International move from , VA to , SPA

No Integrity, Theft.

Movers pilfered expensive jewelry during my international move. Items were in a room the movers were told not to touch. Instead Dwayne took it upon himself to completely pack the master suite unsupervised. Six weeks later our stuff is delivered to Europe and the unpacking begins and continues for months.
The earrings my husband bought for me for our wedding are now gone and their answer to my claim is that I should have told them they were missing on the day the room was packed. Now how was I supposed to know if they were stolen or packed? By this logic I should have demanded they remove the boxes from the truck and unpack them until I find my earrings. These people have you over a barrel and they take every advantage for themselves. You are rarely so vulnerable as when 3 strangers are packing up your home. I am convinced they purposely spread out and hurry so that you cannot watch them all or catch them stealing.
If it weren't for my employer demanding that the movers pack everything, I would never tolerate packers. As it is, I will absolutely REFUSE in the future to ever let JK Moving into my home.
Don't use them for your move.

Do Not Use For Pcs.

JK Moving initially impressed us with their professionalism. They came to our home with an iPad to do the estimate and seemed to know what they were doing. My husband is a woodworker with several items of heavy equipment that require special care, so we provided photos and weight estimates via e-mail and were assured that they could handle these and that we would be well under our 17,000 lb allowance. We had taken pains to purge, even renting a dumpster to reduce the amount that we would move, and they are the experts, or so we thought.
I was suspicious when they refused to separate out my professional gear, but they had reassured me that we would be under the allowed weight, so I didn't continue to protest this.
After the move there was no mention of any overage, and only minor damage (scratched items here and there, but not as bad as previous moves).
The job I moved for didn't work out and we had to move back at our own expense within 6 months. That move cost $17,070 with Absolute Moving Co. of Virginia Beach, VA, including packing and labor.
22 months later I get a notice of government debt. When I make inquiries I'm told that J K Moving billed the government for moving over 45,000 lbs!! That is nearly three times my allowance!! And of course no professional gear. Naturally, J K Moving has already been paid by the government, but I have to pay for the difference, over $23,000 of debt. When I attempted to contact J K Moving about the discrepancy, they stonewalled me. I have been appealing the debt with DFAS for the past 2 years but my credit is ruined by the debt and my wages have been garnished.

If you are assigned J K Moving for a PCS move, all I can advise is do it yourself. If you have had a similar experience with this mover, please contact me as I believe that this company should be investigated for fraud.

Long-distance move from Tennessee to Texas

Do Not Use jk.

First, this was not an everyday move, this was a Permanent Change of Station (PCS). With that comes certain obligations on the part of the mover and JK failed every part. Communication was impossible, there seemed to be no consistancy or proper person to deal with, their site says you are provided with a "move coordinator", we sure weren't. many messages had to be relayed to JK through their contracted estimator and still it fell on deaf ears.

From their own site "Trained at our very own facilities, our full-time crews will treat your property and your belongings as if they were there own. Critical areas of the home will be prepped before the move to minimize damage, and every item will be carefully wrapped and placed and appropriately boxed for maximum protection." The packers were pleasant enough, but they slammed books in with unwrapped antique silver items, they left items in drawers, desk, file cabinets, plastic boxes and wherever else they could to get done quicker. Furniture was not wrapped and protected. The pickup driver was angry about their job when he arrived. He had to do a great deal of packing, but there was a lack of packing materials.

When the goods arrived at our new home the delivery guys pulled off a number of broken items and they said with some just glue it. Not acceptable. This was said about an antique harpsichord and the side was completely broken off, breaking the soundboard.

Beds are supposed to be set up as well. However, despite my disability which causes severe back pain, I was forced to set up the beds. The delivery guys stood and watched as I did it. I have been unable to find papers and things like my car title (I know I should have secured that myself) because nothing is where it should be. Papers from file folders and off my desk have turned up with items from the shed and my daughter's room. Apparently wherever they could stuff them to use as wrapping and packing materials.

Several items were noted as damaged on delivery and we were told someone would contact us soon about repair or settlement, nothing happened. We filed a claim on 7-17-2011 which included our dining table leg broken completely off, dining chairs with legs broken off, a lamp made from stone from Mt Fuji (they can no longer take stone from the mountain to make items or for repairing items) and nothing. I called a month after the appraiser came out and got an email that by contract they have 60 days to make a settlement offer, but that one would be forthcoming in a week. Nothing. Now I am willing to bet that any offer will be a low-ball one and this will drag on for months if not years in resolving.

If you care anything about your items don't use this company. Supposedly people on PCS are better protected than the average customer, so if they would do these things to us guess how they would treat anyone else. Money can never replace or properly repair my items, so beware of JK Moving.

JK Moving.

After being told that our new home was not ready to move into at the last minute, I was feeling really stressed.  JK Moving was the only thing that went right during our move.  Our movers showed up on short notice to pack up my belonging and stored them for me until our new home was ready.  They were on time to pack me up and move me in. They worked quickly and efficiently; making sure that all of the boxes were placed in the right rooms.  They also did a great job at assembling the furniture which is a really pain, especially the beds from Ikea.  Thank you so much for all of your help.

