DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY

They will scam you out of your money, damage your possessions and will steal beds, tools and other valuables. You cannot get a hold of them to get help or answers. They will "insure your items for .50 per LB. (Our missing Cal King Temperpedic is covered for $100, not the replacement cost of over $4500). Check YELP reviews, and DO NOT use them!

They'll take advantage of you

After researching moving companies to transport our belongings across country, Nick, w/ Extra Space Moving called us. He said our info came across their board, & he wanted to offer us a quote. After asking a series of questions, we were quoted a very steep price. He said the price was due to our extra large furniture, massage chair, & our 1000lbs cement statue. We explained that we received better quotes elsewhere. He said that he would match the other offers we received.

After about a week of not hearing from us, he called, & texted us several times. (We have the texts, & phone records to prove it.) We told him that we chose a different moving company. He began to question who we chose, then told us everything bad about that company's track record. We told him that we still weren't Interested, but he continued to call, & kept offering us better prices. We asked if there were hidden charges, or fee's that would mysteriously arise, & he said no. After a few more calls made to us, we agreed to hire them. We read, & signed everything online, then paid the deposit. We then asked for copies of what we signed, & a receipt. He said the movers will bring it on moving day.

The day of the move, the movers (Lonnie Wilson, his wife, & another guy) walked our house, & said they need to charge for the extra large items, the statue, & the breaking down of the massage chair. We explained everything was paid in full, but Lonnie said they never receive anything from brokers, & that we are to pay after they walk our home, & give us a price.

Several thousand dollars later, & a large quantity of our things being left because everything didn't fit in the semi, we were SEVERLY taken advantage of.

Many of our things were broken, damaged, & missing. (I recorded the careless, unpacking of the semi truck where it shows some of our, & other peoples property being broken, & damaged.

MOVE FROM MIAMI TO KY

THESE GUYS ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS - They contract with others to do the moving and when things go south they continuously lie to you about how they are looking out for you. The people the contract with are despicable extortionists. They delivered a month late and took part of the shipment with them. After 4 months of consistent calling with Extraspace, their contractor Great American Van Lines and the actual person that took my stuff I have had enough.Twice they have extorted money with promises of delivery and today was the third time they tried. I will now seek to report this to all the authorities I can.DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE

Long-distance move from Grand Rapids, MI to Roanoke, VA

The worst nightmare you could ever imagine

When extra space moving and storage reached out to our quote inquiry, we told the sales rep that we were interested in the moving pods, we were moving around 2 bedroom apartment amount of stuff, he convinced us that it would be cheaper to do the full service move quoting around 2600 dollars, we had only budgeted 2000 all in for the move, going from MI to VA. He cut 3/4th of our packing list, without telling us, in order to get the total at 1950 dollars to fit our budget. We didn't see it until after the deposit was made and the quality assurance agent pointed it out to us after the cancellation period was over. Once they included the full moving list provided, the cost jumped up another 3000 dollars and was required to pay a 2nd deposit of 1400 dollars to them. This is a moving broker company, they do not have any ownership or responsibility for the 3rd party contractors they use and they will not assist you once your move has started.

The 3rd party company came late on the day they were to pick up and told us we could only pay using cash because our turn around time for delivery was so short. The movers lied saying we had more stuff than the 778 cubic feet of space we contracted for. They used our stress and the late night to trick us into signing a new contract that double dipped on the fuel and base charges, plus tacked on twice as much cubic feet of space on the truck, basically the entire 26 foot moving truck. They demanded half up front, we signed thinking it was part of the inventory list as part of the original contract. They told us that our stuff would be delivered on Saturday, two days after pick up. Only they didn't show up and didn't give us a call until 8pm on Saturday that they were actually delivering on Sunday, the only form of payment they would accept was cash or money order for the Post Office alone. We realized on Saturday the mistakes made on the contract so on Sunday we tried talking to extra space moving and storage, but they told us since we signed a contract with the 3rd party moving company then they wouldn't do anything and this was normal policy. We called the cops hoping they could help, but they said it was a civil matter. The moving coordinator for the 3rd party moving company was so hostile and loud that the cops had to shout for him to shut up just so they could talk to ask questions. They held our stuff hostage and wouldn't take it off the truck until we paid the total they said we owed, in total we had to pay them an additional 5380 dollars just to get our stuff. We had to borrow from family and spent 2 hours trying to come up with the money. The moving coordinator said that it didn't matter if the contract was wrong that if we tried to go to court that we would lose, all in an attempt not to pursue legal action. The movers themselves damaged furniture, gave us other people's things we still have, and broke several items, the driver also pressured us on pickup to give him and his team a huge tip which we unfortunately did thinking they were the one's to deliver, only after delivery did we see all the damages and issues. In total the moving coordinator called us 3 different times, over 3 days, all between 7-9pm to scream and threaten us not to pursue legal action, even though we had proof of the discrepancies. We were so upset we finally settled for just around 1500 reimbursement for the mistakes they made and can no longer pursue legal action. This happened one week before Christmas and had no extra money we were forced to use a credit card just to make ends meet. Whatever you do, do not work with extra space moving and storage.

