Imperial Moving and Storage

Do not use this business. They have a pattern and practice of lying to their customers, overbooking moves, and abusing their crews. I used them recently for an out of state move. They drastically under estimated the amount of time it would take to pack my apartment. The crew they used had worked 30 hours in the two days before my move and were exhausted. After they were with me for 10 hours, the company demanded that they go directly to another job. They then switched out my crew, loaded the van with another move, and sent it to Maine, despite a promise to arrive in Massachusetts the next day by noon. I called their office several times. No one could give me a straight answer as to why my things were delayed. They had someone call me to say there was a problem with the truck, but this was a flat out lie. Both of the foremen involved in my move said the company lies to people all of the time. I called them about 10 times, and no one could connect me with management, no one apologized, and the only thing they offered me was $100 off my move.
I wrote to management and received no response. It's clear they lie to people all of the time and have no problem with it because they think they can get away with it.

We used Imperial Movers on 5/5. They are great with their upfront sales pitch. But in terms of execution and the actual move - Do not use them! What a horrible experience. The guys they sent were rude, treated our stuff badly, and just wanted to get the job done. We had to ask them to slow down several times because they were just throwing stuff anywhere without asking for direction. In addition, when we booked them we were told they would help with assembly of a bed frame, table and sofa. They wouldn't help. After the move, I called twice and left a message to report the issue. No one has ever had the courtesy to call me back. I should have given more attention to the inconsistent reviews.

My wife and I moved 3 weeks ago. We were in a 1 bedroom apartment and moved into a two bedroom since we are expecting an addition to our family. We reached out to 3 companies in total because we didn’t want to go crazy comparing too many quotes. My friend recommended Imperial moving so I called them up. We received a reasonable quote which included 3 men and for about full day worth of work. We needed packing service because I didn’t have time and my wife was like 9 months pregnant so she obviously couldn’t move. We had an estimator come by and Russell from Imperial Moving provided a Flat Rate price which included packing materials, packing service and the move itself. Our total price was $2100.

At first, we thought it was a bit high for one bedroom. But when I received the other two quotes I realized all three quotes were around the same price. Since my friend recommended Imperial Moving, I decided just to move forward with them, even though they were $200 more than one other quote. I must say, we were actually very happy with the complete service. My wife was so thankful she didn’t have to do anything to prepare in advance.

Imperial suggested we allow them two days to complete the move. But I explained to them I couldn’t take a second day off of work and I didn’t want my wife to be alone when the movers were here to pack. Russell explained that my management might not allow us to work in the building for too long. I spoke to my super and management afterwards regarding the restrictions. Management wanted us to be out by 5 Pm. But my super was great, he agreed to stay a bit longer if needed until the movers left the building. Luckily, we moved into a brownstone and didn’t have any restriction at the drop off end. So the move was able to be completed in one day. It was long but we had to work with it.

Earl and his team was phenomenal! They were in brooklyn by 9 am ready to go. I used to live on Ocean Parkway and Newkirk, if you know the area you know how difficult it is to find parking on the service road. But they were early so they got lucky and found parking front of the building - which made the situation so much more easier.

I took this time to write this review because moving is not easy. Getting quotes, approvals from your building and finding a trust worthy company takes a lot of time and can be stressful. The company that you choose have a lot of responsibilities because they are in charge of your valuables. I can understand the pressure these guys are in, especially when They move items like piano or a really expensive painting. There’s a high liability involved. However, my wife and I were very pleased on how careful the team was. They’re attention and information on how certain items should be packed really surprised me because we had no idea on anything. This is our first time moving. When we first moved into the apartment two years ago, we bought everything brand new. We only had our suitcases when we came in.

If you’re looking for a reliable and reasonably priced company please do yourself a favor and contact Imperial Moving. The office staff is highly professional and will provide information that you may not even know you needed - which is very important.

