Long-distance move from Edmonton, AB to Charlottetown, PE

True Maple Moving Negative Review.

I hired true maple moving to move me from Edmonton to Prince Edward Island. I had everything perfectly packed in boxes in one room to make it easy for the movers. I had maybe 5 belongings that were very important pictures/decor that could not fit in boxes and I asked them to bubble wrap them when they arrived including a large $200 mirror. All of the decor/belongings were completely damaged in the move and “breakable” was completely disregarded. Things were bent in half and the mirror is 100% gone. When I called and put through my claim the lady was nice and took my information. 4 weeks later I never herd from them. I called for an update and they were extremely rude saying my claim for damages was declined and I will be receiving nothing. To top it off they estimated the move would be $1000 and it ended up costing me $1900 and everything was damaged, the attitude the company gave me when I called made me feel as if my things were damaged on purpose. I had complained that the movers were unable to communicate English with me during the move. I would NOT recommend these movers if you have good quality furniture and belongings. They even took permanent marker and wrote numbers on my sons toys and belongings.

Don't waste your money on this company.

All you need to know about this company is, they don't care about you, they don't care about your belongings, they just want your money.
Here is what you can expect with using these movers,
- extremely questionable business practices, bad manners, no customer service and extremely negligent and un-cooperative staff.
- offered a quote from Emily with the first $450 waived and fixed rate, they said the would honor this quote, they didn't.
- don't pay a deposit it secures nothing, we paid $200 to secure our place on an express service, they just didn't include us on that shipment or tell us that they hadn't. When questioned apparently the deposit secured nothing, and we can't get it back.
- overweighed and overcharged and we had a fight on our hands to correct this, this is a cash grab be very careful, they don't want to deal with correcting it.
- issued invoice with 3,240lbs, our weight was in fact 1,940lbs, a difference for almost 1,300lbs, over charged by several hundred dollars and they don't care!
- re-weigh options were completely unaccommodating, drive seven hours to witness it take place in Edmonton as they were changing trucks at a cost to ourselves,
or
pay the invoice with 3,240 lbs and let them weigh it in Calgary and then trust that they will reimburse us so pay the incorrect amount and then if it's wrong they will reimburse us. Absolutely no attempt to do the right thing by the customer and get it right before payment, and all with a rude, dismissive attitude.
- we incurred all the cost of having to attend this weigh in, $130 and they will not reimburse, even though it is their error, their negligence and we have to pay to monitor their every move.
- our stuff arrives a week late, we are on an air mattress, do they care, no!! We had a fishing rod snapped at the base of the pole, and then stuffed in a golf bag and taped. That is what they did with a fishing rod, good luck if you have collectibles!
- Stephen was management and unfortunately displayed all the same unprofessional as Emily, when we disputed our weight. It became clear this company was a bad choice. Our shipment was now at the mercy of these guys and he did agree to a re-weigh free of charge, but only after we requested it anyway. The re-weigh is at a cost to you, so this is also a deterrent, we were almost deterred, but we knew it wasn't right and we are glad we did.
The lack of honesty and regard for the customer and the neglect of our belongings was very evident in our interactions with this company. They left us feeling like we had to witness the re-weigh, thankfully we did, and still we have been left with no acknowledgement of their complete insolence and terrible business practices, please do not waste your money. According to Stephen "I just want to get money back", no Stephen I what I wanted, was to have my shipment brought from Toronto to Calgary at the correct cost to me and with a careful, conscientious work attitude from you.

Moving.

We chose True Maple Moving to transport our household goods from Thunder Bay to Toronto. Our sales representative did not miss his interest until the job was completed. At a very affordable cost in today's conditions, they carried our items in the agreed conditions and delivered it exactly at the time we wanted. The moving staff were very tidy, attentive and organized. We are extremely pleased with all the relevant, economical, meticulous and timely shipping services. Thank you for being there for us.

Moving.