Move from AR to NV

The price continues to go up!!!

I chose this company based on their initial quote. I received the quote 3 months prior to moving. I told the initial sales person what I was planning to take and he said it was the equivalent of a two bedroom and it would cost $1767, which I thought was outstanding.

They said pricing was good because they already had a partial load truck coming through and I'd fill the remainder of the truck. I was given a 3 day window for the pickup.

One week prior to moving, I received a call to verify the inventory and my estimate was now about $6600 and I needed to pay an additional $2000 above the $676 already paid. The balance would be split and paid upon pickup and delivery. I didn't say no and search for another mover, as I'd already paid some down and I was a week from moving.

The 3 day window was confirmed and I'd be called one day prior to pickup. I received the call from a subcontractor Handle with Care (Logistic Moving Services) and confirmed the day of pickup with a 2 hour window.

They arrived 10 minutes after the 2 hour window and started loading. I was completing loading paperwork and one document was about 10% gratuity required. I questioned this and he said that's how he gets paid. I contacted Extra Space customer service and was told that's inaccurate and refuse to pay. There was a partial load already on the truck that took up about one-third of the truck. While loading, the lead person told me I'd hit my limit and asked what I was doing with the remaining furniture? I said everything goes. Everything fit onto the truck packed tightly with a couple feet to spare. After loading, the lead person was calculating and said I had 2200 cubic feet. I stated the call one week ago estimated 907 cubic feet and there's no way this is possible. He stated based on his paperwork, that's the amount. He said the computer estimation doesn't know the size of my items. I still argued the amount. The lead guy said he'd make me a deal and document I had 1600 cubic feet. The difference between 2200 and 1600 cubic feet was $2250. I could pay him $1000 cash and forget the gratuity. I was asked to pay $5266 with a balance of $2257 to be paid upon delivery. I'm in a bind. My moving costs just went to $12,000 and the truck is loaded. I was ready to get on the road, so I wrote the check.

During my drive, I was thinking about the size of the truck and my cubic feet loaded. It was a 26 foot truck and contained 1600 cubic feet, not more than 1750 cubic feet. The truck had a partial load already consuming 1/3 of the truck, therefore on 1600 cubic feet, with a couple feet still available, I shouldn't have more than 1072 cubic feet.

I received a call from the delivery company, a sub-subcontractor, informing me of day of arrival and given a two hour window. At the same time, being informed I needed to send him $400. I questioned and he said for diesel. I refused. Afterwards, I received a call from Jerry with Handle with Care informing me to pay with money orders made out to Logistic Moving Services. While awaiting the truck to deliver, I receive a call from the sub-subcontractor telling me i needed to wire payment. I informed him Jerry told me how to pay and that's how I'm paying. The truck finally arrived an hour and half past the two hour window. They immediately requested payment and I delivered the money orders. They refused them because they said they're a different company. Phone calls started going back and forth for both parties. After thirty minutes of arguing, they left to go eat. I made and received calls from both companies in the mean time. Two and a half hours later, they returned and offloaded my belongings. I took a picture of the space my belongings took on the truck and I measured the space. I asked the workers how much space I took and one said 1024 cubic feet. Another thought it was 1200 cubic feet. My measurement calculated to 1024 cubic feet.

