Long-distance move from Pueblo, CO to Pompano Beach, FL

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!!

The people from this company will tell you anything to get you to book your move with them and then if you fall for their tricks they will call you 3 days before pick up and double or triple the cost of your move because you forgot to mention your beds have headboards! When the movers got here at 11:37 at night they were awful. They smelled like pot and asked my husband if he could give them a hand moving things out of the house and told us it would be another $2,372 on top of everything else because New Horizon [the broker previously known as Capitol City] under estimated our cubic feet to make my price appear lower. After reading all of the other reviews I was sold but now that I've hired them and witnessed first hand I can see that those reviews are all fake and were most likely purchased. I wish I would've got a U-Haul or hired a real mover that doesn't send thugs to pick my items up.

Long-distance move from Maricopa, AZ to Rapid City, SD

Not a moving company. This is a brokerage.

After misleading me to believe I was receiving a moving truck to move out 4 bedroom, 3 bath, 2 story, 2200sqft home, they got a deposit from me of $1900. The quote was only estimated for 737cuft, that will never be enough space for this size of home. There salesman assured me it would be fine and our quote would not change. Jump to a week before we are set to move, the QA specialist calls to itemize our move & then doubling the cost. At this point the deposit is non refundable. After reading more terrible reviews & dealing with the outright lies, we chose to cancel. Their Customer service supervisor, Jonathan was awful. He rude & unprofessional. When I told him I didn't like the way he was speaking to me, he told me that was my problem not his. After he claimed to have listened to my recorded sales call to determine whether or not their salesman mislead me, his demeanor changed. He admitted that the salesman may have insinuated things, but since he never said the words "free of charge" I wasn't eligible for a refund because they are not responsible for how I understand things. Jonathan also stated that if I decide to dispute the charge with my bank it would be fraud. However, my bank said this is untrue. So he used that as a scare tactic. This company is not a moving company. They are a scam, a useless middle man. They outsource the movers. They do not own moving trucks or employ movers. They should be shut down.

Long-distance move from Utah to Texas

SLC to Texas

NEVER.... EVER.. call these people, we left a 2 bed apartment, but gave all our furniture in our living space to thrift to make up for the extra boxes, so no change from estimate in space used.

No communication, ignored some emails, only called when they wanted money.

Gave us a date and time to move for the 20th

at 8-10 am and the company they passed us too called to say they are coming, by 1.30 still nothing, rang late afternoon to say they would come 2-3pm the next day, whilst we'd sat and waited.

Quoted $2900, ended up at $5550 after arriving to pick up our things and then 12 hrs before deliver (10 days after the supposed delivery date), told us they couldn't get a semi down the drive so they can either deliver and leave it on the road, or transfer our things to a smaller truck and it will be another $700 on top, so for $6250 from $2900 we were robbed.

What a scam.

If l could have given a minus 5 red stars l would have.

New Horizon Movers, are not movers, they are brokers.

Never trust a word they say.

Horrible Service

This has to be the worst moving company in history of moving companies! New Horizon picked up my belongings June 30th. As of the time of this post, I still have not received my belongings (August 19th). I spoke on the phone with the movers this evening, and I rightfully asked what is New Horizon's plan to rectify this issue. I have been without furniture, clothes, cooking supplies, electronics devices, etc. for over a month and 20 days. When I asked that question, the mover responded with, "There's nothing to be done. We're delivering your belongings when we can." I then asked for a partial or a full refund. He then said, "No. You will not get a refund because we are having to spend extra money to rent a U-Haul to get you your belongings." Someone please explain to me how it is my fault they have to spend extra money to get me my belongings?? I have paid for my move in-full, they have had my belongings for 1 month and 20 days..., and it's somehow my problem?? I'VE had to spend extra money to buy clothes, shoes, etc. just to be able to go to work everyday because they have all my belongings!!

This company has been very unprofessional with their communication, fulfilling contracts, and customer service! And to make matter worse there still is not a resolution! I asked the mover to put themselves in my shoes-- knowing I've paid for the move already, they have all my belongings, and that I have held my end of the contract, but New Horizon has not... and he did not answer the questions.

