Long-distance move from Tempe, AZ to Columbia, MD

HORRIBLE AND UNETHICAL

International Van Lines severely damaged my couch, coffee table, piano, desk, dresser, bed and several other pieces of furniture. They ALSO scratched and gashed my floors and walls during the move to my new house by dragging heavy objects across the floor (rather than picking them up) and also banging my furniture into my newly painted walls, which left many scuffs, marks, and dings. I had the damage assessed by a repair company and they said it would cost several thousand dollars to address all of the property damage caused directly from International Van Lines. They refused to pay this amount despite the pictures I submitted as evidence for the claim. I am currently working with insurance to handle the rest of the claim for every damaged object... and the list is extensive.

Great Care Was Them!

We have used International Van Lines twice over the past two months. Very pleased with their service. Both times I scheduled for morning moves. Each time they were promptly or early. They are very efficient yet careful with your things. I honestly can't believe how quickly they are, which is good when you pay by the hour. I have referred them once and would again. Carmelo was the crew leader on each move, and he is excellent!!

Never use this company

Never, ever, ever, use IVL. This is the worst company I have ever worked with.

Starting from the beginning: the representative I spoke with during contracting significantly underestimated my belongings. I was quoted for a little over $8,000.

Second, my pack up and initial moving was outsourced to a third party company - Y & O Moving in the Bay Area. I knew this would be the case, but had assumed that I would at least get reputable movers. This was not the case. They did not come on the contracted day, and instead came a day late. They then failed to pack up half of my belongings, which I then I had pack myself to give to them. I watched them mis-handled my items, including denting multiple pieces of furniture, and damaging many other items. They then charged me an additional couple hundred dollars, which had not been explained, as the representative from IVL underquoted me.

My items were picked up on November 20th. I have gotten no communication when they will be delivered, except that it would be as late as January 3rd. I am currently sleeping on my floor with no way to cook, clean, or anything. I do not have the funds to buy all new items, nor would I want to as my belongings are being shipped. At this point I am considering flying back across the country to retrieve my own items, and drive them myself, as I cannot continue waiting with no updates.

The representative I am speaking to now is incredibly rude, and does not seem inclined to provide any sort of customer service other than telling me "I cannot tell you when your items will be delivered".

This is incredibly disappointing and unacceptable service. I would highly discourage anyone from ever using International Van Lines.

Long-distance move from Austin, TX to San Francisco, CA

Don't trust the fake positive reviews

TL;DR: DO NOT GO WITH THEM. They're a brokerage company and they will subcontract your move to the lowest bidder 1-2 days before your pick up date. Don't trust any of the good reviews, they're all generic review without any real story/experience cause they probably paid for those reviews. Trust what you read on Yelp.

Where to even begin...

Okay so, we were moving from Central to West Coast. My husband went on a full research mode for the best cross-country moving company and he came across International Van Lines. He told me they showed up on most sites as the #1 and even appeared on Forbes. I know you can pay to be featured on Forbes (red flag 1), but I trusted him so we went on with booking them, which also happened they gave us the lowest quote compared to anyone else.

The second red flag begins when he tried reaching Crystal, the salesperson, to book, he was never able to get to her on the phone when he called and someone else always answered the phone, and a couple hours later Crystal will either respond to his email or return his call. After we booked, this is when things started to get worse...

We're about 2 weeks out and no one has reached out to us. We had to call them to speak to someone to get a confirmation. At this point, Crystal was nowhere to be found and now we're dealing with the Account Manager, Melissa. After calling multiple times, she finally sent us a confirmation email and wow... we're both professionals and never have we ever seen an email from an *established* company to be so messy! Different fonts, font sizes, blue/red/highlighted texts, off spacing? Not gonna lie it looks like a scam email and this is when I started to question them so I went on a full research mode and found this Yelp page. They have 2 stars and I found over 400+ reviews were hidden on the page. After reading all the horror stories, my husband called Melissa to confirm with them who will pick up our stuffs in a couple days and she said "we don't know yet."

