I had originally sent a deposit over Zelle to Standard Van Lines in July 2021…after doing a little more research I found a cheaper alternative and cancelled my reservation within the terms of the contract and was sent a confirmation I would be refunded my deposit. After countless unanswered phone calls and emails I had posted reviews about my negative experience when I was immediately contacted by the company threatening to withhold my deposit for the reviews and I removed them all. I was then finally sent a check at the end of October with directions to contact their customer service department which I did and was told to wait at least 2 hours before depositing. Upon trying to deposit my refunded deposit check at Bank of America where I am also a customer they informed me the account had already been closed for several weeks. Bank of America then opened a fraud case against Standard Van Lines but unfortunately this company is aware of all the loopholes with using Zelle. I have also filed complaints with US DOT, FBI internet crimes, West Palm Beach Police department and FTC. I will most likely never get my deposit back but I am lucky I did not keep my reservation and potentially lost all of my belongings as well.

I made a reservation and decided to cancel it just a few hours later - well within the allowed time for a refund. From here, I'm going gloss over the hilarity behind repeated calls over and over until I picked up, harassed for a reason why I'm cancelling, and hearing a voice in the background "coaching" I guess, but really the guy was just criticizing me. Really, it was amazing.

Shortly after being hung up on when they realized I really really am canceling, I got an email from customer service saying I'd have a refund in 30 business days. That was toward the end of November, and still nothing. My emails and calls have not been answered. So I'll update here for everyone if I do get my deposit back; however it seems I'm going to be following in the footsteps of others and sending this to my lawyer / filing a complaint everywhere possible.

Lessons learned: Read more reviews, and never give a deposit that's not on a credit card.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3388

This company is complete garbage. I spoke with Dustin Ross about my move and he told me that it would cost $3000, that I could add up to 500 additional pounds of inventory without the cost going up, and that the movers would disassemble and then reassemble my furniture (including bed and kitchen table).

Well, all of that was a lie. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DUSTIN ROSS, HE IS A SCAM ARTIST.

The movers showed up a week late. By the time the made it, I had already moved and had to have a friend there to oversee the pickup. The movers showed up, loaded everything, and left. She did not sign any documents. Then the next day, I got a bill for DOUBLE the initial quote.

This was on January 4, 2022, and I still don't have my stuff (today is January 20). I have been trying to work something out with the carrier since they're the one who have my belongings. I spoke with Standard Van Lines several times, and they were enormously unhelpful and rude (especially Angelica). Essentially telling me that this was no longer their problem.

They are only in it to get your deposit, and they will sell you lies to get it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I have filed a federal complaint against them, which is currently pending. I highly suggest others who have had issues with Standard Van Lines do the same. Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6000

We were promised experienced movers with “White Glove” treatment.Uspro Movers showed up-They had a 26’ truck. no moving pads, other items already in the truck. we had 2 full 10x15’ storage units. USPRO lied to us re: business, wouldn't provide ID or business lic. We sent them away. Standard would not return calls or email and just stole our $, Never apologized or tried to provide another mover. I ended up reporting them to VENMO and US PRO to the DOT. - THIS IS THE FINAL EMAIL I SENT TO STANDARD WITH NO RESPONSE - I sent the below email to you 5 days ago. I have not received any acknowledgement that this is under review.

At this point I am questioning whether your business is a legitimate business conducted to help people during the move of their property from one point to another.

I have contacted the Venmo Customer Service to let them know of this potential fraud.

I am in the process of filing a Police Report with the Nashville Police Department (where the theft of our property was attempted and the address associated with the Venmo account you were paid from), the Raleigh, NC Police Department (where the moving truck is from and the USpro moving company is registered as a business and has an address) and the West Palm Beach, FL Police Department (where the address of your business on the contract is located).

If I do not hear back from you regarding some type of solution to this issue, I am going to notify the Better Business Bureau in all 3 states.

I also plan on giving those police reports to the Federal Department of Commerce, the Department of Transportation and The Fraud Department of the United States Department of Justice.

This crime encompasses several states – Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina and utilizes intrastate commerce.

At this point I am still hoping that your company is not involved in this crime and that I will not have to pursue further paths and possible litigation.

I would like a fair resolution to this issue. I am willing to spend money for the prosecution of this crime. I am not going to drop the theft of my money.

I would hate to think other people may fall for this scheme and it would not sit well with me to know I sat back and did nothing to try to curb this possibility

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1800

Our contract was sold to another Trucking firm. Brooklyn Trucking. During our discussions we were assured pick up would be a specific day. Instead and due to their inability to schedule their trucks appropriately and as promised, we incurred an extra night of costs in a hotel. Instead of Sunday pickup, it was Monday. They also promised their arrival would be in the morning but instead, they showed up at 5 pm. We were originally quoted a cost of $2,185 but instead were hit with $5K+ moving costs by the salesman/mover you sent. Also were told If they can't fit a 50Ft+ truck on our street, $550 more will incur. i will assure you the street is spacious enough. This is the worse case of incompetence and unprofessionalism I have ever experienced. Treating customers like this is wrong. Being dishonest is worse. I will not recommend your firm to anyone for future or any moves. I will also be contacting the BBB as well as posting this experience on Facebook which I am sure you know is a major forum for these type things. James Bales

HORRIBLE experience.... IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE YOUR MONEY STOLEN OR BE OVERCHARGED THEN STAY AWAY.

We had a move scheduled for Thursday, September 30th, as we had to close on October 4th for the sale of our home. Unfortunately the moving company knew this, and therefore we were caught between a rock and a hard place. The day of the move, we got a call after them being already late, stating that they couldn't come because the truck broke down (of course it did). They offered to schedule a move sometime the next week around the 6th. That date would NOT work as we were scheduled to close on the 4th, and we couldn't leave everything in the house! In addition to that, were doing a cross country move from NH to TX and couldn't stay any longer in NH.

We asked for our deposit of $1300 back if they couldn't be there prior to our close as they had agreed to from the onset, due to our being locked in for dates. The lady said that because WE were cancelling the service and because we transferred with Zelle we couldn't get our deposit back. That was completely untrue, as WE DIDN'T cancel, they couldn't uphold their end of the contract.

We will be DISPUTING and filling a complaint with the BBB, putting it all over social media, and making sure that this isn't just another dollar they get to steal from just another simp.

I canceled my move on August 12, well within the 72 hour contract period. I was told on numerous occasions by numerous people that my request for a refund was reviewed and that my check was in the mail.

I was told this no less than five times. It is two months later, clearly more than ample time to obtain my refund. Now they are citing contract language informing me that they can cancel my refund if I say negative things about them before they have had a chance to review my case.

It has been two months!!! They do not return phone calls or emails and threaten me with harsh language.

This company is a SCAM!! Beware! Do not conduct business with them.
