Viking International Movers

Having already moved from the UK to the US in 2014, we knew that the process could be stressful and expensive. We'd had problems with the original shipping company not delivering on time, and the removals company who were supposed to bring our stuff from the docks to us screwing up the delivery twice before finally delivering, and we then found the bed frame had broken in transport. So we were looking for a better assessment and company on the way back.

Our experience coming back was delightfully different. Viking were fantastic from beginning to end.

Joe spoke to me several times on the phone to take me through different aspects of the quote and what the process would involve. He was always polite, genial, and easy to get hold of. His time estimate was 6-10 weeks, but he explained what would influence it and what we should expect at each stage. In the end, it was nearer to 6 weeks than 10 and the delivery was dead on time on the day.

We booked the "fragile & furniture" service and the very pleasant gentleman came in on the day to carefully package all our wedding china, valuables, and furniture. He made sure that everything was well padded and had brought various special equipment to wrap things. His care was rewarded. Nothing broke or was damaged in transit. Everything arrived in perfect order. That included a saxophone, guitar, and a lot of delicate stereo equipment.

We never plan to move so far again, but we would heartily recommend Viking to anyone looking for excellent prices and wonderful service.

I recently hired Viking International to move me and my family from Hoboken to our new home Auckland NZ. We called around a few other companies and got quotes. Viking wasn’t the cheapest or the most expensive - it came in at the middle around $12500 for everything. In the end we chose them for their great customer service reviews. They were professional every step of the way and made sure we had no worries. They delivered the container on time and a crew of 4 was packing the same day. We were very careful watching over them and my wife did some double checking to make sure that the valuables (we have some fine artwork and collectibles) were secure. The big thing for us was making sure that our belongings arrived before we did. I had to start work right away and we couldn’t afford a delay. I’ve read stories on here and other sites about people having to stay in hotels and buy new clothes because their stuff didn’t arrive on time. Viking gave us a delivery window of 2 days and we were happy that it arrived early on the first day. We were late from the airport so my mother-in-law met the agent at our new house. She supervised the move-in and said that everything went smooth. God help Viking if she got mad :) There was no damage other than some clothing got tossed around, but I figure this is to be expected when you ship things half way around the world. All in all we are thrilled. It was an easy move and we’re glad we chose Viking International.

I hired Viking because when [NAME EDIT] the owner came over to give me my quote, he seemed so nice and knowledgable, reassuring me that the company specialized in international moves and their service was the best. Sadly this was not the case. I moved from the NY area to Australia and having done this once before, I should have went back to the original moving company I used. For starters, my modest 3 bedroom home took 2 days to pack! What happens when a mansion is involved. Then they packed a live plant which was completey bewildering given their reputation in international moves, the workers should know that packing any agricultural material is an immediate red flag at quarantine in the next country. Needless to say, we were slapped with quarantine charges to destroy the plant once it arrived in Sydney. To make matters worse, we kept getting phone calls and emails about paying charges that were not disclosed upfront. After my things were delivered to our home, we noticed many issues with the packing. Items were thrown recklessly into boxes, causing damage. Furniture was scratched and dented. A very expensive lamp which I repeatedly asked be wrapped in a box or some kind of protection, arrived unwrapped. Even the movers in Australia were dumbfounded by this careless maneuver. [EDIT]. I would highly recommend staying away from this company. [EDIT].

The staff at Viking International are very knowledgeable and experienced. When I contacted them I spoke with John regarding a small move to Sweden. I was given a reasonable estimate and very kind with all the questions I had on what to expect. When it came to moving day all movers the were very nice as well and handled all of my belongings with care. They were very understanding and packed a few valuable items extra carefully upon my request. I received my container a few days earlier than expected which was definitely a huge plus. Movers in Stockholm were also very nice and careful with my belongings. After unpacking everything there wasn’t a scratch or any sort of damage to be found. I highly recommend to anyone.

We chose Viking International, after getting several quotes from other companies, and Viking was one of the best-rated companies we could find. The quote was not a low-not too high.They were very professional, always prompt with their answers.

We were packed small items in few boxes.The packing of the furniture and household items and the loading of the container was done in half a day by very oganized team of Viking staff. For us it was very important to move boxes out on time, because we lived in the big building and one of elevators were scheduled for that day. Everything was organized and done on time. All items arrived in good shape, nothing was damaged or broken.Container arived in 8 weeks as we are told.