We were shocked. We were about to give our stuffs to an unknown moving company so at this point we wanted to cancel so Melissa told us Crystal will reach out. A couple minutes later Crystal called my husband and it's about to get juicy from here. (Also, be glad they recorded the phone call because I hope they listened to it again and realized how horrible their customer service is. Pro tip, maybe record on your side as well because they said a lot of lies.)

Crystal started off saying if we want to cancel and get a refund, we could but she just wanted to understand why. When my husband said it's because they weren't being transparent that they're a broker company, she said "oh, you didn't do your research?" which also translates to "it's your fault for being scammed". We went back and forth on how she should be telling us about their business model from the beginning and she firmly believes it's okay for her to withhold information because we should be doing our research blablabla. After we keep pressing we wanted to cancel, you can tell from her voice she's getting frustrated because she started 1) raising her voice borderline yelling at us, 2) threatening us saying we'll never get our money back ever when she clearly said in the beginning of the call we could, 3) telling us we'll never be able to find another moving company who's willing to pick up our stuffs in the next couple of days. Overall, horrible customer service so I AM GLAD the call was being recorded so hopefully she can re-listen to it and realize she shouldn't be customer facing.

We ended up cancelling regardless of her threats and I am thrilled to tell the world, especially Crystal, we were able to find a legit Cross Country movers who were able to pick up our items on that same day we were supposed to, delivered it safely and on time, and was transparent about everything.

We really dodged the bullet on this one so here I am telling everyone to stay away from International Van Lines. Trust the reviews on Yelp

Long-distance move from Illinois to Texas

DO NOT USE - They hire temp workers out of the HD parking lot!

They are just a broker. They hire contractors to handle your stuff. You are expecting an experienced moving crew and you end up with some guys who were looking for a landscaping job that morning. Your stuff will get damaged. It will get dropped at the front door, be left in pieces and they will leave counting your cash. Save your money and hire a real moving company. And their customer service is as bad as their moving service.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to New York, NY

Horrible!!! Made my move 10x more stressful than it ever needed to be

I am shocked at the level of incompetence shown by this company. I went with them for my move from Chicago to NYC because they are highly rated online (by sites like Forbes). And they were the most expensive so I figured - they must know what they are doing. WRONG. Maybe they are fine for a simple residential move involving going from one suburb to another. Who knows. I can tell you they are awful when it comes to moving to and from a big city. As if they have never done it before. And I understand a big city move is a different kind of beast - but I specifically asked them about their experience with big city moves when I was trying to make my decision on what mover to hire and I was told they do it every day and have tons of experience. So that, In combination with their overall positive reviews, made me go with them.

My experience from the get go was awful. First I told them they needed to get a parking permit for Chicago. This comes from the city and would block the parking in front of my house on the day of the move so that no one can park there minus my movers. They told me the customer is responsible for that. Nope. Not in Chicago. You are not allowed to request that kind of parking permit as a regular resident - the moving company has to do it. It’s clear on the City’s website and I even called to check (and confirmed IVL had an account already with the city making this process even more easy). I told them that and then it was like - oh yeah, we reached out to our person in Chicago and you’re right. So they said they would handle it. 1 day before the move I get a call that the movers were coming the next day. “Where’s the parking permit?” I ask. After some back and forth they tell me they thought I was getting it and there had been a misunderstanding. WTF?! Luckily, I live on a pretty wide 1-way street in the city and I asked my neighbors if they would mind moving their cars for my movers. If I hadn’t had this particular situation, it could have been a nightmare. As you can see, things aren’t going well and we haven’t even made it out of Chicago.

