5-star company!

5-star company! When we had to pack and move the belongings of a recently dead loved one halfway across the nation, the team helped us get through a very trying moment. I wholeheartedly suggest them. Loved them!

Scam Alert

Do not use them! I was quoted $5500 and I was very specific when I told them what I had to move. When the movers showed up, the cost went to $7300. They estimate too low to get you hooked. On top of that, I got the run around on when delivery would be. It went from Friday all the way through to Wednesday before delivery was made. I was told numerous times the truck was loaded and will deliver the next day. In reality, it wasn’t loaded when they said it was. When I got my furniture, I spoke to the driver and he said it wasn’t loaded until the night before delivery. I move a lot and have never had this experience before. Stay away, they are crooks.

Long-distance move from Lanark Village, FL to New Orleans, LA

All did well

My new apartment has a narrow, winding staircase that made me nervous about moving my furniture. These movers came to the rescue! They sent a surveyor beforehand to measure the staircase and plan the moving route. On moving day, they worked together flawlessly, using straps and dollies to navigate the tricky corners without a scratch on the walls or furniture. They even used furniture sliders to protect the hardwood stairs from any damage.

Fake reviews

All high reviews are fake, they will upcharge you day of way past when the cancellation window is available basically holding u at gunpoint. Had a quote for 3.8k ish and day of movers were saying they wanted 6k because the estimate the company gave me is nowhere near. They ended up leaving when I asked to talk with the company then the next Monday the company told me I wasn't getting my money back no matter what. She said my estimate could change in the contract but, I gave them an itemized list of items and their estimate determined 400 cubic ft, the movers said they needed 800 doubling the price day of. They get you in with a low estimate that they randomly determine based on ur list of tiem, then when moving time comes they then decide a real estimate almost doubling the price. Then they will not do refunds under any circumstances if it is past 3 days since u signed. Lady told me even if they didn't show up they would not give a refund. Look them up u will see hundreds of similar stories. Do not give them business

DO NOT HIRE

Quoted me 4400 and my final bill was 9,300 but get this, it gets better. They insisted on reboxing certain items or certain things being put into a box and those items went missing and unable to be tracked. Literally uncharged us 5,000 to steal thousands of dollars of our stuff. DO NOT HIRE STAY AWAY. don’t bother calling customer service either, it’s a total joke.

WORSE MOVING COMPANY - CHEATERS - NEVER HIRE THEM

THESE FOLKS ARE THE BIGGEST CHEATERS - THEY QUOTE EXTREMELY LOW ESTIMATE AND THEN ADD MULTIPLE HIDDEN CHARGES ON THE LAST MINUTE AND HOLD YOU AT GUN POINT. My estimate of 1700 USD has come to 4000 USD with multiple additions which were never mentioned.

Both at the pick up point and delivery - they keep adding cost.

NEVER EVER HIRE THEM. They are the biggest chaters.

Long-distance move from Phoenix, AZ to Franklin, IN

AWFUL EXPERIENCE - MY MOTHER GOT SCAMMED!

This company up-charged $26,000 from the original agreement, and held my mother's belongings hostage until she gave them the check.

My mother did a long-distance move with a lot of belongings.

Original agreement:

+move her stuff on the 15th

+pay $3,000 downpayment

+pay a total of $12,200 for the move

3 weeks before the move, she found out her closing had changed to the 15th, so she requested the movers come on the 13th. We have paperwork confirming their agreement to do so.

Revised agreement 1:

+move her stuff on the 13th

+pay $3,000 downpayment

+pay a total of $12,200 for the move

On the 13th (the day they were supposed to arrive to pick up her things), she was informed that she had more belongings than they originally thought she had. Therefore they would not be able to arrive until the 14th. She now owed $19,333 (about $7,000 more than the agreed price) AND she had to provide ANOTHER $3,000 downpayment. (Now she has paid a $6,000 downpayment total, but they haven't loaded up a single piece of furniture and delayed her move.)