We moved from Montreal to Toronto with True Maple Moving. They carefully packed all of our belongings and carried our furniture very carefully. Although the weather conditions were very poor on the day we moved, none of our belongings got wet and were not damaged. Many thanks to True Maple Moving team. We definitely recommend. They moved our house with no problem.

Would give 0 stars if I could.

Booked with Emily who we were told was the moving coordinator. Found out she is a glorified salesperson. Broke them through my husbands work. Was told they would not subcontract. Got a call the day before the move. They couldn’t make it. The truck that showed up the next day was a subcontractor with a too small truck. They also showed up at 1 pm to load a four bedroom , 1 office full double garage and 2 shed house. They knew there was still stuff to pack. Was promised a double crew plus packers. 3 men showed up and they didn’t even know they were supposed to pack. Of course not all the stuff fit in the truck. All afternoon they told us there was another truck. At 10 pm when the truck was full we asked where the other truck was. They told us they never said there was another truck. They told my husband a truck would arrive the next morning. We waited for a truck. My husband called. They said it was on its way at 9 am. It arrived at 7:30 pm. We were supposed to be out of the house by noon that day and we told them that. Finally they were done loading at 8:30 pm. Because they brought a too small truck we had to get a hotel room, we were also late signing papers for our new house so we were penalized. We were told we would get our stuff between the 5th and 12 th of July. When it never arrived we phoned. They laughed at us and told us we would get it when we got it. Phoned again. We were told the 20th. Never showed. Then we were told the 30th. Never showed. Then was told Aug 3. Never showed. It finally showed on Aug 4. We were charged for a king size mattress cover. They used a queen and left half the mattress out. Was charged for 6 wardrobes. 3 of them were not filled with hanging clothes but a mix of stuff. None of the boxes they packed were labeled. And it is a mix of stuff from several different rooms. Very rude movers and all the staff. Buyer beware. And they also have changed their name 3 times already so don’t hire a mover out of Mississauga Ontario.

False Promises from True Maple: Unprofessional and Fraudulent.

I booked pick up and paid the $200 deposit. They said they would arrive at 4 pm Friday (the company called and the movers themselves, the day of the move and confirmed that they would be there at 4 pm for pickup). They never showed up, they never called, and they didn't answer the phone. I had to find another company in a pinch. They said they refunded the $200 after over 50 frantic calls. On three separate occasions, different employees processed by refund: it's been a week and a half and I still don't have my money back. They seem nice when you talk to them, but this company is fraudulent, unprofessional, and inconsiderate!

Worst moving company I have ever had.

200 deposit ensure nothing, they change pick up time 3 times in a roll and then ask us to get things ready in 2 hours. Then when we wait for the driver, he didn’t show up after 3 hours. We called and they told us the driver never be here and won’t come then send our deposit back. Their staff who make calls is very rude. Don’t use their service for god sake.

Long-distance move from Barrie, ON to Saskatoon, SK

Barrie ON to Saskatoon, SK move.

I had the worst experience with this moving company. They picked up our stuff at the end of May with the promise to be in Saskatoon by the end of June or the first week of July. With many stalling lame excuses, eg. “we gave you a good rate”, “our driver had to leave mid way for an emergency”..I understand that I was offered a good rate and people could get emergencies, but this was not professional as it wasn’t communicated to me when I signed up with the company that true maple is a consolidating company, that they need “enough shipment” to go to a particular destination. They also apparently relied on a very few drivers at the expense of waiting customers. I was super frustrated with them especially that I already paid in FULL, before even receiving my stuff. I never delayed paying them, but somehow they had no issue delaying my shipment. It took me calling multiple times to get an update about my shipment status.
I am not one to write such an extensive review, but I am so annoyed with the lack of professionalism and honesty I received from this company.
I found it convenient that they put Emily at front, who is very nice and welcoming so you feel compelled to join the company. But then they don’t communicate anything to you via email, and mostly you feel in the dark about the location of your stuff or their in route destination. You can, however, get a hold of the company by calling, but that way, there is no record of them delaying your shipment.
Anyhow, I guess this company might make more sense to use for movers in Ontario as their trips I would imagine be more frequent. I would never recommend this company to move outside of Ontario AT ALL.