Poor Packing Service.

While the moving service was professional, the packing service was quite lackluster.
They sent over two inexperienced and untrained packers who couldn't speak English and they were accompanied by an English-speaking supervisor who was mostly absent. About two hours into the project the supervisor made a whistle stop by my place and said they should finish by 2:00 or 3:00 O'clock. They finished at 6:00. Furthermore, the boxes were packed very inefficiently, which ran up the box count. (As an example, when I unpacked I found a single shot glass wrapped with an entire huge sheet of mover's wrapping paper.) Since JK Moving charges by the hour and the box count, the charges far exceeded the estimate. I feel as though I bankrolled a training class for JK Moving's packers.
A good indicator of a business establishment's commitment to their business is their response when matters don't go well. I am sorry to say that JK Moving failed miserably in this regard. Several attempts that I made to reach the decision makers at JK Moving went completely ignored, forcing me to file a dispute through my credit card company. JK Moving, at a loss for an argument, resorted to lying to my credit card company and telling them that I increased the scope of the work. I recommend dodging this cagey outfit in favor of a more reputable business.

Long-distance move from Virginia to South Carolina

Dishonest and rude.

After interviewing 4 moving companies to relocate my family from Virginia to South Carolina, we settled on JKMOVING for several reasons. First, the gentleman who came for the estimate was very personal, professional, and detailed. Second, the price was reasonable. Next, they could deliver our belongings fast. Finally, Louis said that they would be able to pack and load without us being present, when most companies would not. This was very important to us, because we have no family in the area to help, so I was told by Louis that I could provide them with a key, so they could take care of it for us, even though it was not a typical or ideal situation. He said if it meant getting the sale, they would make it work, and those were his exact words. On the day of the move, December 26, our moving team arrived 45 minutes late. I walked them through the house and had them make sure everything was good to go to get packed. They said that they would not be able to pack some things that I had left there like cleaning products, oils, etc., and I told them to leave it for the cleaning company. I gave them a key to the house, as discussed with Louis, and Ray, the mover, was very surprised. He had not been informed of our agreement, but went ahead with the packing. I told him you call me if he needed anything and told him my husband would be back the next day. We left for South Carolina The next morning, my husband boarded a plane for Virginia, and he went back to the house. He was given some liquids and some batteries to take that could not be packed, and he got in the car and drove to South Carolina again in our other car after being told he was no longer needed. Later that day, I received a call from Ray letting me know that they were unable to get our queen bed frame down the stairs and that they had already damaged the walls. While on the phone, one of the other movers was able to get it down. I asked Ray to please send a picture of the damage, which he did. He sent 3 from his cell phone. He said it wasn't that bad and asked me to not file a claim if possible, because he would have to personally pay for the damage. On Thursday December 29, our items were delivered. We went through the bingo sheet, and everything that was loaded was here. There were two boxes of nonperishable foods that they asked if they could not unpack and a box with a Christmas tree as well, so I said it would be no problem if they left those items boxed. I went upstairs when they said they were finished to find that the queen bed wasn't put together, mirror wasn't put back on the dresser, and nursery dresser wasn't finished being put together, so I asked them to finish that, snd they did. While they were doing that, I found another box that they had put in a closet, so I started to unpack it myself. Ray thoughtthe box was empty and threw it in the yard with my things still in it. It was obvious that they were getting tired, understandably, and we're rushing to get out of there. I was given forms to sign and was told that they were to confirm that everything from the bingo sheet was present. I signed, tipped them each $20, and they left. After I fed my baby, I went to the formal living area to find 6 more boxes not unpacked or discarded. We paid for a full unpack, and I was guaranteed by Louis that all of the boxes and packing materials would be removed, which was not the case. I also found a nightstand with a knob missing and with a bingo sticker strategically placed on an area with a big chunk of wood missing. They also left our patio furniture in the driveway. I decided that I wasn't going to make a big deal about it, because the guys were really nice and polite, and I felt bad that they had done so much hard work for us, even though it's a service we paid for. I have a heart for people. The next thing I did was attempt to wash clothes in my previously perfectly fine, 2 year old washer, but water gushed out the door, because it was damaged. I contacted JK, and they are supposidly sending a check for the repair. I made sure to mention that I hoped that this would not reflect negatively on Ray or the other movers. The next day, I realized that several items from our house in Virginia were not here. I contacted my realtor, who confirmed that two of the rooms in our house had not been packed or moved. Obviously, they wouldn't be on the bingo sheet, because they were ignored. Several garage items were also left. The items were wall pictures, rugs, hard hats, glasses, laundry, toilet paper holders, and similar items, which value about $400 to $500. The realtor also told me that the house was left a mess with McDonald's cups, moveing tape all over the floors, and light bulbs everywhere. Next, my cleaning company called to inform me that our hardwood floors had an area of damage. I called JKMOVING and expressed my concerns, and I was told someone would call me back. I received a call from Patricia and Mr. Zell, who had me on speaker phone. Instead of an apology, an offer to remedy my concerns, I was told that it is against the law for movers to be at my house without someone being there snd that I was wrong for allowing them to be there and for giving them a key. I was told that Louis had worked there for 20 years and that he says he never agreed to any of our arrangements. I was told that they may fire Ray for believing me. I was spoken to very rudely and was basically scolded and called a liar. I tried to contact Lous personally, but he will not answer or return my calls. If this is against the law, then why did they do it? I was present before they packed and explained the plan prior to it taking place. They had the opportunity right there to not do it. They could have called the office and confirmed that it was ok for us not to be there, but they didn't. Nobody communicated within the company, and it's not my fault. It is my fault for trusting Louis, who I guess just wanted the sale. I should have had that part in writing, but unfortunately, I didn't. I learned a great lesson from this I guess, but it still is not right! I pleaded with Mr. Zell to please just be a human being and help me ship it all here, but he won't hear it. He also said that despite the pictures sent from Ray's phone, that I can't prove any of the damages. He said also that I should have read my contact. What contract? No one can answer that question either. All I have prior to the move is an estimate with basic information, confirmation emails from Shirley with moving tips, and Louis'sword. Clearly, somebody messed up at my expense.

