Local move from Scotch Plains, NJ to Springfield, NJ

So disappointed. I dared to trust them. DON'T.

Before moving any furniture, Danny removed the glass doors from my wall unit and dropped one of them. It smashed to pieces. He said "don't worry, I will replace it. I already took the measurements, I will have a new glass door made, and I will return and install the new door and the other one".
I have called the company several times each month, for the past 6 months since the move.
However, no one will take responsibility for Danny's claims to make good on the damage he caused, and instead said they would have Danny call me. You can guess - he has not returned my calls, and the company fails to uphold his word, nor satisfy me, the customer.

The move took many more hours than they initially estimated, and they finally concluded the move at midnight. By 4:00 when I saw that this move was never going to finish without some intervention, I pitched in and helped them move the house contents out to the truck. We finally pulled away from my house at 6:00, and they took another 5-6 hours to complete the move. I was respectful and tipped them all generously, but regret that now that they have failed me.

TJ was delightful to talk to initially during the contract phase, but has not been responsive since moving day. Jay pretends to know nothing about the damage, yet he was informed of the damage on the day of the move.

Do not use these movers. There are plenty of others to choose from, who will likely be more reputable and responsive.

Long-distance move from Utica, NY to Raleigh, NC

If I could give ZERO stars I WOULD.

You will see confident while going through the quote process with TJ. He will be very nice and say things like “Oh will wrap your painting for free”, but be warned, they never give you set times on when they are coming to pick up your stuff or when they will drop it off. Once they get your deposit, they go ghost and you get the stree and worry of wondering if you’ve just been had. Then Once they do come and you get to watch one guy throw all your belonging around you know you nightmare is just starting. They don’t inventory anything. You pay half at pick up I gave the guy $500 he writes down $488, you point it out to him and get an “okay I fix”. They took my stuff on September 30th bc I needed it NC no later then October 7th. I contacted the rep TJ several times before the 30th asking when they could come get my stuff TJ kept saying let me call my manger and get back to you (never happened) I called again a week later. TJ had the same response and again no one called me back. Finally I called and left a voicemail and said I wasn’t happy and found it troublesome that after I give them a deposit I no longer have anyone getting intouch with me or calling me back and that again they could pick my stuff up at anytime bc I need it in NC on the 7th. I’m telling you this back story bc after they finally called me and told me the movers (but they really mean mover) would be there on the 30th, side note the time frame they give you add iabout 6 hours later to it. Now fast forward to the awful move in week, I called on October 5th to touch base and to make sure my stuff would be in NC with me on the 7th. TJ tells me that the 7th was my first available and they have 4 days per my contract to get it to me.. I pointed out that that wast not what I said I had told they come get my stuff at anytime cause I needed it by the 7th. TJ attitude changed very quickly he referenced my voicemail that I had left weeks ago and was rude and lost all control of any customer service he might have had. Then I asked to speak to the manager Jason, oh he’s a true piece of work he basically tells me that the company is made up of close family and friends and that he would listen to the call and take care of it. 5 seconds later he becomes rude and claims that all the sudden the 7th is a moving start date (I’d like to point out that the term “start date” was never used until now). I had gotten so disgusted with the behavior of TJ and Jason that I told Jason (who’s a manager) that I would like to disconnect from the conversation at this time and just to call me once my stuff is on the way and I ended the call. Jason calls back just to scream at me and then to hang up the call on me. Now on the 4th day, October 10th the movers get there and want all the $$ upfront. I put up a fuss bc I already know this isn’t going to go well. Then they tell me if I don’t give them $488 right now they are leaving. They then call Jason he gets on the phone and in a want to be goon tone describes my appearance, what I’m wearing that it must be hot out and I’m sweating, it was very scary and creepy. So I gave them $500 against my good judgment but at they point they still had my stuff. I owed them $475 and they said no u owe $488 so I had to speak to Jason again to get my change back. Now the most horrible part, all my bins and most of my items had been picked through. Things where BROKEN, DIRTY and yes STOLEN! They took several items clothing, shoes, unused personal care items, etc. boxes where opened and look through, my mattress was unwrapped and dirty, a $1500 dresser was completely unwrapped and had chucks missing out of it. They counted 43 items on the truck when they took them from my home in NY. They brought back 39 boxes to NC. Items that where my deceased fathers have been stolen or broken. I have never felt more violated by a company in my life. After all was said and done I refused to sign anything for they movers. One of the guys became pushy and said “your going to sign or else.” He said “if you don’t sign it looks like we stole.” I laughed and said, “while my stuff is missing/ stolen so of corse I’m not sgining.” I then left my storage unit 2 min after the movers there was traffic and I noticed they where back and heading to my storage unit. I turned around and went back as well. I asked the mover what he was doing he said “you and me are going up to do inventory and so I can take a picture proving we moved your stuff. Bare in mind they NEVER took and inventory when they picked up the stuff they just put little number tags on boxes. I refused to let the movers back into the unit the guy then goes to the office and try’s to get into my unit they told him it’s my unit and I’m the only one with a key. The mover said “Your taking me up there right now and we do inventory.” I again refused and told them they are now trespassing and needed to leave and they finally did. I’m begging you in no way should anyone do any form of business with Better Rate Movers you will regret it very step of the way.

