Long-distance move from Virginia to South Carolina

Bait and Switch.

The move started smoothly with great guys packing everything. However, after being told specifically that my belongings would NOT be put into storage, they were. I was also told they would be delivered on a Thursday but instead were subcontracted to another company who delivered them at 6:30pm on Monday. Not only were they reckless, throwing boxes everywhere, but they were slow. We finally told them to leave at 1:00am after they got furniture in the house and put back together. All the boxes were still in the garage. I paid for proper delivery but ended up having to do much of the work myself. When I tried to reach someone, I got no where. Wasn't until I started complaining on social media sites that someone contacted me. Too late. There are much better movers out there. Use them; not International.

Long-distance move from Virginia to Arizona

Very poor movers and packing.

1. International Van Lines more than doubled price of the move on moving day! I had repeatedly asked, verbally and in writing, for them to make sure the estimate was accurate, as I did not believe they were including enough boxes. I was told, in writing, that as I had paid for a full pack, "the number of boxes did not matter." That was a lie, obviously, given they more than doubled the price when it was too late for me to find another mover. They had based the estimate on the furniture only, according to the driver.
2. Very poor packing done by company (missed entire silverware drawer and entire linen cupboard, plus packed poorly in general). I have found 5 broken things thus far and am only about 2/3 through unpacking.
3. Packers did not mark boxes as to what room they came out of, so it has made unpacking more difficult than necessary. This is despite them using boxes with a list on the side, where they only had to check mark a box for the right room.
4. Driver was grouchy and did not honor what had been said (in writing via email) by company. He was upset the packing took longer than he had expected.
5. Driver did not have the most recent estimate from company, so was clearly upset that he did not realize he needed to use wardrobe boxes (did not want to believe me until I showed him the most recent estimate).
6. Mover kept my belongings in Virginia for 3 weeks before even getting them started across country. Though they promised delivery in 7-21 days, it took them 4 weeks to deliver.
7. Mover promised they would not sub-contract out the move, but that is exactly what they did (another lie). The driver who delivered my belongings told me he did not work for IVL.
8. Because they will not tell you until one or two days ahead, and because IVL held on to my belongings for 3 weeks before they even started driving them across country, I was forced to cancel a long scheduled weekend trip.
9. This was truly the worst moving experience of my life and I have moved across the country several times, so have a lot of experience with moving companies.

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

They are great!

We used MVL for our move from FL to Brooklyn, NY. We chose MVL simply because they provided the best quote and seem to have a good reputation. My sales rep Ben was very easy to work with. He did a great job explaining the process and provided us with a "binding quote". Their movers were very polite and professional. We packed the majority of our own goods, but had MVL pack fragiles. We rec'd our goods about 1 week later with no damages. I've read a lot of horror stories on the internet so I am happy I was one of the lucky ones to come across a reputable moving company. They get 5 stars from me and I would use them again.

Long-distance move from Florida to Alabama

Best moving company!

I worked with the IVL branch out of FL. They handled my move from FL to Alabama and did a great job. I chose IVL simply because they were the most responsive and easy to work with. Their cost would also pretty reasonable. They were a bit more expensive the a couple of other companies I was looking at, but i've been burned in the past so I didn't want to take a risk. I'm happy to know they have a location out of Chicago. I just referred them to my parent who are also moving to Alabama. They have not been picked up yet so I will update this review once the move is completed. I think they deserve 5 stars and I would use them again. if you call their office speak with Justin.

Long-distance move from Illinois to New York

Recent move.

IVL handled my move from Chicago to NY. I hired IVL due to their reviews on Consumer Affairs.

IVL was ranked number 1 so I figured I can't go wrong and I was right. My rep Justin was awesome!

He went over all the details and made the process very easy for my family and I. Their movers (Mike, Dan and Serge) were great.
They showed up on time, packed everything properly. I would use them again.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to New York

Stanley.

I used IVL for a local move in NY metro. The movers showed up on time and performed above and beyond.
They offered a flat rate which is why I selected them. The last moving company I used ended charging more than the expected cost. I chose IVL based on their reviews from previous customers.
I would use them if I need and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good moving company.

Long-distance move from California to Georgia

Worst Experience Ever.

Quoted no more than 14k for our move
From CA to GA.. ended up being OVER 3k more.. we paid more than $17,000! We were Quoted 5-7 days for things to arrive.. last on the truck and the first off.. took almost 21 days! Multiple Items were broken and we are so over trying to communicate with these liars we are not going to try and get the money to replace the broken items such as baby's crib, pottery barn end table, baby dresser leg broken off and others.. the men unloading came so tired the one slept in the truck almost the whole time and the other worked solo half the day until they called two random guys from Craigslist to come help! I asked that the beds and crib be up by 6:30 and they weren't up until 8p and they didn't have any tools or drills to help put tables and beds and tables together! Worst company to deal with!

Long-distance move from Kentucky to Connecticut

Unreliable and discourteous.

1. Several days/hours late for pick up and delivery.
2. Actual costs on the day of the move were 90% higher than originally quoted.
3. Rude and unprofessional after they get your money and possessions.
4. No way of accounting for possessions (items were either not numbered or the majority of the stickers fell off) .
5. High value possessions are missing and they claim not to know where they are (tools, jewelry, down bedding, etc.)
6. Extremely careless with our items, broke and damaged several furniture items and boxes.

Long-distance move from Indiana to Texas

Moving.

This is the worse company we have ever used.
When I contacted them I ask about the delivery time and was told it was between 1 and 5 days. Wrong it is between 1 and 21 days.
Their inventory stated 1800 cu/ft. I told them it was wrong and it would be around 2400 cu/ft. They sent a truck with a 1800 cu/ft capacity. I called and they said that a second truck had been sent and would be there within an hour. Wrong - didn't arrive until the next day.
On a long move they do not deliver directly from the pick up location to the destination, They send the load to a warehouse where it sits until they have a full load for a bigger truck. That mean that you goods are loaded twice and unloaded twice by two different movers. This results double the chance of damages.
Damages: 2 dinning room chairs with the arms broken off.
Dinning table with a big mar on the surface.
Oak kitchen table with broken back.
Queen Ann sewing cabinet with broken leg.
Grand Father clock with broken let.
Head board and 2 side rails for full bed missing.
25 boxes missing.
When you call the agent handling your move they will not answer the phone and will not return calls.
Never use this company.
