Long Distance move New York to South Carolina

Words can not describe how BAD this company is!!!! Our belongings were picked up December 23, 2021 and it is now March 10, 2022. WE HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED OUR BELONGINGS!!! We did not read reviews of this company and that was a HUGE mistake. PLEASE read reviews and do not use Tri-State Movers! We didn't read reviews because they sound so professional, friendly and best prices in this current market. "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" and with Tri-State you will end up with NOTHING! We have started small claims proceedings but a court can not help us replace all the memories that are lost on Tri-States' truck. My husband lost his mother in May (COVID) and I lost my mother in August (cancer). Now those precious FAMILY belongings and memories are lost and can not be replaced! My heart is broken

Bad choice in moving company!!!!

The move took place on 1/28/22 and was to be delivered on

1/28/22 On 1/31/20, I received a call from the company advising me that I needed to pay an additional $820.21 for additional cubic feet used in the truck and if I did not give cash or wire the money, they would not deliver my personal belongings. I had the price of $2,037.00, which was confirmed with everything that was being moved. When the drivers showed up, they smelled like marijuana, which made me and my family very uncomfortable . My neighbors witnessed them dropping things out of the truck. Many of my boxes were opened, broken and things were not the way I packed them. The movers brought a furniture blanket in with some kitchen items. I found when I opened the wardrobe boxes, many things were missing. The couch was torn in all corners and wet in many spots. All of my

furniture damaged on all corners, chipped wood and dented. My couch was ripped on the corners and was wet. The office desk was missing the bottom parts so the desk is unusable. The Weber grill was bent on both ends and dented. The bedroom furniture was damaged all over and the hope chest corners were destroyed. An antique telephone table is damaged on all sides. The trundle bed spring support was broken. The Coffee table and end table was scratched and wood missing. The Nespresso machine's water tank and frother was broken. I am still missing

many things that I cannot replace. My plastic bins labelled

"Bathroom" were taped before they did the move and when they arrived. The tape was gone and prescription medications were gone and there were Christmas items in that bin with bathroom items. This company also charged my credit card $2,038.00 after I paid them with a bank check, which I am disputing the charge. The company will not respond to me.

I truly regret using this company and wish I saw reviews prior to this move!!!

The Worse Experience in Customer Service

I had major surgery before this move Rich was notified about this procedure and the help i would need to move to my new home . Well with that said , I needed to not only hire a moving company I needed to hire someone on the other side to receive the furniture and boxes . SO CONSIDER THIS DOUBLE THE EXPENSE. Rich very pleasant! BUT now let’s go to moving day , time slot given , we’ll time now continued to move forward NO PHONE CALLS NO UPDATES ! I then continued to call the office not only once but approximately 20 times Now MEET LINDA ! RUDE RUDE RUDE !!! No phone call back. time keeps getting changed not one call from driver NOTHING !!!! So now keep in mind I’m paying someone to sit at the new house ! The obnoxious girl on the other end who told me she would be in contact with me and there is nothing she can do but her guys work till midnight!!! Bull! Well as of 9 pm still no call and still no one showed up ! Now i had to be out of my old place that night SO now I’m not only paying the people at the other house i get charged two extra days for still being in the old place ! This is Saturday! So on Monday i get a call from Rich Hi do you want us to come today Monday to move you i heard they did not pick up ! You heard they did not pick up !!! REALLY ????? That info took a whole 48 hours to figure out you left me and two other people sitting waiting for your men to show up to move me !!! So as i end this story i hope karma destroys your company your company and Linda deserve to sit in my shoes lay out the money i laid out not to mention the anxiety pain and stress you caused !!!! DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I WILL BE REPORTING THIS TO BETTER BUSINESS AND MY ATTORNEY FOR COMPENSATION!!!! Needless to say Sunday i needed a whole new moving company!!!! Thank you for nothing!!! The worse company!!!!

NIGHTMARE!!!

This would take pages to describe what a nightmare this experience was. Underestimated cost, by 100%! Sent much smaller truck than promised, which took much longer, multiple trips back and forth, which meant more time. Many items damaged, in both residences, including floors, walls, furniture, fragile items that the movers were paid to carefully pack. Items missing, including valuables. Please check other reviews before booking. Police were notified, report taken, District Attorney's Office spoken with, DOT and BBB notified. I was met with rudeness, defensive horrible attitude, and no resolution offered except "call the police". Would not unload the truck at 3 am until payment made in full, ALL CASH (or bank check at 3 am). Movers spoke harshly about the people they work for, the hours they must work, and the small amount of money they make. Everyone throws everyone else under the bus. No one takes any responsibility. They've got you and they know it. I WOULD NEVER USE OF RECOMMEND THIS "BUSINESS"!!!

Long-distance move from Coram, NY to Sarasota, FL

Worst Company and Experience total Nightmare!!!

