I was so happy with every part of my experience with Smart Movers. They were the only company that called me after sending a quote, and Jeff explained every part of the quote and asked if I had any other questions. When I was ready to set the date, we arranged times and pickup/drop off and they accommodated my needs, as I was going to be out of town for a few days. The movers themselves were quick and professional, and protected my furniture and belongings. Everything arrived perfectly and the drop off was easy and quick. Thank you so much for making my relocation easy and worry-free!

On November 31st, the Smart Moving team arrived in Midland, ON to pack our condo belongings, We were very impressed at the professional techniques used to protect and document the items to be moved. Two days later, the team arrived in eastern Nova Scotia and in an afternoon, the whole array of items located were in our new home. There wasn't any damage to the transported materials; not so much as a chip out of a glass! We were very impressed with the efficiency and thorough protection applied to our belongings. Furthermore, the team were prefect gentlemen in dealing with us - their clients. We highly recommend this company and their teams for an efficient and moderately priced service. Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7900

Jeff and his team at Smart Movers were great. I used their online form to determine how many cubic feet of items I had and it was very accurate. The team who came to pick up my items in Windsor, ON were very quick and professional. About a week later my items arrived in Halifax, NS. The team in Halifax kept me informed of what time my delivery would be. The team was once again quick and professional, laying out runners to protect the floor and moved all of my items into the rooms I wanted them in. All of my items arrived and nothing was broken. One thing to note is that there is a $45 charge for every floor above the 2nd floor. So just take that additional cost into account if you are moving into/ out of a high rise building. I would definitely recommend Smart Movers and will use them when I move again!

Jeff Smith and his young crew of polite and efficient movers moved my mother from her 1 bed apartment to her retirement home room and they were very professional and took great care of her paintings and belongings. They are good people, very trustworthy. I will use Smart movers Atlantic whenever a need arises again. I highly recommend you give them a call first and get a quote. You won't be disappointed! They take the stress out off your moving day !!

We moved from Toronto to Fredericton and drove the truck ourselves but needed help moving everything in to the top floor of a four storey building. Plenty of moving companies don't offer that service, but Smart Movers absolutely does for a very reasonable price. There were 3 guys and they were all very professional, courteous, polite, careful, and very efficient. It was a super smooth process and worth every penny. I would highly recommend them. Your team moved my mother to her apartment and moved me to her home that I purchased all in one weekend. Josh and his team were so patient, professional, kind and calm making both moves less stressful. They worked long hours to get both moves done by Sunday evening.

They were all committed to keeping the pets safe inside throughout the move making sure they were behind closed doors inside before opening the door to outside. We could not have asked for a better team to move us!

Used Jeff's Smart Movers for both my parents' and my own move from Fredericton to Moncton and since we're relatively new in NB, we never heard of them and we were initially worried if they're one of those who'd hold our stuff ransom but they turned out to be one of the best movers we've had. They have the best pricing and their movers, we used 2 teams and they were all amazing. They were careful with your stuff and they were efficient, hard working and professional. Accidents still happened but they did their best to resolve the problem with us. Other than this minor incident, both moves went very well. They even tried their best to place boxes in the appropriate rooms if you've labeled them. Most movers won't bother. The only one thing that could be vastly improved to make their service impeccable is their pre-move communications. I had to email Jeff quite a few times to reconfirm as we changed our dates and at times I thought they forgot about our moves. Other than this, we highly recommend Smart Movers and will use them again.

My move was from a large house to an apartment in a different province, some two hours driving distance. Smart Movers quoted an excellent price, showed up on time and the two packers/movers did a remarkable job, completing the packing and loading quickly, while ensuring that no damage occurred and nothing was overlooked - difficult when most of the house contents were remaining behind. I can't say enough about the professional approach and skill demonstrated by both. Delivery the next day was again accomplished in a very short period, and they could not have been more helpful, courteous or careful. I would not hesitate to recommend Smart Movers to anyone who is looking for an affordable, professional move.

After researching about seven companies, I chose Smart Movers and was incredibly happy I did. Jeff was a great communicator and managed to get us scheduled with last minute changes. Josh and his partner were on time and extremely easy to work with, an amazing group to have moved you I give them 100% recommendation. I am impressed not one item was broken or damaged in any way.

Thank you for a job well done and appreciated. I will use them again if I must move. The price was fair and reasonable. They were on time and delivered as promised.

We moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia and then returned back to Ontario a year later and I don’t know how we would have managed if it hadn’t been for Smart Movers Atlantic. During several of those months the contents of our whole house had to go into storage which Smart Movers were able to supply.

Our initial call with Jeff was very positive, he was informative and patient. He answered numerous questions and followed up in a timely manner. We were given dates and times which were always kept. On the day of the moves the crew would call us to let us know the approximate hour they would arrive.

We had never had to use storage facilities and were concerned what to expect after several months but our boxes and furniture were all wrapped and tagged and were delivered in the same condition as we gave them. I had created a manifest of all our items and everything arrived in mint condition.

We were amazed as to how respectful all the movers were, they handled our contents as if they were their own items. They were friendly, courteous and went beyond what we expected. They placed boxes and furniture where I requested and always asked where something should go if they weren’t sure. We have a collection of vinyl albums and the one mover noticed and said he would make sure they were stored in a safe location; they arrived in the same pristine condition not one album warped! You always expect there may be a few mishaps but were extremely surprised that throughout this whole ordeal not one item was damaged, not a scratch, not a dent!

