Long-distance move from Joliet, IL to Yulee, FL

Nothing but a disaster!

When they first called they made me feel very good about my move; we did a complete innovatory of my stuff they gave me an awesome price. All my stuff was in storage and they were told how big the units were. When the movers showed up they told me that it was going to cost me $4000.00 more than what I was quoted. They told me they low balled me to get my business. Then they told me they would cut my amount in half if I gave them $500.00 cash to put into their pockets. after a long negotiation we settled on a price because I really was stuck and needed the move. I asked the movers if there was another truck coming because they only brought a 24 foot truck. I had a 10x30 and a 10x10 storage unit. They told me that it will all fit into the truck. They broke a table when loading the truck and they never told me about it, I had to ask about it. They took over 10 hours to load truck and not all my stuff fit into it. When I asked what now they told me there was nothing they could do about they stuff that didn't fit. I had to rent a truck that cost me another $1000.00 and drive the rest of the stuff to the house. So I also lost money on my plane ticket because I had to cancel it. When the movers arrived they told my wife they will not unload until she came up with the extra money and they wanted cash not credit card like we agreed to pay them. They finally took the card but we also had to pay a service charge on it. Many of my stuff was smashed and several things were broken. I have written emails and made calls and have not gotten a return response from them. As I said this was a disaster and I will make sure the better business bureau knows of how they conducted themselves.

Do Not Use Long Distance Movers!! They Are Liars!!

If possible, I would give them ZERO star. They are actually a broker but they told me they were not. They told me I could get a big discount if I signed the contract right away. It looked like a good deal. After I signed the contract, I found the items list in the contract was different from the one they asked me to review before I signed. They deducted the number of items I wanted to ship without telling me. So actually I didn't get discount at all. In other words, they gave me a lower price by secretly reducing the item numbers but they told you that they gave you a discount. How crooked they are! Ever since I signed, the guy (Joe) had never answered my phone and email, just like disappeared suddenly. They just a broker but they told me they were not. The moving company (SEGA Transportation Inc) they hired is the worst company I have ever seen. My stuff was delivered so late (6 weeks), and some of them were broken. The driver was so rude and greedy. I will write a review on this SEGA Transportation Inc later.

Long-distance move from Philadelphia, PA to Washington, DC

Absolutely terrible. Do not use.

This company is not a moving company. They are a contracting service. They contracted out my move to a third party who I ended up dealing with. The move was terrible. The movers were negligent, they did not bring boxes nor did they bring moving equipment that I was told by Long Distance Movers Inc would be there. My furniture was damaged, and a number of my belongings were broken. I understand that things can break in a move, but this company did a terrible job, and the movers did a terrible job. I have moved 8 times in the last 10 years and this was the worst and most painful move by far.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. Instead have a local company come give you a quote in person.

Long-distance move from Arizona to Iowa

The Right Mover for Everybody.

I was able to notice perfect move when I watched these guys sent from Long Distance Movers as they were able to display their expertise and professionalism in service. Their attitude to work, respect and even politeness are among the factors that assured me of their quality and value. For that reason, I am thankful for the wonderful service they rendered to me coupled with their commitment in performance. Indeed, not only that these movers rendered perfect and professional service to me, they did not waste lots of my time while rendering the service. Honestly, my expectations about this mover were not cut short as they offered me what I just need from them. Starting from the customer support teams, to the field workers of Long Distance Movers, all of them know their jobs to the last. In fact what captivated my attention was really their display of professionalism in service. For that reason, I am ready to recommend them to all my friends.

Long-distance move from California to Virginia

Terrible service.

DO NOT use this raggedy company!! These people only specialize in ripping you off!! Every time you talk to them, they want more and more money!! They give you a low quote to begin with and they raise the price TIME and TIME AGAIN!! You NEVER know who you're talking to next, and they will keep the money they've already siphoned out of you!! By the time they're finished with the lies they take you through, you could have moved yourself!!
I lost $1500 on these predators and I've also reported them to the Better Business Bureau!!
I'd give 0 stars if I could!! And if I could cuss on here, this review would be even worse!!

Long-distance move from Utah to Ohio

You can rely on them for your moves.

There was no way I could avoid moving at this time but at the same time, I wanted to enjoy the interesting racing season. At such a point in time, I found Long Distance Movers which promised to make the move superb. I opted in for them and indeed they made the move superb. To my utmost surprises, they came on time even though I called them late and packed and moved my stuff. The move was so fast that I had time to arrange my home and enjoyed the moment with my friends. When these guys came to my house for the move, I disdained them and thought they were just like other lazy movers but they continued working and packing my stuff. Before I could tell what was going on, they had finished the packing and we moved. It was the fastest and most wonderful moves I have ever had and none of my properties was ruined, destroyed or broken.

Long-distance move from California to Louisiana

Long Distance Movers Inc.

This is a horrible company. This company masquerades as a moving company, when, in actuality, this company is a broker that subcontracts out all work.

When I initially talked to the representative from this company, Jack, he was very nice and seemed honest, so I decided to use this company to move both my car and personal belongings. All seemed fine until after everything had been shipped.