* one star because I have no other choice, it’s for Emily I guess.

International move from Fairport, NY to Edmonton, AB

Do not hire this company, terrible service, and verbally abusive.

The only part of this move that went well was that the truck arrived at my residence on the day it was supposed to, and the movers put everything in the truck and left on time. They were pleasant. When I tried to find out when the shipment would be delivered, it was another story. While I understand that it takes some time to get across Canada (from upstate New York to Edmonton), every time I spoke to dispatch I had a different story as to where the shipment was, and the "possible" delivery date. After waiting 5 weeks, I was told it was in Edmonton, but that they had other deliveries to make first, and so it was it was put off a couple more days. I requested that they move up my delivery, and the verbal abuse I received on the phone was unlike anything I have ever experienced. When I asked for it to be put in storage, I was told "there is no storage in Edmonton". How is storage in the contract then? More verbal abuse followed in a separate phone call. When I took delivery of the shipment, the mover tracked mud all over the carpets. Things were dirty, and damaged. I did some more extensive research on this company since this experience, and have discovered that it changes its name and opens under a new one after it gets a certain number of bad reviews. Just don't hire them. They don't deserve even one star.

Worst nightmare.

If you hate yourself go for true maple otherwise pay a little more and get someone reliable and by the way they will charge you the extra amount, Basically initially they will show they are going to charge less than competitors once they pick up your stuff from one place magically your stuff will weigh more and won't be delivered until you pay more. But the worst thing is the time delay they said they will take 2-3 weeks from Canada to US and delivered after 6th week. During 6th week when we called them to enquire about the stuff Stephen got abusive, made fun and extremely unprofessional said I don't care about your living conditions/costs I will cancel the deal/delivery if you will call to enquire about your stuff. Emily is also a liar. Upon reviewing other reviews I noted this is their modus operandi they had to change company's name multiple times in the past due to poor reviews and unprofessional attitude and abusive language and charging more by increasing the weight. Reza the guy who delivered stuff finally, admitted this is how true maple "works" and that's how Stephen talks after they have picked up the stuff.

Service failure.

On May 15 I hired this company by email for Moving from Calgary, AB to British Columbia on July 30 and was given a pick-up time 10:00am. I paid $200 security deposit and got a confirmation. On July 4 I updated Emily by email with my delivery address and another phone number. I arranged the elevator and landlord meeting. On July 30 The truck didn't appear and when I called them about 10:30 am they started looking for my information and confirmed it after an hour of waiting. Then they gave me another time for picking up my belongings from 7 to 9 pm. By the agreement with my landlord I have to move out before 4 pm. However he allowed me to accept this time of moving out and managed to transfer the elevator booking for those time as well. And again, no truck showed up, no even single phone call. When I called nobody picked up. I never expected to be set up with the province-to-province moving. My belongings are still at my landlord's place and he can just throw them away. He actually sold this 2-bedroom apartment and have a duty to clean it up and give away to the buyer, but cannot do it because of my belongings.

Long-distance move from Manitoba to Ontario

Do not recommend.

Worst experience with movers I have ever had. Did a move from Winnipeg to GTA end of March. Movers showed up almost 2 hours late and then took way longer than they should have to load my belongings. They didn’t use floor protection though it is listed as included in the cost of the move, resulting in wet muddy wood floors. They also didn’t bring any tools to help me take apart bed frames and what not, also listed as included in move. I had to open my boxes looking for my own tools and take everything apart myself. As a result of the move taking way longer than it should have I almost missed my flight, didn’t have time to clean the house properly before leaving and had to pay for a flight back again the next week to finish up. Also, the paper work/record of belongings was not ready for me to sign when I left and somehow went missing. I was then charged an extra 60$ on the bill for packing though I had done all the packing myself (in all fairness when I asked about this it was removed). It took a number of calls to speak with the owner Brian about these issues and he wouldn’t even offer an apology. He even went as far as to accuse me of being insincere. The move was supposed to include 6 weeks of free storage but I did not trust the company to leave my belongings with them that long so ended up unloading early and storing them myself until my place was available. I had a number of broken items, very obviously broken during the move and again no apologies. I just finally moved my things out of storage the last week and my TV is missing. I emailed the company and didn’t get a response back.

