Long-distance move from Marietta, PA to Cape Coral, FL

Lies

STAY AWAY….cost us $13,000 to move from Pa to Florida

They quote low to get the business and then when the movers get there they double the price and you have no choice!!!

Broken items, screwed up walls, and furniture… But no one replies from customer service or managers from the company! So you are screwed!

They get no stars from me, but have to give one. ??

Long-distance move from West Virginia to Missouri

AVOID at all costs

Booked a move through New Leaf for a last minute military move after my own Army moving service dropped the ball. I had a similar experience to other reviews. The movers showed up and immediately asked for more money, stating that my goods take up more volume than estimated (unlikely, I overestimated intentionally). The movers were extremely unprofessional and tempered. While leaving the apartment complex, they swiped a retaining wall causing $750 worth of damage. They are refusing to pay to replace the damaged wall. When waiting for the delivery, the carrier company has pushed back the drop-off date, first a week at a time, now daily. Promising the delivery will get there tomorrow every day. At this point I dont know if I'll ever see my belongings again as the carrier has stopped answering my phone calls.

Long-distance move from Texas to North Carolina

Unprofessional and inflexible

At this point I don't really believe there's a "good" moving company, they're all hyper-expensive, inflexible, rude, unpredictable and overall difficult to deal with. New Leaf are probably not the worst, but they're still all of those things. They can't give you exact times for when they will pick up and deliver, but still demand you be there at the time they tell you they're coming. They arrived on a weekday morning when my wife and I were working, I'm a doctor so it was a complete nightmare trying to co-ordinate this while responding to emergencies. They would only book a minimum size of truck for our small one-bed apt, so we massively over-paid, and not only that, but suddenly they couldn't take a credit payment for delivery, it had to be cash, no matter what. I had just moved, hadn't even got my first paycheck yet, but they didn't give a sh*t cos it's in the contract. I'm sure there's something they could have done, but they just treated me like a criminal "refusing to pay" and said my stuff would be put into storage for another 400 billion dollars fee if I didn't cough it up. Positive things, at least they actually showed up, unlike other moving companies. And the actual delivery people were nice and professional, but they're probably a third party anyway. So these guys prob aren't the worst, but I still wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Long-distance move from Cleveland, OH to Orlando, FL

AFWUL EXPERIENCE. NIGHTMARE

BEWARE!!!! Moving with New Leaf is a nightmare!

DO NOT USE NEW LEAF. DO NOT! DO NOT USE NEW LEAF.

Any positive reviews are "BOTS".

Lowball on the estimate. Movers show up and price quadrupled.

New Leaf doesn't let you talk to your sales rep that did the estimate.

Forced to pay because your belongings are on the truck and you have to vacate your home. Forced to give cash. New Leaf doesn't care. "You signed a contract", "it's a he said, she said", trucker didn't get any cash"

They hire people who rent a truck. They don't hire professional movers.

Our stuff arrived - boxes looked like they were thrown around, desk broken, things missing, stuff broken.

Long-distance move from Lakewood, OH to Charlotte, NC

Horrible company - DO NOT TRUST THEM.

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. It started off with a bait and switch tactic from a salesman on the phone (David Eagan). We were planning a last minute move and he gave us a wonderful price to get from Cleveland, OH to Charlotte, NC. The quote was $2400. He gave us this estimate on how much stuff we’d have based on us telling him what we would be packing up. He never physically saw our stuff. On our verification call, we told them AGAIN how much stuff we would have. Upon arrival (one day late) of the movers, they said we had about four times the amount of stuff they quoted us as having and we would need to pay for the additional space. It ended up being over 5 grand more than our original quote. The movers that came to our house were a completely different company (New Leaf never told us that) and the man in “charge” lowered my price to pay the moving company and forced me to pay him directly via Zelle so he could profit more and the moving company less. He also forced me to leave my house (I was alone) to pick up water and Gatorade for his team. He then forced me to leave again to go to a bank to get cash out for his team (2 teenage boys) for a tip. They made me feel extremely uncomfortable and taken advantage of. They left and I contacted New Leaf and they were no help- they even belittled me by saying I shouldn’t have done those things. They didn’t offer any solution. We were then given the run around for weeks about when our stuff would be delivered. A completely different truck and movers came to drop off our stuff - they were hired by the company that New Leaf hired so we are now dealing with 3 different companies. Many items arrived damaged (a whole desk and dresser) and we have an entire XBOX One missing, along with 1-2 large boxes.

