Long-distance move from Mays Landing, NJ to Washington, PA

Never showed up

If I could give them a zero star I would. They called on Wednesday and said they would meet us on Thursday from 10-2. Never showed up and when we called we were told not to get an attitude they were doing their best and they would meet us on Friday between 1-3 and would call an hour before. At 2:30 no call so we called and were told they were in an accident and the driver already spoke to us and we agreed to meet the next day. We were staying out of state and leaving on Saturday and never spoke to anyone. So they clearly broke their contract and we would have never known if we didn’t call. They said they would TRY to get our refund. They better do more then try.

Long-distance move from Kings Park, NY to Tampa, FL

*********DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY*********

I believe I was the victim of a well-choreographed fraud scheme perpetrated by Top Country Moving LLC 702 S Military Trail Deerfield Beach, FL 33442-3025 and NEA Vanlines LLC 2321 Kennedy Blvd Ste 210 North Bergen, NJ 07047-2069.

The 2 companies appear to work in conjunction as Top Country Moving LLC acts as the online Broker that unbeknownst to the customer sub contracts the move out to NEA Vanlines LLC.

In the end the $4039.11 move ended up costing me $9,339.11 with $5300.00 of that paid in extortion fees.

About half way through the packing up process the NEA supervisor at our house tells us that we are going to go past the Cubic feet and box count number that Top Country Moving LLC quoted us and he would need an additional $3800.00 from us to continue the move. We asked how this is possible and it was the NEA driver that told me that Top Country Moving LLC’s computers were under some sort of “Ransomware hack” and the relocation specialist Austin Carey did the calculations manually and made a mistake.

We immediately called Top Country Moving LLC that told us that they are not responsible if we go over our quoted box count and that they are merely the broker and we would have to deal with NEA directly. Our 2 choices at that moment was to either cancel the move and lose our $1,724.00 deposit we gave to Top Country Moving (and to postpone our entire move process well as my job transfer start date of Oct 1st) OR pay NEA Vanlines this extortion money of $3800.00 right there on the spot

Long-distance move from Brockport, NY to Austin, TX

Thieves and Criminals

I've already filed complaints with 2 federal agencies they fall under. These people contracted out my move to a company they clearly didn't vet, and we ended up with $5000 worth of goods that were either "lost" or damaged beyond repair. Our goods looked like they were handled like a football. A lot of it was smashed, scuffed, scraped, stained, or simply had critical pieces broken off. While creating a list of the items that never made it, I noticed something suspicious: everything that I couldn't find was more valuable than the overwhelming majority of items that made it to our home. The movers that picked up our goods wrote some of the most illegible chicken scratch I've ever seen when annotating what was being loaded in the truck, so I have no way of even proving what did and didn't make it because no one can read the list they made. They increasingly charged me more money every step of the way. I was originally quoted a little over $4000. By the end of it I was paying about $7000. The movers that dropped off my goods refused to offload the truck unless I paid them in cash. I didn't have over $2500 in cash, so I had to pay the rest through Zelle directly to one of the movers. None of this sounds like a legitimate or legal business practice. I will likely never see any of that stuff they lost again, and a lot of it was tactical equipment, uniforms, and gear that I've acquired over a 10-year army career.

Not reputable.

Never pay an upfront deposit. You’ll never get your money back. I was given an estimate for my 86 year old mother’s move on a Friday and was given 48 hours to cancel. After reading horrible reviews and weeks before her anticipated move date I tried to cancel.

My cancellation request was denied and they refused to return my $1227 deposit. I have since moved Mom and have no intention of moving long distance again. Any reputable company would have credited the money back. Obviously Top Country is desperate. They have no qualms about keeping money for literally nothing.

Long-distance move from Long Beach, CA to Aurora, CO

If I ever have to make a move again, I know who I am going to call.

I must have called a dozen companies when I was getting ready to move and I kept going to back to the pricing that Top country moving gave me. Almost every other moving company wanted double their cost and was going to take three times as long to get all of my stuff from Miami to Washington. Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s a long drive but I had one guy tell me that it was going to take a month! Long story short, Top country moving was fast, efficient and everything arrived at my new home in one piece. If I ever have to make a move again, I know who I am going to call.

Top country moving is by far the most professional

Top country moving is by far the most professional and affordable moving company that I have used. I have moved many times throughout my life and although these times are stressful, Top country moving made my moving experience the best it could be. The service was outstanding, the team was always reliable and friendly, and they provided top notch service! No items were stolen or broken, and the team was always polite and eager to get the job done. Most moving companies are expensive and hard to communicate with; however, Top country moving provided outstanding service!

