Best Moving Experience.

I had to move from an apartment to a house a couple miles away (LA to San Fran). My grandma was sick, and needed some extra help to be able to stay in her home. I used United to help me move my stuff. They were very courteous, and gave me a quote so I knew how much it was going to be up front. The movers that came were very gentle with my stuff, and everything arrived at my grandma's quickly, and unbroken. Overall I am very happy with my experience with United and I would go to them again the next time I need to move. I highly recommend!

Settlement for damages.

It's been 16 months now since United Transportation moved my items, and I am still trying to settle this horrible experience with them. I received an email from Mr. John Anderson, Manager, who said he wanted to reach out to me to settle this issue of lost items, damaged items, stolen items and the deliberate break in and damage to my Antique Slot Machine.

Unfortunately, we were not able to agree on a fair settlement.

I guess if you don't do things their way and agree with what they want, you are out of luck. It's their way or no way. What a way to do business. The one mistake I made was not checking on their reviews. The outcome would have been so different if I did take the time to check their reviews.

Never in my life, with my many moves, have I experienced such a nightmare with a moving company.

Amazing Service!

United Transportation Moving & Storage is incredible. I was so impressed with the level of service and professionalism at every point of contact. The booking agent who took an inventory and asked important questions was courteous. The dispatcher was friendly and respectful of my time on moving day. The moving team was quick, eager to assist, and incredibly professional. Most importantly, the movers were able to problem solve, which meant less work and hassle for me. After a very efficient and seamless move, the actual cost of the move was below the estimated cost so I saved money! I highly recommend this service to anyone. Thank you  United Transportation Moving!

Positive Experience.

I've used many moving services before but none measure up to United Transportation's Moving and storage. They are so professional. All of my belongings got to their destination on time. The price was unbeatable and there weren't any hidden fees, everything that was discussed up front stayed that way. They treated my things as if they were there own. Everything was carefully put in the back of their truck and everything arrived in the same condition. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is moving in or out of the Califonia area. They were a pleasure to work with.

Long-distance move from Iowa to Colorado

Good Team that Knows What to Do.

The crew and truck pulled up. They started packing and getting my items ready to put in the truck. They took care with all my cherished antiques from my great grandparents. They were friendly and efficient. They listened to my concerns and reassured me that nothing was going to happen to my things during the move. I had to catch my flight to visit a friend while they did all the packing moving and unloading the truck. When I got home I had to unpack some boxes, but they had unwrapped the furniture and larger items. They even put the washer and dryer in the basement for me. Great team and worth the money!!

Long-distance move from Arizona to Hawaii

Awful!

Seriously possibly the works experience I have ever had! I wish I could give them 0 stars. This company is filled with a bunch of shady characters with no moral compass. The "sales woman" Barbara called me  and said they had an empty truck going to Hawaii and would do the move for half the price if I agreed to pack up my entire house in 2 days, she insisted the even the movers would help me pack. I didn't agree right away, and was called at least 3 more times. Finally I agreed, and didn't sleep for two days getting all my things ready. The driver and movers arrived, and clearly were just sub contracted hires. They first huffed and puffed about having to help me wrap up the big items, then they tried to make me pay extra for some old blankets they used. They ended up using my boxes that I had to go buy and my blankets and towels. Once they got everything packed up, they all of a sudden got a call from the office stating that the boss never agreed to the discount Barbara gave me and they would need to un pack the entire truck. I got on the phone with Roger- their dispatcher and he proceeded to yell at me and tell me I was a fool if I went with any one else, and that he would be firing Barabara for giving me such a price.. After a long back and forth,  I was worn down and just agreed to the new pricing. They were also supposed to take my car. What they don't tell you is that that contract is with a sister company, who also subcontracts with 3 other small business. They stole goods out of our car as well.Once we got to Hawaii, my things were supposed to arrive the week I got there. They never did. I proceeded for 2 MONTHS, to call the office every other day or so. I got every story under the sun, I got yelled at by their rude employees, and got lied to several times. Finally 2 months later, I call again, and I am told that my things had been on port for 3 WEEKS!! 3 WEEKS!! They did not inform me of this because their subcontractor driver would not deliver or less it was worth his while and he had more deliveries to make. So my stuff was just going to sit their until they were good and ready to deliver! Ridiculous! So of course at this point, I just wanted my stuff. They would not give me the lading number for me to go pick it up myself until I paid them in FULL!! Even though they did not provide the service. I had to pay them in FULL, rent a Uhaul and go get my things myself. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Long-distance move from California to Indiana

Excellent Moving Experience.

