Long-distance move from Gold Canyon, AZ to Bristol, TN

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Initial estimate $5,000. Final cost nearly $12,000 and waited 7 weeks to get our furniture. This is a SCAM. All of our household items arrived in a 20 foot rental truck because our new home is on a somewhat narrow street, and

it cost hundreds of extra dollars. I talked to and emailed Johnathan at New Horizons asking for an explanation of the higher costs. He never responded. We are an elderly couple and New Horizon stole thousands of dollars from us.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Long-distance move from Charlottesville, VA to Altoona, PA

Please do not use this moving company

I had been in communication with customer service several times to confirm pick up TIME and PRICE - was told movers would show between 3-6pm, was told to please be at my apt the entire time, movers didn't show until 7:30pm. Initial estimate on moving day from customer service was $800; movers show up tell me $2000 at pick up and drop off. My list of items - mattress, boxspring, dresser, couch, coffee table, bar stools, 2 rugs. In total I ended up paying 3x the amount I was told. Movers only took cash - I didn't have the money & had no way to get the money. Ended up writing a personal check, my items couldn't be delivered until the check was deposited, was told my belongings would be delivered within 1-7 business days. On the 7th day, movers said they would arrive at 2:00, changed to 10:00 because of "traffic", didn't show until 10:45. They delivered all of my items + an extra boxspring. So now I have a boxspring I don't need and someone didn't get theirs. They also folded my mattress in half.

Not a moving company !! A BROKER - Dont be fooled

Do not trust this sham of that claims to be a "moving company" they are only a "broker" they never send New Horizon moving trucks or employees. They take your deposit, send an outside company which then upcharges you thousands of dollars for your move. I had to sadly learn the hard way and the purpose of this post is to help anyone else who is possibly deciding to use them. Do your research and dont let the numbers fool you. Hire a Full Service company if you can or rent a van and hire helpers to do the heavy lifting.

Long-distance move from Maricopa, AZ to Sugar Land, TX

Horrible experience

This is not a moving company they hire outside vendors. The vendors hired are not reliable, very rude, and unprofessional. The moving insurance is a joke if anything is missing or broken you are reimbursed .60 for every pound that item weights. I would never use this company again and I would never recommend it. They need to make sure they are hiring reliable vendors and taking care of their customers. Communication is rough as well.

Absolutely Avoid New Horizon

Moving is always difficult, but New Horizon makes the experience truly horrible. My brother and I both used this company since we were moving at similar times, and it is obvious to us that their business practice is scam-like in nature. They did to my brother what they did to me- severely underquoted, required a hefty binding deposit after agreement, called a week before the move-out date with an "inventory check" that resulted in a 50-100% higher moving estimate than what was originally quoted, and charged even more on the actual move-out date because even more space than what was included after the "inventory check" did not cover what was needed on the truck. What is more, they are not a moving company. They are a broker, and the people that show up to take your belongings have high variance in professionalism. I had luck with my movers, but my brother did not. My furniture was well-wrapped and stored, and his was very poorly handled. He had 2 destroyed pieces of furniture, a broken floor lamp, holes in and scrapes on his leather couch, and noticeable scuffs on much else. If you continue to read the comments below mine, you will see that this is not an uncommon experience with New Horizon. I also recommend you look at their Better Business Bureau page to see their F rating. Do not let the initial price tag or any discounts they give fool you like they did us. Absolutely avoid them.

Long-distance move from Valley Center, CA to Port Orange, FL

Fraud, Extortion, Destruction and Loss of Property

Please do not use, Blue Horizon Moving and Storage. In April 2022, I searched the internet for movers, and soon after I received several unsolicited calls from New Horizon Moving and Storage. I decided to follow up on one of these calls. This was one of the worst decisions in my life.

At first, we thought they were legit. We ended up giving them $12000 to destroy my precious family heirlooms and belongings. We decided to use professional movers because we are in our 70s and disabled. We paid New Horizon extra for special handling and packaging of our prized possessions. We were charged for things we never received.

After my belongings did not arrive on the agreed-on date and not receiving any contact, we contacted New Horizon repeatedly requesting the location of our belongings and delivery schedule. After three calls, we eventually were told that they did not know where our belongings were but when they found them they would arrive in between 7 to 21 days. A couple of days before delivery, we received a call from Move Pro LLC. (This is the first time we learned that Move Pro LLC was our mover). We were told that our items would be delivered in a few days and to pay via money order (this would be our third and final payment). We did not hear from them again until a call on Sunday morning informing us that they would arrive in about 4 hours. We hired helpers at the last minute to remove our bed and other items to make room for the furniture.

