Northern Moving Systems

I booked Northern Moving Systems to move from New Jersey to Texas on April 21st 2021. Following are the inventory list: 15 medium/large boxes, 5 large suitcase, 2 office chair & 1 adult bike. Based on the inventory, they offered me to move these items for $1,850. I agreed to that and paid $650 as advance payment using my credit card and agreed to pay $600 on the day of pick up and remaining $600 on delivery. The move was scheduled on April 29th 2021.

They outsourced my move to CR7 Moving and Storage and they came to my home for pick up on April 29th 2021. They picked up following items: 7 medium boxes (8 less than estimate), 4 large suitcase (1 less than estimate), 2 office chair & 1 adult bike. After loading all these items into the truck, they told me total cost for this move is $2,950 excluding deposit (which is $650, including this, new total will be $3,600 which is 100% more than the agreed price with Northern Moving Systems). I asked them why they are increasing the price, they said it is more than inventory list. But it is clearly less than the inventory list. Since I don't want to pay the additional amount, I called Neil from Northern Moving Systems who was my moving consultant. He told that he will check and get back. Then I got a call from Dianne from Northern Moving Systems, and explained the scenario, she told me the she will talk to the CR7 and get back. Meanwhile, CR7 started negotiating with me. They started with $2,950 excluding deposit, now they asked me to pay $2,100 (excluding deposit). I told them that I had contract with only Northern Moving Systems and waiting for response from them. Then CR7 started bargain again and asked me to pay $2,000 (excluding deposit). I didn't agree to that, so they started rushing and said they can't wait for more time and need to leave. I asked them to wait for the call from Northern Moving Systems, they didn't agree and started unloading my items from the truck and put everything on the street. It was raining at the time and they put all items on rain and left the scene. Then, they started the negotiation again, because of this bad experience with them, I don't want to negotiate and started moving my items into the house. Meanwhile, I got a call from Cheryl (Northern Moving Systems) and I told me that they will come and pick up again. I don't want CR7 to pick up my items again because of the current experience, and I told her that. She was so rude and said she will not issue refund. Don't book your move with this company and read more on scams by cubic feet moving scams. STAY AWAY from them. I don't want anyone to suffer like me.

Everyone was very responsive at first. Multiple people in multiple departments retuning my calls. Now it’s moving day, Northern has taken the money, and no one has show up it even called to let us know they were coming. Everyone says “that’s not my department/I don’t have a direct line to my supervisor/I don’t have the scheduling department’ direct line.” Its a shell game and is going to cost me thousands in a lost sale of the house if no one shows up today. HORRIBLE customer service and no follow though. Completely unacceptable.

People should go to Northern Moving Systems. They did what they said they were going to do when we had to come up with the estimate. We did a walk-through through the house on the phone and they went above and beyond. The moving coordinator called me a few times and made sure everything was okay. We set up the dates and everything went smooth. Nothing was broken and I have put everything in storage. They were there when they were supposed to be there and we had no issues. The moving crew was excellent and it was a good experience working with them.

We're retired and we wanted to be closer to our kids so we decided to move four hundred thirty eight miles and had Northern Moving Systems move our larger pieces. They gave us a complete list and helped us get it together. Our coordinator was efficient and he kept us informed. I was happy with him. And the moving crew was really top-notch. Both of the guys worked really hard and were very careful. They did everything we asked and more and made the move easy. The crew was really exceptional and we liked working with them. We were happy with our move.

I could give less then zero rating. I would. This company is absolutely a scam. They quoted me a good price. Had same experience. Quoted me a good price of approx 1500 to remove my remaining items. I had specific requirements and NONE work met I tried to cancel when they tried to say my bill will be at least 7000. They broke my large tv the only possession of great value.. they smashed it. Gave me $50.. Many other things were broke. They said they would work with me on the 7000 and would keep to original estimate. ABSOLUTE LIE. Don't trust them.. CANCEL.. RUN... The movers arrived. just dumped the stuff . Stuff fell off the truck as them moved my items. They gave me someone elses boxes and never picked them up. They were someones precious pictures. They were to do some packing.. tried to charge extra. They put small laundry basket in a Extremely large box. and it was totally destroyed as there was nothing else in it.. but it allowed them to use up the storage and charge more. I had to hire another mover to move rest of my items. SCAM SCAM SCAM. They don't care...