Professionals in a business full of amateurs! I don't mean to be blunt but I came across so many companies that were advertising international shipping that haven't done no more than 3 international moves in a year. I realize it's a rarity that people don't usually ask for but if I'm going to use a service and pay thousands I want to pay for experience!! And that is precisely what Viking demonstrated during my move to Paris. They handled every detail of the move. They kept their promises on price and the ETA. They made a move that felt very tricky much more manageable. Kudos to the whole staff here, especially the movers. You all did an awesome job. Zero damage, Zero headaches.

I used Viking after two separate friends recommended their services. John was incredibly courteous and professional over the phone and walked me through the process and exactly what I would need to pay, and responded quickly to follow-up questions sent via email. The team that came to our house to do the move were very flexible with our schedule and equally courteous and professional. (We had about 30 boxes to move, including 11 of books, and they had it all cleared out in about 15 minutes!) Handover between Viking and the European carrier was seamless and everything arrived in great condition (including breakables). Would highly recommend!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1300

We moved from New York City to Hong Kong. Our shipment was collected back on Nov 25, 2020. It's now nearly the end of February 2021 and it's STILL not arrived in HK. Initially John was very helpful with our first enquiry and the process for collecting our furniture but once the shipment has left the U.S. Viking is not interested in following up. The local agent here in HK has no idea on when our shipment will arrive. So far it has been delayed four times. Be extremely careful when using Viking to fully understand the collection date, versus when it will be loaded on a ship. Also be sure to ask the route and whether it's a direct shipment or via another port (further unloading/re-loading which adds delays). Ships are like aircraft, operators don't send them half full as it's not profitable, so they have to wait to fully load a ship before it's released for its voyage. Overall we are quite disappointed with Viking International Movers and would not recommend them to a colleague or friend.

After deciding to sell our NJ home last year (2020), we used Viking to move the last items we left behind in our basement to our home in Germany. They were able to coordinate over email and the phone with us (as we couldn't easily travel back to the US). And then promptly collected our items, safely packed and prepared them for their overseas journey. Given the mess that global shipping is currently in due to the pandemic we were pleased with the reasonable price and time frame Viking provided. It did take several months for the items to arrive but everything made it here nicely packed and the movers were able to wheel it directly into our storage unit without any issue. Joe and John were a pleasure to work with and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. If you do have significant time constraints and concerns you may want to get several options - but Viking provided excellent service at a reasonable price given our time frame and needs.

Outstanding team of professionals here at Viking. I used them recently for a move from NY to Berlin. John and Joe were my main contacts and were great to work with. They gave me a very reasonable estimate and worked me through the entire process. I was very worried about some very valuable items but I was assured that everything will arrive in perfect condition and on time. They sent a team of very nice movers a few days later who packed all of our belongs nice and safely. We received all of our items in Berlin as expected and everything was without a scratch! Movers in Berlin were also a very nice team. I would recommend using Viking to anyone! No regrets!

Our experience with Viking was wonderful. Everything went like it was supposed to for our pick-up, the cost was exactly what was quoted, and all of our possessions arrived intact. Nothing, not one single item, was damaged or broken. John at Viking was great and the packing crew was professional and thoughtful. I had packed some family artwork, but they re-packed it all with special materials to prevent possible moisture damage while at sea in the container. It's a good thing they did, as everything sat in our sometimes-damp, older home in France for almost a year due to COVID travel restrictions. Now that we have opened everything, it's clear how the extra care Viking took really paid off, especially under the unexpected circumstances caused by the pandemic. We will certainly be using Viking again for our next shipment!

I was dreading moving my son's furniture and belongs overseas to the UK. Fortunately, Alex at Viking International was skillful, patient and reassuring. He led us through the process with a deft hand. And the movers were wonderful, both in the US and the UK. I still can't believe the move took place with such ease. But I'm well aware that it was as smooth as it was because of all the professional help we received from Alex, and the entire team. (We needed a lot of help, and we got it, and I'm very grateful).

My mom and dad went home to my mom's native  Spain when my dad retired.  As soon as they told me about the move, I started looking for a moving company: you see, my mom has a little clothing business, and didn't want to leave it behind. After asking around, I was referred to Viking International Moving. I asked them some quick questions, and the guy on the phone (John) explained everything, and was super nice about it. He was confident, professional, and helpful. We went with them, everything went perfectly fine, and my mom received all her items undamaged. This place really knows how to treat their customers. I'm just sorry that I don't have more work for them

From the week before our move until today a little over a year later Viking International has been nothing but a problem and a regret.

My husband and I initially went with them because of the affordable quote and ease at which we seemed to navigate the process with them until it all fell apart.

