Long-distance move from Illinois to Tennessee

Awful moving experience.

We had an awful moving experience with Best Price Moving & Storage.
They're very communicative during the up front process (courting you to choose them). When moving day came (and they had received all the monetary deposits), communication ceased.
Delivery at our new address: 4 hours late. Driver called and said that he and his team slept in. Funny thing is, he called just before 8am, the scheduled time. Said they'd be a little late. Didn't arrive until noon. He said their hotel was 20 minutes away. By the look and smell of them, they didn't take those 4 long hours to shower and prepare for the day. And the "team"; ..it was the driver and one other gentleman. Very short-staffed for such a large move.We ended having to help them unpack and move many items.
Once they finally arrived and began unpacking, they noticed that the truck was ill-packed; most noticeably, our TV (that was packed in it's original packaging) was strapped sideways to the load. We had an unbelievable amount of damage. Entire boxes of glassware/china were demolished. The delivery driver asked us, "did you tip the packing team?" thinking that we mustn't have because so many items were broken. Unbelievable. And yes, we did tip the packers.
Calls and emails to their office team went unanswered. They deferred all responsibility. Absolutely awful experience.
Out of all the damage, we're receiving $120. Slap in the face. Never again.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Denver, CO

Rude, damaged furniture and extorted us for money with FALSE claims!

Best Price Moving & Storage was booked via Gold Standard Relocation (GSR) on December 24th. I was told by GSR that Best Price would 1) make a 2nd delivery at a storage unit a few miles from my new house and 2) would not charge me any additional fees for unloading at my house, given that I live on a quiet residential street where large moving trucks are allowed. On January 15th, I was told by Best Price they would not make a 2nd stop! Best Price picked up my goods Wednesday, January 16th as planned.

On Friday, January 18th, Best Price contacted me and said they MIGHT have to charge me another $400 upon delivery if their truck could not access the house. I said there will be no issues with the truck parking in front of our house and large moving trucks can access our street from several directions. I called Gold Standard and was assured if the truck can park in front of the house, then there should not be any additional charges. At this point I did NOT agree to the extra charges with Best Price, and continued to state there would be no issues accessing the house as it's on a wide, residential street.

On Saturday, January 19th, the movers and stated they HAD to move my belongings into a smaller truck, without even seeing the street. Then later, they said there was a 'no trucks' sign and their original truck would not fit. This is false, I have photos of our house, and the sign directly in front of it, there are no signs about "No Trucks" anywhere on our street.

Furthermore, many large moving trucks have used this exact street before, so this was not an issue any other mover ever had. They simply wanted more money and even tried to send us a photo showing a 'no trucks' sign; but this sign is nowhere to be found on our street. In fact it's several streets away and a large moving van could easily access our street.

Also, they said if we didn't pay the extra $400, they would start charging us $100 per hour for a 'waiting fee' until we agreed to pay them. This is extortion! To top it off, they damaged my desk and dresser, the latter is nearly unusable now. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!

Long-distance move from Carol Stream, IL to Henderson, NV

The worst move.

I trusted Charter Van Line to help us move from different state. They hired a 3rd company and they lost of boxes and charged us extra during the delivery. I called for a month daily- Charter Van Line did not help me get my missing boxes back or reimbursed me for the extra charge caused by the 3rd party. This was the worst decision we made when we decide to let Charter van line help us. The worst company and I would never hire them again for my future move. Constant calls to them and at the end they told me file a complaint. Seriously!? To this day, I have not received a call or an email with an apology or offer of an reimbursement. The worst COMPANY EVER! Do not use them.

Worst Joke Ever.

I STRONGLY suggest you read all these reviews before selecting this company.  These people are not lying.  This company is beyond the worst nightmare you could ever have. I paid $5000.00 for them to destroy it all.  All I can now BP is KARMA.  Not only do they not accept phones calls, they don't return them either. I left many message for the Dispatcher Mary.  She is so unprofessional that she doesn't even bother.  Then there is the fact that it took them 21 days to deliver my stuff and didn't care that I had to sleep on a cement floor.  When they did bring my stuff, most apprx (70%) was broken, damaged, dented, dinged and missing. Then they offered $378.00 to me and demanded that I never speak of it again to anyone.  Sorry Best Price but you people need to be run out of town.

Long-distance move from Illinois to North Carolina

Still Waiting On Delivery..

Friends of mine spent many months raising money to be able to move from Illinois to North Carolina, only to be hooked up with this company. The husband fell during the move and ended up in the hospital for 4 weeks; the wife also ended up in the hospital for several days after blacking out while driving which was attributed to stress. This moving company upped the price, and wanted $7000 to deliver. All they had was $5000, but the company refused to deliver unless they would pay the whole thing and is threatening to auction off all of their worldly goods instead of delivering, plus they are also threatening to charge them for "storing" it!! Can you believe that? This couple has been unable to work for these 3 months as they have been involved in this move and unexpected hospitalizations so there is no income to pay for all this increase the company has slapped on them. Everything they own is being held hostage by this company!! It doesn't take much brains to realize that this is just NOT RIGHT!!