We were so fortunate to find Smart Movers Atlantic, we had heard horror stories about other moving companies but this company gets the Gold Star for customer service and we highly recommend them!

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $14000

I contracted Totten's/Smart Movers to move my belongings from Ontario to Nova Scotia in August 2014. I sent Jeff a comprehensive list of the items to be moved, and in return received the following email: "Thank you David for the list . That makes things easier . I can guarantee you a price of $ 2350.00 based on this list , hst included . Pickup would be on the 30th in Courtice and delivery on the 2 of Sept in the Barrington area south shore NS . jeff SMART MOVERS / TOTTEN'S MOVERS Halifax 902-876-8364" The move on the 30th August was very late, they arrived after 7pm having collected from another house (and they were late so they said because the previous person had more goods than expected). When the driver told me this I asked him if what he was collecting from my address was more or less as expected and he said "pretty much as expected". As we had exchanged at midday the house was actually no longer mine and the new owners were around, therefore everything that was to me moved had already been carried into the garage or was in a room just off the front entrance, the movers didn't have to bring anything up or downstairs, it was all ready for them. It was after 2:30am when they were finally packed and left. They were picking up a third load in Montreal before heading back to Nova Scotia I was told. I then drove to Nova Scotia and on September 2nd after midday got a call from the truck driver saying that my goods would be arriving shortly. Not long after this I received the following text message from Jeff: "your final price David is $3965.50 plus hst for a grand total of $4559.75" Obviously I immediately called Jeff to query why my price was substantially more than his "guaranteed price" and was told that it was because my load was "over weight" and had therefore incurred more charges. Feeling somewhat forced into paying, if I didn't pay I assumed the truck would turn around, I foolishly paid by Visa. The truck arrived almost at dusk, and the unloading began. It was immediately apparent that, somewhere along the way, my goods had been rearranged and repacked, a bookcase was now right up at the top of the truck and actually hung over the legs of a desk, so that the back of the bookcase had come away and was damaged. A virtually new double mattress was also damaged, by two units that had been packed in such a way that their corners had obviously dug into the mattress with the movement of the journey and created holes in it. I took photographs of the damaged mattress and slo pointed it out to the driver, who dutifully marked it down on the delivery slip. I told them to take away the bookcase, it was badly damaged and despite calling Jeff it was obvious that, because it was pressed wood, they were going to do nothing more than offer $20 compensation which I felt was derisory. After they had left and as we started it sort out things it was evident that several other pieces of furniture were marked, not badly, but it was obvious that the movers hadn't exactly been careful. I contacted Jeff regarding the mattress that was damaged and instead of offering to replace it he arranged for a local upholsterer to come and repair it (I am still waiting). I have repeatedly asked for the weight slips and a comprehensive invoice that will justify the price increase but every request was met with silence or avoidance of the issue. When I finally sent this email: " Jeff, My patience is exhausted. I want a copy of your invoice along with a copy of the weight slip within the next week failing which I shall be handing this over to my lawyer." I received the following email from Jeff: "The fact is David you ripped the mattress not us . Both my employees witness you pulling on the mattress in order to get it up the much to small stair case with nails sticking out of the the wall and that's how it got snagged and ripped . WE dismantled sofas in order to get them through door ways and went above and beyond to satisfy you , in which we were happy to do. I apologized concerning the bookcase . It was unfortunate damage that should not have happen . I agreed to pay to have the mattress repaired as a trade off for the damaged book case that we were more than happy to repair but you requested we dispose of it , which we did. I requested your postal code from you in an email two weeks ago so I can send your modem to you . You have not provided one as of this date and I can't mail it without one . . As you are well aware you had much more volume than anticipated of which your final cost reflected . jeff TOTTEN'S MOVERS Halifax 902-876-8364 " I am currently proceeding to the small claims court. This company should be avoided at all costs.

NEVER USE SMART MOVERS!

If you have any issues it will be blamed on you and they do NOTHING to try to make your situation better!!

This company had brought 2 trucks to specifically load our outdoor basketball net and patio furniture. After loading, 3 hours to load, their truck broke down. They advised us it would be a quick fix. After not showing up 2 hours later, my 1 1/2 year old was melting down and since we had no furniture, I told them I would have to get a hotel room now and they’ll have to come in the morning. They said it had to be done that night because they had places to go the next day so I felt obligated to stay since there was no way they were going to pay for a hotel room for us because of the inconvenience they were causing us.

8pm is when they showed up and one of the movers was complaining about how much he’s over worked etc. They brought our queen size mattress in and forced it up our staircase and didn’t use moving blankets! They ripped the back in multiple places and after I advised them how to move it and to please use moving blankets, they successfully were able to get it up the stairs, but at 8 months pregnant, I helped because one of the movers was not listening to me.

They ended up NOT finishing the job because they didn’t even bring our outdoor gear and basketball net!

When speaking to the owner when they were completed and telling him how upset I was about the service, the terrible evening we had with our toddler because their truck broke down and they didn’t move our stuff onto another truck to render their issue, plus ripping our mattress that is less than 2 years old, he told me “it was my fault because my staircase was too narrow”!! I asked for him to replace it and discuss negotiations on the terrible service, inconvenience and ripped mattress and he refused. He yelled and swore at me on the phone and charged me fully with no accountability!!

I will NEVER use a moving company again, especially them! It’s too bad because one of their movers is too good to be working for such a terrible company.