Fast forward to 3 months later when I am ready to have my items delivered to me in NYC. I live in a midrise building in NYC. I was told I needed a certificate of insurance from the movers (a very, very common request). I told IVL about this a month in advance of the delivery. Considering how badly they mucked up the pick up I figured the more time I give them, the better. Here is how that whole process went:

1) month before first possible delivery date- I tell them I need a COI and provide the requirements (and that my building doesn’t allow weekend moves). I am told they noted both requirements.

2) week before - I ask them for an update on the COI since I have heard nothing. They ask me to send them the requirements again.

3) a few days before - I ask again. Nothing. I then get an email updating me my delivery is on the way. I tell them over phone and email I need the COI or no delivery can happen.

4) day before - mover calls me and tells me he can deliver as soon as Saturday. Remember that other requirement???? No weekend delivery. Guess no one told him. I tell him and I tell him I have no COI.

I know this is a godawful long review so I’ll try to wrap it up now. I literally asked for a COI at least 5x from different people. They literally kept asking me to send them the requirements as if they had never heard of it before. Not kidding. I was calling and emailing constantly over a 24-48 hour timeframe. I had to take on the job of coordinating with the delivery guy because no one was doing their job. I finally got that COI at 5:30pm on a Friday night. I had to beg my building manager to review it over the weekend so that the mover could come on Monday. Oh and there were all kinds of extra charges that the delivery guy charged me that was never mentioned up front.

It all ended up kind of okay in that I got my stuff and it was generally in okay condition. But the move only happened because I did their job for them. I paid them to coordinate this move and I did all the coordination. They are seriously the biggest bunch of incompetent people I’ve ever dealt with. And no one followed up ever to ask me how the move went, if the COI was ironed out, how my experience was, etc. I think it’s pretty obvious why this company doesn’t ask for reviews.

Moving is one of the most stressful things you can do. They made it 100x more stressful. I would never recommend this company to anyone - unless you enjoy stress, wasting your time saying the same thing over and over again to a brick wall, and calling and checking your email every 10 minutes praying for a helpful response.

BEWARE!

BEWARE!!!!! Weststar Relocation via Allied International Van Lines will scam you! They (Rick Gray) will come into your home and will give you an estimate, then on the day of your move, Weststar Relocation will increase the amount by thousands and will refuse to move anything until you pay. They will damage your furniture, then Anthem (their claims management company) will go out of their way to make sure you are not reimbursed. Also, upon delivery, their driver, Azizbek Akhadov, shook me down for an additional $350 in cash to pay a 3rd party to move my furniture into my home. DO YOURSELF AND YOUR FINANCES A FAVOR AND LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A MOVING COMPANY.

WELL ORGANIZED

International Van Lines moved us to TX. The guys wrapped our furniture and china and art and musical instruments beautifully- nothing dented, scratched, broken or chipped. Not one thing. They moved us all in and arranged things, so I didn't have to move a finger. Plus, the crew members are just really nice guys. They are a pleasure to deal with. Long-distance move from La Habra, CA to Kansas City, MO

Overcharged and no customer service

I read great reviews about IVL. But after my experience I don't understand how they can get great reviews as they are a broker- they didn't move my stuff. I had a good bid from IVL of 500 cubic feet($4,265). IVL hired L D Moving & Storage to move my stuff. LD Moving said I had 750 cubic feet($6,265) even though IVL and LD Moving inventory differ very little. LD Moving says "this always happens" that their estimates differ greatly from IVL. IVL defers to the carrier no matter what-even after "investigation". Either IVL underbids to get the job or LD Moving overcharges - period. Expensive experience.

Overcharged and misled

Overcharged on unload by $1,700 after we repeatedly checked with carrier and driver to make sure the van could make it into the storage facility. they repeatedly said no problem then when arrived, determined that they would have to unload and reload into a UHaul to get the items down the road. had us over a barrel (we had to pay before they would do anything) and when we went to dispute, they quoted the contract (which also states "Most situations don't require a shuttle" -- so further inappropriate assurance. we are filing a complaint with US Dept of Transportation. if anyone has similar terrible experience please reach out and DO NOT USE IVL!!!

