this job had I known it would have taken 12 hours. You Move Me manipulated my entire moving process, causing my final bill to skyrocket. I believe they did this intentionally and that I was scammed.

You Move Me’s packing help involves crew members packing items into boxes and charging for each box supplied. Upon unpacking the next morning, I discovered that most of the boxes they charged me for were almost empty. Some boxes had only one small item in them. I believe they packed like this to steal even more money from me, using as many boxes as possible regardless of my actual need. The morning after the move, to my horror, I discovered the boxes were packed without care. Items inside were bent and crumpled.

Almost all fragile items inside boxes they packed were not secured or wrapped. Our new wood flooring was deeply scratched, a cabinet shelf was broken, our deck surface was scratched in multiple places, a door frame was damaged, both washer and dryer doors were scratched, our large antique mirror was shattered, collectors puzzle tins were dented and their contents mixed together inside of a cabinet. You Move Me’s packers were expected to pack the contents of all cabinets before moving them, but failed to do so. A side table that was not emptied by them had been packed upside down, damaging items inside and now the drawer will not shut. Various other items were damaged. I am devastated that items we took such good care of are now in terrible shape. Our new home does not look new anymore due to the crews’ negligence.

After 12 hours, I paid the bill and tipped the crew, which I seriously regret. I was not able to mentally process all of this situation until the morning after the move. The crew had left that night when it was already dark out, and I hadn’t yet discovered all of the damages or started to unpack. My boyfriend told me the following morning that he saw one of the crew members resting in the truck, and another who had cut his hand trying to work with one hand super slowly. One of them was video chatting with a friend; another texting constantly. I didn’t realize that the crew dragged out the time this way. I didn’t realize that we had been scammed, or the extent of the damages until that morning. I was still charged per worker, per hour, regardless of their speed or skill level.

I let You Move Me customer service know about the damages, lack of care, and overcharges for boxes. I provided many pictures. He assured me I’d be taken care of. I provided additional pictures and threatened to dispute my charge to VISA. He did not respond to this text. A week later I was contacted via email requesting I sign an agreement promising not to take further action on their company in return for 50 dollars and the replacement of 1 mirror. I responded that I would not be signing the agreement, and have not received any response from this employee or the company since.

I was taken advantage of. You Move Me did not perform to the quality promised on their contract, and charged me for what they didn’t earn. They delivered an abysmally inaccurate estimate, and have caused incredible hardship on me due to their extreme lack of care of my personal items.

Final Cost 2X Original Estimate.

Everything seemed to be in order at first. Delivery of boxes, a reasonable estimate, and even flexibility in change of dates were as promised. Moving day was a different experience altogether. I recieved a written estimate of $400. - 500. to move a one-bedroom apartment (with no bed involved) to another one-bedroom apartment 2 miles away. The move began at 1:00 PM, and upon conclusion at approx. 8:00 PM that evening, I was told that the longer duration was due to unusually slow-running elevators at the move-from location. I was then presented with a bill for $877.00, which was actually a summary of charges shown to me on a computer tablet which I was told to sign with my fingertip. After calling several times, and writing a detailed letter of complaint, I repeatedly was told that the extra time was due to the slow-running elevators in the move-from apartment building. My request to adjust the invoice by only $150.00 (of the almost 2X the estimate cost) was repeatedly rejected and untimately ignored. It should be clearly noted that the owner/operator/manager of the local franchise, Jim Gibson personally delivered the estimate, and again visited my apartment to drop off packing material. Before solidifying the estimate/agreement, he had personally visited my 5th floor apartment twice - riding the same elevators that would be involved in the move. At the time Jim mentioned that the estimate (highest-end of $494.00) may seem a little high, and was due to the elevators involved. I certainly didn't expect the final cost to be $383.00 above the higher-end of the estimate. Understanding that situations arise that cause final cost to exceed estimates, I asked for a refund of only $150.00 of the highly overcharged amount. I highly urge anyone considering moving with You Move Me (a subsidiary of Got Junk?), look elsewhere for much more fair practice in business and not fall victim to outrageously misleading, and lack of care as demonstrated by this franchised company. Perhaps they should stick with their original business of Junk, and not inflict such ill-willed and unsatisfactory service in an industry they are obviously unprepared to compete in a fair manner.

Bait and Switch at its finest.

I contacted this company 2 weeks ago for our move and got a somewhat high quote but I had so much else to deal with regarding the move that I just whent ahead and booked it. Thinking that a quote was somewhat of a contract for services I assumed that would be the price. Oh was I ever wrong. I was quoted aprox 1500 for the whole move. I agreed to that price and waited for the guys to show up. They showed up a few hours after I asked them to start but they called and the weather was bad so I understood. They began to pack up the house. Two Guys, one was obviously the supervisor and the other just worked. They got about half of my belongngs packed up because they forgot the dish boxes at the warehouse and they only were here for about 4.5 hours. I was presented with TODAYS invoice for over 1000.00 That is 300 more than the whole pack out was supposed to cost. I got on the phone with the GM and was told that the estimate on  by the call center is really just a rough estimate and not really binding on them. I told them that if it is going to be double at least what they quoted its their mistake not mine so now Im stuck having to pack most of my stuff and get it moved but still having to pay for services never received. Very unsatisfied with them and would never ever recommend them except perhaps to my ex wife. .

Cheating.

Cheating! I will never never recommend their service to anyone. Here is our story: My wife had contacted them, shared all our rooms (like Living room, 2-Bed room, Kitchen etc. Information), even shared the total number of boxes used during our last move which was some 1.5 Years before, and got an estimate of $700.00 -- 800.00; Well, the day the Movers came, inspected the whole house, confirmed and verbally shows they are with the estimate of 700 / 800 expense; Well, the final amount they charged: $1437.00!! Not even near there..Absolutely Frustrating with these people, it is PURE CHEATING!! We moved local, if that amount or even anything near was shared, I could have done myself as much as we could!! Never use their service, I burnt my fingers.
