Long-distance move from Lynchburg, VA to Mason, OH

Relocation with Moving Forward is a big harassment with five year old.

Hi, This is Soumya Bandyopadhyay. I have moved my stuffs from Lynchburg, Virginia to Mason/Cincinnati, Ohio on 22nd Dec, 2017 with "Moving Forward Relocation LLC". As I am new to US so I have searched in google and found this relocation company. Now, this company says that they took $372 to book a truck only from "Capital One Vanline" Dot# 3062107. Anyway, the contract with them says either they will keep my stuffs for 30 days at max or when I'll be telling them to re-deliver to my new location at Ohio they will deliver it. Once I booked my apartment in Mason, Ohio, I called the driver from Capital One as suggested by Moving Forward guys and asked him to deliver my stuffs on 30th Dec, 2017 as "Moving Forward" guys told me that I need to communicate with the driver directly. The driver initially told me that he wanted to check the same with his manager and after that he did not response back. I called "Moving Forward Relocation LLC" to check the dates again as that driver was not responding. Strangely they started to tell me that driver is not even picking up their calls. After so many days of harassment they told me that driver picked up their call and he has told them that he will deliver my stuffs by 4th - 7th Jan, 2018. I requested them to deliver those on 4th as I am having a 5 years old kid who was also suffering with me & my wife. But, they did not even delivered by 7th Jan, 2018. After that they came up with a new date, 14th Jan,2018. They have not even delivered on that day. Now, they are saying my stuffs will be delivered on 01/19/2018. There are 3 parts of payment, on the day of booking I paid around $372 to "Moving Forward", on the day of pick up I have paid $400 in cash and at the time of delivery I need to pay the remaining amount $400.
In this whole process I have called the Driver of Capital One Vanline & "Moving Forward" guys more than 100 times but they did not even answer most of the time. But, it is a really very bad experience of mine with a 5 years old kid.

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to Houston, TX

I would not recommend.

I was told not to use this company but I refused to listen. I decided to give them a chance but I guess that’s my mistake. I got a quote and I made sure that this is what my quote would be with no changes and I also gave them an inventory of my items. They said it was under 2,000 lbs and as long as it’s under that, my quote would stay the same even if I ended up moving a few more items. I talked to them a few times just to make sure and they said yes, my quote will be the same. Come moving day, the mover showed up (mind you from a completely different company) and after they were done with everything, they said I would actually be paying $460 more than I was quoted. I was confused and I asked why. I asked the mover if my items were over 2,000lbs and if that was the cause of the exuberant charge. He no and that my items were well under 2,000lbs. He said I was being charge that because of “packing”. While they were packing my things, I was asked if I wanted additional packing because my dresser was “weak” and they don’t want to damage it during the move. They also said my TV stand needed additional packing. Before I agreed to said packing for both items, I asked how much they would be since they were additional and they said $116. So imagine my surprise when the moving guys were done and I was told I would be paying $460 more instead. I don’t know where these charges came from. I called moving forward to explain to them and needless to say, they weren’t any help. If I was quoted something, I expect that quote to be honored and I expect them to communicate with the moving company they outsourced my moving to. Another issue I had was when my things finally arrived, the moving guys would not even move my couch upstairs even though they were well aware that the couch would be moved upstairs at delivery. It is something that I had previously communicated with them so it wasn’t a last minute decision to have the couch go upstairs. That would have been inconsiderate. The moving guys left without putting the couch upstairs. They just left it in the garage and it’s still in the garage at this moment. I called moving forward to tell them what happened to see if they’ll be able to fix this and needless to say, they weren’t much help. They basically said there’s nothing they can do. Also, while my items were being moved in, the moving guys broke a very expensive mirror. I called moving forward yet again to let them know and they kept saying the movers will be in touch to file an insurance claim. Needless to say, said movers never got in touch. I had to keep calling over and over again. Finally moving forward said they would file the claim for me instead and that the insurance company would be in touch within 7-10 days. It’s been way over 10 days and no one got in touch. I even called to check to see what’s going on and they said they would check and get back to me. Needless to say, no one got back to me. At this point I am tired of calling. I would not be using this company again and I wouldn’t even recommend them. If you’re looking for a company to use, it’s best to get one that already has their own moving truck and not a broker because when issues come up, it’s hard to find the right person to talk to because you’ll keep going back and forth. If you do decide to use this company, I’d advice to budget a little extra cash because you might just end up paying more that you were quoted.

