Moving Home Company

We moved from Paris, France to Sydney, Australia in February 2015.  I don’t recommend Moving Home Company for big international moves. Although our experience initially was positive, it was all downhill after the arrival of our goods in Sydney and the lack of communication we have had since, regarding damages to some of our boxes. We chose Moving Home Company based on the fact they had a base/warehouse in France, on the competitiveness of their quote, and also on the quality and speed of email and phone assistance we were  getting from Emilie at their UK base. (We have since been informed Emilie sadly doesn’t work there any more). In Paris, the collection of our goods went very smoothly, no complaints there. The removal guys were great, and Emilie was quick to answer any questions we had. But when our goods arrived in Australia in mid April, several of our 50 or so boxes had been badly damaged. Of course, damage CAN happen on a big international move, but to us it looked like the damage had been caused by some very wreckless handling.. possibly involving a forklift. Conroy Removals had been arranged by Moving Home Company to deliver our goods at the Australian end. They may not have caused the damages, we’ll never know, but they certainly seemed to suspiciously “misplace” the Delivery Report on which we’d noted all the damages at the time of delivery and which we needed for an insurance claim. We felt this was something that MHC, as the overall coordinators of the move, should be aware of and look into for us. They never did, or, if they did, we never got any feedback. An email apology and some vague promise of looking into it and getting back to us by “Customer Services”. Nothing to date, despite my persistent emailing. So sadly, despite very good initial service, I wouldn't recommend them for an international move. “We present a dedicated service to our customers and we appreciate that moving can be a stressful experience”.. so says their website. Stressful it certainly is. Dedicated service once they have been paid, it is not.

We moved from Paris, France to New York City, USA. The first exchange with the company was professional, with a fair price for the package and moving of a small volume of goods, essentially books and some china. We chose Moving Home Company for their fair quote as well as the quality and quick responses from the customer service at the time of the quoting. The delivery time was then estimated between 6 and 8 weeks, which seemed fine for unessential goods to cross the Atlantic ocean.
However, things started getting a bit worrisome when we had to call them at least a dozen times in order to get a pickup date. We finally got one a week before, right on time to be able to get a parking permit for the truck from the city services. However, 48 hours before the D day, we got a call saying that the pickup was put forward for the following day! Luckily we were ready. The pickup team from Moving Home was very professional and took good care of the goods.
10 weeks after, we hadn't heard from Moving Home and contacted them to have an update on the delivery date. We then learned that the goods were still in the UK and wouldn't be delivered before another month or so after it would be shipped from the UK to Miami ! Not exactly the shortest way to NYC.
An American company was then arranged by Moving Home to deliver our goods. We had no problem for Moving Home to use a subcontractor until we received from that sub an email asking to sign new terms and conditions! We of course refused to sign them, and after several tries to contact MH customer service, we got a very vague response from them basically saying that it wasn't their problem and we should deal with the sub directly. On the delivery day, the subcontractor persistently required us to accept their own terms and to pay for an extra fee for a service that was included in the initial contract with MH! Not to mention that the boxes were badly damaged, some torn, others bottom up.
We are sorry guys, but when we cannot handle an international move not that big actually, we simply don't sell it.

I moved with MHC from Paris to London a month ago, from the beginning to the end the move went smoothly. The staff in the office were professional and proactive! The surveyor who came to our property in france was friendly and knew exactly the type of service we needed. The movers were nice, friendly and hard working. We also used their hoist service to get my new sofa in. Both times they have given us a fast and friendly service. So happy I used them defintely recommend. No damages all items received unpacked checked and they took away all the empty debris. A big thank you to MHC team!

I'd like to complement my former review (http://www.removalreviews.co.uk/movers/moving-home-company-127#12286) of the Moving Home Company. Indeed, I recently had to plan for a partial moving back to Paris. This time, I carefully selected the removals company AFTER having read the reviews on this website. I selected UK EU Removals which is a great moving company. I rated them 5 stars. And I CONFIRM my 1-star rating for the Moving Home Company on the bais it is not possible to put zero star. Even the treatment of my claim back then was a disgraceful experience. So, when moving, FIRST read the reviews - all the reviews, beyond the first ones - and then select a company with consistently decent/good ratings.

