Long-distance move from New Jersey to Texas

Move From NJ To TX.

After a first very poor move the company promise they would rectify problems for the second and final move. The second move was worse than the first. first of all, months in advance, we requested and were promised a specific moving team. This never happened. Second, because we did not take the correct insurance option (our fault) we specifically said that we wanted full coverage for the move when we made arrangements. This never happened and when we said we wanted full coverage, after the goods were picked up, the company refused. The truck arrived the week after we were told it would come. There was damaged to packed goods, a lost piece of furniture, damage to our hardwood floor and oil stains on the street in front of our home. While the goods were being packed, I went downstairs on at least 3 occasions; on EVERY occasion , the leader of the team was on the phone obviously not assisting. The final bill was 5 times the original estimate, partially as a result of more material to move and some justified packing charges, but also because of unpacked boxes and a questionable volume measurement. The moving team on the other end was a disaster. We had arranged for a second stop; the boxes were so marked. The delivery team at first refused to make the second stop. I had to go through hoops, multiple phone calls and yelling and screaming before the delivery team was told to make the second stop. Nothing that was taken apart was put back together, boxes from the first and second move were mixed up and not put in the proper rooms. These are the facts. Both moves were very poor. Draw your own conclusions about the trustworthiness and quality of the company and its services. I will never use them again and will tell anyone interested about our experiences.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to North Carolina

Very bad service and cheating sales.

First time to moving home from PA to NC, only about 427 miles. One month earlier, paid deposit for a quotaion of $2857 for 2-3 days delivery from PA to NC by their sale person named Joe. On pick-up date, the guy asked for $4600 for moving, and told me the sale guy "Joe" was fired. Then another sale man Phil called me and discuss the moving price, and finally I had to pay $4000 for moving and 3-5 days to delivery. On delivery at the 5th day after pick-up, four furnitures were damaged, several dishes and cups were broken, 25 boxes were lost. Called the custermer service, and send the losted items, but no one reply my email or call me back. The sales and pick-up guys are very implite and rude. Totally feel very bad for their moving service, strongly suggest NEVER use this company.

Happy with them.

I found these guys on a few websites, and thought they were outstanding. This was my 4th move and they were by far the most professional and well organized movers I've had. They bring tons of padding (more than any other mover) and provided 4 wardrobe boxes free of charge (which were extremely practical). Nick and his crew were great. My next move will definitely be with these guys.

Long-distance move from Massachusetts to California

State to State- WORST ever.

Worst Move experience of my life.   All of my boxes were loaded on the truck when the local supervisor informed me that it would be double the original quote.  They took a credit card for deposit and first half of the move.. Refused to take a credit card on the other end.   I had to try scramble to find $5000 on a sunday in SF.  Needless to say it didn't happen and so they refused to deliver till I had cash.  Would NOT take a credit card.   A week later after unpacking numerous boxes,  I discovered scratches on my very expensive walnut dining room table.   They did NOT deliver my trailer hitch Bike rack and Iat least one box.    This was in October of 2014,  it is now end of February.  I was just sent a letter that they are willing to give me $62.00  for at least $1,000.00 worth or damage and missing items. I've never been so abused by a mover,  and I have moved cross country at least 6 times.  .

Long-distance move from New York to Tennessee

Pleasure to work with.

I used these guys to move from an apartment in NY to Memphis. They quoted me a great price for an all inclusive move - includes 2 men, loading, truck, pads, unloading and they even drove the truck without extra charges for gas. They were perfect! Took great care of all belongings and never scratched a wall! Pleasure to deal with on the phone during reservation and in person. I would trust these guys anytime.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Georgia

Horrible experience.