Bait and Switch!

We made the mistake of trusting International Van Lines with our move from Illinois to California. There were many, many issues with customer service after they had our money, and careless movers did serious damage to our belongings. But, the biggest problem was that the final cost was 60% higher than the quote

The price of the move was raised by about 35% two days before our move, when we had no other choice but to move forward with it (our house had already sold and we needed to be in California for work). The cost was raised another 25% on moving day after our belongings were loaded onto the truck. They demanded payment by cash or check.

Beware International Van Lines.

Subcontracting - Do Not Use

I used IVL because of decent online reviews that they have. However, these reviews do not apply to their subcontractors. IVL acts as a moving company AND as a broker. They can sell your move to a junk company that will destroy your goods during the move.

They sold our move from WA to FL to "Navy Seal Moving LLC" who damaged most of the goods and some were lost.

International move from Cleveland, OH to Montreal, QC

Buyer beware

I generally do not write derogatory reviews but rather vote with my pocket and elect not to give my business to them as my experience can be an outlier. However, this company seems to capitalize on the fact that repeat customers, especially for international moving, is not a part of their business plan and they treat you as such. I was moving from Ohio to Quebec, a distance of around 500 miles, a move size of a small 2 bedroom apartment. Cost was on the higher side, 6000 but I elected for this as the reviews were great. We enjoyed our initial talk with the manager Nico, who helped us set up the move 5 months before the move date. He had iterated on multiple occasions that the move will take 3-5 days (which was later clarified as 3-5 business days, which we understood and took it as a mea culpa). Long story short, it took 25 days of miserable calling, poor customer support and “you will get your shipment when we are ready” attitude. Had we been treated humanely, I actually would have understood this delay. However, a few things frustrated me:

IVL was a broker in my case without me knowing. I paid 2500 to them and they hired a company with the worst reviews I could find on google and one I actively avoided (AMS transportation, to whom I paid 3500). I would not have minded this if I was told about this at the time I signed the contract as when these smaller companies work for larger companies, they tend to behave better.

I complained to Nico about this delay and the unresponsiveness of AMS. Nico was nice enough on the phone and over email and also said the timeline is ridiculous for a 500 mile trip, he will find out what is going on and get back to me. He did not get back to me on all 3 occasions where he promised to investigate what is going on.

I was told when signing the final contract on my moving day that the “shipping delivery date” should be left empty as the exact date cannot be specified. But if I had discussed something with the dispatch, it will be honored. 25 days later, I saw this same contract that I signed and I now see “carrier’s convenience” written over the delivery date.

Long story short, my experience was that IVL is a broker who takes a large sum of money without providing adequate support or responsibility of their hired company. Once they have your money and furniture, they don’t care at all as the chance for repeat business in this industry is low anyways. If you have no choice but to go with IVL, I would advise that: you do not make the full payment until your goods are delivered. Write in every empty part of the contract as they will write things in there AFTER you have signed. Once you have signed, request a copy of the contract to avoid these illegal alterations.

Long-distance move from Oakland, CA to New York, NY

IVL is a dishonest broker - avoid at all costs

Hiring IVL was hands-down the worst purchasing decision of my life. I moved cross-country (CA to NY) and IVL farmed me out to a subcontractor TWO DAYS before the move. That subcontractor has a 1-star rating and is among the worst reviewed movers in America. IVL knows this, and they still give them work. If you were to book directly with that subcontractor, you'd pay a lot less (given their reputation) and understand the risks you're taking. But with IVL, they make you believe you are hiring THEM directly, and charge you as such. Then they subcontract you to firms they KNOW are absolutely awful, and pocket a handsome finder's fee. What's worse - given I was notified just 2 days before the move, I'd ALREADY made my insurance decision based on belief IVL would be handling my move directly. My move was 6 weeks late with several fully missing items (value: well over $1000) that were never recovered. Working with IVL to get so much as an update on where my things were was absolute hell that probably took years off my life. IVL is a dishonest company that claims to be something they are not, in order to profit off your trust (that they will then abuse). I worked with Melissa (sales), Jason (ops), Daisja (compliance), Julie (compliance), and also emailed the company founders (Josh and Jay). I've seen this company for what it is. I have full receipts of all communication as proof of their negligence and incompetence. Absolutely do not give them your business.

