Long-distance move from Minnesota to Florida

Do Not Use This Company!!

This whole move process was a nightmare! My quote went from 891 to 1301 to 1501 and when all said and done was over 1800. And you have no choice but to pay it because they don't tell you all of this until it is moving day and there's no way that you can schedule someone else on that short of notice. I had 2 missing boxes, filled out the claims form and hear not a single word back. One truck driver tells me that they will be coming to florida with a smaller truck so when they showed up with the 18 wheeler they could not get within the 75 feet of my door. The mover then proceeded to just drop my belongings in the entrance of my 400 unit complex so anyone could just take my stuff as I tried to bring it to my home. Daniel did finally talk the driver into taking my belongings to my home (after I had already move 80% of it myself and being screamed at by the driver). Almost every single one my my plastic totes was busted to pieces. They told me to put in the paperwork that I need delivered ASAP. They consider ASAP 2 weeks later so we were sitting in the house on lawn chairs and sleeping on air mattresses that I had to go and purchase. No pans no nothing. But they don't care they already got your money so they are in no hurry!! THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE AND I WISH I WOULD HAVE LISTENED TO ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS BEFORE I WENT AHEAD AND USED THEM!! I have already stopped 2 people from using them in the nexgt year for their big moves and I will continue to tell everyone that I come across that this company doesn't care, they just want the money. .

Long-distance move from Wisconsin to Florida

Worst Company ever!! CONS artists.

Just like every other person on here that doesn't work for this company.. I had the most MISERABLE, STRESSFUL, and EXPENSIVE experience. I completely REGRET having these scam artists do my MOVE. I would have been better off renting a U-Haul and driving that across the country for what they scammed out of me. The day of my move, they showed up and demanded an extra $1,000!! since I no longer had the option of looking for anyone else, I was FORCED to use them. ..just like the other posters..I was LIED TO .. they were callous and made derogatory remarks to me over the phone as well as screamed over the top of me. Since I was already in another state I had no choice but to use them. They are liars and thieves at best.  PLEASE listen to what EVERYONE is saying and go somewhere else. The sales person is all sweet until he gets his claws into your checkbook. They will be charging you for your "FREE storage". Then they start racking up hidden fees and making up stuff to make more $$.  They promise you your things in 7 days.. TRY 15 days! No phone call as to when they would be there, no professionalism.. I missed days of work because the  sales guy kept quoting me different days when they would be here.. no one called to tell me when they were going to be here ether.. ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY!! I HATE this company.. and obviously so do at least 152 other people who filed claims with the BETTER BUISNESS beaureu. These people are frauds and will destroy your property and make moving..which is already a stressful experience..absolutely MISERABLE.

Local move within Illinois

Just disappointed.

I would like to start out by saying I rarely write reviews. I do not believe in bad mouthing anyone unless their actions are grossly negligent, disgusting, and disrespectful to the customer.

I hired EZ because their pricing was very competitive and they were able to accommodate my move date and time. On the morning of they showed up to our first of three locations. The transaction started off friendly, and I was happy.

About an hour into the move one of the movers grabbed a 5x7 rug which was rolled and wrapped in a plastic bag through it over his shoulder and on the way out the door uncaringly hit a multi-tier shelving unit. This shelving unit housed antiques and sculptures. Several items fell crashing to the floor, two of which were antique Chinese plates that my grandmother bought in the 60's at the Miami trade show. These plates were over 100 years old and now shattered. The plates were displayed on two thick glass blocks, and as they hit the floor, the plates and stands damaged the floors. My mother was in tears about the plates and the negligence of the movers. The movers and I documented the incident, and we had no choice but to continue.

The driver came to me about 45 min later saying they were done, and their dispatch is requiring full payment before leaving the first location.(keep in mind we had two other stops) In business people/business get paid AFTER the job is done not before or during. You wouldn't pay a plumber before he finished the work would you? Anyways I refused and it took an hour to get a manager on the phone, we spoke for all of 60 seconds (if that). "if you don't pay they are not leaving" the manager said, I said; "Ok tell them to unload the truck and please leave" They were afraid because of the damaged caused by their movers I wouldn't pay.

The move was on a Sunday, and their office wasn't open, so we had to wait until Monday to file a report. I called once a day for three days and never got a call back (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). Finally, a gentleman answered on Wednesday, and boy was he rude!! The gentleman was screaming and yelling, telling me I was a piece of this and that.. I didn't give them a chance reach out etc.. I finally submitted the report and called back once a week to check the progress from EZ end. Each week I would hear; "we are still working on it and will have an answer next week." After week three we explained there was no reason this should take so long, and we felt they were dodging us and not going to live up to their responsibility. I explained our attorney would be handling things going forward and I am sorry it came to this..

OH BOY did the owner, not like this response; I called back to ask for their attorney info, and he answered. In that thick Israeli(I am israeli and my sister is in the IDF) accent started screaming and calling me names. This was three weeks ago and now they have decided to tell my attorney we should sue them instead of making good and fixing the problem.