Long-distance move from Georgetown, TX to Green Bay, WI

FRAUD COMPANY

New Horizon Moving and Storage is beyond deceitful. They mislead you into thinking they are a reputable moving company when they provide you with a binding estimate that states they will be the main point of contact for your move going forward. Once you have signed the estimate with them and pay them a deposit they will then contract out a criminal to pick up your life possessions.

My binding estimate was signed with New Horizon Moving and Storage. A deposit was made and job number was given to me with a first available delivery date of 7/8/2022. They sent a "mover" to pick up everything I own on June 27th. The delivery spread per New Horizon's estimate stated that delivery was 6-14 days per the distance of my move. Per FMCSA the mover legally has 21 days (not including weekends or holidays) from the first available delivery date.

I called New Horizon Moving and Storage on 7/13/22 to ask for a status update since I could never get in touch with the "mover" they sent. (His business phone# is a cell phone that is never answered and has no voicemail set up). He also has a criminal record a mile long, which you will not learn of until this type of situation happens to you because you would expect the company that you paid upfront (New Horizon Moving and Storage) would have verified who they contract out to show up on moving day and load a persons possessions. (The mover is a whole second review in itself)

On 7/13/22 an employee at New Horizon Moving and Storage

informed me that my belongings were picked up 2 days prior and I would have a call by Friday with a delivery date. After not receiving a call I called back on Saturday and a different RUDE employee asked why I keep calling them when they are the broker and then proceeds to tell me

my items are sitting in storage and that is where they will remain for 30 days since it was on the estimate (I did not agree to 30 days of storage EVER). I called back on 8/2/22 and was again told that my belongings were going to be picked up that week and in transit, but as I assumed before the day even came, that was a lie to get me off the phone and to quit calling for a few days. I called 8/8/22 (the legal # of days for my possessions to be delivered) and was put on hold for 20 minutes by another employee who stated my belongings would be delivered at the end of the following week (2 more weeks I was going to have to wait after being told twice prior by a New Horizon Moving and Storage employee that my belongings were in transit). I finally had to go to the police and report my items missing which of course prompted A so called manager to call me and go through his circle of excuses which I didn't care to listen to anymore lies from anyone at this company at this point. The manager couldn't even tell me where my items were at in transit or being stored. His response to me was "I am trying to help you figure that out and I don't need you to tell them how to do our job because I already know that he is late with delivering"

I have now been sitting in a completely empty home for over a month due to New Horizon Moving and Storage

contracting out a criminal and then taking no accountability for their neglegant business practice. Why would they care about what they are doing to others though when they have already been paid?

Please do yourself a favor and research a reputable company even if the estimate shows a higher dollar amount for the move. Once New Horizon Moving and Storage provides you an estimate and contacts out a "mover" to load everything that you have on a truck they are going to demand double or tripple the amount that was agreed to on the original estimate anyway and you will have to pay it if you ever expect to see your belongings again. I paid

the amount that was demanded and I am still sitting with no communication from the mover and no resolution from New Horizon Moving and Storage on when my belongings will be delivered or where anything is even being stored.

Long-distance move from Washington, DC to Ronkonkoma, NY

Still trying to get more money 2 months later

This company has the worst customer service, can't contact their own contractors, and failed to manage every part of our move.

After our initial quote and deposit, we received a "quality assurance" call to make sure we had allotted enough space on the truck. At the conclusion of this call our quote was doubled in spite of the fact that we had the same amount of stuff as the initial assessment.

We were told we would be on the back of a truck with other people's stuff. We were instead loaded onto an empty truck, and again charged for MORE space, a long carry (they only cover moving things 50ft), and potentially more to have our things delivered in a timely manner.

Our move was only 250 miles and the original quote stated that delivery would happen next day. Upon pick-up the movers told us they could hold our things anywhere from a week to a month before reaching our final destination, but a note was made to deliver ASAP. A week later after no contact from the mover we called New Horizon who couldn't help us because they're a broker and told us to contact the movers.

"The same movers that picked up?" we asked.

"Yes," they answered "it will come from the same."