I hired United Transportation Moving & Storage to move me from LA to Indianapolis. the office staff was very thorough and professional. The movers showed up on time and had my home packed up in a matter of hours. They were organized & used extreme care when moving my items. All of my items arrived in Indiana on time and they unpacked everything and nothing was damaged at all. The price was very reasonable and I couldn't have asked for a better moving experience.

Stay Away From Them.

Parties I have spoken to and their positions:Kim Waters, Sales RepBarbara, Sales ManagerRoger, Dispatch ManagerSpoke with Kim Waters on 3/25/15 in developing an estimate for a 6/15 move from AZ to HI.All belongings were fully packed by 5/31 allowing for a final and accurate estimate prior to the movers scheduled visit on 6/1 in the morning. On revised estimates rate per cf changed and increases unexpectedly to $8.95/per cf from $8.20 estimate on 6/1 creating a difference of $155.25. I advised Kim of this mistake and it was pushed off with, oh it was a mistake system error there is nothing I can do. This was the beginning of many future discrepancies and calculations in the financial favor of the moving company.5/31 at 9:25AMI receive a voice mail to call Dispatch. Called back and spoke to Roger that advised there was no way they would be showing up on Monday as agreed weeks prior. Was not given a reason why at the time. Delivery was set up for Tuesday morning which was ok since I was off that day. Although, I advised I would now have to incur rental fees from my landlord and contact all my utilities (Electric, Gas, Phone/Internet) that were shutting off Monday June 1st. Huge inconvenience and financial loss!I contacted Kim to ask her what was going on with my June 1st move. She said she knew nothing about delay. I get an email (no call) from Kim at 2:01PMsaying: "The dispatcher is telling me there's no way he can make the original date of pick up, but my supervisor wants you to provide a list of the charges you're going to incur for the change of date."On 5/31 at 4:46PMI email a list of costs I will incur on a daily basis each day I'm there beyond June 1st. $40/day (guessed) although my landlord texted me later for $50/day plus $5/day electric. I also convey Tuesday is the last day it will work and pray it happens and asked for a guarantee from them. At that time I also ask why things fell through as I'm still left in the dark.6/1 at 8:43AMKim emails me a long email saying the truck has emergency repairs. And more realistic time to expect them was 12 - 2p on 6/2 but they may arrive earlier. She said: "I can, however, confirm that they will be ready and present on Tuesday. Thank you for providing a list of your expenses. I will forward them to my supervisor."Email sent 6/1 at 12:07pI send her a revised final detailed accurate list of new costs I have to cover due to this delay. Includes the following: Rental $50/day, Electric $5/day, Phone/internet $3/day, Food $25/day. Also sent her the text screen capture proof from my landlord asking for $50/day.I'm contacted again by the Dispatcher in the afternoon saying Tuesday is not going to happen either. At this time I share this delay will cost me more than the daily expenses shared prior as Wednesday was my busiest day of meetings and business that I could not and would not be able to cancel. I conveyed it had to be 6am or 7am pickup and I must leave by 9:30a and no later. Roger the Dispatch Manager guaranteed a 7am pick up or he would take$500.00 off my estimate. In addition the expenses that a new person, Rob (another manager) approved, I was advised by Kim to contact him to follow up on those expenses. After three calls throughout the day and no Rob to speak with I gave up and hoped for the best. I was now transferred to a new sales rep or Manager Barbara, to handle my account since Kim kept changing values in the estimates causing costs to continue to go up and discrepancies in the favor of United.6/2/15 at 5:56PMI'm advised by Dispatch Manager that Wednesday is not going happen at 7AM and expect some time in the afternoon, maybe 3 or 4PM. As you can imagine I regurgitated the above dialogue about the time it must be and the guarantee that was given. Roger ignored that and laughed about it continually saying they will be there in that afternoon, I guarantee it bla bla bla. After some time on the phone and the same no big deal attitude about the third delay I lose it and say I'm done!  I can't possibly trust any of your words or guarantees. I contact one other mover I  had considered some time back (sadly they are not much better in the integrity and honesty department). One hour later my phone is ringing non stop from United--I do not take the calls.6/2/15 at 7:52PMI get a text (first ever) from Roger/Dispatch Manager (818-462-3177) saying he spoke with his manager (hmmm who is that??) and they'll pick up at 1PM and extend discount of $110.00 on my move. The other mover (fyi: is a sub-contractor for United and 100% independent) agreed to pick up next day at 10am. They showed up at 9:45AM and handled everything. That was the best part of their service to date. (but of course it was, they were not United Moving employees). The new mover cost me hundreds of dollars more then United bid and mystery credits for inconvenience. The delay and change of servicer cost me over $600.00 anxiety and stress that is beyond these words.I still yet to get back my $200 deposit which they are denying my refund claim with my credit card company.

