Please submit your claim at your earliest convenience, and we will prioritize the reimbursement. Our records indicate that you supplied our estimator with a list of 102 items, which formed the basis of the quote you received. The service order was dispatched to you, and you confirmed the transport of these 102 items. Our estimator accurately documented every item you indicated for shipment, ensuring nothing was omitted from the estimate. However, upon our arrival, you included 12 additional items, which increased the total shipment volume by approximately 100 cubic feet. Our policy dictates that volume charges are adjusted only when extra items are added to a client's service. We regret that you perceived our estimator's actions as questionable; however, our review of the database records confirms otherwise. On the day of pickup, we assured you that we would honor the original price based on the initial list of 102 items you provided. We provided you with that option, as well as the choice to ship all goods available on-site at the adjusted cost, which you selected. There were no disputes regarding the increased charges during the pickup; you did not express any concerns about the additional fees until this review was posted. On the pickup day, you acknowledged your understanding of the price increase. The driver's comment regarding the inventory discrepancy was due to the presence of extra items on-site that were not accounted for, rather than a mismatch. We take responsibility for your damaged items, which is why we promptly provided you with claims information. You were encouraged to file your claim yesterday, and we even mentioned our intention to offer you a discount as a gesture of goodwill. Northern Moving Systems is a carrier, not a broker. We have agents located in many states, who aid with our services. The three largest movers within the United States, operate in the same manner. Allied, Mayflower, and United are all carriers, with agent authority. You may view our carrier licensing by visiting the Department of Transportation' FMCSA website. You stated the estimator was rude, the crew was rude, and that you had difficulties with customer service. Sir, we are under brand new ownership and management, as of this year. We will not tolerate any of our staff being rude to a client. We pulled the database recorded calls, and no one was rude to you, sir. The shuttle is a service that is required to complete deliveries where there is no access for a semi-truck. There are no hidden fees within our contracts. Everything is in 14-18-point font. Below, is the section taken directly from your order for service, which addresses the shuttle, in the same font as in the order for service.

SHUTTLE CHARGE:

If the authorized motor vehicle carrier/agent cannot get within 100 yards of the customer's given address, the customer agrees to pay and will be required to pay, an additional $1.00 per cubic foot with a $350.00 minimum, for the shuttle to bring the shipment from the designated moving truck, to the customers home. No mover adds this charge, during the scheduling process. It is not clearly known, in many cases, whether a shuttle will be required to complete the delivery, or not. The final decision is left solely to the driver's discretion, unless traffic laws prohibit entrance to the area, or if the laws prohibit the extended parking of the delivery unit.

We understand that many people who use a national moving company do not understand the mechanics behind a cross-country transport. That is why we go into detail explaining our processes. You did not understand the delivery windows were business days. You did not understand why we had to utilize a shuttle to complete the delivery. You thought that we were a broker. Sir, our customer service reps equip each client with an abundance of information regarding our company, and the services that they will receive. We provide this information verbally, and through sequential emails. We don't know what we could have done differently in this case in order to explain our processes more clearly. We feel the actual reason for this review is the shuttle-charge. We only use shuttle's if they are completely necessary. The crew must perform twice the labor in the advent of a shuttle being utilized. They basically have to unload two trucks. This can be time consuming, as well. We do not enjoy using shuttle's, but it is an industry-wide process, and it must be done in certain deliveries which prohibit a semi-truck from gaining close access to the delivery point.

We are very sorry for the damages associated with your transport. As discussed over the phone, Northern Moving Systems does have a claims process. The phone number and website address to submit a claim, have been provided to you. The agreement between yourself and Northern Moving Systems is outlined in the contract. The coverage you selected for your move, and the terms and conditions of that coverage, are available within the agreement. Please know that we are very sorry for the damage of your personal belongings. We hope you find the claims process satisfactory. Before addressing the additional items you included during the quality assurance review, we would like to explain our process for estimating moving costs. Our operations are consistent with those of other national moving companies. Each client in the moving industry receives two distinct estimates prior to the collection of their belongings. The first estimate is based on a specific inventory list provided by the client to facilitate cost estimation. In this instance, Ms. Renzi submitted a list of 123 items for shipment. Like other national moving companies, we reach out to our clients shortly before the scheduled pickup to verify their inventory list. It is important to note that during the initial estimation phase, customers are encouraged to confirm the accuracy of their inventory both verbally and in writing. Ms. Renzi has not presented the complete picture; she did not initially provide a comprehensive list of items intended for shipment until contacted by our quality assurance representative. Below is the list of items she added during that conversation.

A small metal table, a wicker chest, a mannequin, an antique oak table, a large sideboard, a laundry basket, a floor lamp, a hamper, a folding clothes rack, a dresser, a baby gate, an antique wardrobe, an antique square table, an 8' rod, a 40-pound box of cat litter, and a 30-pound bag of cat food were added to your already existing order. We had already dispatched a truck and a full crew nearing your location. This resulted in costs incurred for mobilizing our team to facilitate your move. You mentioned in your review that we misrepresented our cancellation policy; however, we do not have a cancellation policy that allows for refunds of deposits when customers cancel the day before pickup while our truck and crew are en route. We would like to understand how it is our responsibility that you did not provide a complete inventory list during the initial estimate. Our company is reputable and not engaged in deceptive practices. We charge based on the items you choose to ship, and since you added to your list, the overall costs increased. You decided to cancel the services due to this cost increase, which was a result of your own choices. We appreciate your feedback and wish you a pleasant day.