Revised agreement 2:

+move her stuff on the 14th

+pay $6,000 downpayment

+pay a total of $19,333

Even though they were given an extra day, they showed up on the 15th (a day after the REVISED day and was the day she was handing the keys to the new owners. Keep in mind all of her belongings are still in the home.) Even though the whole reason for them needing an extra day was because she "had more belongings than they originally thought," they still arrived late and didn't bring enough manpower or equipment, so they needed to call in yet another truck and another driver. And by the way, the move will now cost $38,000!!! (about $14,000 more than the previously revised quote.)

Revised agreement 3:

+move her stuff on the 15th (the day she needed to give possession of her house to the new owners and fly out)

+pay $6,000 downpayment

+pay a total of $38,000

So here she is, standing in a home she does not own anymore. The new owners would like to move in, and she has a flight to catch. She was put in a corner and didn't know what to do. She had no choice but to agree to these new terms. (By the way, it took them 2 days to get all of her things loaded. Keep in mind, she does not own the home anymore, and she had to leave on the first day, so she was unable to supervise the move. The new owners were already trying to live in the home as the movers were trying to get her stuff packed up.)

She was then told that they would not off load any of her belongings until they received a cashier's check for the remaining $32,000!!! They were going to HOLD HER BELONGINGS HOSTAGE until they got their check.

After they offloaded the belongings, we found that several of the items were not just damaged but smashed to pieces. For $38,000 they couldn't even deliver her items intact.

My father recently passed away, and this was the first time my mother had to make some big decisions by herself. They took advantage of her and scammed her out of $38,000!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - EVER!

Worst service

This is a terrible moving company. They assured me that the quote they gave me was all-inclusive but on moving day, they asked extra for this and that. They dont communicate well...they ended up delivering 2 weeks after the time I explicitly told them I needed the delivery. What they tell you they'll do for you and what's written on the contract are different. READ EVERY FINE PRINT BEFORE SIGNING! They failed to give me my receipt for the partial fee during pickup. They added extra $75 during delivery claiming it was not paid and I had no receipt to challenge them with. When they finally emailed the receipt which was done electronically, it was different than the one I signed.

Very disappointed with this company.

Scam and untruthful quote

Quote us for 2900 and end up charging 4250. a lot of hidden fees and charges that’s not mentioned from customer service but happens on the day of.

They said the service covered dissemble and reassemble of the furniture, but on site they said they don’t provide such service and any non dissemble furniture will be charged with additional cubic feet.

We double checked with customer service on the carry fee by feet policy and confirmed our apartment won’t be charged with it. But end up paying few hundreds per distant the movers walk from the truck to the Apt door.

Do not use them it’s a total scam. They act nice at first to get your business, tell you all to ghost service they end up not providing, and screw you up the day off.

DO NOT USE!!! ZERO STARS!

I recommend nobody ever uses this moving company!! They use a third party moving company for pick up and delivery. I had less items than what I was quoted for. At pick up the mover told me there would not be enough room for everything I had, there were still 25 boxes that had not been put on the truck yet at which time he told me it was be an additional almost $1000 for my move. I was quoted for 56 boxes, two children’s bicycles and one bedroom set. I ended up not having the children’s bikes and only 48 boxes. During booking I was told I would have PLENTYY of space and there would be NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE! The customer service was closed at time of pick so I was not able to speak with anyone until the next day. Then was told why would I sign for something I was not in agreement with. In which my response was what was I supposed to do with the other 25 boxes I needed moved 1600 miles. Was then told my belongings were bigger than what they consider their “average” size of my items, none of which was explained to me! . Upon research I found this company used to be all mighty relocation llc, after tons of bad reviews they opened another dot license to prepare for the shut down of all might relocation LLC and changed their name to Metro Hop Relocation llc. This is why their dot profile doesn’t have many complaints, YET!