Long-distance move from Cleveland, OH to Tucson, AZ

Avoid!

Avoid!! This company is terrible! They have lied to me since day one. They told me they were not brokers and then sent another company to pick up my stuff (in a horse trailer!) for a move from OH to AZ. Chad (their customer service) told me that my belongings were in AZ two weeks ago and I found out they just left with my belongings from OH days ago! I have had to call them repeatedly to try to find out when I would get my belongings and they would say they would call back with an ETA but never called back. I have not had one phone call where they didn’t lie about something and their manager confirmed that they lied by listening to our initial phone call. Now, the company they hired to move my belongings called me this morning to let me know that they would be at my home in 2 hours! They initially said they would call the day before to inform me. I had to call off work for half of the day to be able to wait for them, they didn’t show in the timeframe provided so now I’m missing a full day of work. I have moved cross country 3 other times and have never had a problem with any moving company. Save yourself heartache and go with someone else! This company is full of sleezy sales people who are hired to lie their way through getting paid. Never again!

Long-distance move from Daytona Beach, FL to Mount Laurel, NJ

Awful Experience! do Not Use.

This has been the worst experience with any company I have ever had, let alone a moving company. I have moved multiple times in the last 8-10 years and utilized moving companies each time. There are always little issues but nothing major unlike with Moving Forward. We did an inventory of my 2 bedroom townhouse (I live alone) and I got my estimate and took care of the deposit because everything seemed reasonably priced. I chose the option to let the movers pack some of my things (Kitchen) but I packed most of my other things on my own. They show up without enough blankets to cover some of my larger items (TV, coffee tables) and just used boxes to cover the glass on those items and wrapped them in plastic wrap. Wouldn't you know it, I was charged for them using those boxes to pack. Also, they showed up without wardrobe boxes for my hanging items and said they would come back on Friday to give them to me. Well the guy calls Thursday while I am at work and says he is 40 minutes away when can I be there? I called him, he didn't answer but left a message saying I couldn't leave work because he said he would be back Friday. Told him to not worry about it I will pack them myself and drive them to my new home. He calls me back the next day (Friday) and asks why I never called him back. The company is now adding charges to my estimate saying it is 1000 lbs over the estimate yet, my estimate of items was accurate and the washer, dryer and grill that were on the original estimate were never loaded. They added fees for bulky items which I never heard anything about until I was told I already owe $1300 more than the original estimate. My customer service rep has been absolutely no help, stated he would get back to me each of the last two days and has not and also has not given me any answers to why I owe all these extra charges. I still haven't even gotten my things delivered, no one has given me a date or called to update me on a date though I asked on Sunday if they could deliver it the following Sunday. Still no response on that. I am sure they will try to charge me another $1000 somehow once they move my things in again. This has been such an awful experience and I wouldn't wish this one kind of service on anyone. BEWARE OF MOVING FORWARD RELOCATION AT ALL COSTS!!

Not honorable.

I was given an estimate for my move from Plains to Arizona. A few days before the scheduled pick up I received an email stating driver was having problems and another carrier wanted an additional $800 to move my things and if I didn't agree there was nothing else they could do.
I responded stating I disagree with additinal costs and would like a refund, Robert asked me to give him 2 hours to see if he can find a mover. Courtney called and stated they found a moving company and I would not incur any additional costs. When the moving company showed me the invoice there was an additional $436. Instucted moving company not to load anything, attempted to reach Courtney, left voice message. Spoke with Mike supervisor of moving company and informed that they will not be moving my things due to increase in cost
He agreed and their services would be canxelled
Spoke Courtney after the moving company left. Requested a full refund was instructed to send an email explaining what happened and he would call the next morning. No call from him, I called and was told Robert was handling. Asked for him to have Robert call me. Sent a follow up email. Now they are not returning my calls or emails.