Long-distance move from Oregon to Iowa

Do not use.

United Transportation Moving & Storage was used for my daughter's move from Oregon to Iowa.  This was a rather small move, with the original estimate at just over $1000.  Two days prior to the scheduled pickup, United contacted us to state that they would be picking up a day early.  When I protested, I was told the change was due to a truck inspection.  I agreed to allow United to pick up items the evening prior to the scheduled move.  That afternoon, they called to postpone pickup until the morning of the original move date.  They arrived around 2:00pm, and loaded all items.  After all items were loaded on the Enterprise rented truck, the crew informed my daughter that the shipment was over the estimated volume, and presented her with a new contract with additional charges for the increased volume.  This is a clear violation of federal law, as the bill of lading clearly state that changes must take place prior to loading or otherwise beginning the job.     I attempted to contact the moving company the day after pickup on my daughter's behalf, but there was no answer (it was a Saturday).  On the following Monday, I contacted United with my complaint regarding the charges.  My complaint was handled by Kim, who was very nice, quite professional, and in general quite helpful.  Unfortunately, Kim had no authority for decision making, and supervisors with that authority were unwilling to speak with me by telephone.  Numerous telephone calls regarding the extra charges ensued over the next few days due to United being unwilling to respond to my complaints in a timely fashion.  In one situation, I was told that a supervisor was simply tired of hearing about my complaints and didn't want to deal with me that day.     United refused to honor the original binding estimate, but after several telephone calls ultimately adjusted the amount due on delivery downward from the price given at pickup.  Granted, the extra charges amounted to a few hundred dollars, instead of the thousands that many report here.  However, the financial portion was only part of the issue, as my trust of this company was irrevocably broken.     Because of that violation of trust, I was suspicious that United would tack on extra charges at the time of delivery, most likely long carry charges.  I discussed this with Kim.  She in turn spoke with a supervisor who agreed that 175ft of carry was included in the moving costs.  I measured the distance from the street to the entrance of my daughter's apartment at 100ft, utilizing a metal tape measure.     We were informed that delivery of goods would take place on a Saturday, but no phone call came.  The next day, household items were delivered.  As expected, the driver assessed a long carry charge of $75.  My daughter, desperately wanting her items (and having now read other reviews on this site), simply paid it.  After the items were safely delivered (and without breakage, I might add), I called Kim to protest the long carry charges.  Kim stated that the driver told her the carry was 400ft.  I pointed out to Kim that I had measured the distance myself, and that 400ft was inaccurate.  After discussing this issue with Kim over the telephone, United agreed to refund $35 of the long carry charges.  Again, I will admit the financial issue is minimal, but at some point principle and honesty become the largest issue.  This was one of those times.     I notified Kim during my dispute that I would be passing this information on to federal regulators and the Better Business Bureau, which I have done.  While I am thankful that Kim was able to be professional with me, if possible, I would give United ZERO starts as I believe they are a deliberately dishonest company that finds every possible way to add costs to a move.  They also have an extremely rude dispatcher.  Yes, they will have your lowest bid.  No, don't believe it.  Do not use their services under any circumstances.
