Lost my things, incredibly late, no communication/no sympathy

Pegasus in Greek myth is a swift flying that sprang from the blood of Medusa and flew off with the hero Persius. Yet pegasus

van line is neither swift, nor heroic.

A few days, maybe even a week late, I could understand but they arrived 15 days late. There was no offer of recompense to reimburse me for alternative sleeping arrangements or to cover the half a months rent I had paid to have the space open for deliver.

The day the did arrive they were seven hours later then they said they would be- and refused to take my boxes up the stairs without an additional charge, somehow this never came up until the evening they arrived. They also arrived with one broken picture frame they had boxed in addition to missing several boxes along with a missing piece of furniture. The cost of replacing the items missing is likely around 1800 dollars Canadian, I know that I'm not getting all that back, but they then deliberately chose to treat all my furniture and items as lost "boxed items" in a bid to keep the payout below the deductible cost.

The whole time rather then keeping me informed they just plowed past every conceivable deadline, and aimed to do nothing to redress the multiple and repeated failures to do their job.

Through these repeated failures in communication, following the failures in doing their job, I remained incredibly patient and civil to everyone I talked to.

Only got 1 star cause zero is not an option. I have never written a bad review of any company ever. This is how badly violated I feel.

All in all Pegaus probably cost me 2500$ dollars in outside costs, and an untold amount of time filling out their claim sheets which they had no intention of doing good on. Do not trust your things or your time with this company.

Long-distance move from Saint John, NB to Calgary, AB

Worst experience ever.

As they say “if I could give them no stars, I would”. This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with (and this is no exaggeration). It started with them having to switch things around and rescheduled last minute to pick up our things a day later than planned. This made our moving plans more complex as there were things we needed done in another close by city. The day we moved, our appointment ran late (no fault of our own) and we’re going to be 20 minutes late. We called them to let them know and ended up getting literally screamed at over the phone for being 20 minutes late after they rescheduled a full 24 hours difference on very short notice. My fiancée asked multiple employees multiple times, including the driver, confirming it will only be 10 days to move our things across Canada. Everyone stated this was the case. After traveling 10 days and thinking we would be arriving at the same time as our items they never showed. We called multiple times over the course of a month trying to figure out where our things were. Sometimes we wouldn’t get through, sometimes they knew where our stuff was and sometimes they didn’t. We never got a clear answer, they were rarely helpful over the phone, not being able to tell us when our stuff would arrive or where it was at. After an entire month of them guessing when our things would make it, where it was and creating a false hope every time they would tell us “next week” and it not arriving, we finally were told “next week” aka a month later (maybe longer) and they called us the day of that they would be arriving. They arrived at 9/10pm at night and moved our things in. Multiple items were broken or badly damaged. Later, we called about the delay, the false promises of getting our things, how we had to spend lots of money on additional items we needed (as we didn’t pack appropriately due to being told it will only be 10 days), and how we were treated and screamed at in the beginning. We paid way more than what was anticipated from what we calculated and never received an apology from the driver, and 0 compensation for any of this. I strongly suggest not going with this company.

GTA Move

Pegasus was super easy to work with. I had to change my moving dates a few times and they were always very accommodating and made it really easy to stay in touch during a pretty stressful time. On the day of the move, their team showed up on time and worked quickly to get everything out of the old place and into the new. They were able to move everything with zero damage to any furniture and were polite and respectful during the whole process. Pricing was very reasonable compared to a few of the other big moving companies in the GTA and would definitely recommmend!

One star was as low as I could go - Do not recommend

It has been eight weeks since our thousand pounds of belongings was picked up from Victoria for a move to Ottawa our pick up date was rescheduled twice and the delivery date is yet to happen. I can’t get in touch with anybody. Nobody is returning my calls or emails. No one is answering the phones. This has been the most frustrating experience of my life. We’ve been given seven potential delivery dates, and although I tried to refuse to pay the balance until the goods were delivered, I was told they couldn’t set up another delivery date until it was paid in full. That was four weeks ago and we still don’t have our belongings.

Terrible, go with someone else

Don't hire with this company. Owner Nick will give you a time frame of delivery, it was double with no explanation. He even requested me to give positive feedback to other potential customers. They take your money quickly n will not answer calls to see why our belongings are not at the destination. It's on it way yet Air tag states no movement for over 2 weeks. Items were damage, lost n extra fee to bring in apartment $300 with 42 ft extra distance. Do not hire this company, not even a one star

Thank you for extra effort

Reservation was really easy to book and I only gave them 2 weeks notice. Nick called to reconfirm the day before. I'm happy they did

make this extra effort or it might have slipped my mind, with all the details. The guys were on time. They were courteous and moved everything in 3 hours. Technically I didn't do anything just pack my belongings. Crew did everything.