I contacted Extra Space customer service and discussed the overcharging for space. I was informed I shouldn't have signed the contract and had them to unload the truck originally. I was told they'd contact the owner and have him to call me. I called customer service everyday for a week and never received a call from the owner and was finally told nothing could be done as I signed the contract.

Beware of Unexpected Charges with Extra Space Moving

I chose Extra Space Moving and Storage LLC, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for a cross-country move because their initial quote of around $5,000 seemed competitive. Unfortunately, my experience with them turned sour due to unexpected financial practices and lack of transparency.

First, they required a deposit via electronic check, which was larger than discussed, pulling roughly $3,000 from my account without clear prior agreement. This method meant I couldn’t cancel or dispute the charge easily.

The real shock came when they informed me, close to the move date, that the cost would increase by an additional $3,000, significantly over the initial quote. This last-minute hike left me in a bind, feeling exploited at a time when I was most vulnerable and had limited options to seek alternative solutions.

This practice of quoting one price and then demanding more when the customer is cornered is not only unethical but deeply troubling. It reflects a business model that preys on the necessity and urgency of customers’ situations.

My advice to potential customers is to approach Extra Space Moving and Storage LLC with caution. Ensure any agreement is crystal clear and documented to avoid similar situations. There are movers out there with transparent pricing and genuine customer service; my experience suggests you might want to look elsewhere.

Scam Scam Scam!!!!!!

This place is a total scam! Stole my money and I can't even find their address listed on the DOT which is completely illegal. They took our money and said the price wouldn't go up, two days later after they received our money from the bank they called and raised the price knowing we already paid over a thousand dollars. After digging I found where their office actually is operating at 10235 W Sample Rd Coral Springs 33065 Suite 210. But that address is not the address listed on their DOT or their estimates which is really really shady. Nobody ever even showed up to move me and now they blocked my number. I also noticed that the supposed owner Daniel Contreras posted his own 5 star review of his own company on this review site LMAO, what total Scammers!!!!!!

Total Rip Off Company!! Do Not Use!

This company is a broker and different from the company that actually performed my move. I was shopping around for quotes and decided to go with this company. I was very upfront with what I had from the beginning and questioned them over and over again about making sure there would not be additional costs at the time of the move. I was assured I would be fine and as long as there wasn't some large item (grand piano was the example) then there weren't going to be issues. I said the quote only stated small boxes and was assured the box sizes would not make a difference. I had these in text messages and emails. I then had a quality assurance call a couple days before the move. They tried to triple the cost of the move! I negotiated it down to "only double". I would have cancelled, however they have you pay the deposit through the bank directly and then say you're out of the deposit if you cancel (which I had already paid almost $1k). Then the moving company came and walked the 1 bedroom apartment. They tried to add on another $1,200. I was told by the broker that if I had any issues like this I should call their customer service number and also given a direct number to one of the individuals in customer service. Of course, I did not get any response from them. I negotiated the extra cost down to $800. Finally, on the delivery date I was told they had to charge an extra $200! As they were unloading I saw that one of my bookcases was broken and no longer useable. The driver was able to show me a picture from the warehouse where it was delivered by the movers who picked up my items that it was already broken before the cross country move! So, they broke my bookshelf and then charged me to move it!! I tried repeatedly to contact customer service to make a claim regarding the damage and never received any response. My calls when unanswered, my emails unanswered and the customer service emails that they even gave me were not deliverable because their domain was not valid! These pulled directly from their invoices and their website. Please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! It's the worst service I've ever received and the moving costs ended up closer to $6k for a 695 square foot 1-bedroom apartment with minimal furniture moved! They wait until you have no choice and keep upping the price.DO NOT TRUST THEM!

Customer Service

This is not a great review. I have left several messages for Trevir W, with no return calls. I have left messages and called the main number - no call backs. Is this business a scam? They wanted a deposit but I have locked my accounts due to their poor customer service. I don't know how this business stays afloat. This is not an exaggeration. If I don't hear from anyone by tomorrow, email or call, I will report you to several agencies. Thank you.
