Bait and Switch - Overcharging & Aggressive Handling.

I spoke with sales representative, Tom Parker, at State to State Logistics more than 5 weeks before our scheduled move. While selling the services of his company, Mr. Parker calculated an estimate for me based on cubic footage. He told me that it would cost $4.76 per cubic foot to transport our belongings to our final destination. He NEVER told me that the final cost would actually be based on weight, nor did the issue of weight even come up during our conversations. The written estimate shows both a cubit foot estimate as well as average weight, but since he emphasized cubit feet and this was the first time I'd used a moving service, I didn't catch the potential for issue. Throughout the packing process I was paying careful attention to cubic footage and had an accurate measurement given most of or belongings were boxed. We measured our belongings to be 538 cubic feet.

On the day of pick-up, the movers rushed me through the paperwork (which was almost unlegible). They were in a rush.. toward the end they became very aggressive in the handling of boxes which resulted in some falling to the ground. (Later in the day we also found out that they had accidentally loaded two chairs from the apartment lobby that belonged to the apartment and not us.) Then AFTER all of our belongings were on the truck they told me that the weight was 7000lbs, almost double of what the estimate showed (they calculate average weight to be 7 lbs per cubic foot) so their final bill ended up being $4,740.57. If truly based on cubic feet, the charge should have been $2,560.88 plus a 9% fuel charge of $230.01 for a total of $2790.89. I immediately began calling Tom Parker, the sales representative but he was never available, nor did he call me back.

Me being sleep deprived and the movers being in a rush, I with great regret, signed the paperwork they put before me. I did ask to make a notation on their paperwork about the price/estimate discrepancy but the man in charge, David, would not allow me to. Instead he gave me a form to fill out with the company name on it that said, "Referral Letter," and said he would give it to his supervisor. I was never shown anything that proved our cargo was 7000 lbs, nor was it noted on the "Summary of Charges" section of the "Bill of Lading."

I called the company a total of 17 times the day of pick-up. I was never connected with Tom Parker or anyone that could help me. All I could do was leave a message. In one message I even asked them to turn the truck around and return my belongings. I emailed Tom Parker with no response. In yet another call to the company I asked for a manager and was given the name of Robert Weiss. The receptionist said he was not in but could leave a message for him to call me. He never called. I also emailed him and forwarded my previous email to Tom Parker about the dispute. There still has been no communication from State to State Logistics after a total of 19 phone calls and 3 emails.
Our belongings have not yet been delivered. The company requests the final payment to be in cash, which should raise eyebrows. But we are at their mercy now that they are in possession of our belongings.

BEWARE of this company! The shady business practices and poor customer service is outrageous; I feel taken advantage of and helpless. I will be filing a complaint with FMCSA ( Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the DOT and the Better Business Bureau.

Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Leesburg, VA

Very professional and on time.

First time using moving with a professional moving service (going from CA to VA). We initially underestimated how much we had, but they were able to accommodate us no problem. On the day of the move they showed up right on time and got all our stuff in under 2 hours. When we got to VA we were able to contact our driver and find out our stuff would arrive only a few days after we did. Very professional staff packed and unpacked everything and set up our furniture no hassle. Would totally recommend to a friend.

Worst Moving Company EVER.

I wanted to update my review and let you know that this company reached out to me for my poor review and then did nothing and did not follow through to fix any of their mistakes. I DO NOT trust this company.I moved from CA to Washington DC, they arrived late, they broke multiple items, damaged my bed frame. The customer service is rude, in fact when they showed up late they yelled at me. It is ridiculous. The worst part is there ARE hidden FEES, they last minute told us they coudlnt bring the truck into DC we had to rent a uhal and get all of our stuff out of their truck on the side of the road in Maryland. I thought it was a joke, but it wasn't this company is absolutely terrible.

PLEASE Don't Do It!!

