We gave them the benefit of the doubt with all of their poor reviews because "no one ever leaves a good review," this may be true, but for Move Smart, their poor reviews deserve to stay. We scheduled moving over a month ago with a very attentive representative (David Miller). We had to follow up many times to see when the movers were coming and to ensure a specific delivery date. Movers finally got here 3 hours later than their given window, charged us an ADDITIONAL (never mentioned before) fee of $200, and our delivery date is now pushed back 14-30 days and our items are being taken off the truck into a storage facility (another question asked initially and David left us under the impression that our items stay on the same truck until it is delivered in 1-3 days)!! We also tried to contact the company and David specifically and once we pointed out the discrepancies, they stopped responding via text, phone and email. PISS POOR COMMUNICATION and many FALSE PROMISES. I hope someone reads this and learns from our mistakes, again DO NOT HIRE.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $1463

I had contract with Move Smart back on May and they scheduled pick up day were 06/28-06/29 ( note: at the time of signing contract they are very nice. So I thought this is good company) They said they will call me few days prior to moving date. But no one call me. I made many phone calls tried to confirm my moving date. But no one answer the phone calls went to answer machine

On 06/28 I got email from the company and they said they will pick up furniture on 06/28. But no one showed up. No one called me have no idea what is going on

On 06/29 Move Smart sent email said they were sorry for the delays and for sure they will picked up furniture on 06/29. I made many phone calls but still no one show up. I make many phone calls again tried to know what is happening

But no response no one showed up

Finally on 06/29 late evening I sent email to the company to request my deposit back because no service was provided, no phone call response, no one showed up to pick up my furniture.

Move smart sent me email and they said they can offer 75% refund or tried to schedule for next day. But I needed to be somewhere next day so I was not available

I sent them email let them know I am not available and I should get full refund because there has no service provided ( I can provide the email info from Move smart if needed)

I file dispute for my deposit 930.00

I am so disappointed for all the issues with Move Smart company

Now I am still waiting for my refund

Please do not use this company. They quoted 2500.00 for a move and then 2 days before changed the quote to $2,900 and then today when the movers got there, they said it will be $3,800. We had 19 boxes and the quote was for 24 boxes. 2 beds and 2 dressers and 3 barstools. We never changed the items and when we called customer service they said that we had more cubic feet than what they quoted. Please do not get scammed by these people. Michael said they had to raise the price to get someone to pick it up. Almost double!!!!!!

IF you are able to get ahold of a live person, know that once you are off the phone they will not pick up any more calls. They screen numbers. I had to use another person phone to get a live body, Jessica, whom said she would investigate never heard from.

NOTE, important DO NOT USE Move Smart! This is most important, single women & or Kids present do NOT use Move Smart and beware of ASAP Services Inc. Chicago Moving Services! Great chance you will not be safe!

Man arrived demanding cash, would not take CC as I had confirmed. His demeanor forceful, obviously NON-Respectful of women! Would not provide identification on himself, upon research company ASAP Serviced 9510 Lawler, Ave Skokie, IL 60077, illegal immigrant whom I was dealing with!

I packed everything, they didn't place packing covers, plastic wrap nothing, would not even disconnect stackable washer / dryer nor would they help to move it for me to disconnect. All my furniture is ruined, stackable W/D broke they did not disassemble top/bottom! ALL my well made furniture / real wood, couches are now worth nothing. I am estimating $11,000 in damages, and this is being nice.

I have not only disputed with my bank, I filed a complaint with FMCSA and Home Land Security! Still in search of additional sites to ensure others are protected!

All of these people need to be held accountable. I would encourage others with similar experiences to do the same. ON BBB Douglas Hendricks, Owner/Manager, one has to wonder if he is proud of his operations? OR a true person?

Feds: South Florida-based moving scam bilked more than 900 customers!

I wish I would have found this article first, however there is time to assist others and hopefully they don't make the horrible decision I made! So will be reaching out the the Sun Sentinel and see if they would be interested in another investigation.

More and more I find there are many others just like me, who too can file complaints with additional organizations and Federal Government.

Info@movemesmarter.com use this email when you want to cancel or you will not be refunded your deposit after the sales person states you can cancel in 72 hours. If you send it to the wrong email they have the right to keep it according to my credit card company. They took my deposit of $470 and I emailed my sales guy within 24 hours. He did not respond or answer any of my calls or even direct me to the correct email to cancel. They are unethical. They want you to read an 8 page contract in the small print. I learned my lesson.

These cons have been running a scam for a long time now but it ends now. They will take your money, cancel your move and refuse to refund you. They will give you a quote then come out and charge you more, refuse to move you and take your money, unless you pay more. They will deliver your furniture broken, blackmail you for more money again. IT STOPS NOW. Please IMMEDIATELY contact the Florida's AG office and file a formal complaint.