I will note, the two gentlemen who dropped my belongings off were very pleasant, hard working and did a great job.

Don’t waste your money or add more stress to your move.

Be aware, stay away!

My partner and I chose True Maple for our move from Nova Scotia to Calgary. Everything was alright until we arrived in Alberta and called for an update to confirm the date that we had booked with Emily for delivery of our belongings. This date was booked almost a month in advance, and I had also emailed Emily to confirm that everything was still on track just a few days prior.

I spoke with Brian and he simply laughed at me when I told him that we had a delivery date scheduled. He claimed that our belongings were not yet in Alberta and continued to belittle me, saying that I didn't seem to understand. He then told me that customers cannot book a delivery date/time, that's not how this works. Brian then went on to start yelling and laughing at me. I've worked in customer service for most of my life and have never once treated a customer this way. My mind was blown. I eventually hung up on him because I was getting absolutely not respect or answers.

From there, we decided to research this company a little further. We found that the owner, Riza Yalcin, has had several moving companies in the GTA area. Once they receive so many bad reviews, complaints, etc., they simply re-name the company. See the links below to see his previous moving companies.

We eventually received our belongings, a week later than originally scheduled. There was clearly no care for our things, many things were damaged and the boxes looked like they had been thrown around several times. I requested a copy of the scale ticket. They showed me a ticket with absolutely no proof that it was our belongings. I personally believe our belongings did not weigh as much as they claim. The original quote was much less.

We have e-mailed the company with photos of the damaged items, and a long e-mail detailing all of our concerns. This was over a month ago and we have not heard anything back from them.

Please, take your business elsewhere. You don't need this stress and frustration.

Do Not do it.

I have no doubt the the positive reviews on this company are written by them. This company was scheduled to move me on August 14th from one house to another within the same city. I paid the $200 deposit and took my furniture apart in preparation. I had to call the day before to find out what time, as they did not reach out to me. I was told between 2 and 4 pm. The day of the move, I called the company at 4pm, since I did not hear anything until then. I was told the time had been switched to 6-7pm. When I expressed frustration, they told me that these things happen and there is nothing they can do. I got a call from the mover around 6, saying that the time has to be moved to 7:30-8:00pm. The mover said that three men will help us move, instead of 2, to make up for the time difference. At 8:00 pm I received a text message saying that my move has been cancelled. When trying to call the mover, he did not answer and then turned his phone off. This last minute cancellation was very unprofessional, anxiety provoking and caused us to have to find a place to stay for the night. The company did refund me my money, however, I would not recommend working with this company, based on how unprofessional they were.

Moving in province.

Booked move 1 month in advance for July 24th. The morning before the move received email reminding us that the move was the next day. Later that same day - around noon - I was called and told that our move for the next day had to be delayed for a day. I expressed that this was extremely inconvenient as my wife and I had both booked off the day from work. When my wife phoned the company back they were extremely rude and unprofessional to her. We cancelled their services and found a better company. It was extremely stressful finding a new moving company at the last minute but it was worth it as we knew that we could not trust this company. The only positive in the whole experience is that they did refund our deposit.

Absolute Trash!! Dont Move With Scammers!

