Viking International Movers

Well, most importantly all of my stuff made it to me with very minimal damage or loss. I think in total they misplaced a power cord and a lamp was damaged. Not too bad for almost 4,000 miles. The guys that packed everything did a great job and the guys who unpacked it weren't bad either. Organizationally lacking though - I was not given advance notice when the stuff arrived so I had to leave work about an hour after I got there. Also, they did not communicate payment requirements and how they calculated the costs as I had a few surprises. I'm still waiting to hear back about what they will do about the lamp damage..

Move size: Studio Service cost: $2500

Having already moved from the UK to the US in 2014, we knew that the process could be stressful and expensive. We'd had problems with the original shipping company not delivering on time, and the removals company who were supposed to bring our stuff from the docks to us screwing up the delivery twice before finally delivering, and we then found the bed frame had broken in transport. So we were looking for a better assessment and company on the way back.

Our experience coming back was delightfully different. Viking were fantastic from beginning to end.

Joe spoke to me several times on the phone to take me through different aspects of the quote and what the process would involve. He was always polite, genial, and easy to get hold of. His time estimate was 6-10 weeks, but he explained what would influence it and what we should expect at each stage. In the end, it was nearer to 6 weeks than 10 and the delivery was dead on time on the day.

We booked the "fragile & furniture" service and the very pleasant gentleman came in on the day to carefully package all our wedding china, valuables, and furniture. He made sure that everything was well padded and had brought various special equipment to wrap things. His care was rewarded. Nothing broke or was damaged in transit. Everything arrived in perfect order. That included a saxophone, guitar, and a lot of delicate stereo equipment.

We never plan to move so far again, but we would heartily recommend Viking to anyone looking for excellent prices and wonderful service.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2300

I recently hired Viking International to move me and my family from Hoboken to our new home Auckland NZ. We called around a few other companies and got quotes. Viking wasn’t the cheapest or the most expensive - it came in at the middle around $12500 for everything. In the end we chose them for their great customer service reviews. They were professional every step of the way and made sure we had no worries. They delivered the container on time and a crew of 4 was packing the same day. We were very careful watching over them and my wife did some double checking to make sure that the valuables (we have some fine artwork and collectibles) were secure. The big thing for us was making sure that our belongings arrived before we did. I had to start work right away and we couldn’t afford a delay. I’ve read stories on here and other sites about people having to stay in hotels and buy new clothes because their stuff didn’t arrive on time. Viking gave us a delivery window of 2 days and we were happy that it arrived early on the first day. We were late from the airport so my mother-in-law met the agent at our new house. She supervised the move-in and said that everything went smooth. God help Viking if she got mad :) There was no damage other than some clothing got tossed around, but I figure this is to be expected when you ship things half way around the world. All in all we are thrilled. It was an easy move and we’re glad we chose Viking International.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $12585

I hired Viking because when [NAME EDIT] the owner came over to give me my quote, he seemed so nice and knowledgable, reassuring me that the company specialized in international moves and their service was the best. Sadly this was not the case. I moved from the NY area to Australia and having done this once before, I should have went back to the original moving company I used. For starters, my modest 3 bedroom home took 2 days to pack! What happens when a mansion is involved. Then they packed a live plant which was completey bewildering given their reputation in international moves, the workers should know that packing any agricultural material is an immediate red flag at quarantine in the next country. Needless to say, we were slapped with quarantine charges to destroy the plant once it arrived in Sydney. To make matters worse, we kept getting phone calls and emails about paying charges that were not disclosed upfront. After my things were delivered to our home, we noticed many issues with the packing. Items were thrown recklessly into boxes, causing damage. Furniture was scratched and dented. A very expensive lamp which I repeatedly asked be wrapped in a box or some kind of protection, arrived unwrapped. Even the movers in Australia were dumbfounded by this careless maneuver. [EDIT]. I would highly recommend staying away from this company. [EDIT].