DO NOT USE International Van Lines

This was by far the worst moving company we have ever used. The driver in charge did not supervise a group of young packers so the result was that our beautiful belongings were damaged/broken. Items were just tossed in boxes without being wrapped properly. Best example: they carefully wrapped a $3 cheese grater but didn't protect a ceramic planter from the 1900's and it's now in pieces. They lost/misplaced parts to our tables, took off the legs of tables that we can no longer find the screws for. It has been the most worst move we have ever had. Antique furniture was broken, things that are irreplaceable. Thank goodness we crated some of our most breakable art work...they also put oil paintings in boxes to protect other things, luckily none were damaged. I put the blame on the hiring of unprofessional packers and the driver that didn't supervise. He rushed them to get a 10,000 sq ft house packed in 2 days instead of 3/4 days...therefore they didn't take the care it took to send our household items in one piece.

Long-distance move from New Rochelle, NY to Wesley Chapel, FL

HORRIBLE

It's hard to imagine worse moving company. They lie to you from the moment you start talking to them.

First of all, they are a broker company, they hire some cheap companies to do their work for cheap but charge you premium for the brand. They would tell you to hire them because they are "best in market" but in reality they hire whoever is the cheapest.

Second, before you pay them money they would tell you things like "your move will take maximum 5 days, we put in a contract 21 just in case of some extraordinary situation happens", in reality, as soon as you pay them money, they say things like "you signed a contract, we have 21 business days to deliver your thing". So be prepared to stay one month in a hotel if you hire this company. When I called customer service a guy would say things like "you changed your delivery date so many times", "6K is not much money, just wait 21 days". Absolutely disgusting customer service.

Third, non existent customer service. You can never reach them. You can call/email/leave the message, but they just don't respond to you. The only people who are available are the once who take your money and make you sign up, after getting your money, good luck talking to anyone.

Fourth, every single piece of our furniture was damaged! They also made a hole in our wall, damaged a staircase! We had a new house, just renovated, and movers came in with zero regard for our furniture or our house, made a literal hole in the wall. Please tell me how much worse it could be?

Fifth, they will charge you so much more money than they initially tell you. They charge by sq.ft, so they would pack something tiny in the big box and change you extra. Also, they ask if 18 wheeler can come to the place and deliver furniture. We found out from neighbors and HOA that 18 wheeler will have no issues, however movers told us that "we cannot maneuver" and they asked for more money to get uhaul and deliver things on a smaller track.

Sixth, on delivery they didn't assembly majority of our furniture and said "they had other deliveries".

To sum up: broken furniture, damaged house, overcharged move, and horrible customer service.

Please, please, please, do yourself a favor and avoid this company!

Horrible, Scary, Fraudulent

One of the worst experiences of our life. Missed the moving date window, which messed up our house close. And, then showed up three days later to insist they needed $30k cash for a move that was quoted by their "pros" at $13k. Pure bait and switch, and there is not an attempt at all to hear or be empathetic to their customers. Shameful organization that we will probably sue for damages and our deposit back.

Move from Dallas to NC

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY - I felt SCAMMED. I arranged to use IVL for a simple move from Dallas, TX to North Carolina. They were extremely responsive in the beginning with returning calls and providing information. The packing and loading went well. The problem occurred on delivery.