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE! Please BEWARE when considering Imperial Moving, and if you read nothing past this sentence, do yourself a HUGE favor and choose a different moving company! Note that this review represents solely my opinion based on my experience. While nice people at first (to suck you in), I soon found Imperial Moving to be a bunch of con artists trying to get your money, with absolutely zero competence in moving or storage and no regard for the law. I am a licensed attorney, and I am currently considering filing a lawsuit against Imperial Moving for what, in my opinion, has amounted to nothing short of fraudulent inducement and fraudulent misrepresentation, along with extremely (i.e., way beyond the normal wear and tear) negligent handling of my items in my move from NY to FL. Now, these crooks will not even provide me with the signed bill and inventory from the delivery of my items -- in potential violation of both state and federal regulations. I am attempting to get reimbursed through the insurance process, but of course, Imperial Moving makes your life extremely difficult there too (with hurdles to jump through and, as mentioned, withholding key documents asked for in the claims process). PLEASE DO NOT BE FOOLED BY COMPETITIVE PRICING; their prices are low because their employees (having heard this firsthand from their movers and drivers) are underpaid and overworked, and Imperial Moving skimps on costs and charges hidden fees at every turn. An absolute nightmare once they get your money. I am not the first reviewer to say how bad Imperial Moving is, and I am sure I will not be the last. If anyone else is considering suing the company, I would be interested to know (I say this as a private citizen suing on my own behalf, and do not hold myself out as offering or rendering legal advice -- adding claims together could allow for suit against Imperial in federal court). To all prospective clients of this business, SAVE YOURSELF A HUGE NIGHTMARE OF WORKING WITH CROOKS AND LIARS AT THIS COMPANY INCLUDING RUSSELL MOHAMMED AND NATIA TSULEISKIRI. I sincerely regret not taking the time to do my research on this company in advance and just being attracted to their pricing, and I have tried to be as objective as possible under the circumstances in my review / with my opinions. I truly hope this prevents this from happening to at least a few others in the future.

Estimate - Charged me $1000 over the quote, NEVER got an invoice detailing why. Called customer service 6 before getting a call back.

Move - Movers FORGOT MY STUFF at my old place. Was not reimbursed for finishing the move myself even though that's what they TOLD me to do. They wanted me to sign something saying I would not write a bad review if I wanted the reimbursement. Of course they didn't tell me that when they told me to do it, only when I sent them the invoice to get my money back. The letter they sent actually said that taking the money meant I was satisfied with my move. WHAT?!?!? So you forget my stuff, don't call me back, I have to hire other people to finish, go out of my way and back to my old apt to supervise the 2nd move and you think I am going to say I was satisfied and not write bad reviews for $200?!?!?!? BAHAHAHAHAHA. When I told him that was unethical they didn't even bother to reply..

Packing - The packers don't close any open containers so be ready for your lotions, oils, soaps, and anything else that can leak to leak. They just throw them in a box. They don't even bother to stand them up straight. Since they sell you the packing materials they over wrap EVERYTHING and boxes are half full. They broke the edge of my big mirror. Guess they hoped I wouldn't notice and I had a brand new switchblade go missing..

Movers - They were pleasant enough but they ate the snacks I had laying around the house and drank about 6 cans of coke from my fridge without asking. They used the bathroom and left streaks on the toilet. Luckily I was moving out so I didn't care but I didn't let them use the bathroom in my new place.

Save yourself some agony and use anybody else.

Don’t trust them!
The salesperson Sarah was very nice and accommodating. She gave me a great price and answered all my detailed questions very professionally (the breakdown of the cost, how much they charge for each piece of furniture etc). I clarified five times that the price wouldn’t change the day of the move (as is done many times by companies) so she wrote in the contract “flat rate based on inventory” and assured me it wouldn’t change.
I called them a few days after they took my belongings (before they arrived) and asked to confirm that I only owe the second half of what we agreed upon (you pay half the day they pick up) and they told me I owed an additional $800! I asked why they said they’ll send me a breakdown, they never did! I told them don’t arrive until you explain to me why your overcharging me, they never sent me an explanation.
The day the movers arrived they wouldn’t unload until I paid them the extra money so they spent 4 hours in front of my house while the company (maya) tried figuring out how they got to the extra price and finally they said they’ll do me a “favor” and give me a discount of $400 so they’ll only overcharge me $400!
So dishonest! Don’t use them if you don’t want to get screwed over!!

