Moving direct van lines did a decent job (except for one guy named Jonathan — nasty guy) but the actual movers themselves will rip you off. The guy who came to pick up in California was forthright — he said he wanted a tip (although he did twist my arm for it) while the guy (his name is Jamshed Tolibov, based in the NYC area, Brooklyn I believe) who came to drop off the stuff was giving some BS reason about long carry and charged me an extra $275 (when I challenged him saying that the pickup guys did a longer carry (longer than at destination) and didn’t charge he said he’d measure it, I was like yeah go for it and he didn’t) which I paid for with Venmo (screenshot attached) since I didn’t have cash. And on top of it he wanted a tip! Also, he didn’t provide very great service, tried to leave my mattress by the elevator on some nasty carpet and had to be asked repeatedly to move it. He also tried to downplay damage — what a laugh riot! Remember the name JAMSHED TOLIBOV — he will not be professional but will RIP YOU OFF. I am going to contact moving direct. Let’s see what they do now.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6350

I was assured there would be no suprises by my salesman John.
The pickup driver arrived 2 days late.
After the truck was loaded and wife packed and ready to leave, Driver advised that now the cost to move would be $2000 more than quoted.
The delivery drive was also 2 days late, but since we did not have the extra $200 opted for the free storage.
No word from the company for over 30 days. Simon said that if we pay the balance in cash $3060 instead of the original $1060, they will waive the storage, which was 30 days free, release the load for pick up by us, or they will charge storage, reload and delivery charges. Really bad customer service. and communications sucks. Now the BBB says Moving Direct is no longer in business to seek legal advise for outstanding issues. Yea right, we are living in an empty house with out our stuff.

If I could have given A- number I would have. This move cost me $2,600 more than originally quoted, and I had not added anything. Even though Justin replaced my TV, there was so much more damage. Lamps were destroyed, my dining room table was gouged, my coffee table was gouged, my bike tires were punctured, my bed was ripped apart, I could go on. I asked for a claim for. It's 2 months later and I haven't received it. This was the most disastrous experience of my life. Sorry Justin. It was a nightmare in moving. Replacing my TV was honorable, but the rest of the damage was just too much. For what I paid for this move, I thought I could expect a little respect for my property.

I have had a terrible experience and was told multiple times that they would figure out compensation. My items were picked up late, delivered late, not put back together at the new house and many not even unwrapped. I called repeatedly and they just kept having me tell my story to another person who always said they'd figure out compensation. I spoke to Jodie several times and she was one of the many people who told me they would speak to upper management to get this resolved.

Original Quote - $8000 Charged an additional $4000 at pick up because I told them I needed beds moved but didn't specify that the beds would have a mattress and things like that. It was a small two bedroom apartment, but I wanted premium service so I was willing to pay the $8000.

I want compensation for all the items not put back together including all my outdoor furniture, couch, etc. Mattress was left in the wrapping paper on the living room floor. The broken items, I will go through insurance. They also left indoor furniture on the patio which of course got weather ruined and my outdoor furniture all broken wrapped or left in the boxes. Hopefully they will contact me for compensation. I hate having to leave a review like this. I requested $3500 back. I also want half of the extra $4000 back because many of the items they charged me extra for arrived broken or not put together.

Drivers on both sides were fantastic- Crews on both sides great but destination crew was literally the best I've ever seen- care for our belongings, amazing attitude, care for our home, great communication. Origin crew was great-managed well but a lot of guys and not so intuitive - Sales agent was correct on his communications up front and quote was accurate and moderate. A small crew for our 3400 sq ft home plus garage, were so professional and calming. Our new house at 4,000' altitude with a difficult driveway- one single door for 3 stories and no garage- so our tools and garage cabinets had to go to the bottom floor- these 3 handled every step with poise like I've never seen. And they weigh probably 380lb between all 3 of them- amazing ballet of moving we witnessed, with smiles and light hearted humor- these 3 took a normally crazy stressful process and made it painless and a pleasure. My wife and I were so happy during and at the end of the move- can't thank this team enough!