I hired this company to move my furniture from Vancouver to Milton ontario . They wrapped all the furniture carefully . They were friendly and it cost way less than what I though it would .

It took them about 2 weeks to arrive , which was a bit longer than they promoted however everything arrived as it was loaded no hassles ,

Long-distance move from Ontario to Quebec

Do not hire this company

We wanted to hire an interprovincial moving company that we could trust to see the move through from destination to arrival with no hiccups or gotcha overages. Nick, the salesman, was quite convincing that we could scope the cost ahead of time for everything other than the weight of the cargo. At our destination, the crew left furniture on the bottom floor, threatened to charge us for having to climb a small flight of stairs, and overall quibbled about reassembling furniture. After the move, we politely asked some degree of restitution from Nick and from a Steve, who reacted with hostility from the jump. We wanted them to send a small team to move some of the furniture left on the bottom floor to the top floor. We did not ask for any money back. Pegasus is exactly the moving company you want to avoid. Once the cargo is loaded you will be told credit cards aren't acceptable forms of payment and the quality of service will be dictated by the crew on the ground. You WILL be left with an incomplete move if you go with Pegasus.

we are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with our services . first of all lets be clear that your shipment was picked up on time and delivered on time ! everything was done based on your request . shipment was picked up on 10th june from Hamilton, ON and Delivered to Montreal next day as promised .
as promised furniture was professionally wrapped and taken apart . reassembly is not part of the service ! and you were never told it was and it is in the initial quote and contract clearly outlined !
Not a single scratch on the items !
customer contacted us after the move that movers couldn't take their 300lbs desk up in the stairs in Montreal and and that item only was left in their living room and this is the only issue they said they have , we spoke to the client and said we informed the management team to see if or when we can send a team out and find out if it is doable because if its physically not doable then there is not much we can do .
even though our coworkers informed them that they would get back to them to see if this is doable , client insisted calling 10-20 times without giving us any time to reevaluate and to see if we can resolve their issue.
they harassed the sales person as well the manager several times over the phone and unfortunately they are extremely rude
they didn't appreciate the hard work we put in and they don't appreciate these individuals who worked at their premises are humans .

Terrible communication/service

I was to move from Saskatchewan to ON. I read the reviews and went with this company. BIG mistake!! They scheduled me on May 10/22 and I had packed and waited. I called the company at 7am to confirm and was told to expect the driver by 11am. I was told to call the driver, only for the driver to say he was not scheduled till weekend. Highly disappointed as I had bought my flight tickets to move. I was stranded with having to deal with an alternative.

The company representative was very nonchalant and seem to already know about the mess up!

I had to ask for my refund cos I was very unhappy With the company’s integrity and zero accountability!

Hi Suzie
we are very sorry that you feel disappointed with our company. Unfortunately for mechanical difficulties we were late for your pick up date , however that was not in our hands as truck that broke down was the only truck in your area of pick up ,yet we offered you alternative plans to accommodate your move and we also offered to compensate you for your flight tickets as however you closed your doors completely for a healthy communication . we updated with every details of the truck's arrival and we were extremely polite with our communication with you .
you asked for your deposit to be refunded and it immediately got refunded to you as well. we are sad that we couldn't satisfy your needs with our services.

Pegasus Vanlines - avoid like the plague!

If you want my opinion based on my personal experience with Pegasus Vanlines, the only moving you need to do if you are considering using this bunch is: MOVE AWAY ON A DEAD RUN!

Nick provides great promises and incredible price quotes, but at the same time, does all he can to avoid providing a legit contract with his name on it. Calls take forever to be returned with no end of excuses . Even their deposit transaction receipt simply says MOVING EXPENCE. No addresses, no business numbers, no telephone numbers … ZIP!

Calls to other interprovincial movers from Ontario to Alberta revealed that no one has actually heard of them and no one recalls seeing any of their trucks on the road. Googling shows they HAD two addresses (of a sort) one in Texas and one in Toronto area, but both are discretely noted as being ‘Permanently closed’.

Are they legit or a scam? I don’t know, but my ‘alarm bells’ went off and I didn’t give them the chance to prove either. I get the impression that of the 70+ reviews they show, the majority are penned by the company itself. On the other hand, the reviews that are done by their dissatisfied clients have a serious air of truth to them that is hard to ignore.