Initially I found this company online recieved a call back froma older man J.D Adams who was firm and assertive, very informative and polite. He quoted me a very decent price and despite what my husband warned me of Mr Adams was able to tell me the cost without someone coming out to make a estimate. I gave a deposits of 267.00 as requested that is refundable 48 prior to the date if I needed to cancel which was great. Feel super secure about this I did do business with them and believed the price I was given. Love and behold the day of pick up a estimator comes out and with some what of the list I gave Mr. Adams but cut in half.. after assessing what I originally  listed the price jumper up 2,300 additional dollars mind you I was quoted a price of 1,785.  Furious at the game that was being played on such an important day. The estimator who shows up claims to be the boss and the supervisor who controls all the pricing and slanders the sales rep as just being a dispatcher. I ask for my deposit back he walks out my door and starts his truck up an tries to pull off. I rush out to the truth take his picture and lic number finally he talks to me and starts to get honest and says he's not the boss only the estimator and what happens is not his fault he call a guy who is his boss who by the way is extremely rude extremely. The real boss now is screaming at me to the top of his lungs saying I'm incompetent and was not honest about my item list. As I tried to express that the rep who took my info who by the way is no longer available or either Ignoring my calls. slicked talk me through and it seems to be some sort of scam to keep my deposit. The BOSS says yea screw you what ever you can have your fricken money back. Destrought about how that played out my hands were tyed and I was out of options.I'm warned them I would call the police and they pulled off. 45 minutes later the diver calls me back and offers to do the job for 2,700 but not that day the next day. The next day comes he calls and says oh I can't make it. The best part was they did refund me my deposit the following business's day. If you are going to  use this company make sure they sends  estimators out first. I personally would not recommends them to anyone simply because they are dishonest and rude from the dispatch to the driver to the BOSS. Beware and stay farm ways from Mr. J.D Adams his commissions based income seems to have driven him to despert measures just to land a sale.  Perhaps the reviews they have are paid I just don't believe this kind of unproffessionalism grows over night.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

Move From nj to Florida.

The most deceitful dishonest company in the world! Bait and switch is an understatement. The guys that moved us out packed household garbage in large wardrobe boxes and charged us for them. The guys that moved us in dropped our furniture and banged our walls and fought with each other. My wife and I worked harder than they did. This guy from Bayonne named Shawn is a crook. He's a closer. He comes in during the move and starts jacking your price halfway through the move. This guy named JD Adams a so called executive salesman is the worst. He quotes you a low price and then Shawn comes in and more than doubles it. What a low life horrible company. Even after all the aggravation I still tipped the poor soles that work for them. That creep Shawn told me that the average tip is between 200-300 per person and he would be willing to bargain the tip from the final bill. What a unethical dishonest person. After he found out what I do for a living he started jacking my price up. Tell him you are homeless. Another creep dispatcher named Leo would not let the driver deliver my goods until I gave him 9k in cash. He took off $600 of fees that couldn't be explained even by Shawn the crook. It's guys like this that give new jersey a bad name. Shame on them for taking advantage of people. I hope people read this and never use them. They are bad news and I'm the nicest guy you'll meet!

Long-distance move from Maryland to New Jersey

Job well done.

After being robbed several times by several movers, finally I got what I was looking for. Recently I used divine moving & storage for my 4 bed room move from MD to NJ. They offered me a very decent price at the beginning and then got the job done without any delay, any damage, any hidden fees or any kind of mishaps. These guys knew what they were doing; they had a plan and executed all the maneuvers perfectly. That is why none of us actually felt that we were moving to another state. Thanks to the sales rep and the foreman and his helpers for the excellent job.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Pennsylvania

Smooth.

After shopping around and getting prices from different moving companies, I went to check the reviews of each company, I was thinking of going with. They were each around the same price of $1300. However after reading such poor reviews, I decided to search elsewhere and found them on here!. I started at the top of the list. I was happy to see 5 stars from over 1000 people with these companies on this site. I called the first one on the list they were very nice but wanted $1,500. After pick-up they explained I would not get the delivery for 7 days, so I jumped to the next one on the list. There was no answer on that one, so I went to the 3rd one: state to state relocation..I reached my sales guy who answered the call within the first few rings, and was very helpful in going over my moving needs. I sent him the sizes of what was being shipped and within minutes he gave me a price of $1,000. also I would have the delivery from Newark, NJ to Pittsburgh, PA within the next day. I spoke to Nathan on Tuesday night, made the order, they picked up the delivery at the set time on Wednesday, and then they delivered it on Thursday morning to Pittsburgh as promised. I cannot express how well they took the time to wrap up all of the things that were being moved. Steve who was the foreman on the job was so kind and wanted to make sure that I was happy with the way things were going. They are really a great crew. I was very happy with the pickup, and what was really nice was that the price stayed the same as Nathan told me. The driver called the next morning 1 hour before they were to drop off the delivery. . He and his crew were really great at unpacking and setting up where everything needed to go. It was such a joy to know that everything with so smooth, just as they said. I never used a moving company before but I will tell you that I will be using state to state relocation on all of our future moves. I do mortgages for a living and I plan to recommend them

Bait and Switch.