- Be aware of this disgusting and unprofessional company that goes by multiple names Provincial Movers, True Maple Moving, Transnational Moving Systems, and Nexus Express Movers; all of which have F rating at Better Business Bureau and are under the same owner Riza Yalcin.
- Booked my move two months in advance and regularly checked and called about my reservation. A day before they were scheduled to pick up my stuff, I was expecting a call from them but didn't receive one. So, I gave them a call and they tell me that there is "No reservation and that they didn't receive my security deposit". I told them that I have proof of the transaction and would send it to their accounting department while on the call with them. The agent called me a liar, said I was harassing him and other employees, told me to find a new company, and closed the phone in my face.
- I had a flight to catch 2 days after the scheduled pick up time and my lease was up. Accordingly, finding a new moving company that would be able to take my stuff on time was IMPOSSIBLE! Once they saw the security deposit confirmation, they said that they would pick up my stuff (but obviously LATE!). This costed me A LOT! as I had to arrange UBox delivery and get movers to put my stuff in Uboxes, was fined by the condo I was staying at for having a UBox on premise and charged for the drop off (I had to catch my flight).
- They didn't send me a bill once they picked up the stuff and didn't give me a delivery time.
- I was sent an invoice 5 mins before the delivery truck came and was expected to pay. I was charged a rate that was NOT agreed to and the bill had a weight that was OUTRAGEOUS (above) to what they moved.
- I asked for a re-weigh and they refused. I asked for a copy of the scale invoice and they refused. They said I had to pay in full first. Once I paid, they sent a copy of an old scale invoice.
- They delivered my stuff 2 weeks late, billed me for unnecessary things, made me pay for THEIR STUPID MISTAKES, and were extremely challenging to deal with.

In summary, AVOID THESE CROOKS!

Horrible experience!

I recently used True Maple Moving for my move and had many issues that I am still working to resolve 8 weeks later.

We were charged for items being packed and when asked what was packed they couldn't even answer as they did not know and nothing had been packed by their movers.

The delivery was 2 weeks later then the original date given to us.

After receiving our items we noticed that there were many items damaged such as furniture and boxes that were crushed due to them stacking heavier items on top of lighter ones.

Upon opening all our boxes we noticed we were also missing items.

We made a claim with the company for the lost and damaged items and were told it would be resolved within 2-8 weeks. And have heard nothing and when we call to get it resolved the reception is very rude and ignorant on the phone.

We paid an obscene amount of money to have our items professionally delivered and handled and our items were treated with zero respect and we continue to be treated with zero respect by the company.

I’ll quote their employee directly here “1 in 6 moves goes badly like this.” Emily was helpful setting up the details and taking my deposit but was unhelpful afterwards and very slow to respond giving multiple excuses every time. Had to call their employees/dispatch myself to arrange for delivery. I was told my items would be delivered three times by their employee Michael and when the date passes they don’t have courtesy to tell you, but they’ll use many excuses and blame others every time. Do Not Reccomend.

If you like lack of communication, broken belongings, extremely rude staff and last minute hidden costs, use true maple moving!
I moved from Alberta to Ontario. When I was getting my quote they were the nicest people, as soon as I agreed to go with them and signed the dotted line, they turned into jerks who didn't care at all. I was told I would be given 24 hrs notice of pick up time and I had to call them cause it was the night before pick up and I hadn't heard from them , only to find out they were going to be late a day.. maybe call me and tell me that? Then anytime I called to check on my delivery they were rude, wouldn't let me speak, and had no answers, lots of " I dunno " and " I don't know what to tell ya" then when they finally arrived ( again I had to call them to check in because they didn't give me notice ) the movers themselves were very very rude. They couldn't find parking close enough to my building so they charged me an extra $100 and then because it didn't have an elevator they charged me another $100 for one flight of stairs. At this point I had already paid over $1,600 for my tiny one bedroom apartment of stuff. Then when they opened the truck with my stuff, everything was thrown in. Boxes on their sides, my TV was standing on ONE of the corners. Not laying flat. Not sitting up straight. Thrown into the truck like nothing. When they moved it in, I noticed one of the legs was broken off, I mentioned it to the mover and he said " oh, that's not our fault" I asked how could that possibly not be your fault? This was smothered in $50 of bubble wrap, you would literally have to throw this in order to break it, and he just shrugged at me and walked out of the room. Then unpacking my stuff later that day I see that the heavy duty plastic container that had my dishes in it, layers and layers of bubble wrap and everything also wrapped individually, container and some dishes were broken. It was even marked " Dishes, breakable" and it looked like it was again, just thrown around. The truck had zero organization. They stuff as much as they can to get as much money as they can and nothing is handled with care. The company completely ruined my moving experince. As soon as they left I just sat in my apartment and cried. Between how overly rude they were and knowing that they aren't going to do anything about the broken items and the extra $230 that I didn't budget for, I was at my limit. Don't have your move end up like mine. Don't use true maple moving.

