North American Moving Experts LLC

Do not use this company if you value your time, money, and items. They doubled the move cost two days before pickup. They did not disclose that they are brokers and don’t actually move items themselves but hire other companies to do the work. They tell you everything you want to hear and once you sign a contract everything goes downhill. They make false delivery timelines. They failed to deliver my items within 3 to 5 days as promised. The moving vehicle broke down in route and was stranded on the side of the highway with no timeframe for repair. I rented a U-Haul and met the mover to retrieve my items. I had to pay the full delivery cost before my things were released to me. There are no morals and ethical values associated with this company. They displayed no concern about the customer needs but appeared to be only motivated by how quickly they can be compensated for subpar service. Don’t think twice about avoiding this company.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4000

This company is a broker. This was not determine until the Van arrived. We needed to get a moving van from Connecticut to go to Alabama moving an entire household. I signed a contract and the Deposit required was $3,490 which was paid via Credit Card.

Van arrived at my home and the driver recalculated the square footage and said that the amount quoted was incorrect and it would be an additional $1,000 or thereabouts. I provided my credit card to pay the $6000 owed only to be told it had to be in Cash. I didn't have cash. Who has 6000 laying around for moving day? The company took my deposit via Credit card, why cant the balance be paid the same way? We were all scrambling trying to figure this out.

A person in our group though this seemed odd as there was no mention of paying cash in any of the conversations i had had with North American. She took a picture of the Truck "365 Moving and Trucking LLC" . and looked it up on the DOT website and determined they were not licensed to travel INTERSTATE between Connecticut and Alabama WITH HOUSEHOLD GOODS. I have a copy of that as well This broker had used a moving van that was not licensed to do the task at hand. We asked the driver if they had a bill of Lading and they responded no.

We further determined that if the DOT were to stop this van enroute to Alabama.

1. they were not licensed to carry household goods over state lines . 2. that they had NO BILL OF LADING which is a requirement of the DOT.

I was informed that the DOT could confiscate the Van and the entire contents of the van, namely my entire house of furniture.

We declined the van.

North American was clearly in violation of their own contract never mind that i would lose my deposit if i refused the Van.

I want to add that the driver and helpers that came to the house to help with the move were very nice. I have no beef with them other than to say their licenses did not allow the task before them to be performed.

Okay I contact my discover credit card to dispute the payment to North American, Explain the situation and a dispute is generated.

I then has this woman from North American call me and has threatened to have me arrested if I disputed the deposit. that was on September 27 at 2.46 pm. It went to my voice mail.

The dispute begins. Discover credits the amount until the dispute is resolved. Suddenly the charge is back on my card. I then supplied the credit card with photo showing the DOT page for the 365 Moving and Trucking co LLC clearing showing they could not transport my household goods. Its dated November of 2022.

Now when i went back to the same website for the same trucking company on the date i was submitting my information it had been update as of 10/05/2023 that they could now move household goods interstate. My move date was September 27, 2023 which was 8 days before the LATEST change. I had my copies so I sent all the information i had into Discover Card dispute department. At that point the charge has been credited again until further investigation.

This morning I check and the $3490 dollar charge is back on my credit card. When I inquired as to why, I was told I was TRYING TO transport animals and plants in the truck which WAS NOT true and the Van was cancelled, therefore forfeiting my deposit.

I was threatened to be arrested by an employee at the company. What did I do wrong?

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3490

Was not expecting North American Experts to subcontract another moving company, Rapid Relocation. Without notice Rapid Relocation showed up a day late and wrote up their own estimate on site. NAE estimate $1585, I made a deposit $585. Rapid Relocation’s estimate $1575. surprisingly looked like NAE’s estimate but they didn’t tell me it was without my deposit. Also I was not told that there were going to be additional fees such as steps (there are none), long carry (no length determined), adjustable fuel surcharge (scratched the 10% out and hand wrote in 12%) and some “others” hand written in that I cannot make out. Final cost $2109. The estimate was written up after our stuff was loaded, too late to challenge. Don’t know whether NAE or RR delivered the stuff because it arrived in a UHaul and the driver would not respond to the question. A few Items arrived damaged. A bicycle looked like it was left out, run over, and reloaded. NME said our items were insured for $10,000. Rapid Relocation’s website says items are compensated for $.60 per pound of item, not their value. Bicycle ~$6. Neither company responded to my calls, emails or texts.