We had told them that our building in NYC had to have insurance for the movers and for a very specific time to be selected for the elevators to be used because of the size of the apartment building we were in and two days before their scheduled arrival they called to change both the day and the time also adding that they wouldn’t know the exact time they’d be at our apt. After a few incredibly snarky phone calls they recommitted to the date originally planned and a specific time.

Before hand they said it was best they pack all our belongings as it was an international shipment, they were professional packers and as they were packing would make a detailed list of what was in each box.

Let me tell you the list was non existent leading to huge problems with customs months later and it is a scam to get you to pay more. Their idea of packing was putting one metal chair in a giant box with a bunch of paper hence our original square foot estimate went up 2xs more, plus we had to pay for all the extra packing materials. At the same time we were required to get an insurance policy that would cover all our belongings as per usual I assume. We mentioned we had a few pieces of expensive art and a statue which we mentioned in phone calls in emails and our detailed itemized list of belongings and they told us it would all be covered and packed professionally.

Only for all of it to finally arrive months later in Europe and a sculpture was pulled out of a box broken. The packers on this side noted the break took photos and reported it on their end. But Viking refused to acknowledge the incident. As we continued looking into getting it fixed and filing a claim it turns out they sold us an insurance claim that not only doesn’t cover all our art and the sculpture it also didn’t cover our 60inchTV, glass dining table or any of our glassware. What!?????? So we paid for a policy that didn’t cover anything we discussed with them and now they not only won’t acknowledge that they’re faulty packing and our broken sculpture but their complicity in selling us a bogus policy.

Our quote went from 5k to 12k by the time we got our things no joke and every step along the way there were problems and tense conversations with the rude owner and his employees.

They had guaranteed they knew exactly what was required from us to ship our things to Portugal but neglected the fact that even after I asked about it twice we needed specific documentation for customs with detailed descriptions of all items in every box which as you now know wasn’t done.

It’s a year later and we are still fighting with them to get our claim acknowledged.

The company, the price, the snarky rude employees, lack of professionalism and lies leads me to tell you emphatically, DO NOT USE VIKING INTERNATIONAL MOVERS, do your research.

I was pretty nervous about my moving situation back to Germany. Because there are a lot of black sheeps when it comes to international moving business, especially in NYC. The moment I met Alex from Viking. I knew I had the right guy. He answered all my questions and it felt like he was available 24/7 there for me. He had to work from home because he was sick with the coronavirus. Even then he gave his best. If I ever have to move something from NYC or the US. Alex will be my man. Thank you very much Alex. Finally, I have to say. The whole team was highly professional. I met the owner of the company, and he knows his business really well.

At the end it was a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Thank very much Alex and the whole Viking Team. It was pleasure doing business with you.

I recently moved to Denmark from USA and needed an international mover. Viking International was the. company that offered a price that I could afford. The people I was talking to where great with responding to questions and made everything easy to understand. The guys who picked up my things were in a great mood, took good care with my things as well as being careful moving things through my home. The company that Viking internation works with in Europe to bring things through customs and bring it to its final destination is also a great company and quick to respond to questions as well. It did take 15 weeks for my things to arrive. But considering what is going on in Europe and post covid it was to be expected and I was pre warned. But all arrived in one piece including all the tech things I shipped as well. I am very happy with the service I received. And I will recommend Viking international to anyone who is looking to make an international move.

My family used Viking this summer for our relocation to Warsaw. Pleasantly surprised with how everything turned out since our previous move turned into a disaster. John was a real nice person when I first inquired about the move. Everything was explained in full detail. We were given a pretty fair estimate. After some more shopping around we felt most comfortable with Viking. When moving day arrived their well mannered and professional movers packed our 2 bedroom in Brooklyn. They were very cautious and made sure everything was well packed. There weren't any issues receiving our container overseas. Arrived within expected time. No damage what so ever. Highly recommend.

Amazing professionals who quickly grasp your needs, starting from the initial assessment and paperwork with Amirah, all the way through the team securely packing one’s belongings, this has been an easy, quick, clean and straightforward process. Get the worry and pain of moving out of your way and trust Viking International, these guys are true pros and at the end, you’ll be friends with them. Highly recommend!!

I initially was cautious due to a few other reviews BUT the service provided by Joe and Jon was great. Viking were on time, communicative, helpful and every item I shipped from NYC to London arrived in the time frame given,for the amount quoted to me and, was well wrapped, labelled, itemised and in perfect condition. Their UK partners were also amazing and beyond helpful when everything arrived at my home. I wrote them a personal thank you after the job was completed and highly recommend this company.
