Long-distance move from Coronado, CA to Gig Harbor, WA

NIGHTMARE of a company.

This is a complete JOKE of a company. THIS HAS BEEN AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE.

1. They broke our elevator.

2. They charged 2.5X the price AFTER they moved all our stuff.

3. They took 3 hours longer to move (6 hours total)

4. They never gave us an invoice

5. They did not pick up the phone for 4 days.

6. The manager, Carla, gave us the wrong mover/dispatch

7. The driver got "food poisoning"

8. The truck "had mechanical problems"

9. The move was 3 days late.

On top of this, its $3,000 more than they quoted us.

UNBELIEVABLE , how does a company like this exist?

Extremely Rude Customer Service!!

Once they get your money and pick up your stuff, you are at their mercy. Their customer service people are extremely rude and will not offer to help you at all. Tatiana, Lupe and Ben are the worse and will talk over you and will not listen to anything you are trying to tell them. Their sales rep will quote you a really low price but the cost is actually not even a fraction of what you will pay. Avoid this company! I would have given them negative stars if it was possible.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Grand Rapids, MI

Bait and switch.

Got quoted $1269 with all of my inventory listed. Turns out to be $2000 the day of, and they would keep my deposit Of $300 if I cancelled due to the big price increase.

It took 3.5 weeks for my stuff to arrive, and it came in an Enterprise truck. The movers were just random dudes. Most boxes were squished. One was completely open.

Scam of a company. Clearly they are just brokers and then farm out the drive and move.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Buffalo, NY

Super scammers.

Same as everyone else, customer service is nice and gives you one price then the come and pack your stuff and it doubles. I had a problem with delivery where They kept trying to bring the truck earlier than our contractually agreed upon date. The date on the contract is when I was officially the new owner of the house. How was I supposed to get access sooner? What’s the point of a contract if they don’t adhere to it and this is besides them doubling the quoted price!!

Save yourself the trouble.

Please please please don’t use these people. The reviews are totally right!! They charge you something totally different than on the contract, customer service is crappy have to call 3 x to get someone, broke my couch legs so have to file a claim, all of the boxes were damaged. Moving is stressful enough without having to worry about your items being destroyed and all of the problems this place brings. When you first call to make a reservation the people are nice and helpful but as soon as they get the deposit you’re stuck and everything totally switches. Please people these reviews are not lying, save yourself the trouble and find a reputable company.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Franklin, TN

They lie about everything.

From the day I booked this company to move my stuff from California to Tennessee it’s been nothing but major miscommunications. No matter how thoroughly I went over my contracts read my contracts and ask the right questions I was blatantly lied to about the pick up date. I was for a pick up date then they canceled didn’t bother calling me to tell me and came the following day. I was told that my 10 to 14 day window started on the day they picked up my belongings. Now I’m finding out that that’s not true it starts the day that I told them I’d arrive in TN. So now I’m waiting even longer for my belongings. I’m also finding out now that I will probably have to pay an additional fee for a shuttle service. Also A fee I was told I would not incur. They told me they have all of their own trucks. They don’t they showed up in rental trucks. I was told they hire all their own in-house drivers and movers. They do not they sent a bunch of random people over who had no idea who was going to be driving my belongings. They told me they don’t pass my things on to a different truck. Now I’m finding out that they’re waiting for a random trucking company to pick my stuff up so it’s getting shuffled around even more. And of course this is all my fault even though I read my contract thoroughly and asked thorough questions whenever I didn’t understand something. What these people don’t know is that I’m very familiar with the trucking industry. So they can’t continue to tell me that I don’t understand what I’m talking about. I was also told the reason that they have nothing but bad reviews it’s the customers fault every single one of them. Because they’re mad that they don’t get things their way. Wrong this is an unprofessional company that tells people whatever they want to hear just to get the money. If I could go back and hire someone else I could but I can’t now my stuff is sitting in a warehouse with this shady company who’s lied to me about every single logistic from the beginning just to get paid and I just have to hope my stuff gets here undamaged or gets here at all. Terrible customer service. The first time I called him to find out where my movers were. And incredibly snarky nasty woman refused to even look at my contract to help me figure out where my movers were. She just kept saying over and over again and I quote the “movers are coming tomorrow nobody’s going to help you I’m not letting you talk to a supervisor good day sir” I tried to explain to her that there was a mistake made and I needed my stuff to be moved that day. She didn’t care she just hung up on me. Again I’m very familiar with the trucking industry I had an uncle who is a trucker. And a family that works in construction and had to deal with truckers bringing stuff across the country on a daily basis. This company is completely unprofessional and don’t let them lie to you and tell you that the reason they have a ton of bad reviews is because all of their customers don’t know what they’re talking about. It’s because they are entitled arrogant and I don’t give a crap about their customers. Do not use this company.

Long-distance move from California to Illinois

Contract failure.

I booked a pickup on July 16 for a move on July 29-30, variable dates at their request. Paid the required deposit. With an early reservation discount. They failed to notify me of their planned no-show. I called to dispatch on date before scheduled date, and new date provided. We were supposed to be at destination now before new confirmed date !!