Summary; North American Experts collected the deposit and sent Rapid Relocation which arrived a day late and wrote up their own estimate with unexpected costs. Also the pickup was cash only. Then items arrived a day late and some damaged. Also drop-off was cash only.

My advice is to read the information in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, www.oig.dot.gov/investigations/household-goods-moving-fraud. They recommend how to choose a mover and look for red flags. I advise not going to sites that require entering your information to get multiple estimates. Find your own moving company.

I was anxious to get things moved so I signed Rapid Relocation’s estimate after my stuff was loaded. If I had read the FMCSA’s advice, I would have not agreed to the estimate AFTER my stuff was loaded and told them “no, unload”. But everything happened so quickly I didn’t have time to think. I can go on wining with more details but instead tell you to go to the link and follow their information.

Read Yelp, BBB , and other sites about these scam artist . My experience started with a guy who was so full of crap I could smell him over the phone , Eric . Paid this Clown 1000, the next artist And I got into it big time, she was a verifier and bad mouthed me for 45 minutes even about being disabled and a veteran. Her Husband chimed in with the name calling , all on tape, the next person Nancy a Supervisor and I kind of squared it away after I walked through each room and told her what was in it to be moved then she wanted 465.00 more dollars. At this point I thought it was done with the balanced owed 2200. Well the movers came a day late and were not professionals only Semi Drivers looking for extra money . They rented a Uhaul truck to move me , Now another woman comes on and tells me they will pick up my furniture on 22nd the 800 cubic feet . Now I had explained to the supervisor word for word an itemized list of what needed to go. The movers and this woman kept in Phone contact and as the truck started to get a quarter full she calls me to let me know I have reached my total . No furniture loaded only boxes and things we had ready. She needed 4100 more to load them on the Truck. I refused and she called me back several times. Finally I got mad and told her to get my things to me . She left behind My bed , Couch , Two TV s and and end table . Some personal items because I refused to pay more . Three times they sent me different contracts and each time a price increase . Scammers , my grandsons are going after it Sunday, 24th. My furniture was delivered and everything is scratched up and new love seat was taken apart and now does not work and Legs are stripped and will not go back on . Just bought it 4 months ago. The doors are scratched coming in to the house and boxes mashed . I was charged 75.00 dollars for TV boxes the driver knew nothing about ! Nancy ripped me off for that one . I have stopped payment on my checks till my furniture is replaced or restored. This Company is total scam. The five Star you see are from Bots so they can continue to rip people off . All BS and lies . Please do not use this Company for your moving or you will get taken like me and others on here . I even called North American Van lines and they told me this company is not a sister company. By the way I told the Movers and the driver what they do to rip off customers and they said they would not go back. They were mad she told them to leave my furniture. Scam artist at best with this company. You been warned .

Do not use this company. Read the better business bureau reviews!! I cancelled my service the day after I put a deposit down, more than 7 days before move. The email was sent to the email address provided in the contract and also made sure to get an email from customer service showing I cancelled. This was September 29 and still have not received a refund and company says they are not refunding me and have not received any of my emails. Still have not received a call from management after requesting a call back. You also do not have the ability to talk to finance even though they say they will call within 72 hours.

I read all these great reviews and laugh. Clearly most (if not all) are fake. Most are written in identical styles, punctuation, etc. plus they are all fairly recent and within days of each other. If you want to know the real truth about this company, go to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website. Almost every single complaint is the same, and if I had not read those, I would have been totally screwed by them as well.

I got a great quote from them, almost too good to be true..it was. I was quoted at 300cft..that’s less than a 5x10 storage unit. For days I kept asking my contact there Chris to please correct that and give me a knew quote as I was absolutely positive it wouldn’t be enough room. He kept trying to tell me it was. After telling him I measured all the furniture, he went as far as telling me that I wasn’t a professional and he had programs that estimated how much space on the truck I would need and it figures in the dimensions of the truck. Wth? Cubic feet is cubic feet no matter what size the truck is and I can do math! After annoying him for almost a week, he came back with a new quote…for 378cft! I had previously got a quote for 500cft around the same price as his 378cft by an actual moving company, not a broker. If I hadn’t done my homework, I would have been so screwed the day of the move by having to come up with more money and hoping I had enough. No telling what the cost the day of would have been.

As I said, if you want to really know all about this company, go to Google or the BBB. Run, don’t walk away from this company!