Moving is usually a very stressful life event, but it was enjoyable in the case of Smith and his crew at Moving Direct Van Lines. A partial move - they were very thorough in their questions and very careful with all furniture - wrapping all with attention to detail. Additionally, we could load bedding into a wardrobe box, simplifying the morning final details. I was organized enough even to have a cup of coffee nearby and left them in confidence. Arriving at my destination (Healdsburg), they were ready to unload and knew precisely where to place furniture both outside and in. Thank you, Smith and crew.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $34458

This Company is fantastic! We had a few pieces of furniture to move (sectional couch & dresser), and most places charged you 3 hrs. Minimum + other fees like gas, going up the stairs, etc. However, Moving Direct Van Lines set per hour, which was exactly what I was looking for! They were tremendous QUICK. My destination was only 10/15' driving distance: they wrapped the furniture, packed it, and loaded/unloaded it in 1 hour!!! Wow! Amazing! Very professional guys!!!

Moving Direct is not a moving company. They out source the moves. We received a quote and the day of the move it tripled. The caliber of the movers was very unprofessional. We paid for a full pack. The way they packed was throw anything and everything in large wardrobe boxes. The boxes weren’t marked. The way they stacked the storage unit we had to end up getting 2 units. This company is a joke. Go with a legit national company. We still can’t find things and many things are broken. Worst experience ever.

Did a recent long distance move from SC to TN. I'm not sure whether to blame Moving Direct for choosing such a terrible company to service their customers (Upscale Moving) or to blame myself for not just calling an actual moving company with reviews rather than relying on an intermediary company. But Upscale Moving tried very hard to charge an additional 2K on top of the quote price, which in the end they could not justify. The movers themselves were pretty terrible, very unprofessional and clearly untrained in packing and moving. It got so late at one point in the evening that they were just throwing our things unwrapped in the back of the truck. We got no paperwork, no list of goods, no number of boxes until a week after the moving date. Unsurprisingly, things were missing when our stuff got to TN. Not only that but the boxes were in such crappy shape, and an entire box was filled with pulverized glassware and kitchen bowls and our clothes were completely wrinkled from being tossed in the bottom of a giant box, though we had them on hangers. Upon informing moving direct of our destroyed property and then being told to contact upscale moving directly, I received an email from upscale moving saying, "fill out this form." No apology. No, "what can we do to make this right?" I get sick to my stomach everytime I think of what a stressful process this all was and how little care and attention our things were treated with for such a very hefty price tag. I haven't even included all of the issues we faced. Trust me and go with a company like Allied. I've moved all over the world in the past 10 years: Belgium, Qatar, Paris, DC. And this is the worst experience I've ever had.

  Be aware people. I had a terrible experience with them. They didn’t deliver my stuff on-time. Every time I called them about where are my things they said something different.   One day they called and said my things will be delivered next day and gave me the drive’s phone number. I called the driver and he said he will be here in 4 days since he was in Tennessee. Broken stuff, big holes in mattress box and finally I had 4 box of new Tommy Hilfiger men underwear in the drawer. One pack of each was stolen! Who steals underwear for god sake!  .

I have moved several times, and this by far is the worst experience I have ever had. I was sold on the Moving Direct Vanlines by Allan, who grossly misquoted how much my cost would be over the phone. I was quoted $1500, and my move was around $3000. I also reiterated to him, how important it would be for my stuff to arrive in California on June 22 as my family had taken time off that week to help me get settled. I was told by Allan that this would not be a problem. It is now July 1st, and my stuff was picked up in North Carolina on June 9th, and I still don't have anything. I've called Allan twice and no response. I have since found out, that Moving Direct Vanlines has gone out of business, and now is operated by Red Gold Logistics. Everyone I have spoken to over the phone at Red Gold Logistics is very nice, HOWEVER, nobody is taking responsibility for the delay.

I was also told by Allan that credit card would be accepted as a form of payment for the movers, however they only accepted cash or postal money order. I was told this as the movers were finishing up, luckily my bank was still open, but this was a huge surprise.

I will say that the movers who came to North Carolina and packed and moved my stuff were great. But it is now July 1st, and I am in an empty apartment with no stuff and nobody is taking any responsibility.