But dates postponed 3X more with us waiting at pickup to supervise and pay. Finally THEY canceled, told us once more they could provide a guaranteed date AGAIN, 2 weeks after initial confirmed booking But refund issued, and most of our items still in origin storage at our expense in September.

Very unapologetic and rude!! Told we could find someone else if not happy (after their first no-show), or refund deposit. I paid for airfare for relative to fly out to help load and drive out of state and hotel room, not refundable. So I am out several $hundreds and no move complete.

Do not hire!!

Zero stars if possible. Do not work with this company. They will not honor their timeline. They were scheduled to pick up on 9/5, told us the day before they won't be able to pick up until 9/6, and then on 9/6 they told us they will not deliver until 9/8. They were completely unapologetic and said this is how they do business, and it would be up to us to find new movers for the same day.

Moving state to state.

This company is the worst. Suckered is into just signing paperwork and then broke so many items in the move. We now have no recourse because they said they didn’t pack the boxes. We packed them very well but watched them just toss and shove them into place on the truck. The best packing in the world would not have stopped this. I would do anything but use these crooks again.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Maple Valley, WA

Worst Moving Experience EVER!

Chose this company based on Customer Rep. JOHN JONES, which I now realize is probably an alias as after the move he NEVER returned my calls. As other bad reviews mention, John estimated my move of a one bedroom apartment as 462 cu. ft (3234 lbs) and I was given a discounted price of $1494 to move from Los Angeles, CA to Maple Valley, WA.

Movers showed up on August 11 and foreman reviewed my apartment furniture and boxes and gave me a NEW ESTIMATE of $3800, almost 3x the estimate! The man was VERY RUDE and told me "take it or leave it" as the original estimate from John Jones was based on cubic footage and I had many more items. When I told him that I was going to report him to the Better Business Bureau, he told me that you cannot report a business if you don't use them! I gtried to call John Jones multiple times with no response or call back!

Anyway, we had no choice and could not begin the search for another mover, so we signed the new agreement and proceeded. This very rude man left and a very nice crew of 4 proceeded to load our stuff on to a medium sized van. Little did we now that our stuff would later be transferred (obviously very roughly) to a full-sized moving truck, During this transfer (which we did not witness) it is obvious that the furniture and boxes were thrown from truck to truck as both furniture and boxes were damaged.

Original estimate was delivery in 3-5 days, then changed to 5-7 days, then 7-10 days and finally stuff arrived on 8-26 (picked up on 8-11)foratotalof15days. 4 man crew doing the unloading in Maple Valley was very professional and handled things carefully but it was obvious from the split open boxes that there would be breakage. 2 woobviousod tables and 1 wood chair were broken (I did the repairs myself rather than deal with State to State). Although boxes with glass were well-packed and marked as FRAGILE, it is obvious that no care was taken and many dishes, glasses, cups and plates were broken. Fortunately, nothing irreplaceable but still disappointed in the lack of caution.

I would advise anyone to stay away from these movers. They are disreputable, use bait-and-switch tactics, and do not tell the truth.

Long-distance move from Costa Mesa, CA to Grand Prairie, TX

Ca to TX move.

This is my 13th move. Before State to State, I only had one bad experience with a moving company. I also had the known State to State "surprise" increase in the cost of the move on moving day! Then there was the "good guy-bad guy" game where the office "bad guy"on the phone wanted to raise the price almost 4 times and the "good guy" driver only 2.5. times.

Once the goods were picked up, there was no return communication from the company. towards the end of the 21 day guarantee, I reached their office and was told my move would be Sunday or Monday. It was not and that same scenario happened 3 more times. Finally, 22 business days after the due date, the truck arrived, but no crew! The driver worked very long and hard to unload himself. We are missing a couple of boxes; one a new valuable kitchen blender that was in the original box. I haven't the patience to call and be lied to anymore. This was a "painful" move. As an experienced mover, stay away from these people, They are very dishonest.

The whole process was a scam - never confirmed a quote in writing, charged 3,000 more than originally quoted, they packed my house and managed to break my table, my printer and other items and now want to refund me $54 dollars - I sustained $1,200 dollars of losses. Not to mention the worse customer service, worse coordination. These people should be out of business.

This is the most unprofessional company. Were over a day late and sent too small a truck, were told another truck would arrive next day. Quote was 5000 and ended up over 11 000. And can not even call a number that is answered. At this point, from hotel room, have no idea when the other truck will come.

One of the worst customer service I got from "State to State Logistics" it took them over a month to deliver my stuff. They originally gave me the estimate of $2600, and when they packed and brought all the stuff from 1st floor to ground then they claim it is too much and they will charge $6000 and finally they agreed for $5000. This is how they make money, and if you talk to customer service name Peter do not believe.

State-to-State Logistics interstate moving experience.