I have to say that the actual moving experience was okay. They showed up when they said they would and had our things delivered in very good time.  However.
Do not trust these guys! The sales guy, JD, was great to work with until it came time to move. Once the moving day arrived, he did not return calls or emails. It became apparent to me that he gave us the good old bait and switch. I'll explain.
I gave JD a list of everything we would be moving along with the number of square feet of our house and the fact that we had a basement. On the final list, the items listed were off by only three items. In addition, we had chosen to leave a box spring, patio table and tv behind. I expected JD, being the moving professional, to estimate the number of cubic feet that we would need within a reasonable variance. We would not have batted an eye if the price came in up to $700 higher. This was an estimated $2700 job and they jacked the price to $4500 once they had our things on their truck. He estimated IT FOR 70% LESS than we actually needed. When I confronted him by email and left him a voicemail, I did not hear back from him.
I spoke with Alonzo who said that the price was the price and we had agreed to it. That is not true. Any payment made under these circumstances are considered to be payment under duress and do not constitute an agreement on the final cost. He was unwilling to help so we reached out to Leo who supposedly runs this operation. He was even less helpful and became combative immediately. My wife never raised her voice but he verbally attacked her and then hung up on her. Needless to say, these guys are in the business of underbidding the price to get your business.
We are not letting this die. My wife is an attorney and we have spoken with an attorney in her firm's office in NJ who said that this type of behavior is a clear violation of the Consumer Fraud Act in NJ. We are in the process of filing an official complaint with the Attorney General in NJ.
If you have had a similar experience with these guys, please contact me at statetostatecomplaint@gmail.com. We intend to hold them accountable and put a stop to these dishonest business practices.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to New York

Happy I chose them.

Easy, Stress-Free Moving!!I looked around and compared prices, reviews, and the minimum hrs required. Since I'm a student and only moving my stuff (1 person) to another place 45min away, I wanted a moving company with a low minimum hr requirement and a student-friendly rate. They are by far the best company I can find!! The booking was super easy and they didn't even require a deposit. The two movers that came. I booked a Friday afternoon. They called me to let me know they were on their way and gave an eta. They were super polite and kindly asked where I wanted everything to be. They worked fast and finished everything in 3hrs (the minimum!), I had to pay for 4 with doubling the driving-time, which is the same with all the moving companies. A day later, their customer services followed through and called to get an feedback :D.

Long-distance move from New York to New Mexico

Not worth it.

These movers charged me twice what they quoted me in addition to a UHaul van at $450 to move items from the van to my front door, which was unnecessary, but at that point, I couldn't argue any more. They also failed to charge my credit card at pickup, which strained my finances dearly. I also called my sales rep, as well as the general number every single day since the pickup and they never once returned a phone call. They were also not careful with my things and charged my offensive prices for boxing up picture frames. They did no packing nor did they offer any other services and gave me a hard time about being careful with my bicycles. I would not recommend them. My roommate used Oz Movers and had a great experience at less than half the price. I'd recommend checking them out instead.

Long-distance move from Connecticut to South Dakota

Corporate.

I moved to South Dakota for work relocation and feel we made the right decision in selecting these movers instead of my company's preference due to reviews. The sales rep was very informative and professional. I was hoping to get my move delivered in two weeks but they were a few days late and is why I couldn't give them 5 stars. The crew arrived on scheduled pick up date as told and were very professional, had them do some additional packing for me and my wife we were exhausted after packing over 100 boxes . I would recommend this company again.

Dont Hire This Company.

