Shleppers Moving & Storage

The 96 inch couch was moved into the apartment approximately 40 years ago when it was legal to put the sofa on top of the elevator . Apparently it is illegal to use the elevator roof now . The superintendent of the building stated (repeatedly, categorically and arrogantly) that there is no way to get this sofa out. He re-stated several times that it must be destroyed ,”cut in half “ . He has seen this many times because it will not fit down the steps or in the elevator. He also claimed that there was a 3500 fee for moving out of the coop. I guess that is for his ignorant advice. I demanded written proof of this fee from him and the building manager and have yet to see it since demanding it 2 weeks ago. Anyway..

With prodding from me, because I refused to chop up my mothers antique sofa, the Shleppers called a supervisor to the site and they successfully removed the sofa via the steps . It was a second floor apartment, so just one flight. This was heroic to me because my mother left me this sofa and it was her mother’s sofa. So it was over 100 years old and irreplaceable.
Instead of listening to the super who really didn’t know the moving business the moving team called their supervisor who got the job done. I feel sorry for those who may have listened to the super in the past. Thank You Shleppers !

From the initial call to the final payment, these people were on top of everything. The employees were very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and concerns. I received several reminder calls and email and my calls were returned timely. The price they quoted was the price I paid. I was moving one room and it appeared that I was moving the whole apartment based on all the stuff I had and they didn’t even question it. The mover arrived on time and was extremely accommodating. We lived on the fifth floor of a walk up and they appeared not to even notice. They worked quickly and nothing was damaged. A++ service. I would definitely recommend.

My fiancé and I needed to move from Washington heights, NY to the upper east side. To start, booking their services is very easy. I made numerous changes to our agreement on what they were going to move for me and was always met with a positive attitude on the other end. The movers were polite, fast and efficient. One of the most impressive things was that they were able to navigate the narrow streets of my block on the upper east side and find parking with their truck. The movers placed everything where we wanted. We are extremely satisfied and would highly recommend shleppers to anyone who needs to move. They’re worthy every penny!

The movers were on time, and professional. They got everything I asked them to cleared out of the apartment and moved, and moved into the new one plus put together beds, cribs, and a sofa within 5 hours total. Pricing for the move was as expected and speed was good. Packing and unpacking is unpleasant, but Shleppers definitely didn't add any stress to the situation. I hope I don't need to move again anytime soon, but if I do, I would definitely use Shleppers again.

From a large house to a one bedroom apartment. I was overwhelmed and I was putting it off for the past six months. I happened to receive a card from Shleppers in the mail and I decided to call them. Bright and early in the morning when I saw Luis smiling face he put me at ease.He was extremely competent ,patient compassionate understanding, quick and careful with all my things. I was worried that my large electric bed would not fit in the elevator but he did everything with these. Luis And his partner were understanding patient competent,

I hired Schlepper's for my move. After living in my apartment for 40 years, they packed up all my belongings the day before my move. They were efficient and arrived when they were supposed to. The day of my move was extremely smooth. No hassles, nothing broken and very respectful people.
I would not hesitate to use them again if I move again in the future. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that needs a mover and does not want to experience aggravation.

I had to move everything out of my apt to renovate. The job was supposed to take two days- day one was packing everything and day two was the move itself. A team of three people showed up the first day and proceeded to throw all of my things into boxes. The kitchen items were wrapped well buy everything else was just thrown into boxes- clothes, shoes, medicines, toiletries, etc. No care at all. Even my deceased mom’s antiques were shoddily wrapped and thrown in boxes. I kept asking them to be more careful but they couldn’t care less. Then they left around 2p with only maybe 1/4 of the job completed. They came back the second day with an extra person to help (who didn’t wear any deodorant and stunk) and again proceeded to rush the packing. We were supposed to get to the new rental apt by 11a but they didn’t finish packing until after 8p! We had to beg the rental to allow us to use the freight elevator at 9p at night. Again, boxes were thrown around, my furniture was banged up, they mixed up what was going to storage and what was going to the rental apt, and they even left many items behind, including a large console. I took pictures but can’t upload them here. I spent thousands of dollars to Shleppers for the shoddiest move I ever experienced. I have so many more awful details to share but I can’t even stomach thinking about it any longer. I would advise anyone looking to move to stay far away from these people! I wish I would’ve known to do so before I hired them!

We hired Shleppers to move from one NYC apartment to another. I had heard good things about Shleppers, and we were impressed with how smooth everything went. It was easy to reach the main office and hire the team. The price was reasonable considering the excellent service. The moving team was on time, courteous, efficient, and very professional in the care they took in the move. Shleppers made the moving process far easier than we had anticipated. New York City is a challenging environment for moving, with congested streets and relatively small elevators in high-rise buildings. Shleppers navigated all the challenges with ease and speed. I highly recommend Shleppers.

Needed a moving company that could move things out of 2 Manhattan walk up apartments, store items overnight and move to walk up apartment next day. From my first call to get quote to final move in the attention to detail and customer service was excellent. The moving coordinator provided not only exceptional service she also worked to find best price. The movers were prompt, polite and efficient. The follow up during move and after was unexpected but showed how this company values it's customer. For a move in Manhattan I would use again with no hesitation.