Remember – if it sounds too good to be true – it more than likely IS. I strongly recommend you not consider this ‘company’.

we don't know where to start responding this one but our legal team already started investigating this 'Slender'! and will take legal action against [NAME EDIT] !
Client contacted sales person Nicholas to get a revised quote based on 9000lbs (apparently he had movers came to his house and gave him 9000lbs estimate ) we did send him a revised estimate for 9000lbs and emailed that and he asked some questions about the moving and all his questions were answered , he called again and asked if we could go to his home for an estimate we said we don't do in home estimates in Manitoba then he said ok and we hung up . then about one hour after he called again and asked the same exact question and we said we already said we can not come for an estimate and he asked the same question and his response was he is confused ! which is ok we don't judge .
he called again and wanted to book his move we explained the procedure which we said we need his addresses and $200 security deposit towards the move . he provided his addresses and credit card for the deposit . by the way move was booked for july 12 th . all his calls were answered even tho we were extremely busy end of the month !
then he asked for the moving contract to be emailed to him along with the receipt for the deposit which was emailed and he responded as thank you very much then he asked for a senior discount for being over 65 years old then we agreed to give him %5 discount then one day after he said he needs to cancel his move . this is all that took place between [NAME EDIT] and Pegasus Vanlines . then next thing we know he goes and writes a review about us even though he didn't even move with us , like who does that ?i guess [NAME EDIT] does !
yes our merchant name for credit card transactions is moving systems so people easily recognize their credit card transactions done by our company when it comes to deposits or final amount payments and what is wrong with that ?!!Never ever had a customer pointed it our complained about that !!
Pegasus Vanlines Head office is in Toronto , ON and he claims he found one in Texas? yes i also found one is new zealand so does that mean we are located in there too ?
i called [NAME EDIT] today and asked him about how he would like to be refunded for the deposit he wanted it to be put back into his credit card then i asked him why he posted a review about us
this is the response " i have to go "!!!
shows clearly he feels embarrassed about what he did .
everybody is free to choose whatever moving company they want to move with but just because they change their mind they cant just slender the company
[NAME EDIT] will be taken to court and all the details about the case will be shared publicly online !

May not be a legitimate operation -- look elsewhere

Fortunately I checked back here to see if any reviews had appeared from other clients since I made the initial booking. I was shocked to see a handful of one-star reviews in a span of several days.

My move was scheduled for June 30 at 11am, I did not receive the call the day before as promised by Nick, and when I called at 10:30am -- thirty minutes before they were scheduled to appear -- another member of staff claimed an email was sent to me asking to reschedule for after July 2. I had looked and been checking every week since I booked the move, did a search of my inbox and spam folder, there was nothing there.

Being forewarned by other recent reviews that there was a possibility my belongings would go missing for 10+ days and they'd be non-responsive, I cancelled without hesitation as they already broke two commitments before even touching my belongings. I feel I have dodged a bullet, and I am fortunate I have the ability to schedule a later move with a different company. If I were a renter with a strict move-out date, I'd have been screwed. They never did confirm an arrival date in writing, so it was likely the 'about 24 hour' turnaround time from NB to QC was a bluff, based on other feedback I see..

It's important to note they are not certified by the Canadian Association of Movers, which only associates with reputable and trustworthy companies. Please use their website as a resource to find legitimate moving companies as well as fraud alerts, as fraudulent moving companies are spiking especially in Toronto. I fear this company may be one of them.

The only positives I can report is that my 200.00 deposit has been posted as a credit back to my card as promised after my cancellation, which really is the bare minimum.

Beware! The Absolute Worst Moving Company

On the 21st of June, Nick Galanis collected my deposit of $200. His company contacted me in response to a request that I made on moveit.ca. I advised him that my family and I are relocating to Ontario on the 30th of June. We had our flights booked and needed to have our items shipped. He assured me that the movers would pick up our items of the 27th June and they would arrive to us on the 2nd of July.

He also assured us that the day before the movers come, they will call to schedule a time. We did not receive a call on the 26th. On the 27th, I called Nick from Pegasus Van Lines at 8:05am and asked what time could we anticipate the movers. He said he would check and call back. He did not. We called him back at noon. He assured us the movers would be there between 3:00-5:00pm. When no one showed up, I called back after 5:00pm. He said that he had left the office and would check into it.

A lady called from Pegasus Van Lines stating that the truck was full and they would like to cancel for today, but rebook us for the 1st of 3rd of July. I told them that was unacceptable. As I told Nick, we have to be out of our home

in Manitoba before the end of the month, and we have flights booked for the 30th of June.

They had multiple opportunities to advice us of this before end of business day when they were expected to show up. They did not provide reasonable notice that would have allowed us to make alternative arrangements. Now we are faced with a predicament that will seemingly have a negative domino effect.