Long-distance move from Huntsville, AL to Easley, SC

Do Not Waste Your Time

We were quoted a very small number by a representative, Taylor, via phone call. We made an itemized list of the furniture moved, and from there, he gave us an estimate including boxing of our smaller items (clothes, pots and pans, etc.). On the day of the move, the movers came in and scoffed at the amount of items we had. They also claimed they were not packers, as that was an extra service. We were quoted $7000 more than what we were told initially if we wanted to get all our items moved. They refused to even move the itemized list we agreed on, as that was over the amount of space we were quoted.

We called customer service, and the foreman came out during the phone call to tell us to not waste his time. He demanded for us to tell him whether we were cancelling or going through with the move. Once we cancelled with the foreman, they dropped everything and immediately left. We were on the phone with a customer service representative, Carl, for 45 minutes that day, and he insisted we were ineligible for a refund because the deposit we paid just secured our date.

We called every single day the week following, trying to get a refund, and our calls were dodged. We would be “transferred” then dropped or spoken to in a very snarky manner by customer service. When we finally got ahold of the person that could get us a refund, she informed us we were ineligible because we did not EMAIL to cancel within 72 hours (despite the fact they emailed us). She also commented that she had been at her desk all week and had never been told we needed a refund.

They will treat you as if you are incompetent, they will try to weasel their way out of getting your money, they will exhibit truly terrible customer service, and you will regret the moment you called them.

It is worth noting they are not even registered on the Better Business Bureau as a licensed, legitimate business.

Don’t Use This Company

I recently moved from PA to NC and felt duped by this company. The first mistake, they are a broker. They do not send anyone out to you to view your contents or advise what is “chargeable” and the day of move the customer gets blindsided. My move went from 4k to 7k to 9800 the day of move. Movers charge for everything. Even boxes I had sealed, they reseal using their tape.

When I expected my furniture, they used a really big truck and packed 3 customers to save on costs. The problem is that my area is rural and the streets are too narrow for that size of truck. This I had to pay an extra $1000 for them to get the right size for my streets.

I recommend before you hire ANYONE for a long distance move that you don’t do brokers, hire direct movers who will give you real numbers, not estimates. This company fails to inform you of the “true” possible costs. Never again, I’ll sell my stuff and buy new if there is ever a move again.

Stay far away! Scam!

I booked with this company for a move from Arizona to Colorado in June, move in August. I got a great quote, disclosed everything on call. 3 days before move, they called and I found out that they had not put on my televisions and rugs. However, I also got rid of a big dresser and they had a chest of drawers that I don't even have so both were removed. I did add 2 fans. So at the end of this, over $700 more! Avoid!!

If you like being lied to, cheated out of your money by a pathetic company which has no scruples and having no access to customer service, then Metro Hop is the company for you.

For us, it was the worst moving experience ever. We did not know they were a broker until everything was signed. They promised us one price on the phone and their subcontractor doubled it. They also told us that they would have our stuff transported free of charge to our new location for storage and then we could get it whenever we wanted, similar to PODS. This was a lie.

Then, they told us to adjust our moving date on paper, promising us that it was always 7-14 beyond the date of dropping off our stuff at our new location. They never communicated with their subcontractor or the sub-subcontractor and our stuff arrived before we could get there. This was a nightmarish experience to say the least.

Then they would only accept cash and would not give us any receipts for our own consumer protection.

They are highly unprofessional and will say whatever you want to hear to get your money, then they pawn you off on one of their movers who will only deal in cash with no paper trail. They will lie and blame you and refuse to let you speak to upper management.

Do your research and find full service movers with a binding estimate.

They do not deserve to be anywhere near your pocketbook.