Terrible company.

Terrible service. I was initially impressed by the sales person pitch, however when the movers came the lead mover John was disrespectful, rude and had a real problem dealing with a woman trying to tell him what needed to be done, real ego problem. He couldn’t follow the simplest instructions and ended up walking off the job. I have moved at least 20 times and this was by far the worst moving company that I’ve ever dealt with.

Long-distance move from Frederick, MD to Boynton Beach, FL

JK Moving Services.

DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH JK MOVERS……THEY WILL LIE AND ARE A COMPLETELY DISHONEST ORGINIZATION.

I contracted with JK Movers for a Maryland to Florida move.

Below is the sequence of events with these people:
1. July 13, 2018 (Friday) – This was the loading day for JK Movers. They put down an adhesive tape on the carpets through the house. At completion of loading that afternoon, the adhesive tape was removed, and it was apparent there was a noticeable color change across the carpets. The moving supervisor took pictures of the carpets and commented on the problem saying he would follow-up. At that time, the supervisor presented me with a JK Moving form stating it should have been signed before they started loading. In reading the form, it was a waiver of liability for floor and carpet damage. I explained I could not sign as the carpets already had apparent damage.
2. July 13, 2018 (Friday) - After JK Moving left, I called a carpet cleaning service explaining an emergency situation, I.e. the carpets needed to be cleaned ASAP due to the real estate closing and walk-through the following Tuesday morning. The earliest available cleaning time would be July 16, Monday. This same carpet cleaner had cleaned them a few weeks earlier prior to listing the house, I.e. the carpets were clean. In addition, I left a phone message with Mr. Richard Rehling, JK Moving Rep, handling the move. In researching the tape adhesive, this appears to be a common problem with its use.
3. July 16, Monday - Carpets cleaned. After the cleaning, the cleaner noticed some rising in certain areas. He said it was common due to the moisture and usually settled after a day or so. However, since the walk-though was the following morning, he would come early Tuesday, July 17, to check and re-stretch if needed. The charge was $50. The total cleaning invoice was $580 which was paid.
4. I submitted the $580 claim to JK Movers which was denied based on a claim that JK Movers were not allowed to inspect the carpet and did not authorize the carpet cleaning. This is incorrect as the moving supervisor took pictures of the damaged carpet at the time commenting on the problem. As far as not authorizing, this was late Friday afternoon and an emergency situation due to the real estate closing Tuesday morning. Mr. Rehling was notified. The carpets had to be cleaned on Monday
5. I have notified JK Moving of the problem several times and was told it was being reviewed by management. In reading the other posts, this a JK Moving common delaying tactic…… JK Moving put my house sale in jeopardy through their negligence, and forced me to remedy their problem in a few hours prior to the house closing, thereby, incurring additional costs. I am in the process of filing a Small Claims Court action on principle.

JK is the worst moving company I've ever used.

I've moved a lot. I've seen some good moves and some bad. JK was hands down the worst. They will break your things, even fragile items you have to pay extra to have hand crated by them, and they will not reimburse you to fix or replace anything. They showed up late, with less people than the contract stipulated, broke thousands of dollars worth of goods. After rude service staff will argue and lie about what happened, they had the audacity to send a $100 check and claim that was what they felt was fair compensation. Pathetic. I will advise everyone I ever come across who is moving to never, ever use JK moving.

Lee Stone.

JK Moving is the greatest. They arrived at the time they said, worked hard while there, adapted smoothly to a couple of my last-minute requests, were careful with my stuff, and upfront about costs and scheduling. I got a call from JK's admin while the crew was at my home, asking if things were satisfactory -- they were. They will store my stuff till I find my next home. There was a minor glitch about some of the smaller costs, but they quickly adjusted that (otherwise they'd be perfect, and we know no one is). Another reason I chose JK, besides their great ratings in Washington Consumer Checkbook, is that they contribute in a variety of ways to their local communities. I value this highly.