The worst company and service I have ever encountered in any profession. Office people are the rudest "customer service" workers I have ever dealt with. They charged me $4000 over the "final" quote the broker had given me and I was trapped after they had loaded since my house had been sold and I needed to be out that day. My Cross-Country Moving Group original brokers subcontracted with them and even they said State-to-State office people are rude. That being said, I could even deal with rudeness (they hung up on me and then on my daughter when we were trying to find out about delivery from California to Illinois). They did not give any clarity about the moving time and then subcontracted at least twice. My things finally arrived with glass smashed and left in the china cabinet, valuable 100 year old rocking chair and child's rocker broken apart and delivered that way, dining room chairs legs and backs cracked, iron base of a patio table broken in half (how does one break iron?), bureau legs broken, china closet top cracked, base of entry table broken, and at least 15 other breaks or cracks which are so numerous, I won't even go into detail. The local movers, who seemed as though they had been contracted with the day before, said they had never seen anything like it. State-to-State, out of Canoga Park, is should not have a business license. They treat customers, especially senior ones, with disdain and incompetence. Nothing in this review is exaggerated. In fact, it is understated, if anything. NEVER ALLOW THIS COMPANY TO STORE OR MOVE YOUR THINGS.

Missing items, poor communication, and little customer care

I contracted State to State in June 2020, got our items picked up in July, and our delivery happened overall in August. We paid much more than our quote, and most importantly, we were missing critical items and our delivery included items that did not belong to us, AND we have been strung along for the last 3 months on the hope that our items will actually reach us.

First, a red flag that I will most certainly look for going forward is the email for the contact for our move is NOT the same company (Elk moving and storage in email, state to state is whom we have contracted with) -- they claim to operate with State to State but not using the same name because they are the in-state service, so this seems shady.

Second, while our quote was lower because we did not anticipate as many boxes as we ended up having, we paid double what we were quoted. This seems unreasonable to a fault, but we understood given there was some estimation error on our part.

Most importantly was the delivery and the communication after delivery. The delivery clearly was done in a haphazard way, given they had multiple people's items in the truck and left us with things that did not belong to us and we were missing parts of furniture and boxes, some that have items of sentimental value and are irreplaceable. It has been more than 3 months since that delivery, and our head mover (Adam) have been telling us that they will get the missing items, which are in storage but no requested photos have been given to us to indicate this, and we have gotten no help in filing claims for missing items that they have acknowledged have not reached us.

This has been stressful and time consuming for the last 3 months for myself and my partner, and we are very concerned about hiring movers again after this experience.

Cancelled the night before my Move Date

We had a horrific experience with this company. We contracted them to pick up our items on 11/7/20. Everything was confirmed and paid by us. Then on the night of 11/6, a few hours before the pickup next day, they call to say the can’t come until a week later. They were cold and did not apologize and told me the contract I signed didn't obligate them to come on the stated date (shady legal terminology in the fine print). We were horrified and our moved was canceled. We had to change flights and get addition hotel room nights, everything was in chaos because of this company. They contract out the moving services and cannot guarantee anything and write it into their contract to protect themselves so you cannot sue them or hold them liable. Please be warned and stay away from using this company.

Worst experience ever

I am still traumatized from using this company. I was first quoted $3500. After my stuff was loaded I was told $8500. I told them to give me my stuff back and was told they’d charge $1800 to unload the truck. (I wish I would of called the cops to get them involved at that moment). I only agreed to go along with that if I got my stuff in 10 business days. I was originally told 10-21 days total. Once everything was load they informed me those were BUSINESS days. Over a month later I finally received my belongings. I had personally bought mattress bags and bagged them myself. None of my mattresses were in bags. They drove through a storm and my belongings were soaked. Resulting in 3 mattresses being ruined. My mirrors and TVs were bubble wrapped and boxed when they went took my stuff. But wasn’t that way when delivered. I guess I can say I’m grateful that more stuff wasn’t damaged and I did actually get my stuff. I had already started to believe I’d never see my stuff again. My poor children were so depressed as well. Having to do online school on the ground with nothing in their house. Their teachers giving them tasks telling them to “use things around the house” and them responding to their class they didn’t have anything in their home. Still at least grateful to have a roof over our heads. Worst experience ever! I wish I would of just gotten a uhaul and done it myself.

The worst moving company ever. Should be made to shut down

Don't arrive when scheduled. Quotes one price then adds additional fees holding your items until the additional payment is agreed. The female Customer Service Rep was very disrepectful.

Delivers precious non-replaceable items to you broken and smashed. and the delivery driver will seem so concerned and recommends filing a claim. Then finds all false reasons not to honor a claim. sent an $18.00 adjustment summary on a $2000.00 claim.

Huge dishonest scammers

Beware of this company! They drove a full truck of my stuff from CA to Fl and not only did they show up LATE, but whatever they didn't steal, they broke! I had some new pieces of furniture, never used, that when received in FL they were all banged up and broken. The lowlife driver held my items for ransom & said they wouldn't unload unless I went and bought them all coffee & bagels & donuts! Of course when called the office to complain, all I got was Oh too bad! And the co that insures them, Anthem Claims Management LLC, is also dishonest.