May 2022 -Called Tri-State Movers from Farmingdale, Long Island for a Quote:

Spoke with Elaine who was very nice over the phone and explained we had a 1-bedroom apartment with a loft and a storage unit and needed a quote on the cost to move from Long Island, NY to Sarasota, Fla. We then gave her itemized details of the contents of our apartment, 1 bedroom, living room, basic kitchen items, a loft, dining room table and 6 chairs, various paintings, camping gear, 2 bicycles and a storage unit and about 30 boxes.

She then quoted a price of $1,700 to go with other families in 1 truck and would take a few weeks to get our stuff or if we wanted to go express/direct it would cost us $3,400 and would have our stuff within 5 to 7 days. We decided it was within our budget and would go the express/direct route. We then proceeded to pack all our boxes, clothes etc.

Moving Day: Friday, July 22, 2022 The truck arrived 1 ½ hours later than they were originally scheduled. There were 3 guys which one guy had an extreme odor of marijuana. I then questioned him and asked if he was smoking pot, which he just stared at me with no response and said nothing. I was just hoping he wasn’t going to break anything since it was obvious, he was “high”. They took our furniture apart and packed up the truck which took over 6 hours. It appeared they were working at a snail’s pace. It was a very hot day and we provided them with water and cool drinks, containers of ice and plastic cups and a very generous tip.

Finally, after everything was packed and the guy in charge had an inventory sheet and told us the price has changed to $6,500 as we had more stuff than what we told Elaine. I asked him to repeat the price (thought I heard him wrong) which he did and my mouth dropped and said our budget only allowed us $3,400. as Elaine had quoted.

I asked why they didn’t have someone physically come ahead of the move, check what we had and give us a quote. The guy in charge said there was nothing he could do and no one was in the office at this time and we would have to call the next day and discuss with them. I told him we definitely can’t do the express/direct route (not in our budget) and to make sure, to now change it to put with other families on one truck.

Tri-State Movers from Farmingdale, Long Island not calling us back: Saturday, July 23 we tried getting some answers from Elaine but to no avail, she somehow disappeared and never answered the phone. We were trying to get someone on the phone on how much this was going to cost us and how long would it now take not going express/direct and we finally got LINDA on the phone who was VERY RUDE stating someone will call us back. We asked if she had our phone number and she said she didn’t, had other customers and hung up on us!! After calling numerous times, we were told by Linda they now had to reweigh our stuff again.

Sunday July 24, 2022 -We were now in our new home with no furniture, clothes, and kitchen items and any necessities. This was extremely upsetting and stressful living under these conditions. We were basically getting the run around and getting no answers. They kept telling us someone will call us back with the information but no one ever did which was really frustrating. I finally had a very good friend who has a lot of expertise in this type of situation call Tri-State. She spoke to the owner of Tri-State Movers, Gaverial. He said the reason it cost us more money was because we never told them we had a storage unit (which we did) and he stated the storage unit had the same amount of stuff as our apartment, which of course it didn’t. So obviously he was lying again. Gaverial said we would have our stuff by Aug 5 and if we are not satisfied with that, we could get another moving company. However, we would have to give Tri-State Movers $4,000 to get our stuff out. We called another moving company to see what they would charge and it was around $4,000 so it would end up costing us $4,000 to Tri-State Movers warehouse and another $4,000 to hire another moving company. Since our funds were very limited, our only choice was to stay with Tri-State Movers and try to work something out.

Disgusting company

This company is a complete RIP OFF… I was quoted twice the amount of my original quote and they broke my things. I paid weekly for a total of $950 and when they were done handed me a bill for $2,357 and the mover “ talked him down” to an additional $919 which I had to remove from my savings. After tipping the workers and feeding them lunch, the manager made it sound like this was a requirement. After confronting the Manager several time… he told me he would call back and never did. When I finally reach ahold of him a week later … he told me we are done and I can go get a lawyer and hung up on me. Never got a refund, reported to the Better Business Bureau.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Fraudulent Estimate

This company low balls the estimate to get your business and then charges more than double! Estimate was $1,660 and then once the movers arrived at the new address they said it cost $3,800! We got them down to $2,800. ! I don’t understand how this is legal. The estimate is the only thing in writing , and then there is no receipt of what you actually pay. They only accept cash or cash app to pay. No credit cards. Shady!

Tri-State aren’t movers, they’re criminals

Same as many other disaster stories here, but even worse. Theft of cash, jewelry, art. Practically everything damaged and broken - in excess of $50k. Challenged me to a fistfight when I objected. Worse than you can imagine. Would like to talk with others who had similar experience. Class action lawsuit seems to be correct path forward. Need to talk to additional claimants/plaintiffs. Text 202-680-3924. Criminals, the lot.