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to Denver, CO

Can’t explain how bad this company is

Absolute worst experience of my life. New Leaf is a criminal organization stealing from movers. They took my money and hired a carrier that was banned by the DOT (contract breach) and held my belongings hostage for 2 months until I got the help of the Atlanta police to seize my belongings in storage and move them myself. New Leaf was rude, non responsive, and never took responsibility for hiring an illegal carrier. They still owe me $10k since we paid half of the move and they DIDN’T MOVE MY BELONGINGS.

Check Facebook. New Leaf had to take down their page because they had 1 star and so many complaints. Check the BBB and FMCSA/DOT complaints. This is the worst company in the world and needs to be shut down. Rebecca Reid (owner) should go back to jail where she belongs.

Long-distance move from Green Valley, AZ to Leland, NC

Fraudulent, Dishonest, Deceptive Switch & Bait Company

Due to a quick house sale and non-availability of the top-rated cross country moving companies, I contacted New Leaf Moving Group out of Boyton Beach, Florida. They responded immediately. Steve Williams, the first agent I spoke to, reassured me that all of my questions and concerns would be taken care of - why else would they receive a top rating from GetMovers.com? And, then I tried hanging up as I was on a fact-finding mission at this point and needed to discuss my options with my 30-year husband. This is when everything went completely haywire. Steve started talking faster, threatening me with increased costs if I hung up; told me I didn’t need to speak with my husband as I had 72 hours to cancel with no penalty; he told me their great reputation demonstrated their placement in the online list; he repeatedly stated he had my back, gave me his personal number for any questions; New Leaf had many reputable movers who could meet my move out date in 2 weeks, and not to worry about your list as he included “extra” space, on and on. So, I signed under incredible duress. This was a Friday afternoon. Based on the stress of my quick house sale and the New Leaf agent tactics, I was drained and shaking at the end of my conversation. I started reviewing the estimate immediately to learn it was all wrong. Items were missing, seemingly undersized, duplications, etc. I tried calling back during that 72 hours and you get someone else (in Customer Service or Quality Assurance) who appears to be much smarter and catches many of the errors without any mention from me. Now the price is several thousand dollars greater. Another review finds the list still not reflective of what I discussed. Yes — more money. By this time, your entire nervous system sees a huge red flag of switch and bait. I went to Central Florida BBB site and found 135 recently filed complaints and even more on Yelp. I spoke with BBB to learn that they have assigned a dedicated agent just for this company’s complaints. So, I did the smart thing. I cancelled. Then I lost my $5,100 deposit. I wrote a letter to Rebecca Reid, the New Leaf President, with no response. They don’t allow you to speak with anyone higher than a low level customer service person who reminds you repeatedly that your cancellation occurred after the 72 hours; therefore, you lose your deposit. Never mind that you tried cancelling only to be thwarted and threatened and ignored in trying to do so. If you don’t believe that this is an actual experience, you need to read all the complaints on the sites I mentioned above. They are similar and consistent. Do not use this company. They are fraudulent, dishonest and taking client’s money after we discover the deception. Shocking what they have done to so many people. I am sharing my story in hopes that others will not find themselves in the same bind as I when reputable companies are not available on short notice.

