Miscommunication and damages

Miscommunications between coordinator caused helpers to arrive after I cancelled them. The coordinator insisted I pay at least an hour because he didn't listen long enough to understand what I was asking for. It should have been a simple request.

Movers on both sides of moves damaged items - get as much insurance as they allow.

The one plus, I was able to extend the time on short notice.

DO NOT HIRE HIRE-A-HELPER!

From the first phone call, they called to tell me they would be 3-hours late from our 8 AM appointment and then the "helpers" they told me that they expected a "$600 gratuity for this job." I hired them for four hours for $664.50. They were done in three hours but had misplaced a major piece of furniture for my bedroom set. When I asked where it was the lead "helper" and driver, told me that I had checked off on everything at the final walkthrough at the original location. I told him we never had a final walk through and we need to go back to see if this furniture was left behind. They told me they would have to charge me but reluctantly did go back - about 2 whole miles away. We got there and the furniture wasn't there. I came back to my apt and got the GM to look at the security footage. They had unloaded the furniture and went directly inside the building. After looking around the property we found it sitting outside the elevator on the 2nd floor - 3 hours later. I live on the 3rd floor. After being told several times they expected a $600 tip I reluctantly gave them $200, even when the furniture was still missing. I felt like an idiot for giving them anything and in afterthought I wish I hadn't. So NO, I'd never suggest HireAHelper to anyone. This company seems more like a criminal operation than a moving company - since they start grooming you for an exorbitant tip from the first phone call from the "helpers" they hire. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Home Load/Unload in Morrow, GA

The "Hire A Helper" team that made our load/unload was above awesome!

They called ahead with their itinerary for the day and arrived early within our scheduled time window. The team leader was very professional and planned their work flow as we initially went through the house to identify what was to be loaded and what was considered as fragile.

Before we knew it, the truck was loaded and all items were strapped down securely to our approval. The unload at the destination went just as well and we were very satisfied.

All members of the team were very courteous and respectful. We would highly recommend them and appreciate them making our move so much less stressful.

LONG DISTANCE MOVE FROM CALIFORNIA TO ARIZONA

I'm using PODS for my move. I used Hire-A-Helper for their loading services. Sergio, Diego and Caesar were OUTSTANDING! Professional, courteous and extremely thorough! Asked questions throughout the loading process. Master packers! Hire-A-Helper confirmed my appointment and sent reminders. I would not hesitate to recommend them. In fact, I've already arranged for unloading at my new home.

AVOID at all cost!

What a horrible experience using "HireAHelper" My wife and I used this site to find movers and I wish we went elsewhere. They put us in contact with Elite Moving Services, which ended in a horrible experience. Not only did Elite Moving Services show up over 2 hours late on the day of the move but one of the guys they sent refused and I can't stress that enough REFUSED to lift anything heavy. So YES, anything larger than a box the guy refused to put on the truck. We honestly thought we were on some reality show and a camera crew would jump out any minute. So Hire-A-Helper stating on their website that "we have the highest quality movers you can book anywhere online" is an absolute joke. Just look at the number of complaints they have against them on the Better Business Bureau website. Pay a little extra for qualified movers and save yourself the headache later.

Just be cautious using this site and book movers DIRECTLY because later if you try to make a claim with your credit company for "quality of service" it will be much more difficult to get your money back. Hopefully, this review will make some people think because Hire-A-Helper uses 3rd party unreliable movers and won't help you when things go wrong.

Horrible service, Horrible vendors and pathetic response

Never ever book this company if you love your peace. They have paid reviews on HireAHelper forum and are there for extorting money.

Writing this note to recount for traumatic experience for our move scheduled on 08/12. The workers were in no mood to work, didn't bring tool-boxes, passed snarky comments like "We are not going to assemble your bed since you are removing the bolts".

The biggest issue of bed disassembling and assembling took me 10 mins(my first time with a wrench) while they created a big fuss out of it without doing any actual work.

We booked HireAHelper for our convenience and it turned out to be the biggest stress in our transfer process.

Let me recount the experience in chronological order:

1. Crew arrival at 1:35 pm

2. On seeing the bed at 1:37pm, they straight away declared that they can't transfer the bed( Mood spoiler 1).

3. By 1:40pm, we requested to give it a try and they told us that they are not carrying the tool-box. Later they told that the basic tool-box is in the car.

4. By 1:50 pm, we went to society maintenance and provided them the wrench to disassemble the bed.

5. By 1:55 pm, he has managed to unscrew 1 bolt and told that he cant do others(Mood spoiler 2).

6. By 2:00 pm, I unscrewed 4 bolts while he is talking to his boss Sam. Please take note that not a single item has been moved from the elevator so far.

7. By 2:05 pm, a back and forth call with his manager Sam has started and they are waiting for the call to be finished rather than doing any actual work(Mood spoiler 3).

8. By 2:10 pm. we are frustrated by the negativity, lack of intent to do any actual work and snarky comments and told them to stop the service.

We did all the transfer by ourselves for the next few hours, broke our backs and on top of it your team informs that there is a cancellation charge.

Writing this note as the sequence of events and why this is the most disappointing service that I ever took. I dont know how big your company is or where the problem is in the system(Corporate/ Vendor/ Communication) but the end service that I got was beyond pathetic.

Helpers were good, management very bad

We hired to load, and, of course the cost was more than quoted because “the quoted company was not available”. Fine, paid the extra $50, they did a good job. Hired for unloading and the up sale was almost double the quote so canceled. Wife decided it was worth it to keep me from having a heart attack so rescheduled. Guys came, did a great job. Left after their two hours with job done, signed email to release money. About ten minutes later a guy calls to say they are on the way (2 hours late, work done, we only hired one team). Ended up talking to manager named Josh who accused me of lying and was so disrespectful. He decided we were on the hook for the second team and of course, they have your credit card numbers already. This “manager Josh was so disrespectful both my wife, who actually booked it and I hung up on him. I would hire both of the teams we had again. I would NEVER EVER recommend HireAHelper and would not recommend you give them your credit card info. Oh, we are disputing the charge but has left a terrible impression for this company.

Hire A Helper is the way to move

This is the 2nd time I have used this service and in New York I got 2 wonderful helpers who loaded a 24ft truck. we made it to Florida and on a Sunday I had 2 wonderful workers, I then moved a year later after I purchased a home and moved 2 blocks away and I had 2 amazing gentleman load and unload 2 times. I would recommend this over any moving company.

Bad compensation for their mistakes

I originally found good movers for a great price. But then when one of them got hurt, instead of getting me another company to replace them with no gimmicks, they made me pay the extra money the new company cost. They also only sent me the workers at 6 PM instead of 9 AM when i hired them, thereby losing me the whole day to unpack and get settled. I also had to hire this expensive company for 2 hours, even though I only needed one, because "that's how it's done here" whoop-de-doo so make an exception instead of messing me over worse than you already did!

Unethical company

My experience with Hire a Helper was so poor that I considered suing them and the moving company for extortion but it wasn’t worth the effort. A move of a two bedroom apt 20 miles away took over 12 hours because of an inept crew, unethical company and nothing more. Hire a helper did little to nothing to resolve this. While a law suit is not something I have the time or energy to pursue I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau and will make sure I tell my real estate agent and my entire network to avoid your organization at any cost.