Is this someone you really want to do business with? I have pictures and if there was a way for me to post them for you to see the horrible damage they created I would! I urge you think twice before getting into bed with EZ Movers.

Long-distance move from Minnesota to Florida

Deceitful Quote.

I was quoted & billed $3,800 to move my household items to Florida from Minnesota. On the day we arranged for EZ-Movers to pickup. Which was the same day our apartment lease was up. The driver walked around and looked at our furnishings. He said he wanted $20,000 or he was driving away. I couldn't believe it! I said wait a minute. I'm going to get my girl friend and bring her to you. (The driver) The driver. (Abraham) said he made a mistake in his calculation. He said give him $15,000. I was livid. He then said, we'll give me $12,700 or he's driving away. My girl friend immediately called Abraham's boss Steve. They went back and forth and Steve said pay $11,700 or he was going to tell Abraham to drive away. We had no choice. Abraham said our household items would be in Florida the next week. So we drove down by car to meet up with our belongings. EZ Movers did not deliver to us for 18 days. Besides this. Over 60 household items were damaged and a brand new radio control truck that cost me $400 was the only item lost or stolen. I believe the driver stole it. EZ Movers would not pay us ANYTHING for damage and would not even acknowledge the missing $400 truck. I filed with the Illinois Attorney General and the Illinois BBS. Neither did ANYTHING to help. They are both worthless organizations that go thru the motions. Both admit they are powerless. What are they there for. I believe that EZ Movers con every customer in their deceitful practices. DO NOT hire this company. Most likely you will be there next victim.

Long-distance move from Michigan to Virginia

If I could give 0 stars I would. Stay away!

Stay away from E-Z Movers from Skokie, IL. The quote did not match the total cost they demanded. I paid almost 60% more than the quote was for a job that was way below any quality.

Pick-up was scheduled to be on Tuesday. On Saturday they called me that they will come to pickup my stuff the next day (Sunday). Well, I was out of country, so they left me a message. And yes, they came on Sunday, two days earlier then scheduled. Apparently the truck was just leaving, and the next available would be in 10 days (why then took them 13 days to drive from MI to VA, I have no idea, maybe they went through Mexico).

When the driver arrived he told me it will be extra for long distance form apartment door to the truck, plus they said I had more stuff than on the quote. It totaled in extra 30% from what was on the quote. When I tipped the driver he said it was not enough and wanted more (for two hours of loading they demanded more than my daily wage!)

The reason why they came for pick-up early was that the truck was leaving to Virginia that day. Well, I do not think so. My goods did not arrive until 13 days later. After waiting and waiting, few phone calls and emails, they finally called me on the evening that they will come the next day at 9am. So I had to take emergency day off from new job. By noon that day I called them a few times and every time they had an excuse for being late. Eventually they claimed that the truck has broken down, and they will not be able to come that day, but they will be the next day at 7am (another day off new job!). Eventually they showed up at 9am, and first thing they said was that they cannot park the semi there so they will need to use a shuttle truck, for which, of course, they will charge me another 30% of the initial quote (later the landlord said that it would be okay to park the semi to unload, others do it often). At this time I did not oppose, I just wanted my stuff!

In the end three pieces of furniture were broken, and a small step ladder never made it to my new home. I was finally paid for broken furniture, but after involving the BBB.

To sum up: it would be cheaper, easier, faster and MUCH less stressful to rent a truck myself and drive from MI to VA (even if it was in the middle of winter)!

Long-distance move from Illinois to Maryland

The WORST company ever, period.

Well, I will add my voice to the hundreds out there, this is the absolute company [of any kind] that I had to deal with. Bunch of liars and scammers especially Brain Ross. I would've paid extra and hire a professional company that treat its customers well and honor it's commitments. Notice that in their website they're showing only 5-star ratings, yeah that's believable! To show that they're only after profits, they have their drivers hire helpers from the streets and pay them cash, so you can get a convict, a rapist, or a serial killer as your muscle man. When they finally delivered my goods 4 days late, the driver had told me that he hired his three helpers from Baltimore and guess what, they were DRUG ADDICTS [between breaks, they were smoking pot in the car]. How professional is that? So I clearly didn't feel comfortable having these guys unwrap everything even though I paid for it. To make matters worst, I paid a surcharge to get the truck weighed before and after the loading, guess what, it wasn't done and contacted crooked Brian countless times and the company but nothing was done. So they finally decided to weigh a random truck after I filed a BBB complaint, what an awful company this is, unbelievable. I filed a claim for a broken cordless vacuum and I got about $15.00 to replace it, yes because they a bunch of crooks and I later found out that couple of items are MISSING, completely. To make matters worst, they never admit mistakes and take responsibility they just LIE and LIE and LIE. This is an advise to every one needing a move, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY, YOU'LL REGRET IT, PAY MORE AND BE TREATED LIKE A CUSTOMER.

Terrible Experience - Items Stolen.