Long-distance move from New York to Georgia

Long distance moving.

I began my search for long distance movers through the internet and was drawn first by the catchy name and I must say I was not disappointed. Not only did they provide the best rate, but outstanding customer service. Begining with the my customer service representative Jason who gave me my first quote and worked with me through my many changes of inventory. Next where the actual movers who were professional and very courteous they arrived on time and treated all merchandise with care. They were up front and honest about the process so I knew what to expec I was given an expected arrival time and they were in fact on time. My articles were delivered and unpacked and I was very pleased with the outcome. I would recommend this company to anyone looking to move locally or long distance.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Nebraska

They is neither cheap nor good customer service.

The team who gives Quotations are very friendly, will follow up, and will do the best they can to give you best service - But their involvement ends as soon as you pay the deposit. From here on you are on your own.

The driver who comes for the pickup is an independent contractor who has very little to no information about the stuff they are supposed to transport - They will re-assess the size and will Quote you a new price.
[Sir, Your boxes are not large, they are extra-large. So you will have to pay X amount of dollars.
For this I have to printout the Dimensions I have emailed to the people who gave me a quote - and remeasure in front of him to make sure that this is the item that they have quote me for]

The Delivery team will again re-assess the house they are supposed to deliver and quote another price
[Sir, You have 4 Sets of stairs and this will cost you X amount of dollars.
Again have to run errands to get a print out of the communication to the quotation team to show him that I have already paid for the stairs for an agreed flat fee]
[Sir, Your apartment door (not apartment entrance door) is more than 75Ft away for the truck, you pay X amount of fees - The Total distance is including the distance between the first stair to the last stairs. If this is included in the distance why was I charged for the stairs; I had to argue about it and call the customer service, for which I was told to deal with the driver. The response I got "I am not there, you will have to deal with the driver']

After all the arguments - I had to pay some extra money.
And to top the whole experience, there was a box missing. During discussing the further course of action, the statement driver made explained a lot about the company I am dealing with - "I have more than a thousand boxes in my truck, don't you think there will at least a few missing"
And now for the missing box, I will have deal with the insurance company.
[I have called customer service again - they instructed the same again, listen to the driver; Yeah listen to the driver who only had his best interest in mind by trying adding fees at every possible step. Thanks Customer Service].

Long-distance move from Akron, NY to Spokane, WA

Nightmare and heart breaking.

Warning..do not book with this company if you care about your belongings. I initially reserved my move with American Roadway and did not know about his company until they were contracted to deliver my furniture. They damaged every piece of furniture, lost items and delivered items that were not ours. It was the worst moving experience I have ever had. These were family heirlooms. They talk a good game but they are con artists. Don’t fall for their rhetoric. Horrible company and disgraceful employees.
