Long-distance move from Hamilton, ON to Miramichi, NB

Do Not Use!

This company had made our move out to new brunswick a terrible experience. We had first started emailing jeff smith at the beginning of may with a list of our items(exact) and 2 quotes were given to us, expedited and non expedited. My husband and I decided to go with the non expedited due to the cost of moving and that there was a difference of almost $2500 in price. We were willing to wait the extra allotted time, which in emails, was stated it would be 10 days from pick up. Our quote for non expedited service was $2290. At that point we gave a $700 deposit. He then responded by email on May 22, stating we owe $3580.19 for expedited service. I then responded by email, and later by phone, that we were getting the non expedited service. on may 23, jeff responded stating that we owe 1933.50 for the non expedited service. On may 31 I e transferred another $1000, which would have left a balance of $933.50 that was to be paid on pick up. The movers were supposed to come on the 25th of june. Then was stated that they would be there on the 28th of june @ 1pm. When I called at 1pm, jeff stated that they were 3 hrs away and probably could not make it that say and would be there first thing in the morning on saturday. keep in mind, that we were supposed to be on the road, heading for our new house in new bruswick saturday morning. The movers showed up at 11am on saturday, and by the time they were complete, it was 3:30pm. The driver of the truck stated that jeff smith claimed we owed him $2580 and that the quote and square footage did not change. I proceeded to explain that I only owed $933.50 (as stated by jeff in email) therefor I did not pay at that point. On july 2nd, jeff smith emailed me stating to contact him. This was 8am in the morning. When I phoned him, he stated that it may be to late to get our furniture now, and that we owed him $2580 for the expedited service. I continuously explained that it was in email from myself and him that I was to be getting the non expedited service and that I absolutely do not owe that much. He then continued to explain reasons that did not make sense as to why it was expedited service now and that if I didn't pay, they were going to take all my things off the truck, occur more charges and that I would see my thing at the end of the month. I have an young child who needed furniture and a suitable home to be living in. I proceeded to pay the $2580 and my things came later that day. Within the quote it stated that furniture was to be disassembled and reassembled. Nothing was reassembled and some of my things were broken. This move has been the most stressful encounter ever. The fact that I had to pay the $2580 of extra expense, I needed to borrow money in order to live.Not to mention the fact that I am 7 months pregnant and absolutely not healthy. I have filed a report with all this information to the RCMP of Moncton, new brunswick and they informed me that if there were others out there that were a victim of Jeff smith, to please call them and file a report. They said if there were others out there with similar situation and that they can see a pattern with him, they will proceed with criminal charges. Also, if anyone has an actual address as to where Jeff smith can be contacted, please email me. I have filed a case with the small claims court.

Long-distance move from Prince Edward Island to Ontario

Broken Furniture, Awful Service!

I just recently used this service to move a few items from my parents house in P.E.I to my house in Ontario. Jeff seemed kind at first, albeit a bit busy, and difficult to get a hold of, but after that things went downhill.

I was quoted about $2,000 but then they added $500 to the price when they picked up the furniture, even though I gave them detailed list of everything that was being transported.

I was told our things would arrive between the end of October to the beginning of November. They arrived at the end of November, and half of the furniture was broken!

Two arms for dining chairs were broken completely off, 3/4 legs from a side table were broken off, scratches, and chunks of wood missing from our dining table.

It said they were insured up to $25,000, but when I went to make a claim, Jeff said it was a problem with the material of my furniture. They were perfect when picked up, and broken when arrived.

DO NOT USE if you would like your things intact!

Long-distance move from Ontario to Prince Edward Island

Seamless long distance move

We submitted a request for quotes for our move from Ottawa Area to Prince Edward Island and received many that were low and based on a three bedroom apartment not a three bedroom house. Smart Movers Atlantic emailed and took the time in the initial email to explain pricing and how it works and even offered a fillable cube sheet to give a more accurate quote. We were impressed with the upfront response to our request so went ahead a booked.

Jeff was always quick to respond to any emails I sent and was able to accommodate my pick up and delivery dates without hesitation or having to worry about storage or being without my things for extended periods of time.

The movers called a day ahead of arrival to confirm pick up time and came as a team of three and did a walk through of the house and made sure they knew exactly what was to come and what was to stay. They worked tirelessly only breaking for lunch. After a full days work (12 hours almost) they had everything packed. They originally booked a big truck only to accommodate but ended up needing to use a smaller truck as well and did so without thinking twice even though it was my own fault for miscalculating how much stuff and space was needed. They didn’t blame me or get frustrated or mad they just went along with it no problem. Having that day go so smoothly relieved a lot of stress from me and I am truly grateful.

Delivery was just as smooth. There was legal delays of a day with regards to closing and Jeff rescheduled my delivery date no problem. All my stuff arrived in the exact condition it was packed in with zero broken pieces or boxes….and that is saying alot because we had a TON of stuff!! We also had a few big pieces like a riding lawn mower and a hot tub and such care was taken to ensure safe delivery. The team of three again was efficient in working and placed everything exactly where I needed it which made unpacking so much easier! All furniture that was disassembled was reassembled and they had such respect for my house and belongings.

I can’t say enough good things about everyone involved with my move (Jeff, Louis, Chris…and other two gentleman whose names escape me at the moment). Everyone was kind and had a positive attitude the whole way through which made things so much nicer and stress free for me which after a long, hard process of moving across the country was appreciated again more than words can say. Highly recommend