I had specified from day one before any papers were signed that I required the movers to unpack my boxes and to include it in my quote. I was told this would be included in the move total on numerous occasions as this was very important to me. When I mentioned to the driver they would need to unpack the boxes, he told me he had not been informed of this and was not planning to unpack the boxes. I promptly called IVL and they proceeded to tell me it would cost an additional $500 to have my boxes unpacked. This was such a SCAM!!! This was even detailed out on my invoice as included in the costs. They would not answer my calls and I was told by the driver he was the person in charge of my load. I was able to discuss with IVL, but only on his phone and they were adamant that if I wanted my boxes unpacked, I had to pay an additional $500. In the meantime, the driver told the hired hands they would have to stay and unpack the boxes for no extra pay and a whole new fight broke out in my front yard. This was extremely stressful and embarrassing and unfair to me as I had been led to believe I had already paid for the unpacking.

In the end, I did not pay them the $500 and I had to unpack the boxes myself. The driver insisted I sign the delivery papers with no opportunity to check the inventory, and he promptly left. I later figured out that he must not have completely unloaded the truck. As soon as I signed the papers, he slammed the doors closed on the truck and left. I am now left with approximately $2300 in undelivered items. There is no form on their website to claim a loss, nor will anyone return my message as I have left several. DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!

Move from Texas to New Mexico

This moving company doesn’t treat your furnishings with care. We had several things broken and several nice pieces of furniture dented and scratched. Boxes marked fragile and this side up were on the bottom of the stack placed down.

The driver was nice and courteous but was a contractor as were the guys who unloaded the furniture. The crew was in a hurry and not good. They were literally running with dolly’s and unwrapping nice upholstered chairs on the gravel driveway.

But the worst was customer service. My furniture didn’t show up in the day it was supposed to which I understand is not a guarantee. But you would think they would call you you to let you know. I never heard from them after several calls and emails. A week later the driver calls and says I’ll be there in the morning. This company doesn’t care. Poor customer service. Go elsewhere.

Long-distance move from Massachusetts to Colorado

Poor service with overprice

The driver was supposed to pick up my car on Aug 19, and the driver told me that he canceled my order 3 hours before the pick-up time. The conversation over the phone with the driver was rude, which included f*** words, and without providing the proper cancellation reason. I tried to call International Van Lines, but I had difficulty reaching out to the operator, where the dedicated operator was out, and her backup person couldn't be reached. I told the customer service call center that I wanted to escalate the issue due to my urgency, and she ignored my request and kept putting on the line to the backup person.

After trying for 1hr, only the backup person reached back to me and tried to get another driver to pick up my car. With his conversation, I was told that my car could be left in the parking spot and the car key could be left somewhere hidden, where I didn't need to be present for the driver to pick up my car, but this info was conflicted with the later information.

Another car shipping service company reached out to me and said that they would pick up my car on Aug 22. However, I was told by my neighbor that my car hadn't been picked up on Aug 23, which was one day delayed. My wife called to car shipping service company, and they only told us that they couldn't get a driver, which they never informed us so that we could rearrange our schedule. The driver picked up our car on Aug 25, which was 7 days delayed at this point. After the pick-up, we were told that the car would be delivered to our place on Aug 31 or Sept 1. However, on Sept 1, we were informed that the arrival of the car would be delayed again to Sept 2, and arrived at 10 pm after our calling.

We had no visibility on the car shipping and only found out the fact after we called their service with multiple tries each time. The car should arrive on Aug 25, but it came on Sept 2, which was 7 days delayed. We had to spend an additional ~$700 to rent the car for another week.

No reply from the dedicated operator after writing the complaint email and CEO was also included in the email. International Van lines have poor customer service and bad drivers. The entire process didn't provide clear visibility to the customer. Would highly not recommend to their service.

This Company Sucks

I thought that hiring IVL was a no brainer but unfortunately found out otherwise. During the whole move I never dealt with anyone from IVL, always used contractors. I think they are a broker and not a mover. The people unloading my things were day laborers hired from Craigslist. I had "IVL" pack all my items and despite this they broke many items, 3 items in one box alone. Do yourself a favor, look elsewhere, this company does not deserve all the plaudits they have received.