If you have experienced a similar situation with this company. I implore you to speak with a Lawyer about breach of contract. Especially of you’ve been severely inconvenienced.

WORSE DECISION OF MY LIFE!!

We moved from Ste Anne Manitoba to Ottawa after I completed a quote request online. Within 5 minutes, I got a call from Nick or Nicholas with my quote, asking when I wanted to move, etc. I read the reviews and went with this company. WORSE DECISION OF MY LIFE!!

I booked with them, provided a deposit for $200 and scheduled the pickup from Jun-10 and the Delivery for Jun-18. The company call me and pick my belongings on the day and time. The truck was not of the company that I hired. They came without any tools to dissemble the furniture, but other than that, everything went smooth.

Two days before the date (Jun-16) of the arrival, I called them to confirm the time to schedule the elevator, but no answer. I called several times. I called the company and got on hold of Grace, who informed me that my belongings were scheduled for July 18. I told her that was impossible because when I talked with Nick, I informed him when I needed my belongings and then we scheduled the pickup date. I decided to speak with nick, Who was the person who made the schedule, So I used another number to call, and Nick picked up right away (probably assuming a new sale) but told me that I had called four times and he won’t talk with me again.

The manager called me on the new number and started yelling at me, contacted me layer and accused them of harassment because I called four times to his employee. It was the worst call that I have received in My life. He was very aggressive, and I asked to get my belongings back because I won’t do business with him again.

He told me to get my belongings back. I needed to pay 50% of the price even though my belongings were still in Manitoba, and I hung up the phone on my face.

I started to talk with Grace by email, and she was lovely and tried to solve my problem, so I decided to continue the move. She promises me that my belongings will be delivered on Jul-01.

I asked many questions in the email, and they said I could not pay by credit card. However, the account will send the invoice when my belongings arrive in Toronto. They send the invoice 30% above the estimated. I paid, and they scheduled the delivery.

WE SLEPT on the Floor for more than a month.

All mattresses got all mould and with a bad odour that I need to but on garbage. My belongings were very damaged; I guess they through on the truck.

Miserable moving experience, awful customer service

Pegasus delivered with 7 days delay a miserable moving service : every single piece of furniture arrived damaged broken, scratched, covered with greasy black dirt and even footprints on our couches. (value $8 500)

They did not provide any valid legal paper and even refused to communicate their address so that you can't send formal claims.

In response to a formal notice, they offered a ridiculous amount compared to the material prejudice, saying it is not included in the Terms and Conditions of the contract they never sent to us and we never accepted nor signed.

Their poor business practices have been reported to the CAM, the BBB and are now brought to the justice.

For all unfortunate customers : here is the address, as this is a legal information which should be on every of their documents.

Move from Ottawa to Sudbury

Whoever is reading this review please, please do not ever go near or engage this company. They will rip you off and not be honest with you at all.

What happened to us with their scam was that they did not weigh the truck empty. They only gave us a verbal weight that was a lot less then the actual truck weight.

That way the weight of the truck full

minus an estimated truck weight empty will result in a higher weight then actual. The final weight will then be inflated and you will pay more then you should.

They never will tell you that you must pay them before they unload at your new destination. We were unloaded on a Sunday so we had no access to banks.

Also we had a lot ot unnecessary damage to our furniture caused by their inexperienced movers.

When we sent photos of the damage and requested compensation we were denied and issued pages of fine print conditions that never were explained to us at the time.

In summary:

1. They do not weigh the truck empty and will estimate it's weight.

2. They insist on payment before they will unload.

3. They will send you their conditions and fine print after you experience any damage caused by the movers.

UNDER ANY CICUMSTANCES DO NOT HIRE THEM.

Beware

Worst experience. First they were late then after I was told all I had to do was pack my boxes upon thir arrival I was told that it was $45 per item. When I called to question it I was told I didn't say that not my fault you didn't pack your things don't have to move your stuff. I had to be out that day and he knew it My question how do you pack a sofa. They smashed glass before loading it on the truck and would not admit to it. I was not told about all charges. I was charged $200 for being outside of Toronto and $50 for weighing the load. It cost me almost $7000 I was quoted $3000. I was told delivery would be in a week it was over a month. Every time I called I was told 10 days. The last time I was told people that moved in June are still waiting you can wait. When I finally received my stuff there was thousands of dollars in missing and damaged items. I was harassed for proof of payment even after I sent it that's all they seem to care about. When I put a claim in I was told make a list we pay by the pound. I ask you how do you replace everything when you are paid by the pound. He is very nice until he receives your deposit. Beware if you still choose to use this company prepare yourself to wait atleast a month to get your belongings. My mobility items were also on the truck because I couldn't fit them in the car nothing matters to them other than if you have the money when they get there whenever they decide to show up.