My review is a little different than others because I had to cancel my move (had nothing to do with Moving Direct). Their sales team is amazing and really helpful. I worked with David and he really made sure I felt completely at ease with all that was going on. Their quote was easily in line with, or cheaper, than competitors, and they were going to actually pack the truck, too, so bonus! This was worth any extra cost to me. When I had to cancel they understood and the owner himself reached out to me (in the midst of a personal trip he was on) and explained everything so I knew what was going on and that things were good on their end. I was a little anxious about that part, and the staff was understanding as I worked through it all. I know moving companies are dealing with staff and equipment issues because of covid, and I feel that Moving Direct Van Lines really did their best in helping get the initial move set up, and then later with helping me cancel and dealing with me when I was a little worked up. They really are a great company and I'm sure the move itself would have been done efficiently and smoothly.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4600

Gave them the three dates they wanted, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday no surprise they scheduled for Tuesday. Then told me the time would be 10 to 2. Was called at Noon and the driver couldn’t find my house, he had the wrong address. I told the the company I lived on a army base when I scheduled the move, so when the driver was surprised that I was on an army base I knew it was bad. Driver said he would get passes. I called the driver after 30 min and was told his boss said they couldn’t go on a military installation and they we’re leaving.Called the company and they called me back an hour later to tell me one of the crew was on a visa and couldn’t get a pass, later another told me one had forgotten his ID. So we rescheduled for the next day. At 1230 I called to check on the time was told that they had until 2 but would check with the driver. Came back 30 min later to tell me they had trailer problems. Now I’m waiting on them to call back and it’s been over an hour. I will update if they ever call back. FYI I have estimated 1600 sq ft going 643 miles, I did all the packing and it’s costing over $13000.

Long story short: I sincerely hope Moving Direct Van Lines goes out of business ASAP, so they aren't able to steal anyone else's money.

I'm writing this post on behalf of my mother, who planned to use Moving Direct for a move from Indiana to Georgia. Unfortunately, she was unable to move due to an unforeseen health issue that arose one week after booking for their services and paying the $5,000 deposit.

I spoke to the owner, Justin, about trying to get at least a partial refund of the deposit because it had only been a week, and she wasn't going to be able to use their services. After a few conversations, he and I had a gentleman's agreement that she'd receive 50% of the deposit via a check in the mail.

She still hadn't received the check after two months, so I called the company back almost every week to speak with Justin. But he was never around (isn't it curious for an owner to always be missing when an unsatisfied customer wants to speak to him?).

After talking with a customer service team member (since Justin was out), they agreed to refund her $150 and the rest as a moving credit. I explained that she couldn't move because of her health, but they didn't care. Clearly, this company is run by a ruthless person who didn't mind making a quick $5,000 off an elderly woman.

If you or someone you care about are moving soon, do not use this classless company.

We chose Moving Direct Van Lines because of the reviews but never would have went with them if we would have known that they are nothing more than a middle man, hiring random van lines to move belongings. In our case, Moving Direct hired Insta-Movers out of Alabama which is AWFUL, and although pleasant on the phone, they are completely unhelpful when it comes to customer service issues with the movers they hire. What's more, the service cost doubled what we were quoted by Moving Direct and a week beyond our delivery window, we still don't know when(or even if at this point!) our belongings will arrive. We will never again utilize their services or look at reviews the same way!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $20000

Terrible company. They made a terrible decision by picking a carrier for me in CA that took 3 months to send over my goods (they quoted me 15-6 days). They took no responsibility for the issue. The carrier was even worse but the fact is this brokerage had them pick up my goods on a 24 hrs notice and I had no choice but to take this option. In the end I have damaged goods and a delivery 3 months late. This carrier has no professionalism and no acceptance of responsibility.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $5000

I was sent to moving direct through a referral website. They rushed me through the sign up process, didn't explain the fact that they have over $1000 in additional fees that have to be paid on the day of the move and again on the day of delivery. I didn't even know about the fees until days later when I finally got the terms of the contract. They forged information on the electronic check that was not what had been agreed to, but they made sure they got their money for zero service provided. When I attempted to talk to someone about the additional fees and later to cancel there was no one available. Very dishonest company that treats you like a used car sales man.
