Shleppers Moving & Storage

I was able to compare Shleppers to another moving company whom I paid about the same amount for another local move within Manhattan just a year before. Shleppers' quote initially came in quite a bit higher, but as my moving date approached (and I had actually booked another company that I cancelled a day later when Shleppers' price came down), there were discounts applied to my quote. Not sure if this is automatic (they seemed like automatic emails, I received one discount and then a day later another one) or an assessment by their relocation consultant on what it takes to bring you in as a client. In the end, for the same price, Shleppers was was much, much better: easier and more professional online booking and followup, contact person was very professional, crew took very good care of furniture (much more thorough in terms of dissassembling and wrapping, even where I though it would be ok without, they still took the time to do so), were not pushy about increasing the tip because maybe there were some extra items that weren't included in the quote (on moving day the crew didn't even check the item list, just took everything I asked), and were actually very friendly throughout the entire day. The crew I had was Abdel, Anthony and Claudia (yes, a woman, but she was strong enough, super efficient with the wrapping and professional). The team seemed to communicate well and have a good system to get things done as efficiently as possible.

I needed movers to relocate a short distance on the upper east side of Manhattan on fairly short notice. Schleppers was recommended by our building as someone tenants have used often and trusted. They had great customer service on the phone and allowed me to update my quote several times. My move was a little more expensive because I had to move on the last day of the month. They made my move very stress free.They were very helpful on the day of my move and even took some extra things, saving a me a lot of time and hassle later in the day. The movers padded all my furniture, and everything made it totally intact. Overall, I was very pleased and would use them again.

I want to just say a few words about my great experience with Shleppers Moving company. From the moment I made the call to set up my appointment throughout the final item being placed in my apartment I had a very nice customer experience. The information and cost was explained to me in detail from the beginning. The phone reps were courteous and easily answered every question.

The movers showed up on time and quickly had everything out the door even though I was still in the process of packing.

I moved from Harlem to Jersey City midweek and the movers stayed in touch to let me know exactly where they were. New York City traffic can be pretty crazy but they stayed pleasant and in touch. Upon arrival they quickly unloaded and everything was in order. I highly recommend Shleppers and would use them again for my next move. What I really appreciated was there was no hassle and no drama.

Ok, now that we're finally semi-settled into our new place and I have internet hooked up, I can finally sit down to sing the praises of these folks.

Moving is stressful: there's no way around it. My girlfriend handled booking the movers, and I didn't realize how stressed she was about the move until I called Schleppers myself to confirm something and realized she'd been calling them daily with a question, or to add or remove an item from their list. I spoke with Fran, who'd spoken with my girlfriend every time, and far from being annoyed at all the extra work we were obviously causing her, she was incredibly reassuring and said she was giving us one of her best crews. She didn't lie.

Alfredo and his crew were incredible. He immediately put us both at ease by laughingly saying, "This is it? I thought there'd be more!" They examined each piece of furniture for existing damage before wrapping it with extreme care. They even packed some electronic equipment in boxes for us, which I think was supposed to cost extra. He even packed my solitary house plant in its own adorable little box.

When we arrived at our new place, Alfredo was like, "Hey, did you know there are some screws missing from your bed frame?" I said, "No, I've slept on it like that for seven years just fine." He replied, "Hang on, I'll get my toolbox." And he fixed my bed for me.

Granted, were only moving a two bedroom apartment about a 20 minute drive away, but start-to-finish, the move only took about 4 hours (including a lunch break!)

I'd wholeheartedly recommend these guys to anyone. They went above and beyond. Like I said, moving is stressful, but working with these guys was easily the least stressful part about it.

Schleppers recently moved us from New York to Connecticut . From the initial contact with he office staff until the final item was placed in my new home we were treated with professionalism and courtesy. They were constantly in touch in the days before the move. On the day of the get move the crew arrived earlier than expected and promptly went to work. They were quick and effecient and everything was moved and in place in our new home by mid afternoon. They even helped us relocate a few items that were already in our home. They really went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. I would highly recommend Schleppers to anyone considering a move in the future.