Long-distance move from Alberta to Ontario

Stay away from this worst mover

Stay away from this moving company and don’t believe a single word out of their salesman’s mouth – advice from a victim of scam.

Following is my bad experience with Pegasus Van Lines located in Etobicoke, Toronto. What I said here is truth, nothing but truth and I am legally responsible for every single word I said here. There are a lot in common in my and other people’s negative comments (e.g., no commitment to the confirmed moving date, worst communications, lies and false promises from the salesman, and no response nor any compensations for the lost and damaged personal items). Unfortunately, I alone experienced all of these negative practices above. In past 30 years, we have had several trans-Canada relocations but this is the worst moving company we have ever hired.

We had booked the 9:00 am of June 22 as moving date with Pegasus Van Lines 7 weeks in advance to move my household stuff from Alberta to Ontario through a salesman named ‘Nick Galanis’ who offered us what he described as “a room-to-room direct moving” at a competitive rate. I made it clear to him that June 22 is not a moveable deadline, as the possession of our sold house was June 23rd and we had to move out prior to 12 pm on that day. I also asked Nick specifically whether they do “consolidating” moving (meaning uploads and offloads numerous times before the delivery), he said ‘No” and even said that the shipment, once picked up, would be directly shipped to the destination and delivered in 5 – 8 business days even before our arrival if I chose to drive to Ontario. Everything seemed ok until June 19 when we got a call from a driver who told us that we had to re-schedule for the pickup, as he had to do a maintenance for his truck on that day. We also found from him it was not a direct moving as Nick promised. Since then I tried to contact Nick by email, phone and text messaging but in vain, no response at all. Then in the morning of the moving day (June 22), I finally got a chance to speak to Steve and expressed my concern. He was so defensive, rude and indifferent even threatened to cancel the pickup as a solution to our concern! At the end, the driver came at 5:00 pm and started uploading our items but he charged us extra $813 + taxes on handling fees and furniture packing, which Nick promised for free. We did not find out until 10 days after the pickup that they even did not do a long-distance truck moving. Instead, our stuffs, after sitting in their terminal for several days, were uploaded into a shipping container and sent to Ontario by train. For two weeks, there was no news about the shipment. So, I started to call but either no one answered the phone or put me on hold and then hung up on me. Finally on July 13, after 21 days waiting, our shipment arrived. The cost of the shipment was doubled, compared to the initial estimate. No credit card was accepted and all had to be paid in full prior to the delivery. The worst of all was that, in spite of extra charge of $813 we paid for handling and packing fees, our expensive and luxuriate (worth $5,000) solid-wood table set was severely damaged – the table base was broken in the middle, the edge of the table top was severely damaged, and one side chair’s leg was completely broken, not to mention the broken chinaware sets and scratches/damages here and there on the other furniture. In addition, 32 boxes and items were missing including two ladders, expensive clothes, cooking wares, valuable items, etc. We called, texted and emailed to Nick with the list of missing items and photos of damaged furniture. He promised to look into this but nothing happened since. The total estimated losses/damages were over $10,000. Ironically, after 3-month waiting when they finally processed the compensation for the loss/damages, they offered us only $103, which was only 1% of what we lost, as compensation. What a joke!

The lesson we learned is that don’t believe anything Nick promised you. What he promises is too good to be true. If you don’t want to experience the same disaster as we have gone through, stay away from this moving company like the plaque.

Terrible moving by Pegasus

Please do not use this company! Absolutely expensive and damaged furnitures with zero intentions of paying for the damage. I moved one bedroom and it costed around 2300. The guy named nick was dismissive when I asked him to prove his legitimacy. Then said I didn’t need to put any big furnitures in boxes and then proceeded to take money for the big boxes the movers brought. When my furnitures arrived, 3 were damaged beyond repair. When I filled in the claim forms, after more than a month they said they were not responsible for the damage. Trying to find ways to pursue them legally. In the mean time please use a different company.

Hassle Free - Great Experience

This was the best moving experience for me in last years, even I used this company already for a few times in the past. If I could give them 10 stars I would! We hired them for their full packing and moving service and it was great. Everything I own was packed with care and arrived without a single scratch on anything. The crew was incredibly efficient, gracious, and patient. All this for about half of what some competitors had quoted us. From working with the team on a quote, the move date, to packing, loading the truck and unloading and unpacking again, these guys exceeded all my expectations. Hardworking, polite, and thorough - they are a very professional team that I truly couldn't recommend enough and will 100% hire them for my next move.