I will call top country moving!

Top country moving was extremely responsive. They called as soon as I inquired thru google. was very easy - I just walked thru the hose and told them what I had. They sent me a written estimate very quickly too. We had difficulty - because our closing date keep changing. top country moving wanted a $100 deposit that would be forfeited if we changed the date. The date we ended up having to move, top country moving was not available. However, the owner tried to work something out for me. He called me himself with times he could move us. Hopefully, I will never move again. But if I do, I will call top country moving!

Long-distance move from New York to Kansas

No communication, under-quoted rate, atrocious customer service

THIS IS NOT A MOVING COMPANY--IT'S A BROKER WHO DOES NOT ACTUALLY MOVE YOUR GOODS

Top Country Moving does not keep their word or stand by their service, and their customer service agents are rude & incredibly unhelpful. They have friendly and supposedly knowledgeable people they have working in sales, but they do not deliver on what they promise. Their website mentions their background in performing demanding moves, which is completely misleading because they do not handle the shipments at any point; they are just a middleman.

Top Country Moving's website states "We strive to be in constant communication with our customers until the job is done." This is not true. After taking my non-refundable deposit, they made no effort to stay in contact with me, even when they specifically said they'd call two weeks ahead of the move to confirm everything. I reached out myself 5 days before the move and was told nothing other than someone would contact me in a few days. After my things were picked up, again there was zero communication (more on that later).

While I had overstated the number and size of the boxes I had to ensure I had enough space reserved, Top Country Moving had significantly underestimated the amount of space I needed, and it cost me dearly. The total came to over $2000 more than the initial quote.

There was absolutely no communication from them or the moving company after they collected my things. I had requested an earliest delivery date that was 19 days after my things were picked up. When that date arrived and I hadn't heard from either Top Country Moving or the actual moving company, I reached out myself. I couldn't speak with anyone at the moving company, so I reached out to Top Country Moving to express my disappointment with the service and lack of communication. I then learned that my items were still sitting in a warehouse in NJ, and they wouldn't even know when they would ship for another few days.

I pointed out that Top Country Moving told me when I first arranged to use their service that it can take up to two weeks for my goods to arrive at my destination. The woman I spoke with acknowledged at that point that they had passed the two weeks it should take to arrive, but that they would do their best to have my items shipped as soon as possible. After this phone call, I reviewed the contract I received from the movers more closely, and found it did not match what I agreed to with Top Country Moving, I tried to pull up my original contract, but it was no longer available; when I clicked the link to the agreement, all I got was a page stated "This job is booked! Contact Customer Service."

I received a follow-up call to confirm that my things would be shipped in two or three days, and would take 3-5 days to arrive. I explained that I could not pull up my original agreement and was told that it would be emailed to me, but this never happened. Additionally, while I was speaking with the same woman I had been on the phone with a few days before, who had already acknowledged that my things were shipping out after the two week window I had been given, when I again wanted to submit a complaint about how the earliest delivery date I selected should not be the earliest ship date, she would not escalate my call and instead told me I should have asked that ahead of time and they would have told me. I cannot imagine why anyone should have to ask a shipping company to confirm if when they say "delivery date" they actually mean "ship date". If I had known my things wouldn't even be shipped until after the earliest delivery date, I would have made my arrangements differently. I also would have made sure to keep certain necessities and personal items with me rather than send them with the movers. It's December, and I'm in a new home without any blankets or personal items. It's currently 44 degrees, and the temperature drops below freezing during the night, so it's a real hardship not to even have a blanket at night, and they not only don't care, they blame the customer for anything that has gone wrong, as I have learned from other people I connected with online who have had a similar experience.

If you're considering using this company, no matter what great rate they give you, don't do it!! It's not worth it! And that nice low quote they give you is only about half of what you can expect to actually pay.

Will and have recommended to anyone that needs a good quality company.