Problems with the auto transport:
Initially, the individual who picked up my car (from a company that is not LDM - he was from One Source Transport, LLC in California) said it would take about two days to get the car to me, which I thought was great. My car was supposed to be delivered on a Wednesday - I get a call on Tuesday that they're going to be a little late (which is fine), but they want to first deliver it at midnight Thursday, and then ask to deliver it at 2AM Thursday morning, which I thought was unprofessional. Then, I get a call that their truck broke down and they will not be able to deliver the car until Friday (again, I was okay with this, as unexpected events do happen).

What I was not okay with was that they guy who moved my car tried to swindle me out of money - I was quoted $1000 by LDM to move the car, of which I paid a $200 deposit with LDM (so I should only owe $800). The guy who came to move the also car informed me AFTER he had taken the car that I owed him $900, and that it had to be in cash.

So, I get the car Friday morning. Luckily, I had called to complain to LDM about him overcharging me, and they did refund me $100. Everything is okay until about an hour later when I get a call form them. They say they have left one of the worker's licenses in the backseat of my car and ask if I could mail it back to them. I look on the passenger side backseat floor and see the following items (none of which belonged to me):
1: a roll of toilet paper
2. a pair of men's pants (which had the license)
3. cigarettes
4. a can of strawberry margarita
5. a receipt for a "shower" at a Pilot station

I was absolutely irate at this point. What I suspect happened is that the One Source Transport employees used my car for their personal use while their truck (which had broken down) was being fixed, and even slept in I overnight. If the men who transported my truck had been drunk and gotten into an accident while driving my car, I would have been liable. Of course, when I called LDM to complain, they said it wasn't their fault because it wasn't one of their employees who had done anything.

Problems with the transportation of my belongings:
It's been about a month after my move and I haven't received anything. It's very hard to get in touch with anyone at the company. Jack, who seemed so nice, will not return my emails. When I was finally able to get in touch with someone, I learned that it'll probably be an additional week or two before my stuff is delivered. I am crossing my fingers that I do receive my belongings and that they are not in horrible condition.

Long-distance move from New York to Oklahoma

Worst move ever.

We have been in the Air Force for 35 years and have moved countless times. This was the first time we had to arrange and pay for our own move. I researched online and selected Long Distance Movers. It was by far the worst move we have ever had. At first I was very pleased with the customer service and attention to detail. I spent several hours on the phone going over our estimates. When the truck arrived a day later than promised, the driver knew right away our estimate was way off. I understand that an estimate is not perfect, but when they finished loading at 2:00 am, the new total cost was doubled from our original estimate. We also arranged for one car to be transported. They called the day after we had left the area to say it would cost several hundred dollars more than originally promised. And they have yet to pick it up. I believe the company routinely gives a low bid to get you to sign with them knowing that the cost to the customer will double. During the week of our move, phone calls went unanswered and messages unreturned. Way different from the beginning when they were trying to get our business.

Long-distance move from Minnesota to California

Horrible company!!

Do not use this company!! They have a sales team that will lure you in and then no support or accountability during your move! We had so many problems and they didn't answer my calls and were incredibly rude once I did speak with them. Our move costed a THOUSAND more dollars than they quoted and lots of our stuff was damaged. Do not make the same mistake I did, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Long-distance move from Inverness, FL to South Charleston, OH

Extensive Damage. Missing Items. Lack of caring.

If you use this company you are doing so at your own peril. Their representative, Greg, who is no longer with the company, convinced me to cancel the move I had already booked with another company. He flat-out lied by telling me Long Distance Movers was not a broker and they had their own trucks. Imagine my shock when moving day came and two guys pulled up in a Ryder rental truck. They informed that LDM’s is in fact a broker and that my move was subcontracted to them. It gets much better though. The driver eyeballed our things and quickly told me we did not pay enough. I had to pay an additional $2400 before they would load anything, which more than doubled my original cost. When they delivered my good to the new address, my wife’s cousin met the truck since we were not at the new location yet. They left absolutely no paperwork with him to show how much everything weighed, so I probably got ripped off for more than I should have spent. But wait! There’s more! Oh yeah. They also solicited a tip from me which I felt I had to pay.

They lost two of my dining room chairs. They lost some metal lawn ornaments that had belonged to my mother. They broke our couch, our TV stand, and we are missing pieces to our platform bed (which they failed to reassemble like they were supposed to). They broke a box of my wife’s family heirlooms, totally scratched up a brand new kitchen hutch that we are still paying for. The front of a wooden trunk was totally busted off. There was more damage but you get the idea. It’s terrible.
I called LDM and complained. They said I would have to submit a claim form to the company that actually moved us and sent me a form to fill out. I emailed it back in and then followed up a few days later. That’s when I was told I would have to mail the form and it could take up to 90 days to resolve. I guess if I had not followed up I would not have known it had to be mailed. Certainly they own a printer.

I almost forgot the best part. When my wife opened one of our dresser drawers she found two pairs of women's panties that were not hers.

In the meantime, my wife and I are the ones who are being inconvenienced by having to live with busted up and missing furniture while LDM keeps pushing things off on the company they subcontracted. Nobody from either company really seems to care. No apologies. No expediting. Nothing.
I asked the customer service representative to make certain her corporate office was made aware but I doubt that has been done. If you are fond of nightmares go ahead and hire LDM. In my opinion they shouldn’t even be in business.
I’m a 14 year veteran who also grew up in a military household so I have moved a lot. NEVER have I had such a terrible experience.