Friendly reminder to avoid this company.

It has been 6 months since we made the mistake of going with True Maple moving for our move from Nova Scotia to Alberta and we have not had any resolution to the terrible service they provided.

Our things were late, the staff were incredibly unprofessional and the majority of our belongings and furniture were damaged in the move.

We had everything packed in totes and bubble wrap and it is pretty evident things were thrown around without care. Expensive furniture was written on with black sharpies, antique items covered directly in duct tape, anything with a corner on it was smashed. A bookshelf had a fist sized hole through it and the tops of everything was scratched.

I'm writing this reminder because I have recently unpacked my Christmas decorations and they are all smashed, everything needs to be replaced. Many of them were of sentimental value and again were clearly marked and packed properly. Even large metal pieces were completely warped and bent, which leaves me the impression the totes etc were thrown haphazardly.

The company has been contacted repeatedly for compensation and they are immediately unreachable once you pay.

Please don't make the same mistake we made by hiring this company because they are slightly cheaper. We paid much more replacing our broken items than we would have just paying a reputable company.

As mentioned in the comments below: this company has a long history of providing sub-standard moving services and once they have so many complaints against them, they open under a new name. Look them up on Better Business Bureau.

Horrific experience.

This is an absolutely disgusting company! If zero stars was an option, you bet I would select it. I recently moved from Halifax to Calgary with True Maple. Their terms and conditions effectively state that they are not in any way responsible for any of your goods. They do not share their binding contract and terms and conditions until they have your good in their possession - by which time it was too late to do anything. They were already late on their pick up, resulting in me having to delay my move. They make zero attempt to protect any of your furniture - despite assurances that they would. They were super responsive until they have your business, and then they completely ignore you. When I filed a claim for the damage done to my goods - along with clear evidence that my goods were manhandled -they stated that the damage was below my deductible and according to their terms and conditions they are not responsible. There wasn't even an apology or acknowledgement of the $100s of damage they had caused. I will do everything in my power to ensure that nobody I know is ever taken advantage of by this company - it is absolutely criminal.

They have no regard for customer service within this company. I was a fairly small moving job and they had no regard for when I would receive my belongings. Absolutely Disgraceful Company.

I wish I had paid attention to the previous reviews before I decided to use this company.

My items were collected in Toronto on Feb 7th and I was told by Emily delivery would be 10 - 14 days.

I arrived in Vancouver on Feb 18th and had a scheduled delivery with True maple on this date. I called them as nobody from their company had reached out to confirm delivery time. They let me know my items had been delayed another 7- 10 days.

I was literally stuck in Vancouver without a bed, sofa, pots/pans, cutlery, clothes etc.

Long story short - my items did not arrive until March 19th. Over 1 month late.

I had to re - purchase so many items just to survive which completely defeated the purpose of using a moving company. It also left me out of pocket.

The company do not give one crap about you once they have your money. Steve who is the dispatch manager is nothing short of a scumbag. He laughed down the phone and hung up when I called for an update. Again I had read this in previous reviews and should have paid attention.

I never write negative reviews but this time I feel this needs to be seen before anyone makes the mistake of using this company again. Pay a little extra money and use a reputable moving company.

Do NOT hire this company.

Total rip off. Hidden charges. Wood and glass furniture only covered if paying hefty fee per piece of furniture. Then they refused to unload truck at the new location unless another huge deposit was made. Three men took their sweet time so the cost was way beyond original quote. Called office mid-day to complain and there was absolutely no negotiating. Told pay up or lose your truck load of stuff.