Only use if you want to junk you stuff

I used IVL after reading some reviews that seemed positive, now I realize all the positive reviews were likely paid reviews. IVL promised a price and date for my move from Chicago to Las Vegas which was all handled professionally, but that's where the positive experience ends.

- When they are looking to sign you up, they'll say anything to get the contract. Jeremy claimed they don't use subcontractors for delivery, and if you read through some reviews, you'll realize they basically only use subcontractors. On driver who made the delivery said I needed to pay cash or get a money order to his trucking company as it was contracted out to him.

- IVL packed my furniture as per the agreement so they took apart some of the furniture and packed the parts and said they would put it back together on delivery. But on delivery, the driver was adamant on not doing that even after I showed him the paperwork that showed, it was promised unless I paid him more money to do it. This turned out to be a moot point as all the parts for my furniture was lost during the delivery. Now I'm left with over 20k in furniture without parts to put it back together. Seems they also lost some other boxes along the way.

- As things were getting unpacked, I noticed that most of the heavy furniture was dinged. Also a $1200 end table was smashed into pieces and a $5k dining table's base was cracked and will no longer sit level. So I started the claims process which really made me upset. IVL said they were sorry and wanted to offer $400 as compensation, if I waive the claims process and not write any negative reviews about my experience.

I obviously did not that the "deal", as I think it's more important for me to warn other prospective movers to avoid IVL. At the end of the day saving a thousand dollars for the moving cost will end up costing you 5x the saving once factoring in the broken/missing things from your move.

Long-distance move from Miami, FL to Brooklyn, NY

UNPROFESSIONAL & RUDE. I STILL DON'T HAVE MY ITEMS.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY - This company is a scam. They will pick up your items, take your money then dodge your calls and emails when you ask for updates on where your items are.

I hired them to move my household items from Florida to New York. They ensured me it would take 7-10 days to arrive, but that they cannot guarantee a for sure date, so to assume it would take at most 10 days. They never ONCE specified business days in any conversations I had prior to pickup of my items. They picked up my items on Monday October 24th. It's Monday November 7th (15 days), and I have not received my items and now their dispatch staff are not only being incredibly disrespectful to me by not allowing me to speak when on a call with them, but have even hung up the phone on me and refuse to take any of my calls. I still have not received my items.

They picked up my items on Monday October 24th. On Saturday, October 29th, I emailed them to ask for a status update, to which they told me my items had just been "loaded" onto the truck the day prior and wouldn't be leaving Florida until Tuesday November 1st. Apparently after they pick up your items, they get loaded onto another truck with other peoples items so they can complete multiple trips at once. They ensured me I would receive my items that weekend.

They also said that my items were going to be delivered by Coach USA. When I contacted Coach USA, they let me know they don't even offer this service and that they are a shuttle bus service.

The weekend passes and t's now Monday, November 7th. It has been 15 days since my items were picked up. I have called their staff (Karen and Danielle) multiple times, and have yet to receive a call back. When I emailed Danielle, she gave me a vague automated answer saying "At this time the driver is still in route. As soon as he is 24-48 hours out they will call you." She had said this multiple times prior and I had already let her know I never received a call. I called the manager Sean to ask about this, and he was so rude and inconsiderate. He didn't even let me talk and rudely said "give me a few more hours to get back to you. you think you're mad? I'm even more mad than you".

At this point, I just want my items. I'm so sad that I had to spend my entire savings to hire this moving company and they don't even have the decency or professionalism to provide me with accurate updates.

UPDATE - Danielle has called me back and has continued to speak to me in a rude and disrespectful manner, as if I'm being an inconvenience for seeking clarity about where my items are. She has told me "I'm not allowed to tell you where the truck is" and threatened to hang up the phone with me. When I asked her "Wow this is the customer service I'm receiving?" She HUNG UP. I will update this if anything changes.