Property never received. Company stopped communicating

On September 16,2023, 3 men in a Uhaul truck showed up at my residence. I was nervous about the move already but to see a rental truck. The guy immediately entered my apartment and says you have really nice stuff I need to evaluate. I said what do you need to evaluate I just spoke to your guy a couple days ago and he knows exactly what I have. The guy said well he was wrong according to my estimate now you owe us an additional $1,000. Do to Major frustration and lack of money I told him well forget it I'll just throw everything away. My boyfriend went and talked to the guy because he did not feel I needed to throw away my stuff the guy decided that it was my bedroom set that made the estimate higher. This included a full queen size bed with a headboard, footboard, a dresser with mirror, and another stand-up dresser which had clearly been quoted in my first quote. We agreed that I would leave the whole bedroom set so we didn't have to pay the additional $1,000 the guy began to load up my belongings. I asked the guy several questions but he continued to skate around answers. The driver said that the items would be delivered around the 22nd of that month I said is that the day is supposed to be delivered or is there a time period after that.he said that's the date you're going to get it so that day came and went with no communication the following Wednesday I was told I was going to have a driver pick up my stuff and no communication several days later I continue to call not receiving any calls from you guys or that quote moving company that I guess you guys hired. I have gone back and forth with this mover to not even know where my belongings are to this day. I have given your company in this company now almost $2,000. I have been advised that due to the lack of communication and not ever receiving any of my belongings to file a police report. I have followed up and reported them to my payment sources and to local police. I have turned in all my texts photos and camera footage from when they came into my house. This type of business behavior is not acceptable and I will make sure that I follow up on this situation. Have contacted your company. I've contacted them but nobody wants to call me back or even tell me where my belongings are. I have proceeded to find criminal charges against your company.

A middleman broker that you do not need

Metro Hop relocation came with a high review on mymoving reviews so we decided to move forward with them in our move from CA to TX because they quoted us at a lower price than other moving companies. However, it feels like we were charged over $3000 just for them to provide movers (not even in our area) with the wrong paperwork and an inaccurate estimate which we ended up paying over $6000 more for our move. I would of understood maybe another $2000 MAYBE but being over $6000 off an estimate is ludicrous. This companies only saving grace was the customer service rep being receptive on the phone but to no result of making this move any easier or less stressful, cut this middleman out and go to a company that actually does the move for you without outsourcing to another company not even in your area.

Scammers - Turn Them Into FMCSA

You are probably reading this now because you have also been ripped off by them. Check out their Google reviews and BBB rating in Florida. These people are not ethical. I contracted with this company to move me from Florida to Mississippi. On 09/26/23, they quoted me a price of approx $3500 and requested a deposit of 20% (see attached). They should have charged my credit card only $700; however, they charged $1900 against my credit card (see attached). When the sale of the home that we were buying in Mississippi fell through on 10/03/23, I called and emailed them regarding the cancellation and I asked when I would receive a refund. At that point, I discovered that they had charged my credit card for more than one-half of the move cost. In discussions with this company, they refused to refund any of the "deposit" that they unknowingly charged my credit card.

Worst company!!!! Do NOT USE!

I have moved across the country 4 times, 3 of those being with moving companies. The worst experience I have had was my last move in December 2023/January 2024.

The company I signed a contract with was Metro Hop Relocation (MHR) out of Florida. Initially we talked through what I would be moving and when, an estimate was given, and I paid a deposit. As the move got closer, I contacted them with changes and the estimate was updated. A few days prior to my move they contacted me to go over any more changes. I measured the size of the boxes used, gave the exact number of those boxes and an estimate of the others. The estimate was updated, and I was told the amount of cash I would need to give to the movers.

The actual moving was sub-contracted to Legends Movers Relocation (LMR) out of California. Upon looking at my items the movers immediately told me it would cost more as the boxes were bigger than indicated-the size of the boxes had not changed, and the actual total number of boxes had decreased. I was told that I would have to pay an additional $1200 cash for my things to be moved. MHR was closed on that day/time, so my hands were tied. I paid what I could in cash as I wanted my things to be moved but I didn’t have enough, so was told I’d have to pay it at the other end of my move, I was also charged $200 for packing materials that I never received/needed. I later asked MHR about this, and they said they could ask LMR about it, but that’s all they could do. I was out another $200!

I had also been told to mark any boxes with fragile items, which I did. I did all of the packing as I’ve done it before, and triple wrapped my breakables in bubble wrap. I usually had 1-2 minor items break in a move.