DO NOT HIRE: WHEN THE MOVERS DEMAND EXTRA MONEY ON THE AT THE END OF THE MOVE, DO NOT PAY. ONLY PAY WHATS ON YOUR CONTRACT. I DID NOT PAY THE EXTRA THEY WERE DEMANDING AND THEY NEVER FOLLOWED UP ABOUT IT. THE OFFICE CONFIRMED THAT I ONLY OWED WHAT WAS ON THE CONTRACT.

After the job was completed the movers were DEMANDING hundreds of extra dollars. They told me they knew nothing of our contract or my sales rep in the Imperial office. I literally could not get them to leave my apartment unless I paid extra $$. After an hour of arguing I finally got them out. It got a little worrisome when I couldn’t get them to leave my apartment. The main guy was scribbling numbers and calculations of why I owed them extra and his sidekick was laughing in the corner. This was a beyond appalling and HORRIBLE experience with your company.

Needless to say the way they packed my boxes was sloppy and unorganized.

This was HIGHLY unprofessional and appalling.

Much like gyms subsist on folks with memberships that have more intention than will to go, Imperial Movers relies on under-staffing jobs so that they can charge more. For my late-March move, I was allocated 3 gentlemen to move from my storage unit into my one-bedroom apartment in an elevatored building. They were slow to get out of my storage unit, and the porter of the facility had to help. Once at my building, one guy disappeared. So as not to drag the move on forever and into additional $100s, I took his place. I believe he sat in the truck while the two dudes and myself busted ass, which was absurd. Their customer service was nil once they were paid, the salesman that locked in the "deal" was nowhere to be found after the transaction.This was not the experience I was looking for. I neither recommend nor will use this company again.

DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. THEY ARE SCAMMERS WHO WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY! I wish I could give them negative stars. Here's what happened: I got an initial quote from a guy named Daniel for $960 for my pack and move from NYC to CT. He told me via email that it was a FLAT RATE which included everything. I confirmed this with him several times. I also called and told them I had some items to be discarded and confirmed the small extra cost for that.

Flash forward to my move day, the movers come and are pissed they have to pack the apartment and dispose of those items because no one told them about that. Umm.. what? We didn't even have that much stuff and had packed most of our clothes already. When the move is finished, it's after the office is closed and the foreman tells me my TOTAL IS OVER $2700. The guys refuse to leave until I pay them that amount and I had a 2 month old baby so I needed these big scary dudes to leave. They told me we could call and "get a refund." Ok sure.

So I end up speaking with some horrible guy named Roy in their complaints department who offers me a $200 refund after accusing me several times of having "more stuff" which I certainly did not. What a joke. Eventually after numerous complaints to them and the BBB I get that offer raised to $600, but then he stops responding to my emails. They owe me over $1500 and refuse to even come close to that number.

I understand Daniel's quote was wrong from the beginning, but that is their problem, not mine. I am going to continue to fight this until I get my money back, because scamming a young family with a baby is effed up and we really need that money.

The quote for my move and pack was off by 50%. On the day of the move, only 50% of my belongings were moved to my new home. The sales associate was completely incompetent and had no idea how much time needed to be allotted. Thankfully I owned my residence for another few days so I could move the rest of my belongings. The response I got from customer service was completely disrespectful and appalling. They took ZERO responsibility for any issue I had. I have never had such an awful experience in my life and I live in NYC and move all the time. Under no circumstances should you use this company. Please don’t make the mistake I did.

Giovanni

I had a really complex move set up and thanks to the foreman Giovanni and his partner everything went smoothly. I was very impressed with Imperial movers because they quoted me fair rates and were incredibly fast at getting my certificate of insurance filled out on the spot. The customer service was responsive and professional. I highly recommend Giovanni to lead any job- big or small. He has the skills to manage a big team in a very relaxed yet efficient way. I was moving store fixtures which was more work than he was initially aware of but he never complained but rather excelled at the job. He arrived to the job early and stayed late. A very hard worker and an extremely valuable asset to the Imperial Moving Company. Overall a very wonderful experience. Thank you.

