Long-distance move from Norwich, Norfolk to London, Greater London

Hamiltons Removals.

Hamiltons Removals provided a fantastic service and took much of the stress out of moving. They were helpful, co-operative, friendly, flexible, efficient, careful, punctual and professional and very competitive on price. Their packing service was great too and my belongings were well looked after in their storage facility. When my belongings were brought to my new home the guys were again hugely helpful and pleasant. They were still as helpful when collecting the empty boxes. I would highly recommend using them. An ace removal company!!

Long-distance move from Norwich, Norfolk to Ipswich, Suffolk

Awful experience.

Moved many times in recent years and this has to be the worst experience. As I was moving only a few miles I selected a local company. Big mistake. Clearly they underestimated the move starting with sending the wrong size of vehicle. Not a good start and my furniture was stacked up in the street until a suitable sized vehicle arrived. Took two days to move just 30 mins drive away, shockingly poor management but the guys who moved me did their best and were extremely pleasant. Some damage to goods also and I was offered the princely sum of £40 compensation for the damage and nothing for the two days it took to move from Norwich to Harleston. Before you go for the cheap quote be very careful and double check that they are able to supply all they promise, on let's face it, a very stressful time, or go for a more professional outfit. The office staff were excellent and tried their best but it's the management that are poor and were blaming their personnel for the sales directors poor estimate and organisation. Note below destination wasn't Ipswich but Harleston but drop down doesn't have that town!

Long-distance move from Norwich, Norfolk to Bournemouth, Dorset

Excellent Service from an Excellent Company.

We moved house at the end of August. Hamiltons were absolutely brilliant from the moment we chose them. Jay kept us informed of what was happening and the office staff were always very efficient. We moved house from a large property in Norfolk to a property in Dorset. The contents of our house did not fit into one lorry, but a trailer of equal size was used. The three guys who did the move on the first day worked tirelessly, to the extent that I was not able to keep up with them as they emptied each room. When we arrived in Dorset, they were on time and emptied the house as quickly as they packed it. However, this time there were only two guys. They worked incredibly well together as a team and we were very impressed with their thoroughness. We had an incredible amount of furniture and probably somewhere in excess of 150 boxes of goods. We have unpacked all but about five of them and we have not found one breakage. Some of our goods were incredibly delicate and we did not think that they would survive the journey, but they did and we are thrilled. Would definitely recommend Hamiltons over any over removals company; they are efficient, friendly, hardworking and cost-effective. We would definitely use them again. Thanks to you all for making our lengthy move an easy process!

Great Removal Companuy.

Lovely service all the way through from quote to the moving day.
Went above and beyond when it seemed like the whole chain would collapse.
The packers were polite and respectful. The moving day was extremely easy and the moving team knew what they were doing. Great bit of reversing into a really tight drive by Roy!
All in all I would definitely recommend Hamiltons Removals.

Smooth salesman dramatically downhill from there.

Using hamiltons was an expensive mistake. The service started of well with good sales pater from jay their salesman. Gave me a quote for 40 foot container to Abu dhabi, once the order was received the service started to go down hill.  Communication was awful, endless delays of which we were not informed. Escalating hotel bills, attitude of the company overtly implied that they were really not interested in the delivery of our goods.
Only redeeming feature is that the delivery company attheirs ends (writers) were good.

Long-distance move from London, Greater London to London, Greater London

Poor service from Hamiltons removals Norwich.

All was fine up to the point of return of my furniture from the week storage.  When it came back it was damaged, It was new only a month old, I had paid £67 for the insurance so I submitted the claim.  I then had to phone and phone and email and no joy. I went to Mr Bryan Sawyer managing director.  He said he would get back to me I phoned about 10 times over a period of time he was playing golf or something else.  He did not phone me back. I went to the insurance company as he said it had been passed to them They new nothing.  This started in Jully 12 it's now Feb 13 and I am still trying to chase it.  The damaged items cost £1349 he has been crap he is a very ignorant individual.  If you need help at this company ask for Julie she will help as much as she can. I had paid £120 to have my wardrobe dismantled by what they said would be a professional.   Young lad with a mullti tool to dismantle £3000 of wardrobe so I did it myself and asked for the money back he has agreed to pay me the money in Nov 12 I am still waiting. The way he has tried to get out of it. 1.  He said I put happy on the paper work, (you never check everything before they leave) I pointed this out and you have seven days on the form. I would never use them again mainly due to Brian Sawyer he is not helpfull and his behaviour has been disgusting if its the way way he works the company will not survive for long.  .

Long-distance move from London, Greater London to Edinburgh, Midlothian

Faultless team, superb move.