Do NOT use EZ Movers. We paid $1300 for them to move us and ended up losing thousands of dollars more in valuables that will never be replaced. The manager, Steven, hung up on me after I tried to discuss with him. They did not return one of the 6 calls I was told I'd receive over a week and has since accused me of lying about 6 boxes being missing. Terrible business.

Due to moving on one of the busiest days in Chicago and calling almost 10 companies before this one, we went with EZ Movers despite the many negative reviews. We needed help moving our stuff and didn't know what else to do.

Even if you're in a similar situation, do NOT use this company. Listen to the reviews.

SIX BOXES full of our valuables were stolen during the move due to the negligence of the movers. The truck was parked in an alley in Chicago, and the movers did not find it necessary to watch the truck filled with our valuables and left it unlocked with all doors wide open. When finished, the movers spent about 15 minutes looking for a missing dolly. Hmmm..that's interesting..where did the dolly go? And what else could possibly be missing? Due to the movers not counting the number of boxes we had, how could we know.

We did not realize items were missing until we began unpacking after they had left, and apparently at that point, according to EZ Movers, they are no longer liable if you realize anything is missing after they have left.

Now, the best part of all is that Steven, their manager, is saying that he doesn't believe me and thinks I'm lying about boxes full of our valuables being missing. Why would I choose to call repeatedly and get ignored and yelled at unless I actually wanted to find a resolution to this unfortunate reality?

Don't put yourself in a position to end up like us. Extremely upset about your belongings being stolen. Now having to deal with a company who is not interested in remedying the situation at all.

Moving in itself is stressful enough. Stay away from EZ Movers.

Long-distance move from West Bloomfield, MI to Palo Alto, CA

RUDE DRIVER and Terrible Service.

Do not hire this company. The driver contracted to drop off our stuff yelled and screamed at us over the phone because he took the wrong route and is over the weight limit. We later learned that his truck broke down - my assessment - his truck broke down and he is trying to get us to cover the costs. Since when is a customer responsible for mapping out the right truck route??

Long-distance move from California to North Carolina

Not "E-Z" At All. Not handled "lightly as a feather". Crooks. Thieves.

Not "E-Z" At All. My belongings were not handled "as lightly as a feather". They're a bunch of crooked, dishonest thieves who will waste your time and money and will damage or lose your belongings.

E-Z Movers ranks as probably one of the worst moving companies I've ever dealt with, and I've done a lot of moves (over 10 in the last decade). Generally, I've noticed that most movers are already pretty bad, but this one was on the lower end of the "bad" spectrum.

E-Z movers ended up charging me an additional $2,000 (TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS) over their original quoted price (which was already $5K!). That's an additional 40% of the original quoted price. Honestly, I've NEVER dealt with a moving company that insists on charging you extra because they cannot fit THEIR vehicle onto your property. My move was multi-part, and this happened at almost all locations. Never was I warned of this beforehand either. Instead, I was forced to pay the extra $2K so they could rent another truck that would actually fit onto the street or into my apartment's parking lot. Um, wasn't it THEIR responsibility to take care of this out of the $5,000 I already paid them?? I felt like my things were being held hostage by the drivers unless I paid them the ransom!

Secondly, they were LATE to deliver my things. I had just started my new job, and the late delivery interfered with my work schedule. Here I was waiting around for my things for ONE WHOLE MONTH. I moved to my new apartment May 1st and was ready for my things at any time during the month of May. Instead, they come on June 5th! And to add insult to injury, I had called them 2-3 times before that to ask for an update, and they were LESS than helpful. No communication with the dispatcher, no specifics given to me, and not even any reassurance that they were going to be on time. Sure enough, my suspicions were confirmed, and they were late.

Third, the movers at my pickup location were incredibly rude. I tried to tell them which items were deceptively heavy and fragile, and to be careful. All I got was a grimace and "I know" or something to that effect. Next thing I know, I stand with jaw agape while one of them literally rolls my aquarium stand up the ramp into the truck. What were they thinking?? Too late for me to say anything. That's a two-person job, guys! Just ask your helper to help carry it up. There are two of you. Simple as that!

Finally, when all was said and done, all of my furniture was damaged, completely scratched up, or otherwise lost altogether. My aquarium tank bottom fell out, my nightstands were irreparably crushed, my lampshades broken, my glass lamps scratched, and my screws and small items lost. I've estimated close to $1,000 in damages or losses. And while I haven't filed a claim yet (because of a technical error on THEIR END that doesn't allow me to add items to the claim form), I can pretty much bet I'd be lucky to get 20% of the total value since they only provide $0.30 to $0.60 per pound of insurance.

Want to waste a LOT of TIME and MONEY, and want your belongings to be RUINED or LOST? I didn't think so. "E-Z does it" and AVOID E-Z movers at all costs!

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Louisville, KY

Hidden fees.

They quoted us $2400 but then when the movers arrived the price suddenly is $1000 more but I assume this will be the end of the surprise charges. The delivery is suppose to happen 4 days later since I'm only moving 4 hours away but no it takes the full 10 days! On delivery day, they need an additional $511 when I paid in full already. Of course, the dispatcher knows nothing.
