U Pack

We ordered our cube 6 weeks before we planned to move our daughter, threedays prior to her move they sent an email saying they don't service our area. We called three different locations for them to say we called the wrong number and to call back but don't push any buttons. Finally talked to somebody and they are sorry but they don't check to make sure they can provide service until three days prior to the cube arriving. So an easy move for my daughter turned into me taking a day off work to load her stuff into a u-haul and drive 150 miles to unload it into a cube. Waited around for half an hour for them to even get the cube so we could even load it. Unorganized company and will tell everybody not to use them. Can't wait to see how it gets delivered. Hope they get the right state for dropoff. Completely disappointed.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2200

This service is fine if you (i) have sufficient road access and parking space at loading and unloading points to accommodate a full-size semi- truck; (ii) are strong, healthy and handy enough to manhandle the cumbersome bulkheads into place after loading and removing them before unloading; (iii) have a sufficiently flexible schedule (and persons you’ve recruited to help unload with equally flexible schedules) so as not to be inconvenienced by substantial delivery delays (mine was roughly a week after the estimated date) and the inability of the “customer support” people to predict actual delivery date/time until a few hours before delivery. I will say the drivers, both at loading and unloading, were friendly and helpful.

Notwithstanding their marketing slogans (“Quick, convenient option that makes long-distance moving easy”, ”Access to exceptional customer support”, “Fast, easy service exactly how you want it”), it seems to me that their business model is to optimize the extra space on their trucks, thereby earning additional revenue without extra effort on their part. If I were to move again I would never use this organization.

I lived on the narrowest street in Lakewood, OH, the truck driver was awesome, definitely great at his job. Dave the scheduler was organized and on top things, I also hired Zooming Movers to help me load the truck, I can’t say enough about how helpful and hardworking Rain and Jordan C. Were. I would recommend these guys to everyone. Prices were extremely reasonable for the work done and would have been happy to pay double for the assistance given by Rain and Jordan C. Great Job by everyone. Very happy customer!

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3000

If I could give them a 10 star I would. Moved from Ca to FL. Moving is very stressful but UPack made it oh so much better. They were up front about the time line for the trailer to get here and to my surprise it came early. Everything went smooth, customer service was great!!! I cant say enough about UPack. We had no damage on anything. Pack it right and you will have no problems. Thank you UPack for everything and making this move as easy as possible. I honestly cant say enough about this company. It was very hard to put my trust in something that had everything we owned and going across country but from the beginning i was reassured that my stuff would make it. I definitely recommend UPack to everyone that is moving. They gave us more than enough time to unload the trailer it was nice seeing that it was just myself and my husband to unloaded it. Again Thank you Thank you!!! UPACK IS AWESOME!!

My husband and I just used UPack for a cross-state move. It is beyond frustrating that UPack does not operate on weekends. The delivery of our belongings was already running late. Then, on the day of scheduled delivery, we were called by the distribution center and were informed that their one and only forklift was broken. They could not give us any kind of time estimate for it to get repaired and apparently the last time this had happened, the delivery center was out of commission for 3 days. We ended up having to spend an additional $850 to have local movers drive to the distribution center, unload our relo cubes, reload them into a truck, and finally drive to our home and unload our belongings. Once our stuff was delivered, we found our tv had been shattered. Will NEVER be using UPack again.

Can I give more than 5 stars? I cannot say enough good things about U-Pack and ABF Freight! I'm a numbers person and ran the numbers for several different options for our long-distance move. U-Pack was the most cost efficient option...but the care and customer service was out of this world. I was nervous about the move, but every person I talked to was reassuring and patient with me. Wonderful experience! The drop-off and pick-up drivers were friendly and helpful. (Terry, the pizza was awesome! Thanks for the tip.) I was able to track our trailer every step of the way. If you are planning a long-distance move, U-Pack is the only way to go.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5280

I pre-paid UPack $6,743 (including $450 storage) for 3 Cubes to move from Reno, NV to Austin, TX. UPack was the most affordable option and promised to meet my moving timeline as the estimated timeframe for delivery was 9-6 business days and I was going to start the drive to Austin a couple days after pick up. The cubes picked up from my home in Reno on 1/13/22, which made the estimated delivery dates between 1/24-1/26. It spent weeks sitting in Reno—never leaving its initial destination. I called and asked for a new timeline and refund for at least the storage. I received $450 since I would no longer need storage, but I never received updates on my shipment. When my items arrived in Austin on 2/11/22, no one let me know. I called for that information. I needed to travel for work 2/14-2/18 but if I did not receive my delivery by 2/18 they would start to charge me for storage. I changed my whole business trip to make it home on time to accommodate the extremely inconvenient delivery window of 9-5 on a work day, but due to travel I made it home around 11. Turned out I had missed some calls for delivery (I have no missed calls). I received an email about the situation and was told that I would be charged $150 for U-Pack’s inconvenience. I have been living out of a suitcase for over a month, bought toiletries, trach cans, etc for trying to live semi-comfortably in my empty home, but at the slightest inconvenience to U-Pack I am being charged. This is beyond unacceptable. The poor communication, the constant un-met deadlines and the quickness to charge their customers is deplorable. I paid U-Pack for a specific service level and made financial decisions based on that commitment, which was never met. As a result, I am requesting compensation of $500 for every business day the truck was late ($800 total) and a refund of the ridiculous $150 charge ($150’s the cost of 1month storage—an outrageous fee to place on a missed call!).

From beginning to end, UPack representatives in person or over the phone, in all parts of the country were knowledgeable, conscientious, friendly and correct with estimates, timing, procedure and especially patience. They treated us like family in our move from Virginia to Arkansas. They worked with us during inclement weather forecasts and possible delays. I never worried about the shipment. It arrived on time and in one piece. The trick to working with such a tall trailer is filling it high and tight and tying off every layer, which is something my hired help did not do after prompting to do so, resulting in a disastrous shift of cargo -- NOT UPACK'S FAULT. Use this company with the right moving team from the start and it's a win-win for everyone. Highly recommended and would do it again.