Honestly save yourself the misery and hire ANYONE else. The quote was dramatically wrong, then I was told if I didn’t agree to the new quote and pay more up front then they wouldn’t pick up my items. This was said to me on the Wednesday before my Friday closing, which was also the second day of the three day pick up window. I have the text messages where I told them I felt I was being extorted and the response was simple, pay more or no pick up.

I paid for packing but as they kept moving the pick up days I had packed most of the house which was good because they delayed pick up so many times I wasn’t picked up until the day before closing! And the team that did the pickup told me they had been told I would be a two day pack!

The team who came to pick up turned up with a truck too small to take everything and so I had to drive one of them into town to get another truck from Uhaul. Their lack of organization had me very concerned. By the time they turned up I had begun to warn the realtors we may not be able to close on time!

We were given a shockingly long time window for delivery, and even then the delivery was outside of the two month window. The delivery ‘team’ consisted of three hires from a city an hour away and a very unpleasant and aggressive truck driver. They arrived late! The three local hires were hard working but the weather was not cooperating and I had to insist they stop unloading the truck in the midst of a torrential downpour (Mississippi knows how to rain!). They had a delivery after us and I feel very sorry for them because I know some of their stuff had to be taken off the truck and at least one TV was left in the rain.

The driver was rude, dismissive and I was not comfortable with him on our property. And despite being assured that while the delivery team would not unpack boxes they would put furniture together, tidy up after themselves, they left without putting up beds, because they lost the hardware! We found it later… but I had to insist they take their rubbish with them.

I cannot say this too strongly, moving is stressful enough, don’t add to it by hiring a company which simply doesn’t care about your experience, your needs or concerns, they only care about getting paid as much as they can for doing as little as possible! I have moved domestically and internationally and this was by far, the worst experience I have ever had with movers.

I was so worried that they were going to fail to collect my furnishings that I had literally looked at the cost of renting a Uhaul myself and hiring some folks to help me load up. I had to build a box myself for an unusual item because they don’t box on site! Another thing not mentioned until after we signed the contract!

Basically, don’t use this company…. Ever! I’m serious, hire anyone else. I regret every penny given to this company. They were expensive, unpleasant to deal with and so badly organized. This experience was so bad if I ever move again, I will sell anything I can’t transport myself! Horrible experience.

If you need a company that is honest and upfront with all costs plus provides very fair pricing, this is the company to call! Northern Moving Systems owner, is awesome! He came and walked my house and we discussed my move in great detail. He provided me with an estimate range and it was right on. The three movers that came with him on moving day were very careful, thoughtful and excellent to work with. I have a second move coming up in November and Jason will be the one that I call. Thank you for a job well done!

I have seen my share of different moving companies but they are all flawed in some way or the other. But Northern Moving Systems has really performed a flawless move for me. Their quote was cheap and I mean really cheap. They showed up early on the moving day with all the right tools. They used loads of packing materials to safeguard my breakables. Other things received a shrink wrap. Soon they were off and arrived right on time. There were no mishaps or glitches. I really cannot believe how excellently these movers worked.

Our move went as smoothly as it possibly could. It was all because of the good work done by the movers from Northern Moving Systems. These guys were just like well-oiled machines. They were punctual and responsive. They listened to all our instructions and requests. All our furniture was wrapped in shrinking tapes and other belongings were packed into boxed. It sometimes seemed like they were using too much packing materials. But it only helped safeguarding our valuables. I received the delivery on time and in great condition. I’m definitely booking them again for my next move.

We have had terrible experience with the last moving company we hired. The movers took nearly 8 hours to pack up all our belongings. This time, we weren’t going to hire any inefficient company. One of my friends suggested the name of Northern Moving Systems. When I called them, they gave me a very fair quote and I was satisfied with that estimate. Their crew of four men arrived 10 minutes early, which took us completely by surprise. Then the men started working and they were done in no time at all. I couldn’t believe it! I was expecting a haphazard job given how fast they were. But absolutely nothing was broken or damaged, or even scratched, when they made the delivery. I think this company should really market better because they are just too good and people need to know about them.