This is a little footnote to my previous review. About an hour after I posted it Manuela emailed me with the following: "Dear A, We are in pick season here and under pressure mistakes can happen. I don’t believe you have the right to paste our correspondence and mention my name in a public review website without consent. I will forward this to our legal department and they will take the matter further. Yours Sincerely Manuela Perrotta" I'd like to think that her "legal department" will tell her that being mad because a dissatisfied customer - who gave her ample opportunity to correct this situation - has posted an accurate and truthful recounting of their experience does not constitute defamation or slander, but I don't know what kind of internet lawyers they deal with.

Moving Home Company agreed to handle my small move (4 cubic metres) from Wurzburg (near Frankfurt, Germany) to Aberdeen (UK) on rather short notice, after the company I had originally wanted to use backed out unexpectedly. I was quite happy with the company and the Customer Service was good. The salesperson told me that they might have to put my goods in storage "for a few days" before they would be delivered to my new address. This was fine with me. Pick-up at my old flat was a few hours later than expected, but I guess you cannot always plan to the minute when doing removals, so I did not mind that too much. It was after the pick-up of my goods that the trouble started. I did not hear anything from the company regarding a delivery date and when I contacted them after 10 days, I was promised that someone would call me back at the end of the week with a delivery date for the following week. That call never came. I then called them again the following week and was again promised a call at the end of the week with a delivery date for the following week, which again did not happen. This went on for several weeks and even after I pointed out that I did not believe that someone would call me back any more, I was promised that this time someone would definitely call me back with a delivery date. Of course, no-one ever called and I started to feel like an idiot for believing them again and again. In the meantime, my goods - which had only been packed to be in their containers for a few days - had been in storage for weeks while Moving Home Company's employees ensured me that they were still there (=not stolen) and dry and everything.  After waiting for five weeks for a delivery date, I was getting ready to rent a transporter to drive down to London (where my goods were apparently stored) and pick them up myself. I asked for the company to pay the costs associated with this pick-up as well as to fully refund my money. Apparently, they were not too happy with this option, as they agreed to deliver the goods during the following week. Two weeks later - more than six weeks after the pick-up - I finally received my goods. They were clammy and it turned out that there was water damage on my couch. In addition, one of my scooter's mirrors had been broken off. I claimed these damages as soon as I noticed them, believing the insurance I had paid for when placing the order would cover them. However, that was three weeks ago and I have not heard back from the company. Reading through other reviews, it seems to be common practice of the company to have customers pay for insurance but then deny any claims, so I am not too optimistic that I will see any compensation for the damages done to my property. So overall: I did receive my goods after more than six weeks of waiting and calling the company, and most (but not all) of them were in an acceptable condition. The whole experience was very unpleasant and stressful and I would not recommend this company to anyone. What particularly bothers me is their lack of honesty. They seem to do everything to get the order and the associated money, but they apparently do not refrain from lying to your face as soon as you want anything from them afterwards. .

I used many different companies over the years since I move a lot for work and I was always very disappointed with both quality of the service and rudeness of people. However, I was positively surprised with the team I encountered! Once again, many thanks for everything and I wish you lots of success.

My posessions were collected on time in Munich with a commitment to deliver them in England the following week, It is now three weeks later and I have no idea where my stuff is or when I will recieve it. Although my contact at the Moving Company in Germany has been polite and the removal guys were helpful, my e-mails and telephone calls go unanswered and I am wondering if I will ever see my belongings again. Commitments have been broken and commuication is very poor. The service I have recieved from this company has been way below the level I expect and have paid for.

I would like to thank the whole MHC team for carrying out my move in such a stress free way! The move was perfect, the office staff were proactive and respond to all our queries on time. On the day of the move, the removal crew were helpful, polite and punctual.Would certainly use your services again and recommend our friends and family too! It was such a relief to see my goods being handled with so much care! Packing was professional and efficient! All our paintings were crated! On delivery, again very nice and helpful crew, all goods were delivered on time, furniture reassembled. It was one of the best removal experience I have ever had! Thanks to MHC .