We used Shleppers for a local move, from a 2BR apartment to a 4BR house. We have a LOT of stuff, but the Shleppers team handled it like pros! 4 of them showed up on day 1 to do all of the packing, and they did a great job. We didn't know where everything ended up, but it was all packed well and they didn't miss anything. Jay (the leader) was 100% professional and really set the tone for his team. They were all polite, respectful, friendly, appreciative (of water, snacks, etc.) and STRONG! The packing took a full day, and was not easy .. but they all came back the next day for the move. About an hour before the truck was supposed to arrive at our new home, we had a major leak in the ceiling of our DR (from renovation wrapup). This delayed the move because parts of the house were off limits until the repairs could be finished. Jay and his guys weren't fazed, and just kept working. No matter how many boxes they carried up or down the stairs, they kept working hard and kept up their positive attitudes. We did have two items broken: one leg on an antique desk was broken (which they fixed on the spot) and the marble base of our lamp cracked in half. We could tell that they felt genuinely bad about it, and appreciated their responses. They worked a LONG day, and did an amazing job! We would definitely hire them again, and would happily recommend them for anyone else planning a move.

This is the 5th time I move with Shleppers and I wouldn't move with anybody else, because they are the best ! The whole process is very efficient because they have very good employees. Starting with the experienced sales person who visits you in your home; continuing with the friendly girls who answer the phone in the office and last but not least, with the hard working team that packs and moves you to the new place. The team is headed by a Foreman who is very attentive to your needs and wants and who works with his team and supervises the work. I'm a happy client !

I recently moved from my apartment with Shleppers moving. Unfortunately, my new apartment was not ready so most of my belongings/furniture had to be moved into storage. I used Shleppers and was very happy and satisfied. The three movers arrived early (after calling to say they were on their way), came up to the apartment, introduced themselves, shook hands with me and began working. They worked quickly and efficiently and packed everything with care. I had a few items/boxes that I requested be handled with extra care and they made sure they were handled carefully and assured me that they would place them appropriately in the storage facility. The men were friendly and accommodating, while working diligently and packing all items securely. I am quite confident that all of my belongings will be safe and secure in their storage and will be returned to me in perfect condition.

1. I had to book the move last minute and on Friday last week they were able to book a move for Monday
2. They were available all weekend to modify my quote and answer my questions, awesome customer service
3. Monday morning the 3 movers arrived right on time
And they took care of everything!! We didn’t have to lift a finger, they were friendly and thorough and took amazing care of our stuff

Shleppers was very professional and organized. They quoted the job and stuck with the quote. They did not try to add any additional unexpected charges. They laid out exactly how the move would take place- sending people the day before to prepare everything to be easily taken out of my house the next morning since I was moving to NYC and the building had restricted moving times. The guys were great-nice and hard working. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable about the move. Shleppers saved the day & me from a scam moving company. Liberty Moving Group from NJ gave me a call after I used a moving website to request quotes from moving companies in my area. I spoke with Derrick and outlined the following: I was looking to only move my bedroom set furniture and a couch from my living room, I lived on a 4th floor walkup in NYC and was moving to a 3rd floor walkup in CT. On my moving day, Liberty started hitting me with additional charges (stairs, etc) and to move a very small amount of furniture, my quote increased from $1000 to $1920 ($1600 + tip), almost 2x the original quote. I was extremely uncomfortable with the updated quote and with the guys, themselves. I simply did not trust them, I had a feeling that the $1920 pricing would only go up from there since they were to be paid by the hour and I did not want to have my things held hostage. I cancelled Liberty Group movers right then and there, parted ways with them amiably (thank goodness), called up Shleppers immediately and scheduled a move with them based on a prior quote for the next day, Sunday. 24 hours later! Working with Shleppers in comparison to working with Liberty Group was like night and day! Shleppers quoted me $1289, they showed up early at 8:15 (slated to arrive between 9-10am), did the job in an hour, drove everything up, got everything setup in the new place within an hour or so - it was perfect!! I worked with Jacinda then Shayna at Shleppers to set everything up, they were both amazing and then Bob and his team of movers were friendly, experienced and efficient. Shleppers didn't have any additional charges, so I ended up paying $1600 with tip included - the updated base rate that the scam artists Liberty Moving Group was trying to push on me. Great learning lesson for me, I hope that my experience helps other people as well. I will use Shleppers for future moves for sure! Thank you Shleppers! This company—from the administrative aspect, to customer service, to the actual movers themselves—has gone above and celestially beyond to provide professional, competent, courteous, friendly, and exceptional customer service!

There was an issue that posed a major challenge in trying to move an extremely large hutch. Not only did two movers do everything they could to help but the company also sent a carpenter to facilitate in disassembling the unit in order to make it possible to transport it from one location to another.

After disassembling the hutch, the carpenter explained to me the risk associated with taking further aspects of it apart—due to how antique the hutch was and the manner in which it was constructed (stapled together rather than screwed). He told me this in full transparency and honesty, so that I can make an informed decision and opt to either proceed with the potential risk of further disassembling something that might not be restorable—or have him reassemble what was disassembled so far and be reimbursed $150. I opted for the latter.

That’s a level of transparency, honesty and integrity rarely seen in business practices today, and for that I gave him a tip as an appreciation for his efforts.

I hired Shleppers to move approximately one room of furniture from my family in Brooklyn to my home in Houston over the summer.