But it was not delivered by the same movers, we got new movers and very UNPROFESSIONAL movers at that. These guys were young, complained about their drive that morning (New Jersey to Long Island), and all but insinuated that our attitude towards them affected our service. They again wanted to charge us for a long carry, so we asked them to leave our belongings in the lobby and we finished taking them up to our apartment with hand trucks from our building. Then they had the audacity to give us attitude when we wouldn't leave them one of the hand trucks to unload.

But wait there's more! Upon completion they were in a rush to have their paperwork signed so they could leave, and when we inquired about any type of insurance for damages, they again made it seem as if our attitude towards them affected whether or not they would relinquish such paperwork!

And now, two months later they have contacted us again to say that a check we wrote in June (that "Quality Assurance" call) bounced and they still want the deposit after the fact. We were required to have cash in hand before our stuff would even be pulled off the truck so how it took them two months after drop-off to figure out that a deposit didn't go through should speak volumes to what a horribly run company we had the displeasure of dealing with.

Not the greatest experience

I received a quote from this company and decided to hire them. I paid the deposit and signed the paperwork. I was given a date and time for my QA appointment. A couple weeks before the appointment I emailed the representative to inform them that I had quite a bit more to add to my inventory. I never received a response. I should have called at that point, but I sent an email because I was very busy. This was a very last minute move and my stress level was high. The time came for our QA appointment and the representative called an hour late. I had to be at work and my husband did not completely know what was going on. The representative said he would call us back in the evening, he never did. I called the following morning after waiting to receive a call but received nothing. I spoke with a woman and told her I was very concerned about my move not happening. I explained to her that my QA appointment did not happen and I have a lot more inventory. I asked her how I would know how much my move would cost. She said not to worry, the movers will give me a final price when they get there. Now I paid about $950 for the down payment and had a balance of about $2400. I knew I would have to pay half at pick up and the other half at drop off. I did add inventory so I expected to pay more, I figured it may go up about $1000 so I would need to pay $1200 at pick up and drop off. The movers came on the very last window day-the day we had to leave. The movers were very nice, but the final price they gave me made my heart drop. My final balance by the time they were done increased from $2400 to $5200. It more than doubled. And there was nothing I could do because it was Sunday afternoon, and we needed to get on the road. When New Horizon called me on Monday to see how the move went I explained to them my dissatisfaction with the final price. They told me to send them the paperwork with the increased price. I sent it and heard nothing from them until I called on Friday. The representative I spoke to this time told me he would put in a request for some kind of refund. I have heard nothing from them. I will never use this company again. I will not recommend them to anyone.

Total Sham

I would not use these people again if my life depended upon it ! They lied about everything ! Then they took an extraordinary amount of time to deliver the household items that were needed ! These people were called for a move from Louisiana to Florida. They gave us an estimate in writing. When the movers got there they doubled the square footage of the apartment and charged more. The square footage they had was correct. The people that came to get the items did not speak english. They loaded everything up into the truck and then said they were going to charge more. When they were called to ask where the items were that were supposed to be delivered over a month ago and told that the police would be called they laughed. Then they took an extra 3 weeks to deliver the items. If you like pain suffering and the feeling of going to hell call these people they're made for you.

Worse experiance moving.

His place is just a Broker, not a moving company. They are a joke as they gave me a descent quote for $5100, which was was before I even started packing and knowing how much stuff I actually have. I had to give a $1880 deposit and they gave me a $800 reduction for the total, which we would only get if we signed right away with them. I looked on-line at their reviews and they were all very bad, so I tried to cancel and was told after 3 days we could not get our deposit back and it was after that when I tried. I was going to go with them until they called a few days before pick-up and got a re-inventory and they upped it another $3500 for a total of $8600. The wanted another $2000 right then and would not even wait another 20 min or so, then I just cancelled it and got a truck thru Penske to move myself. Now, I have no worries about them holding my stuff hostage to pay even more money when they deliver it and no worries about things getting stolen or broken.

Move in June

Regrettably, during my move in June, one of my items was lost. For the next four months I tried to get compensation, but heard nothing from the company. When I called them in September, they said that unfortunately a third-party company was to provide compensation and that New Horizon were no longer liable for losses or damages. I would urge anyone reading this review to find a different moving company, as my $200 item will not be compensated.