I really need to thank Top country moving for the amazing job that they did. Everything from the estimator Eric who came to my home and the delivery crew who put everything exactly where I wanted it to go the experience was great. It has been a pleasure dealing with them and I know that if I had a poor experience I would write a review so I figured it's only fair that I voice my PLEASURE! Worst moving company ever

They deserve no stars...This has got to be the worst moving company in the country. I worked with Austin Casey who spoke to me over an hour on the phone, very friendly, accommodating to my parents last minute move. I booked them 4 days prior, with Austin confirming that the truck would be at my parents place by 11 am on 11/27. He did say he had to put 1/2 day delivery window slot per the DOT. No call, no show. I call to check in after they are 2 hours late. I get put in touch with Rachel Johnson, she says they are not coming and they will be coming tomorrow, 11/28 instead between 3-6 pm. They cannot guarantee a pickup day and it says in the contract 1/2 day window for pickup. I push back a bit but say I understand and I will get the neighbor to let the movers in since my parents were leaving at 4 am for a 15 hour drive to their new home. 11/28 turns up. I call to confirm at noon the 3-6 pickup, Rachel confirms with me. Then 5 minutes later calls back to tell me they cannot make it today, that there has been a delay and that they will need to pickup tomorrow morning 11/29 instead. I say this is unacceptable and they are breaking the contract and the 1-2 day pickup window, she of course denies. I say I want to cancel. I would have gone with a different moving company if I knew this was going to happen. She says I need to send an email, they will most likely not refund me. I say just cancel me then and I will send an email asking for the refund. Then my mom gets a phone call from some random guy named Sal who supposedly is a 3rd party contractor with top country moving asking her to VENMO him the remainder of the money and he will come move her stuff. Excuse me what? This was never discussed. So I call this guy Sal and tell him we are cancelling with top country moving, then I call Rachel and ask her who Sal is. She says she hasnt had a chance to call him and say that we cancelled. This was a lie, he was called as a last minute hail mary to try and keep the job. This company has been an absolute disgrace and they deserve to be reported and shut down. I have moved plenty of times and have never run into a situation like this. Moving is stressful enough especially with a disabled parent and to have to deal with these inconsiderate, rude people has been a nightmare.

I will definitely use them

I contacted top country moving because they were close to my apt. I needed to move out of a 2 bedroom apt. My friend kept telling me he would give me his person. 3 weeks later still no name or number. I had to be out in 1 1/2 weeks and was really getting nervous. We found top country moving. I just joined and was happy they were on the list. We got a few other estimates. They were the cheapest and I usually don't use the cheapest, but we felt comfortable that they would do a good job. We were their last job on Sunday night. The 2 guys were exhausted, but they didn't stop. They did an awesome job. I was very impressed. They even took the mattress, box spring and some boxes to our house (which is being remodeled) I will definitely use them to move my stuff from the Storage unit to the house.

Likely fake reviews - read 1 stars

Top Country Moving is the definition of a bait and switch and told me "they hope God forgives me". Almost every positive review on Google is from someone with only one review - which makes it likely they are fake. On this site, there's no in-between stars, which is again suspicious.

1. Connor Ryan sold me the package and he really helpful, responsive, communicated well, etc. Right after it was sold, the customer service person, Connor Ryan stopped replying to all emails, calls, and texts.

2. Top Country Moving used a third party that's headquartered in LA and when they called, they were incredibly aggressive from the start of the phone call. They called themselves "the moving company" and would not state who they were, would not let me speak to another rep, would not let me speak to a manager, and told me if I didn't give them my name and information, that they would cancel my move".

3. The estimate provided was $1000 off from the total they gave me and I was told that I would be contacted further so we could understand what happened. It's been a week and I've received no follow up.

4. The 3rd party company they provided to move my car showed up and was not able to communicate with us on the phone, leaving us overall helpful to find them and get my car loaded.

5. I was told TCM would follow up with me on Monday (they did not).

6. I called and the person who answered the phone wanted nothing more than to end the call from the second it started. Attitude across the board at this company is unprofessional and hostile.

7. My stuff was picked up last Monday (a week ago) and I was never told that it goes and sits in a warehouse until they are ready to ship. I called to get an update on where it is and the SOONEST it'll be here is 10 days after the pick up date. They told me when booking and when picking up, that the latest it would arrive would be 10 days.

8. The company finally arrived with less than 24 hours notice, used an excessively large truck that had to be parked farther than normal, and then charged me an extra $200 for walking further.

9. I was told by Connor Ryan than the company assembles and disassembles it all and the physical workers said they don't do that for everything and couldn't fit my couch in my apartment. They tried and in doing so, severely damaged my door frame, door, floor, hallway. They also damaged my couch.

10. All of my boxes, ALL of them, were damaged and some with major chunks taken out.

11. No one would answer the phone the day of the move at the company and yet when I had friends call, people answered.

12. After submitting for a fraud company on the payment via my credit card company, Top Country Moving called and said "We cannot believe you wrote such unholy reviews and hope God forgives you for what you wrote". I'm flabbergasted.

This is a fraudulent company. Do not move with them. They did not deliver and execute as promised.