STATE TO STATE IS A HORRIBLE COMPANY..I SPOKE TO THE SALES REP SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE  I SIGNED THE CONTRACT (Charles) he was quite professional on the phone and gained my trust. He assured me the movers were professional and would take great care of my property. What showed up to my home were extremely unprofessional and appeared to be hired off the street. There were several thousands additional cost for "packing material" added to my already inaccurate estimate.17 days after pick up ..I called Charles to get an update..he assured me the movers were on route. 8 days later a truck twice the size as the original showed up and tried to extort an additional $800 to "shuttle" the furniture because the truck was too large to fit into parking area. THE BALANCE DUE WAS NOT ACCEPTED IN THE FORM OF CASHIERS CHECK!!only CASH or money order..it took several hours to get that much cash  WHEN WE LET THE DRIVER KNIW WE HAD THE CASH..HE TOO LATE!!THE DRIVER PUT ALL OUR BELONGINGS INTO A UNDISCLOSED STORAGE UNIT and drove back to NJ!! After Days of trying reach the company we were told to WIRE THE MONEY INTO A BANK ACCOUNT AND THEY WOUL MAIL THE KEYS!!in essence State to State held our furniture hostage. The owner of the Company completely agreed with the driver. We got the police involved and filed a report. Ultimately we wired the money and access to our property 12days later..Shoved onto I storage UNIT..WORSE COMPANY ON THE PLANET!!

Terrible service after the sale.

Don't use them. They charge more than they estimate, don't return calls when there is a issue and lie about delivery dates.
Charged more than the estimate after I gave them a specific inventory. Won't return calls or emails. Basically don't care and can't deliver on there promises. Maybe I should have just moved my belongings myself with uhaul. At Least I would be sleeping on my bed instead of the floor for 3 weeks.

How else could I tell you guys, they wre the best.

I recently moved with state to state relocation from a 2-story townhome to a house.  The guys that took care of my move were excellent.  They handled everything with care and were very efficient and personable.  This was a move that I had really dreaded since I had been in my townhome for 13 years and had accumulated a lot of stuff.  This was by far the best moving experience I have ever had.  From the scheduling to the actual move, everyone that I dealt with at this moving company provided great customer service.  This is an excellent company and I would highly recommend using state to state for your next move so that you too can write a 5-start review for your moving experience.

Long-distance move from Connecticut to California

Worst Experience.

I felt very deceived by the whole company. I received a quote to move my storage unit. I GAVE THE EXACT STORAGE SIZE. since they go by Cubic feet, this should be the easiest estimate ever! 10x20 unit 85% full. I also gave them an inventory of items I knew were not boxed and larger items along with the exact number of boxes. My move was originally done by the military, so you can't get more specific on the items and weight. They chose not to calculate based on my storage size (even though you would get an EXACT cf of items) and instead went off of the inventory which shouldn't even matter (I could have all feathers or all rocks, they base it off of the cf which can be very easily calculated since I know how much is in my storage unit). After the movers getting to the storage unit, they call me saying it is double the estimated cubic feet. [EDIT]! How could it be double when I said exactly how much is filled in that storage unit. Not to mention, I overestimated since the movers actually said my unit was only 75% full not 80-85% full like I thought. Needless to say, I couldn't afford double the estimated price. I had put a $500 deposit which they would not refund. I feel like they took advantage of my vulnerable state. I would never recommend them! And I'm military so we move a lot and give a lot of referrals! .

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Georgia

Holding my Items Hostage- STAY AWAY.

I have never in my life experienced a more dishonest company and group of people. Do NOT use this company for any reason. I still have not received my items and it is months later. They won't respond to my calls or emails. I have hired an attorney and am pursuing further legal action unless my items are delivered immediately.

My items were picked up in NJ in October and were supposed to be put in climate-controlled storage for 4-5 months. I out of no where received a call a month after pick up that they would be delivering my items the following day and needed the address. I did not yet have an apartment in Georgia and they placed all of my items on a truck without an address or ever speaking to me regarding delivery.

I worked it out with the driver to deliver to SC since they were already doing a pick up in the state and I could get a storage unit for the following day. We agreed to a lower negotiated price since my move would not be delivered to the proper address. Then the owner of State to State called me and started screaming at me on the phone and hung up on me when I said I would not pay extra money to have it delivered on top of the contract, as this was their fault. In addition, they wrote an email when I booked my move that State to State is not a broker, which is a false statement and can be used against them in a court of law.

After trying to raise the total of my move by over a thousand dollars and us not agreeing to pay above the contract, they said they would not be delivering my items. My items are now in storage somewhere supposedly in Augusta, GA, but for all I know that could be another lie from this consistently dishonest company.

This company will also not allow you to pay via credit card like you did in the beginning of the move. It insists cash only and will not take your items off the truck to let you review the state and quantity of your items until you have provided the full payment in cash. They have absolutely no reason to help if something is missing or damaged.

Please don’t make the same mistake I did. They are holding hostage so much more than just things. They have my photos, gifts from my sister who passed away and so many other priceless items to me but worthless to them.

