Long-distance move from New York to Florida

All they want is your money after that they are done talking to you.

Moved from New York to Florida they quoted me one price and it was too much stuff so they gave me a higher price of course the truck was packed already. The people that actually put the stuff on the truck and moved the stuff out of the house were fine, no problem. They told me it would be there on a Friday, and a week and a day later the stuff showed up. No bed for a week. Then they damaged some stuff and had some stuff missing. I called them they were nice and everything I sent them over pictures of what was damaged and what was missing and after that you couldn't get in touch with them. I couldn't get in touch with them. Sent out emails and they would not talk to me anymore. The damaged and missing items were not that expensive, if they just gave me a little money back I would have been happy. They wouldn't take any of my calls I actually had to call them for a different cell number otherwise they see my number and they would not answer it. The guy actually asked me what number am I calling from. Filed a claim with them gave them the twenty days for them to resolve it and they didn't care.

Do not use them.

DO NOT HIRE TRI-STATE MOVERS-

We hired TRISTATE MOVERS weeks ago to move only the big pieces of furniture and have had nothing but a nightmare since. They sent two inexperienced movers who damaged our furniture, walls in our new house and took their sweet time moving the furniture. After weeks of trying to get someone to come out and fix the damaged furniture or at least provide the paperwork to place a claim, we have gotten no where.

They don't return calls or respond to at least an email, especially ones regarding damage they caused. And in addition to all this, their contract was so deceiving and confusing we ended up paying and additional $250.

So just a warning, do not hire TRISTATE MOVERS..

DO NOT EVER USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!

This was literally the worst experience of my life! The entire company is incompetent, unprofessional and super rude! The women Linda in office is so disrespectful nasty and super rude! is so disrespectful and nasty! She sent incorrect documentation 4 times. After that nightmare, they originally quoted us a flat rate. Then, once the movers were 2 hours late showing up to the new location, they decided to charge us an extra 800 dollars on top of the flat rate. This moron Gavriel called who can’t even speak English and was a complete jerk, told the moving truck to leave with all of our stuff if we didn’t pay the rest of the 800. They are a complete scam of a company and will absolutely be taken to court! Please for your sake don’t even give this company the time of day!!!

Nightmare- Worse than Poor

All we wanted done was to move a couch from Long Beach to Commack. They sent 3 unprofessional, inexperienced, ridiculous buffoons...they arrived 3 hours, late broken down truck.... they didn't shrink wrap my couch or pad our cushions properly....they then proceeded to not arrive at their destination in Commack until 8 p.m. at night ...damaged the couch and damaged the house at their destination...gouged walls, marked up paint, broke a piece off the slat in the food pantry and more...unfortunately we paid them at the start and are out $280 plus all the damage that they did to the house... they don't return phone calls or pick up the phone at the main number...Huge scam ?

NEVER HIRE TRI STATE IN FARMINGDALE

We used this company to move 6 hours from Long Island.

I found the estimator to be very trustworthy- Kenny came to my house, he was kind and thorough. I believe the quote he gave me was strong. He stated that your drivers would be weighing the truck in Farmingdale. This was a lie. Your movers told us they measure the cubic feet to get to a weight measurement. The estimate was incredibly off, though it was comparable to other companies that I spoke to.

The sale rep, Elaine, also sold the company very well- it seems like she is on your side. However, when it came to the move:

- She did not confirm the move beforehand. I had to call.

- I had to call 3 TIMES to know when my truck would be delivered. No one notified me.

- NO ONE told me the rules of your payment extortion. The total cost of the move was $1600 more than estimated with no communication from an actual person as to why. I received a text message with the additional money and stating I had to pay it to get my belongings delivered.

- The text message provided the wrong Venmo name. That was ridiculous.

- No one told me that I had to pay before it was unloaded. No rules were laid out.

- Absolutely terrible customer service.

Your movers:

- Yes, they delivered the boxes. That's one good thing. 1 * for that.

- They signed our names after packing the truck. We did not have the chance to review ANY paperwork.

- They used our bathrooms in our old home and new home. Making messes each time. It was disgusting.

- Smoked/vaped in EVERY room of our house. Both houses.

- One mover in particular talked on the phone the ENTIRE time to his girlfriend/friend.

- One mover REFUSED to wear a mask in our home.

Bad estimate

We don’t always move so we don’t know if this is the norm but their estimate was almost 50% off, we felt that they low-balled us to hook us in and at the end they said “it’s more than what was expected” and we ended up paying 50% more than the estimate even though the inventory we provided was very accurate. Some manager named Linda also did not care, she said “it is what it is”, no customer service training of any sort. They also said they would wrap all the furniture but that was not true either, they wrapped some but not all. The only good thing was the movers themselves were nice and professional but they took our tool kit without asking so they could disassemble the big furniture and they never returned any of the tools even after the move. Overall it was an okay experience but I don’t think we’d hire them again.

Worst experience ever

I was quoted $555 for the work and they charged me more in the end. They had scheduled for the 1130am-130pm time slot but they came after 4pm...THAT IS YOUR FAULT. The two men who moved the furniture, were very helpful at least but it took longer to get the work done because they were tired and the company increased our payment. They couldn't pick up some items because of its heavy-weight capacity.

They had covered my items and took care of loading and unloading which took a long time. The ladies who were trying to help me with appointments etc were nice to say the least. here's the worst part.

The head boss of the movers named Gabriel is a jerk. EXTREMELY RUDE. Wanted payment immediately when my phone and internet were acting up. He threatened me to keep the items in storage and I had to go to Merrick to get it myself if I didn't give payment.  I had to partial pay which I had $440 cash at the time but zelle wasn't working on my cell. Eventually I forwarded the rest of the payment via zelle ($435) to gabriel. Once paid, the movers unloaded the rest of my items and finished their job at midnight.

My rating out of 5 is a BIG FAT ZERO. FAIR WARNING, DON'T USE THEM.

Damage- No response

I used them for a move within state. They demanded their payments immediately on delivery via PayPal or Venmo, no credit card allowed. They wanted their money instant! But when I call to report a couple small problems and start a claim they have given me the run around for over a month now. No one calls me back. This isn’t loading that’s not loading. No response. Worst company ever.

Misleading quotes and lack of communication

I had my stuff moved into storage in November. Not once did they call about paying monthly, saying that I could pay at the end when my move was complete. I called anyway to pay some of it off and took multiple phone calls and even blocking my phone number to get an answer. The storage which was supposed to be $160 per month was $313 per month. (And no notice of this price change). This was way more than I exprected to pay of course. They will take a credit card for that but only that. You need cash or an app to pay for anything else. I rushed to moved my stuff to a self storage unit because I didn’t trust to be able to get in contact with them again. And I don’t want to keep paying the storage fees. My quote to move was reasonable and told to us at the beginning. ….and then they added all the “fees” which basically more than doubled what I owed. Ended up out $3000 total more than expected because of the misrepresentation of their quote. The workers won’t move anything unless paid. They did a good job, but that’s about it. The office is unorganized and they locked me out of the site to check my account. If they see your number, they won’t answer. Multiple times I was told someone would call me back (and this was when I was trying to pay them) and no one did. Finally figured out they answer blocked numbers. I screenshotted to make sure I had evidence of what I paid. Also used cash apps to have a paper trail. Very disappointed with this company and their lies about pricing and total run arounds for information. Wish I saw the negative reviews sooner because they are accurate.