I have moved with movers 5 times now (several transatlantic for work), and while Imperial has great communication they have the worst execution and and followup of all my moves. The communication leading up to the move was great and the estimate was very accurate, the problem started day of. They were supposed to get to me between 3-4pm but arrived around 5:30 to begin. Nobody called me to inform me they would be late and their office (while online they say is open until 5pm, wasn't answering the phone at 4pm). A move is stressful enough without a company totally lacking in communication. When they got there they were quick and efficient moving things out and getting it on the truck. Once they were done left quickly packed up and left. It was dark and late (about 10pm) so I wasn't able to assess until the day after. In their rush they damaged the floors, a wall, and my bed frame. No representative reached out to me and my calls were not returned. I would not recommend using them, they are great leading up to a move, and the team was friendly, but communication was terrible and execution was poor.

DANGER -- do NOT use Imperial. Imperial DOES NOT HAVE INSURANCE, and I learned the hard way.They had people packing and moving who literally did not know how to tape a box, or pack fragile, for which I was paying and they advertised: very experienced, and family business. They were rolling my grandmother's antique wooden table on the sidewalk, with no padding, much less on a dolly. When I asked each packer how long they had been in US, and if they had experience: ZERO. The Team had all been movers for less than 2 weeks, except the Team Leader. Their employees have no experience, have been in the US for less than 2 weeks. Hired off a street corner and paid in cash. I am missing several items which never made it off the truck, they ruined a sofa, and after providing evidence and admitting it, they stated: We only cover $100. And they never even provided me with the $100. Vile. Dishonest. Scary people, scary packers who don't speak English and have nothing to lose by keeping your valuables on the truck, and driving away.

I recently just completed a move with this company. They came recommended so I thought I'd try them out. I had multiple legs of my move with this company and it was completed over serval days.

I had a move locally, within NYC. A second move out of the state. And then I stored some items in storage for about 2 months, which they had delivered back to my place in NY. I loved that they kept my items wrapped in storage the way they removed them from my apartment. This definitely set the bar because it shows they really do make an effort to care for your belongings. I didn't have this done in my previous experiences. Thank you Imperial!!

IMPERIAL MOVING & STORAGE moved last Friday, May 22, 2020.All was very smooth.

They came right on time (even a few minutes earlier). They carefully wrapped our stuff and took them down. Very easily brought them to our new place. They did not break anything, they were very kind and considerate, and we were very happy with them.

We definitely HIGHLY recommend this company. They were unexpectedly proper (unlike many other companies we experienced in the past).

STOLE MY THINGS AND MY MEDICATION I NEED TO SURVIVE! THEY HAVE MY THINGS AND WON'T RELEASE THEM! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

My medication is on the truck, I'm immunosuppressed and they won't bring me my things. I have texts showing they told me they would take care of bringing my things on the appropriate date (since they originally came too early) then..without my permission they unloaded my things, are trying to charge me a ton of fees, and will not give me any information about the location of my items.

They are keeping my items in storage to charge me more.

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. The front desk is totally unprofessional. The movers were OVER 2 hours late and never even called. We had to call the front desk 5 TIMES TO GET A HOLD OF SOMEONE. Finally she answers, won't give us the contact information of the movers, and says they will be late. She does not think to ask them HOW LATE. I am disgusted and disturbed. I've moved multiple times - the day before it's commonplace to receive a confirmation call and contact information to be used the day of the move. We received none of this so we are left leaving message after message to figure out what is going on. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

I work as a professional organizer in NYC/Hamptons/CT and have worked with this company for 6 years. They are always ready to accommodate special requests and are so friendly! As for their very Special moving Foreman ‘Doctor’ and his crew—- what can I say??!! He is amazing! A total professional. Understands a client’s needs, fantastic with packing antiques, and goes above the call of duty to make the client happy! I always ask for him and his top crew and they get the job done! He just did a move on a Saturday night that went til 10pm.!! So grateful! Always trustworthy and reliable too. Thank you Doctor and Imperial!! Love working with you!—.