They arrived about 10 hours later on Sunday evening in a Penski rental truck. The movers were unkempt and wore flip-flops. They only had one very cheap dolly. The furniture had not been padded or protected in any way. It was night but we could see that the boxes were crushed and seriously damaged. Once they received our money orders. At that point, they tried to extort more money from us. They refused to unload the truck unless they were given hundreds of dollars more. Finally, after about 30 minutes when we threatened to call the police they started throwing our belongings off the truck and scattered our belongings throughout our home.

We had paid New Horizon for special handling and packaging of my Lladro collection, the family heirlooms were smashed and broken. The movers had thrown them in a large empty box without any padding or packaging. My tiffany lamps were thrown into a garment box without any packaging or padding and were completely destroyed. Over half of the boxes were crushed and our belongings were destroyed. Our tv which we had paid for special packaging, was wrapped in a blanket and destroyed. Our furniture was scratched and pieces were missing.

The movers were very aggressive and intimidating. They tried to extort money from us a second time. They stopped unloading the truck and refused to move the rest of our belonging still in the truck. We had a standoff again. After 30 minutes we gave them $150 to unload the rest of our belongings. Pieces of our bed and other belongings were missing and thrown around our home. At 2 am, they refused to finish the job.

After three weeks, I still find myself crying. We hired two people to help us clean up the mess. We have already spent about $1000 to pay helpers. We still have about 75 boxes and bags to unpack. We have gone through about 20 boxes already and continue to find crushed and damaged belongings. This was not negligence this was intentional destruction of our property and retaliation because we refused to be extorted.

The next morning, we contacted Blue Horizon and the person who answered was very kind and listened to my crying and description of what was done to our property. We were emailed a claim form to complete which we completed and returned. We never heard back from New Horizon. After reading reviews of Move Pro LLC we learned that this was a consistent pattern and many others had similar experiences. I read more reviews and reread all of my correspondence with New Horizon, it became evident that there was some relationship between Move Pro, Capital Movers, and New Horizon. I did not hear back from New Horizon despite my passionate request for help, I was never contacted by Blue Horizons.

I called them again yesterday. Just retelling the story left me crying and in despair. When we did not hear back from New Horizon, I started filing complaints with the various agencies listed on Dot and state sites. It has been difficult to complete the forms because I live through this nightmare over again each time. We have pictures and a witness who was there for most of the time until we sent him home about midnight. We have not heard back from any of the agencies yet.

Please do not make the mistakes we made. Read reviews and use reputable movers.

Long-distance move from Durham, NC to Ferndale, WA

Terrible Company, Stay Away

Awful broker service and terrible moving company. Was often given conflicting information, communication was poor, and sometimes staff was rude. Quotebetween the company and the moving company it contracted with was $2000. The moving company was absolutely the worst in every way from a 3month lapse from pick up to delivery, increase in cost, many broken and lost items and almost no communication and so much more. Do NOT use this company at any cost.

DO NOT HIRE!!!!

This is a third party company once they set you up for a move they wash their hands of everything. I was quoted 8k to move from AZ to CO. The company they hired showed a day late said I didnt get a big enough truck and needed 1.5 truck. They charged me a total of 13k, stuff was left behind they never showed back up. I had to rent uhaul take things to a pod another 2500.00. They showed up in CO things are missing and broke. I filed a claim with CSI per New Horizon, who refused to help with the company they hired. They Never responded to my BBB complaint. Now CSI dropped the claim saying the company is no longer with them. Horizon said its not them to call the company they hired, they cant help me. That is all I ever here from them, no help and walked away from it all. Now I have to contact the company they hired and pray I get help with my claim. Over 10k damaged and missing on top of all they extra. Stair charges 225.00 was to be 75.00 per my horizon contract, rent a uhaul and pod. DO NOT HIRE THEM! COntact me for more info if needed

Long-distance move from South Carolina to California

Complete Scam

This company is a complete scam!!! They are a broker company but they will hide that from you. You will never be able to get ahold of the person who signed the contract with you and when you reply to the email, Gmail will tell you that email doesn't exist. They will give you a low estimate to bait you in but the moving company charge you a ridiculous amount of extra money when they show up on the day of the move. When you try to get ahold of someone for any sort of issues, they will brush you off and tell you there's nothing they can do. This company is a joke and I hope everyone who works there get karma for scamming people. PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!

Absolutely terrible, rude, scammers

This is an awful scam of a "moving company". It is a moving broker who will hire the worst, cheapest mover they can find, take your money, then leave you out to dry. They will underquote you to draw in, then they will charge you whatever they feel like. I was quoted 4k and was forced to pay over 10k once my items were on the truck. As soon as they place you with one of their terrible movers, they will cut off contact with you and not help. What did I even pay them for? They did not move my things, connect me with a good mover, help me with insurance after my things were lost/broken, or even treat me with respect. I cannot overstate how horrible this company is. I am surprised that this predatory company is not operating illegally.
