Long-distance move from Fort Smith, AR to Poplar Bluff, MO

Absolutely Horrible.

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING BROKER.

Absolutely do not ever even consider using this company. Ever. For anything. We booked services for a move two months in advance. We paid our deposit with promises for a picky up and delivery date with same day service. They gathered square footage to ensure we had space on a truck. Being anxious after reading bad reviews - we called at least 4 times to confirm we had the correct space reported. We never got a call "5 days prior to the move" as promised. We call the day of the move and was told they wouldn't be there until the next day (they give a two day time frame on the contract). So then we waited for the next day, the movers came and told me they were a last minute booking (so this was NOT scheduled as we were lead to believe). The contracted movers then told me they couldn't fit all of my stuff let alone my sectional - which we confirmed with MoveSmart at least 4 times prior.

The contracted movers then told me they would take our belongings to another state where it sits for up to 21 days and THEN gets delivered. This was after multiple confirmations from the broker company, MoveSmart, that we had same day delivery. Then, after the contractors refused service MoveSmart attempted to set up another delivery date. We had to be in our new town that weekend so there was no point - so now we were out the $599 deposit AND uhaul fees. Our multiple voicemails, texts, and emails to customer service were never answered - save one customer service rep Brandy.

They claimed we denied the move even though we had documented proof of the contracted movers refusing. We were never refunded our deposit. This place is an absolute scam. They have no integrity and deplorable customer service. We were skeptical of the negative reviews but these hold weight. I'm also convinced the positive reviews are probably fake or made by employees to counteract all of the negative reviews stating the exact same problem we had.

Absolutely the most unethical, sliver tongued, vile people who I would not be surprised if they make their living off of the "non refundable deposits" since they do not tell you that the only way to cancel is within 72 hours of the initial phone call of setting up a move.

In times like these it is imperative to treat your fellow human with respect, decency, and ethical behaviors; All of which Move Smart is not. There was nothing Smart about using these people and I hope that not one more soul makes the same mistake that I did for trying to find an easy way to move my family 5 hours down the road.

My only hope is that this "company" soon files for bankruptcy and that Paul, Jessica, Josh, and last but certainly not least Barbara can learn to be serviceable upstanding citizens in their community.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Lawrence, KS

They lie.

I should have read the reviews first. When I contacted th is company, the first question I had was whether they could give me a guaranteed delivery date. Pick up date was flexible, but I had to have the items delivered on a particular day when someone would be there to accept the delivery. I was told that was no problem. The pick up date was scheduled with the purpose of allowing delivery on my requested date. Then, on the delivery date with my person there waiting we find out that that was recorded only as the "first available" date to deliver and the items would show up "sometime" in the following week. I was told they "never" guarantee a delivery date, even though the did. I had even confirmed it with the person who picked up the shipment. Customer service is non-existent. calls and emails are not returned. I am still waiting to find out when they will deliver and will have to hire someone to meet them when they finally decide to show up.

Long-distance move from Louisiana to Texas

Nightmare.

Set up my move with move smart was guaranteed a pickup time and delivery, never did they mention that they are a broker company that sells your contract to third parties that you did not talk to or have the opportunity to research. They were 2 days late and showed up at 8pm when my pick up time was from 10am to 4. The company that showed up up charged me by 3 grand what I was originally quoted and ruined multiple pieces of furniture and made me wait almost a month before delivering my stuff to my home. When I called movesmart to talk to someone the night they showed up to pick up my furniture no one could be reached on phone or by email. After calling every day multiple times a day for a week finally got someone and they pretty much said there is nothing they can do. They black mail you in that way because they know they have you right where they want you because the company shows up and they know you don't have time to find another mover in time so they up change everything. Worst experience of my life.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Chapel Hill, NC

Pretty good move and saved some money.

We had to move a small amount of furniture and boxes from Houston to Chapel Hill. Move Smart contacted us gave us a good price and we excepted. Not everything was perfect but all in all I would use them again. The price was good ,the movers were courteous, they did everything they said they would do. One box was missing but they found it and sent it to us. overall it was a satisfactory move. Jessica and Customer Service were very helpful. We will use them again.

Long-distance move from Alexandria, VA to New York, NY

A Total Mess.

Save your money. These people were set up to move me from to New York but they were hugely unprofessional, barely even arrived on time and had some of the nastiest phone agents I've dealt with in a really long time. Look for a new place that is local (the national movers have so much overhead that they charge a lot). I had a friend who rented for $400 dollars less by picking a smaller, only East Coast mover. These guys were jerks.

Long-distance move from Washington Court House, OH to Hendersonville, NC

Worst Service Ever!

Run as fast as you can away from this company. My 84 year old Mother was told her belonging would arrive two days later and now 7 days later we still do not have anything. They farmed the move to Imperial Movers. They never bothered telling my Mother that they were merely brokers.

Dont try to call them they are rude and you will never reach your original sales person.

Original price went from $2900 to 5700.

Long-distance move from Newmarket, NH to Pittsburgh, PA

Never followed through with move.