Long-distance move from Dallas, TX to Chicago, IL

SCAM

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

Many problems with this broker:

1. I was quoted $7,000 and when the moving company they contracted (Jackson Movers) arrived, they said it was an underestimate and that it would be $10,700. How a 1 bedroom, 1,000 sqft condo can go from 650 to 1,000 cubic feet of mostly lightweight Ikea furniture is beyond me, however, I had to sign a new contract and new estimate with Jackson Movers or they would not complete the move. I asked the movers to measure or weigh my belongings, however they refused to do so. My schedule was too tight and it was too late of notice to argue, so I signed and allowed them to load the truck. I later complained to New Leaf and no follow-up was performed until it was time for delivery and I made a second complaint. They submitted and inquiry but I am waiting to see if they will refund me for the gross overestimate.

2. I was originally told by New Leaf that I would have a smaller truck pick up and deliver my belongings (as opposed to a semi truck). A smaller truck did come for loading. However, after pickup Jackson movers later transferred my things into a semi truck. They could not deliver to my new address because of the size of the semi and charged me an additional $1,000!!! I called New Leaf to resolve the issue and they did NOTHING about it. They said it was up to the discretion of the driver. However, I spoke to my leasing office who confirmed that semi trucks had delivered to the address before!! Jackson Movers would not release my belongings until I paid IN FULL BEFORE UNLOADING IN CASH OR MONEY ORDER. THIS IS A SCAM. They make you pay this way because they are holding your belongings hostage and know you will pay whatever they ask and won't be able to contest the charges!!!!

3. I was initially told my New Leaf that delivery process would start prior to the time I arrived at my address so that the spread (Estimated delivery date) would be 5-7 days after that. THIS WAS NOT COMMUNICATED TO THE MOVING COMPANY. When the new contract was created, they said that first date of delivery was the time the move would initiate, not when it would arrive, which put me back 5 days I was sleeping on the floor in an empty apartment!!

4. Customer service DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. They do not care to resolve any issues, They will only refer you to statements in the contract THAT WAS SIGNED UNDER DURESS. They do not care what was promised to you, how to improve or make it better, and if you refuse to PAY EVERYTHING UP FRONT IN CASH, they will keep all of your things and THREATEN TO CHARGE YOU FOR STORAGE AND RE-DELIVERY.

Do not trust New Leaf Moving Group

This company is a scam. They have not shipped my stuff. They sent a truck that did not contain my belongings and I have been trying to find out where my stuff has been for the past month and a half and have not received any definitive information other than lies so they can get us off the phone. Very unprofessional, do not trust them and do not give them your money.

Awful

My salesman gave me a low ball bid and pressured me to sign the contract. He asked for a moving date and I told him I did not have a date yet, that it could possibly be 10 months later, he said no problem and said it would be a floating date but he needed to put down a pickup date, I again told him I did not have date yet. So he said no problem he would just put down a date and just put one in, I asked if anything would happen if the date was going to be months later, he again assured me that it was not a problem. I asked if it were months later would I be penalized and he said no I would not be penalized at all. I finally agreed and he said he needed a deposit of one third of the total, I objected to paying a deposit and he said nothing would happen to it, he then explained I could only lose 5% if I canceled the move altogether, his only concern was the deposit and not me. I emphasized I did not want to lose my deposit and he assured me that could not happen. I agreed and then they brought someone on the line that reviewed the contract. She went over the details and I expressed the same concerns I had with the salesman, that I had no pickup date, that it could be up to a year, she assured me it was ok! I told her the salesman put the pickup date it and that there wa no way that date was good. She said all I had to do was change the pickup date, I asked if I would be penalized and she said NO, the most I could lose was 5% and that was only if I canceled the move. So we hung up, with me understanding I could change the date as I needed. That I would not lose my deposit, only 5% and that would only happen if I canceled.

Well as it has worked out I had to cancel the move entirely and now they refuse to give back my deposit because I changed the pickup date! I was assured by my salesman and the lady that went over the contract. The didn't even have the professionalism to call me, the sent an email from customer service.

This company pressured me to sign a contract by lying to me over and over again. I do not think they can be trusted, nothing but a pack of liars and thieves in my opinion!