Long-distance move from Storm Lake, IA to Daytona Beach, FL

Small Move--buyer Beware.

Contracted with Moving Forward with initial great customer service that deteriorated to none before household goods were even picked up. Supposedly their truck broke down and they would have to get another one. So pickup was 2 days late. Customer Service insisted that the move would go over the estimated weight so demanded that we have an additional $125.48 available at pickup. So we spent hours pulling out things that were heavy and put in the car instead. When movers did get there they were belligerent and said they go by cubic feet not weight. They immediately told my son that the move would cost more than $859 then the initial estimate regardless of the weight. I told them to take the stuff off of the truck and he refused to give my son the deposit of 625.48 back. I contacted customer service and they "struck a deal" and agreed upon an additional $250 which I had to pay. The household good will not even be weighed! So my estimate of $1699 is now $2199 for a studio size move. When I complained to Christiana I was told that it has to be profitable for everyone and she was already taking a loss on the move. That is not my problem! Now the movers told my son that his stuff may not arrive until May 25, when we explicitly said that it had to arrive by May 11. This is an awful and shady company. I do this for a living. I move Dept of the Army employees everyday. I have never seen anything like this. This is my first complaint. I will elevate to yelp and BBB. Do not use this company!!

Daughter's Move from Colorado to Nashville, TN.

Positive

My daughter and friend were moving across the country from Colorado to Tennessee and had never coordinated a move before. They looked into renting a **, but did not expect it to be as costly as it was going to be. I began researching moving companies and came across Moving Forward. I spoke with Carrie and she explained what they could do to help and took my daughter's information. Within 30 minutes or less, I had a very happy daughter on the phone telling me they had secured a moving company!! Even with an unexpected change in plans on my daughter's end, Moving Forward accommodated their changed moving date and arrived as scheduled, loaded, transported, and are now storing their items until they secure an apartment in Tennessee. They were very professional and efficient! We continue to have follow up conversations with Carrie and have been very pleased with Moving Forward's customer service and ability to make my daughter's move more affordable and much less stressful!

Long-distance move from Cheyenne, WY to Atlanta, GA

Worst moving experience ever.

Like others have stated in their reviews, we paid a non-refundable deposit and then the 2nd portion of our amount due for the broker service, which itself was more than we've paid for previous moves (for reference, we've moved 9 times, 5 of them cross-country). We spoke numerous times with the moving company they contracted for us and they gave us an estimate of $5700. Since we were going to be reimbursed $5000, we were fine with that amount. However, after waiting around for several hours day of the move, the movers called to tell us they were 2 hours away and (even though it was only noon) weren't going to come that day after all. The next day they never showed and didn't answer any phone calls. We called Moving Forward to let them know no one had come so they supposedly tried for two days to contact the movers with no luck. So they sent another company the 3rd day to get our stuff. We had never before spoken to this company and they repacked numerous items that were not "acceptable", charging us for every box and for their "service" of packing it for us. We're talking, packing boxes inside of boxes and small pieces of furniture inside boxes. Repacking alone cost us an extra $1400, and the rate they move for was nearly double what the first company had quoted us. We immediately called Moving Forward again to find out how they were going to make right the fact that we were now locked into a moving rate we would never have agreed to, that because they were late arriving we had to cancel the showing of our home that was for sale, and that our family vacation was completely cancelled. We were promised that management would give us a call back. They never called and after that point never even answered any further calls. We finally left a voicemail that if they wouldn't talk to us, we would put a stop payment on the 2nd portion of their fee until we could get it settled. They never did return our calls and in speaking with our credit card company, told them that WE were the ones being dishonest. In addition to the horrible job they did, the company they sent was horrible too. They damaged wood floors, ceilings, and walls in both houses, and broke 2 antique pieces of furniture. I also had numerous items inside the boxes broken. Never before have we had more than 1 or 2 things broken in a move, but somehow the "professionals" hired by Moving Forward managed to deliver quite a few. Unless you have money to burn and enjoy gluing and nailing broken furniture back together (as it was suggested that we do), DO NOT HIRE MOVING FORWARD.