I spoke and emailed with Tom Parker, Senior Moving Coordinator, on several occasions PRIOR to signing the contract with State to State Logistics and he was always nice and customer focused. Once the contract was signed, I called and emailed him several times to check on the status of my delivery and he replied ZERO times. Once I got my delivery, 8 days later, I realized that one of my plastic containers was missing (the other one had glass dishes, which I told the drivers at the time of pickup, but they stacked stuff on top anyway and broke a few bowls (see attached pic). The containers were brand new). I've called several times to speak with ANYBODY, but no one pics up, nor do they return my phone calls. I've called the dispatch person, Dianna, and the driver and no one wants to help locate my clothes. I have ALL of my coats in the container and it is now raining! Stores are closed and my only alternative is to buy ANOTHER ONE online. Unfortunately, I had so much going on for this 1,100 mile move that I overlooked checking past reviews, but I wish I had. These reviewers are not lying!!

Horrible movers do NOT use.

My quote was DOUBLED after I was at their mercy -they have this trick they use - they take all your belongings outside and while it’s all sitting outside on the street they tell you it’s TWICE AS MUCH to the tune of $4000. But that is not the worst of it. I was promised a delivery day of July 1. That didn’t happen.. when my things finally arrived all of my boxes were CRUSHED. It was as if they threw them against a wall and then ran them over with a truck. They were destroyed! All my lamps were broken. Dishes broken. When we finally got thru the unpacking process we realized we didn’t even get all of our boxes. So many things didn’t make it to the house. Oh and did I forget to mention I was promised 4 workers to unload the truck and I got TWO. It took the entire day. Icing on the cake?? The driver yelled and screamed at me over and over and said “why do I have to talk to a woman” and then he slept in the truck all day and did not move ONE THING. Please people. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Worst experience of my life. And all for the exceedingly high price of $4000. The owner told me he owns five houses. So I’m assuming that is where all of my money went. Not even one star. Negative 100 stars.

Long-distance move from Hermosa Beach, CA to Saint James City, FL

Such a fraudulent company!!

Let me just begin by saying if you want to hire a company that overpays, looses half of your belongings and has rude employees this is your company! I have So many negative things to say about this fraudulent company! First off what they quoted us over the phone vs what it was, was a 1000$ difference! And took almost 2 months to get our things as well as loosing our motorcycle in the process! We had to file a police report and everything! Our stuff was damaged and we finally got the motorcycle after I had enough and harassed them! Stay far away from this company! Your better off selling your stuff and starting over or driving yourself making sure everything gets to you! If I could rate this company a -5 I would! One star is pushing it!

Long-distance move from Irvine, CA to Sandpoint, ID

Doubled Price and took forever- GO ELSEWHERE.

I gave an itemized list plus sent pictures but when the guys showed up in ended up being double my original bid. And I felt like I was really up front in what I was shipping. I even sent the an email when I added a couple of boxes. At that point it was too late to start over although I should have. I was having items shipped from CA to Idaho and they milked it to the very end. They arrived at 4pm on the last day of the contract period before they were in default. I waited weeks.

Several items were damaged (broken table that they had packed) and our bikes were really scratched up. My patio furniture had tape on it (them again) so when I unpacked it the finish was pulled off.

And best of all I ended up with somebody else's artwork. I sent them an email with pictures telling them so but of course they never got back to me. Guess they figure the other person will just file a claim or something. Artwork photo attached (if it is yours).

Horrible Moving Company.

Horrible moving company, would rate zero if I could. Boxes came crushed with over 5k in broken or damaged furniture. Called multiple times and they don’t care about anything. Stay away. Used Sawgrass for moving my whole house who brokered them and now I have to refurbish a whole house again, stuff wasn’t even a year old. Will be seeking legal actions if items are not replaced. Would attach gallery of photos if I could.

Mover beware, DO Not hire this company

This company will rip you off, they hold your belongings for ransom, damage every thing you own and then won't give you enough to take the damaged stuff to the dump and a $2,300 move of 400 miles ended up costing $5,500 and the total cost with damage and missing property was over $20,000, my dumping costs were much higher than their offer,

and the arbitration company doesn't even want to deal with this company.

I would not give them any stars but you have to at least mark 1 star. This companies settlement offer would not have been enough money to cover the amount of time it took to do the claim forms and the 148 photos of damage. what they offered is nothing more than an insult and they can stick it where the sun does not shine. If you get a call from cross country moving group or state to state logistics do your self a favor and just hang up.