I cannot express enough how much I would avoid using this company.

Excellent Communications

Now these guys are professional movers...from start to finish these 4 young lads worked like dogs, and it was a long day that included a 120 mile ride to my new residence...the front office was well organized with excellent communication skills, and the 4 lads could not have been nicer or more professional. They treated my furniture like it was their own. And the price was VERY reasonable considering all the work that went into the move...I'd use this company even if I was moving across the street!!!

Top country moving literally saved my life - or at least my sanity! - when I had to relocate from FL to IL at short notice. I was so happy with the services provided by this company.

I own a lot of breakables. So naturally I was worried for how they were going to travel from Texas to North Carolina. I specifically asked the movers from Top country moving to take extra care of my glassware, boxes, and furniture. They did exactly that. They were very well equipped and methodically packed everything with great caution. They placed the boxes strategically in the truck so they won’t break. In the end, when my items arrived in North Carolina, Everything arrived completely unharmed. I was so happy with the services provided by this company.

Worst company ever

WORST COMPANY EVER. THEY SCAMMED US AND TOOK OUR 800 DOLLAR. AVOID THIS COMPANY. Here is the situation we called them to make a cross country move. They agreed to take our stuff in boxes when they came to pick it up they couldnt take the boxes they agreed to. They asked for more money when they got to our place. So we kindly declined to pay. So we decided to move everything our self in a U-Haul. But then they charged us 800 dollars for nothing. We fought with our bank but they are still not giving us our money. At times like this I did not want to be scammed out of 800 dollars like this to have not get any service. I am sad and I will try to fight this with a lawyer. But any one looking at this please Avoid this company they are scammers. Do not care anything about you all your money. They are huge liars. They will do anything to sigh you up and take your deposite then when they show up in person it's another situation, saying ohh this is a lot of stuff it won't fit in this cubic centimeter and try to charge you more money. And when you decline because they did not stand on what you signed up for they will take your deposits and leave. I hope God punish you for taking my money with out providing me any service.

Would recommend them highly.

They started the day at 8:00, efficiently and effectively packing my 3 bedroom flat in record quick time. After a quick early lunch break (which I insisted on) they loaded the truck and started to my new house by mid-afternoon. They arrived at our new house within the schedule time, where the team unloaded the stuff with great care, skill and professionalism. We received everything in one piece and nothing was missing. They never once complained and were courteous and cheerful throughout the whole process. I would definitely use top country moving and would recommend them highly.

I needed to move from Dallas to Los Angeles and wasn't able to take all my stuff with me on my own. Though I was reluctant to use a moving company due to a bad experience in the past, I needed more help than just my own two hands and my sedan. top country moving’s quote was fair and when it came time for the move they really delivered. The movers arrived on time and checked with me about which items/boxes were fragile before picking anything up. I was relieved when everything arrived to LA on time and in one piece. Scam moving company

They are a broker moving company that takes their cut right off the top and then it moves down to the local level. They quoted around $2000 for a 1 bedroom apt. to move from Louisville, KY to Little Rock, AR. When the actual movers got there the day of move they said this is not what they quoted exactly and said it would now be over $5000 dollars to move a one bedroom. What a scam. I'm in AR so I'm not paying that. I cancel the move and fly out to pack her up in a uhaul and drive it to AR the next day. I was still charged over $1300 and they never touched anything. Moral of the story talk to someone local to move you not an online scam broker. Learned my lesson the hard way.

Long-distance move from Redmond, OR to Weatherford, TX

I was having a hard time finding a moving truck and somehow got connected with these people. I was originally quoted about $13,000 for my move but when I told the salesman there was no way I could afford that and that I'd be better off selling all of my stuff and replacing it he was willing to negotiate. He seemed very reasonable and we settled on a price of about $9800. It was still more than I was comfortable with but I am willing to pay for good service, which he assured me I would receive.

Two days before the move I get a call from "Quality Assurance" to finalize the shipping manifest and the move details and suddenly we're back up over $12,000. I wouldn't be able to pay that even if I wanted to so I was forced to cancel. I was foolish enough to listen to the salesman explain the contract rather than just read it for myself. That's a mistake I dont usually make but I was so stressed out about trying to plan the biggest move I've ever made that I was obviously not thinking clearly. Unfortunately the contract states that they can screw you and then keep your deposit (over $3000 in my case) if you don't consent to the screwing. Fortunately I was able to find a Penske moving truck at the last minute and, even with the cost of fuel and loosing my deposit, it is still cheaper than giving these scumbags anymore of my money. Be careful!