We were quoted an accurate cubic footage (cft) on 2 bed apt move from NYC to Texas, 900 cft.  Upon packing of these items, we were then billed almost double for 1,600cft.  Upon arrival of the moving truck, we measured our goods (exactly) in the back of the truck and based on the math and measurements- we were overcharged by over $3,000 for the footage calculated.  The truck driver even signed off on the exact measurements to attest to the correct cubic footage.  Not only that, after we called to complain to the company as they were unpacking to prove the overcharge, they pulled their movers from the job and did not complete the move.  We have attempted to resolve the matter with the claims department with no luck, even with proof and pictures.

DO NOT USE THEM AND DO YOUR RESEARCH!! Search this website, address, etc and ensure they just didn't go under another name. They will change their name after enough people complain about their illegal activities.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Arizona

Would not use them again.

It was my first major move; I moved from NJ to AZ in November 2015. The sales guy I worked with, JD, was helpful in the beginning but once I put down a deposit it was hard to reach him. He quoted me a price but when the movers came to pick up my stuff, they had a different quote. Luckily, the lead mover called the office and straightened it out, since I was pissed that the rate was over $2 more per cubic feet than originally quoted; it adds up when you have a lot of items. The movers were easy to deal with. However, after my items were delivered and I began unpacking, I notice a medium-size ottomon and a few weights (2 kettlebells, 20lb and 30 lbs, and a couple 10 lbs weights) were missing. I sent the sales guy an email (and phone call) with the missing items. All he did was tell me to contact another person. I called the other contact who them told me to email my inquiries to an email address who still has not responded to me after 3-4 emails. What a joke! I still don't have my items. Print the quote before the movers get there and check that the numbers match up. Movers were great but the sales guy and customer service weren't helpful after delivery. If lose your stuff, it doesn't matter to them. Negotiate pricing since there are others that provide the same service.

0 Stars---- Dont Use Them.

Long story short.. Cost changed at time of pickup, Sales rep was full of lies, No answers from the company as a whole, hard to get delivered, stuff was missing and really damaged, CHECK THE INSURANCE!! Read everything very carefully. The law is that they have to offer full liability unless you waive that right. In their paperwork, that they will change on moving date to over charge you, they hide the fact that you will only get .60 per pound and will not offer any other insurance. I had to travel over 1000 miles in 3 days for a personal move with my 6 month old and wanted the move to be a smooth as possible. I called the sales lady several times and asked a thousand questions. She reassured me several times that this was the best company and answered all my questions to my liking. pick up day she refused to answer calls and that started chain of events that has made me tell my horror story so no one else has the same experience. I am sickened with a company that would do this to anyone one. My price more then doubled the boxes were only half full, if that, and all my stuff was damaged or missing when I finally was able to get my stuff delivered. Now I get to take the few dollars they did give me for my claim and buy all new clothes, furniture for my daughter and a whole living room set that they neglected to deliver or damaged to the point of them not being usable, though now since they over charged me I cannot afford to do any of this besides the clothes. WORST COMPANY EVER!! I will be reporting to the Military Facilities as well!!

All Inclusive Move.

I am a retired US marine and wanted to spend my days of retirement in peace. So, I decided to move from the loud and buzzing city to a quieter place some at some distance in order to spend some quality time with my wife. We were moving the first time to a house that was not affiliated to my service and one that I had purchased. I requested my wife to search some information online and she ended up short listing 5 companies of them being State To State Relocation. I spoke to their sales rep and he was a soft spoken and promised great service at an extremely affordable price. They quoted me a price with was all inclusive and was from finish to end. The day we were about to move the van arrived on time and the boys all got down to work. They placed all our belongings and furniture in the van and asked me to okay the placement and quality of the move. It seemed all right and was approved by me. The next thing was expecting everything in order, which was exactly the case. Our stuff arrived in excellent condition, State to State Relocation you have my recommendation.

Fast and Efficient.

These guys are fast and efficient. I didn't have to show them where the loading dock was at my apartment, they just showed up at the door, and started moving things right away. I was impressed by how quickly they did everything, and they really made the effort to be careful with the furniture. They brought plenty of blankets and tape to protect your items, and made the move easy and stress-free for me. These guys are absolute professionals, and you can't beat the price. I will definitely use them again for my next move.