Long-distance move from Tucson, AZ to Washington, DC

Save yourself the money, time, and hassle

Somehow (buying reviews?) this company has many 5-star reviews. DO NOT TRUST THEM!! Or the good reviews you read on so many moving websites. Seriously, how this company got so many websites to rank them highly is just beyond me. Here's my story:

I got quotes from four different companies. They were the only ones who didn't come out to do an actual inventory (red flag 1 - unfortunately, I knew none of these red flags at the time). They came in lowest, so I hired them. They asked me to send one of the inventories I'd gotten from one of the other movers, which I did, and they gave me an updated estimate (still lower than the others). I also asked, before I made a commitment, about time limits as I was willing to ship my items earlier to get them there in a reasonable amount of time. The saleswoman said that it would probably take 7-10 days (cross country) and that picking up early wasn't necessary. They take a 40% deposit at hire (red flag 2). I updated my inventory twice before move (as I was still getting rid of stuff during packing), and they gave me an updated estimate.

Come moving day, somebody other than IVL shows up (red flag 3) in a Budget truck (red flag 4). The guy looked at my apartment and said that, based on his "20 years of experience," I had 450 cubic feet, but he would do me a favor and only charge me for 431 cubic feet, which happened to be the footage on my first estimate. (Oh, red flag 5 - they go by cubic feet, not weight. The salespeople will try to upsell you on this, but you can't have them weigh afterwards to make sure that they're not overcharging you!) So the movers IVL hired didn't honor their binding estimate. This ended up costing me ~$400 more than their estimate. (I took pictures of the paperwork when the movers dropped my stuff off. They had my load at 300 cubic feet. This would have been a price difference of over $1000.)

I emailed IVL after arriving in my new location (6 days after pickup). I was told the following day that my stuff still hadn't left the warehouse and it could take them up to 21 business days (read: ~4 weeks to deliver). This is all in their paperwork, and if you call them out, they'll say, You had it in writing, but as my sister said, this is basically them saying, Don't trust a thing we tell you. (Seriously. Don't.) I continued following up with them, eventually asking them to call instead of email because I wanted to have an actual conversation. When she did call (3 days later), she was incredibly angry that I wanted to, you know, actually speak to the people to whom I'd given 90% of my belongings and a not insignificant amount of money. She then finally told me my stuff would be packed the following week (4 weeks after pickup and 3 weeks after my first available delivery date).

My stuff finally arrived over 2 weeks after it was originally shipped (6 weeks after it was picked up). They lost two of my chairs and my dining room table. Oh, and they're supposed to pay me for the late shipment. ($20 a day, and they reneged about what the first late day was. All of this was rather insulting.) My stuff was delivered 30 days ago and I still haven't gotten a check.

If you're still with me, maybe you have an idea of what waiting for your things will feel like if you go with IVL. Save yourself the hassle (and money when you have to replace your things and get upcharged) and go with a better company.

Long-distance move from Birmingham, MI to Benton, AR

Theft and poor integrity

IVL moved me through a sub-contracted company, Y and O Moving out of Florida. This company hired two convicts with long rap sheets to move us. While my wife was downstairs in our home two of the movers proceeded to rob us of thousands of dollars worth of valuables (that we had moved ourselves). The two individuals then proceeded to try and sell the items at a later date. This triggered arrest warrants through the local PD and both individuals were arrested. I have litigated both companies and both are claiming that it isn't their problem that they hired convicts who robbed us of items not even moved by them. I offer this as a warning to anyone considering these companies. They are negligent in their hiring practices and lack integrity to take responsibility when their negligence causes harm to their customer. They then refuse to compensate and drag out the legal process in hopes that they can avoid any culpability in the matter. Truly disgusting behavior.