Avoid Best Price Moving.

IF YOU READ THIS, RUN FROM BEST PRICE MOVING AND STORAGE. DO NOT WALK, RUN, unless of course you want to pay more than all other quotes in the end.

Received "Binding" quote. It was a good quote. Movers came, loaded, and stated there were 165 total pieces after they loaded the truck. Impossible to argue unless wanted them to unload everything and count which is not realistic unless want things broken upon reloading as the movers would not be happy.

Received final paperwork at end. I had to pay remainder of balance before they would unload off truck. The paperwork showed 65 items (the line item started at number 110). At this point, unless I wanted to wait for who knows how long to receive my items, I had to pay. I figured I could have it resolved afterwards and paid the balance in order to receive my stuff that day and not have to worry about it being mishandled due to frustrated movers.

Afterwards, when I tried to reach my representative on multiple days, his colleagues continuously informed me he was always out of the office when I called. I thought this was unusual as I was always able to reach him easily before I committed by making my down payment. I sent multiple emails as well and have yet to receive a response. This was approximately 45 days ago.

My representative's name was David Carter. He appeared to be a very nice ethical man on the phone. The end result was the move cost me approx. $1000 more than it would have cost with other movers I spoke to.

Below are two emails I sent to Mr. David Carter, the last one sent November 7, 2015. I have yet to hear back (phone or email):

1. David, Attached are the two pages I received from the movers. As you will see, it looks like the movers started at line 110 when quoting 165 items. It appears the original "binding" quote of $1800 should have been the correct amount (also attached). Seeing as I paid $2950, it appears we are due a refund of $1150. Look forward to hearing from you.

2. David, I chose to go with Best Price because you convinced me that Best Price was ethical and honest and that the negative comments I read were not representative of the majority of customer experiences. I have tried to reach out to you (email and phone) on multiple occasions as well as contact customer service. When I call, they tell me you are out of the office. I have yet to receive a response from you or Customer Service regarding my concern for final billing. Reaching you before I committed to Best Price was not a problem and all of a sudden it is. This does not seem right.

Stolen ad broken itens.

This comany broke new things on the day they were loading the truck. They added charges which is different than what the contract said. Then they would hold items hostage. Much lying and am missing a box with over 70 dvd/blu ray movies . they broke the handle to my safe. I have filed a claim with the BBB and am expecting a response soon. If I do not get a response soon will contact the BBB and refile. I estimate fore broken and undelivered goods etc they owe us about $3000. Do not use them they will also leave a mess outside by where the truck was parked of packing materials and other garbage and takes many stinking smoke breaks.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to New Orleans, LA

Best Price Movers.

I recently moved from Chicago to New Orleans. The setup on the front end with North Star Van Lines was wonderful, as were the gentlemen from Best Price Movers on the Chicago end. In fact, I've never been so impressed by a moving company. Until we got to Louisiana.

First of all, the driver was messaging me asking if there was room for a full semi trailer. This is not my job, nor did it matter whether there was room or not, as you will soon see. Secondly, he turned up at the wrong address and said he had arrived. Thirdly, they arrived three days after the 2-10 day delivery window. If these had been the only problems I would have given it a pass. However, they then told me that they were not able to access my street with a semi truck, and charged me $200 to rent a Uhaul and drive to my place.

I understand that it was in my contract that if a semi was not able to reach my home, I might be charged $200 to move the load into a smaller truck to get it there. That seemed very reasonable when I read it. They took advantage of that clause:

1) The street I live on is about 21' wide. This is not a curb to curb measurement, it is the width between parked cars on the North and South side of the street. There is room for a semi and a lane for traffic to get past it.

2)You turn onto this road from a boulevard with two lanes in either direction. If you can't get a semi onto this street, then there is no reason to expect one to fit on any residential street.

3) The $200 I spent went to getting a 10' Uhaul Truck. I can currently rent a 10' Uhaul Truck for a day in New Orleans for $19.95.

If that's not enough, the dispatcher was rude and callous to me, and I'm afraid to say that made me rude and callous back. I explained to him that I had just had my wallet stolen, that my accounts had been frozen and I did not have access to the additional $200 cash with no notice. Why had they not checked if there was room for a semi prior to bringing one down? Was there any way he could please bill me for the new amount at a later date? He accused me of trying to trick the moving company out of their money and as a result I was required to beg for a loan from my brand new neighbors in order to get my things, or be charged additionally for public storage. There is even a police report number to verify that I am a victim of theft, and he still forced me to have cash in hand or he wouldn't deliver my things.

To top it all off, when my things arrived an item was missing. The drivers were able to locate it and drop it off later, but it was the cherry on top of a very poorly run day.

Because of the way moving companies broker things out, I'm not even sure what company I was working with at that point. When first contacted, I was with Legacy Movers. The estimate I signed was with North Star Van Lines, and the company in Chicago I signed my contract with was Best Price Movers. So avoid all of these?