The surveyor Tony Smith arrived on time to carry out an extensive and in depth survey. He identified items of furniture that he felt required "export packing" - and he was bang on! Several choice pieces where later beautifully packaged. Tony took time and trouble to estimate just what was required. He inspired confidence.
We had a difficult house sale, and the completeion date was changed three times. Brian (Sawyer, Operations boss/director) and Tony were really understanding and accomodating - we felt bad at messing them about -but they took it all in their stride.
The packing / loading day came and the first team was spot on time..closely followed by another two with the 17 ton lorry. Mike and Paul, Steve and Henry worked their socks off that first day. The care and trouble taken was astounding..we've never seen so many reams of paper used. Most surprising of all was the carpet protector that was spread out over the main thoroughfares of the house - upstairs and down.. such thoughtfulness. They were clean, polite and a pleasure to have about, handling our home.
The next day was the removal day and Gordon and Henry (again) arrived - early! No problem, better that than late. They finished off the packing and then headed off up north - with our home! Were we sad? Yes, to leave our house. Worried about our home? No!
The arrival day, and Gordon & Henry rolled up bang on the dot - with our home - having spent the night on the A1, 2 1/2 hours away.
Down went the carpet protector again, and then they worked like no-ones business, with amazing good cheer and help ensuring that everything went just where we wanted it.
Having read the negative reviews, I just can't beleive we have used the same company..
Hamiltons was not the cheapest - but not the dearest either. We made a good choice, I have no doubt. You get what you pay for.

Look no further.

It was unusually difficult to choose a removal company as many review sites were patently misleading in the stilted 'excellent' reviews.
After 3 evaluations of our contents removal and 3 quotes, something vital was still missing. We were just unsatisfied despite all the right things being said by the sales people. Two quotes came in rather too high.
Time was quite short as we were moving within a week. A late call came through from Bishop's Move (working with Hamilton's) at around 4pm - Jay. I asked for an assessment between 8-9am the next morning, and a quote by the afternoon, as I needed to make a decision by then on who to go with.
Two very pleasant assessors were at our door in East London by 7.50am , having driven from Norwich, and the affordable quote phoned-in by 1330hrs - Jay. He was clear, sound, and very helpful in negotiations. We chose to go with them.
On moving day, two other men, Steve & Roy were there before 8.30am (agreed time, 9am). They worked at a mammoth, and impressive non-stop pace to move the four-bedroom content of our 2-bedroom flat into the huge truck, and deliver to Wolverhampton at the agreed time of 11am on time.
The quality of the work, and the integrity of the men totally blew my socks off. Literarily everything was well packed, labelled, unpacked in the appropriate rooms and without damage. Steve found an envelope containing £135 cash (gifts for my 8-month old daughter) in the study, that I had even forgotten about, and handed it over, ditto, satnav. At this point, all anxiety about missing items deserted me.
The unpacking was a wonder to behold too. They finished quite early, and announced that all was done. I deliberately went into their van, and saw the wardrobe packing boxes in the far corner and pointed at them. They just laughed, and said not only were they empty, but that all the clothes wer hanging in our new wardrobes.. and they were!
Extras - they fixed the washing machine connections, the sofa, the unusual sliding door (that I had no clue on how to open!), imparted some useful tips from their experiences with the Samsung Galaxy 3 and Note.
In summary, the work was Herculean, but Steve & Roy blitzed it with supreme competence, integrity, grace and pleasant humour. If there is a training programme for Removals wanabees, these guys from Hamiltons should be on the teaching faculty. .

Long-distance move from London, Greater London to Edinburgh, Midlothian

Crashed into my neighbours car.

Do not use this removal firm.

They were doing a job in SW6, London and upon turning into the road managed to crash into a parked car.

This caused serious damage and wrote the car off. Did they stop? No. They drove off. And it was only thanks to a passer by who took a photo and video that I am now managing to claim back from them. Although they are still denying anything that happend.

Please, for the sake of all honesty and integrity do not use Hamiltons.

Move in Central London.

Just used Hamiltons for the second time in 2 years and had another great experience. The team was efficient, quiet, extremely polite and respectful, something very important for a woman on her own. They are also very diplomatic fending off nosy neighbours on both ends of the move.
The 2 trucks arrived on time and the team of 4 set to work after an initial briefing. They never had to ask anything again and were totally on top of the complicated logistics, where some furniture moved and some furniture was being shipped abroad (and nothing was labelled by myself!)
Also hugely appreciated was Paul Lucas' effort to label all my kitchen boxes in both English and Portuguese so my Brazilian housekeeper could unpack the kitchen on the other end.
The day after the move they sent a truck to collect some of my boxes and that was also done punctually and efficiently.
I highly recommend using them.