When LMR brought my items to my apartment, they used a semi-trailer and arrived @ 5pm at night. It was dark out, on a regular two laned street with lots of traffic from people coming home from work. They informed me that there was not place they could park then or in the future and that I needed to pay them $500 more to move my items from the large truck to a smaller one that they could bring back the next day to unload, or they would put my things into storage that I would need to pay for until I could find someone with a truck to move them for me. I contacted MHR who informed me that I had signed a contract with LMR and that they had only recommended LMR. This was NOT the case-the contract I signed was with MHR and no mention of sub-contracting or another specific agency was ever discussed.

A friend loaned me the money and was able to get the movers to reduce the cost to $350 for them to bring my items back in a smaller truck the next day.

When LMR arrived the next day, there was one person in charge with two helpers. There was no attention paid to those items marked fragile, many of which were now in damaged boxes, making me wonder if any attention had ever been paid to those marked boxes.

Bottomline, this move cost me more than $1200 over the final quote and there was no recourse for all the broken fragile items, of which there were many, both big and small.

I was beyond frustrated and angry about this move so filed a claim with the WA State Attorney General’s office as that’s where I moved from. LMR never responded to the claim and MHR responded saying everything had been settled. Nothing was settled and I was not contacted by either moving company.

I will NEVER use either of these entities again, and neither should you. I know now that I will not receive any assistance from these companies, so my only recourse is to post here so that others can be cautious with their decisions involving either of these companies.

The worst experience. 1 bedroom, just bedroom furniture. over $5000. Took over 3 weeks to deliver my stuff. All my furniture was damaged. Don't use this company. They should not be in business!

The quote they gave me on the phone was half of what they charged me. They make you pay half the quote when you book, so by the time they come and up the amount it's already too late to not use them. It was a big rip off. For the amount of stuff I had I should have gotten a POD for half the price and my stuff would have arrived in better condition.

Long-distance move from Philadelphia, PA to New York, NY

Awful, Deceitful, Unreliable Business

With my move, everything initially seemed fine - I scheduled my move from Pennsylvania to New York and set up pick up window of three hours, in order to reserve my building's elevator. The day of, they initially said they will be able to make it but are running behind, but completely miss the window, so I need to reschedule. I think: fine, things happen. The next time - mind you, this is a week later, the earliest time they were willing to give me - the same thing happens. At this point, I need to move urgently because I'm starting a new job. So I ask for a refund of my deposit. They completely refuse to do this. I threaten doing a chargeback given that I (rightly) have no confidence in their ability to facilitate my move. They of course confidently assure me that I will lose the dispute. Well, I did initiate the chargeback, and it succeeded (my guess is because this is an awful business that is probably inundated with chargebacks - of course, I don't know that for a fact, but I wouldn't be surprised if that were that case).

Please, dear god, do not patronize this business if you do not want to risk wasting your time. Go with a moving company that is NOT a broker - I'm guessing these brokers tend to operate on this kind of systematized incompetence. No need to deal with a middle man if you don't have to.

Quoted $2604 price increased to $6204 @pick up

BEWARE SCAM. When we spoke to Steve on day 1 we stated we had a 10x10 storage unit and a 10x5 unit both full. We stated we didn't have a itemized list of items since it had been in storage for over a year. Steve said that is no problem since we have him the sizes of our storage units. He could base the price off that size. He quoted us $2604. And pick up would be either April 24th 2024 or April 25th 2024, that someone would call us the day before to confirm which day and time since we no longer lived in same state . On the 24th husband received a text stating they were 35 min away. We rushed 4 hours to get to unit for them to tell us ohhh no we are only moving the 10x5 unit unless you want to pay $6204. Due to Steve wired us only 300sq feet. Knowing we had 2 units and the sizes. We are both disabled and can not afford to be scammed out of our money. They refuse to return our deposit of $1420 . Stating It is a contract and I signed it. I do not know sq footage and thought STEVE was genuinely honest. Jokes on me I guess. Now my belongings are still on storage and I am out $1420.