I set up a move with Move Smart about a month in advance. They tell you you get a early booking discount the earlier you set up. So I was fooled into thinking everything was set and good to go. Three days before the move the driver called me and asked if he could pick my stuff up (long distance NH to PA) on Friday (originally scheduled for Sat/Sun). I said no problem better earlier than later. So I rushed to get my things packed. Then on Thursday I get a call from the driver telling me that he’ll be there later in the day. Ok even earlier I can manage. Then I receive a simple text with a phone number. At 10p Thursday night I’m told his truck is full and I won’t be able to have my things moved. So I call the number and it is a dispatcher not associated with move smart that tells me move smart is just a broker. They tell anyone they can do the move and just cross their fingers that a driver is available to pick up your load. So the dispatcher told me I couldn’t get picked up until Tuesday (no trucks in my area until then. So Monday night comes and I hear nothing telling me about pick up and preparing me for my move. So I call the broker to demand my money back and now no one wants to answer the phone. Move smart never delivered and has not refunded my money or answered my calls/emails. I advise you DO NOT USE ONE OF THESE BROKERS, they just want your deposit. Find a local mover like I ended up doing. It may cost you more but the service is worth it. It’s been a week and I still haven’t heard back or had my money refunded.

Long-distance move from Columbus, OH to North Port, FL

They Lie.

Long distance move central Ohio to Florida. I'm embarrassed that I used this company. I always tell my kids, if it sounds too good to be true then don't buy it or believe it.

In the end, you will get your stuff moved. It ended up costing us over 3 times the quoted price. We sent pictures of everything we were moving with descriptions. Just don't use them, you will save yourself a lot of grief.

Oh yeah your stuff will come when you get to your new destination. You must be patient. Any time frame this company gives must be taken with a grain of salt.

And since your stuff will be stacked up a few items may not arrive in the best condition. And it gets packed / moved to other trucks so damage occurs there too.

Just don't use them. If you read only a couple of reviews believe the bad reviews on this company.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Silver Spring, MD

BEWARE: Fraudulent Brokers that hire Fraudulent Moving Companies.

BEWARE: This company hires moving companies that just try to scam you when they arrive. I am still fighting to get my $1000 deposit and $400 move date fee returned to me after I flew to Los Angeles to have my things moved across the country only to get stuck in California for a week and ultimately MY STUFF was NEVER moved and I had to keep it in storage. The 1st moving company they hired claimed to have gotten a “flat tire” in route to meet me (which I later found out from the 2nd moving company that that was a complete lie). I had to stay in California for 6 more days than expected waiting for them to dispatch a new moving company (which meant more expenses: hotel, rental car, flight changes, etc.). Only for the 2nd moving company to arrive in a 16 foot budget rental truck that holds less than 700 cubic feet and try to tell me that it magically held 1100 cubic feet so I had to pay for an additional 400 cubic feet of space (almost an additional $2000 dollars). I immediately called them out (and so did my storage company since they were onsite and witnessed the entire ordeal) and said they were clearly lying and trying to scam me. The moving company refused to take my things and unloaded everything off the truck. Meanwhile I was in contact with Move Smart the ENTIRE time. They apologized profusely and said they rarely work with that moving company (another lie since others have called out the same company for fraudulent business practices). Move Smart told me they would dispatch another moving company on Monday (it was now Saturday evening and I was still STUCK IN CALIFORNIA WITH MY STUFF). Sunday arrives and I feet a call from Move Smart stating that they cannot fulfill my move anymore and I need to now find my own moving company AND they offer me $500 but refuse to return THE REST OF THE MONEY I’ve already paid ($1400). I wound up having to put my things back in storage and travel back home after wasting over $1500 on travel expenses (hotel, flights, rental car, etc.) on top of the $1400 I already paid Move Smart for performing ZERO SERVICES AND HIRING FRAUDULENT MOVING COMPANIES. BEWARE. They are FULL OF CRAP and in the business of SCAMMING YOU instead of helping you move. They take an already stressful situation and make it 10x worse. Just read the other reviews on ALL OTHER sites and the BBB. I have hired a lawyer and have contacted the BBB to assist in resolving this matter.

Long-distance move from Michigan to Oregon

Customer service.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They Gaunteed a pick up of my things, I get an email the next day saying they were not going to be picking up my things. I call the sale person John King, can't get a hold of him by phone or email. I talk to another man and he says "I'm so sorry, I'll call you back in about an hour once I figure out what's going on" (no call back). The day of my supposed move date someone calls me to verify my inventory order. I call customer service and speak to Chris, he says he's going to call me back in just a few minutes after he figures out what it going on. 2 hours later I call back to be transferred to his voice-mail; I leave a message. So I call back again just to be transferred to another empty phone. I call back once again spoke with Peter who was also less than helpful. He transferred me to Chris's VM. At this point they are just dodging my calls. By the good graces I get Chris on the phone (my boyfriend called from his phone) I re-explain my situation, and all he has to say was "it was a miscommunication they aren't able to service your move." Which is all I wanted to know. Why would a 2 sentence reply be so hard? I have never in my life ever been treated like this. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with, they have no manners, no work ethic and by far the most horrific customer service. This is not just about them being busy, this was pure laziness and inconsideration. I warn you, do not EVER use this company!!
