Extremely non professional

27 mile. 30 minute drive. Fine packing ( used 6 moving blankets and taped around the furniture). HOWEVER, demanded a 20% tip. I refused. Hell no very UNPROFESSIONAL People don’t demand what the tip is. Extremely poor character!

Worst movers we've ever worked with.

If you're looking for movers who specialize in watching you work while they provide stellar background "entertainment," look no further! This crew is masterful at whining, phone-scrolling, and sneaking cigarette breaks, all while managing to avoid moving anything themselves. The few boxes they did pack? A delightful surprise—shattered items from every room thrown together like a chaotic scavenger hunt. Bubble wrap or paper? Never heard of it! New sofa cushions? Straight to the floor of the van, unwrapped of course! Curious where the closest available UHaul location is? You'll find it when you have to rent a last minute truck to do the move yourself. Oh, and they’ll leave early, half-finished, after pestering you for a tip. Hands down, the worst movers we've had in 5 NYC moves. Please, do yourself a favor and either do it yourself for free or use truly any other company.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Tennessee

Extremely Dissatisfied - Rip-Off

I recently hired Dumbo Moving Company for a move from my one-bedroom apartment and had a truly frustrating experience. Initially, I was quoted a binding price . However, just before the move, the quote increased due to additional boxes for TVs and monitors. Despite this, the movers didn’t provide the promised monitor boxes and used flimsy cardboard ones, which was unacceptable for protecting my items.

The day of the move was chaotic. The truck was loaded poorly and ran out of space, leading to an unexpected extra charge. Despite paying an additional , the movers still couldn’t fit everything and left several items behind, including my bed and mattress, which they then hastily reloaded, claiming it was a favor.

Several essential items were damaged or left behind, including:

To top it all off, I was pressured into giving a $1,000 tip, despite the poor service and additional costs. In the end, the move cost me around three times the original quote. I’m extremely dissatisfied with the service and recommend avoiding Dumbo Moving Company.

Don’t be Dumb - bypass Dumbo Moving & Storage

My experience with Dumbo was a nightmare - the movers asked for a $600 tip before even moving anything and sales manager Dan said he’d give me a partial refund for all the trouble caused by the movers - including tearing the material on two new pieces of furniture.

Dan posted the “refund” to my bank account - and then took it back before it could go through. They’re scammers!

Be aware: stuff stolen and price up-charged.

I was moving from Astoria to Riverdale. When I called Dumbo, they gave me a reasonable price that included moving up to 25 boxes plus small furniture and a few bags. The movers were at the door on time, but when they saw my stuff they immediately up-charged me, saying I had more boxes (25) as opposed to what I was charged for originally. Further, they "informed" me of a 20% tip. I had no choice: it was the 1st of the month and I had to move, so I went with it. And it really could be the end of the story - the movers seemed nice and I signed and paid what they asked, the whole move took less than 2 hours - BUT..once I started unpacking I discovered I was missing jewelry and clothes (more missing stuff may be discovered later). The movers were male, so I think they just randomly took a bag (I had small bags within big bags). The other possibility is that the bag fell out of the van.., someone else stole it from an unlocked van (why would a mover leave a unlocked van though?), or..things miraculously vanished into thin air.
I didn't discover the loss right away, since I was unpacking all month long, while doing repairs in my new place. When I did, I contacted DUMBO and they reimbursed the charge for the extra boxes the movers made me pay ($70). But they refused to look for my stuff, bc I did not remember if it was in a bag or in a box - they said they could not waste their resources! (peculiar response to say the least).
I don't want them to waste resources indeed. I just want the other potential customers to be aware of shady unprofessional movers who up-charge, demand huge tips before the work is even done and ..fail to deliver your belongings intact. Read this and be prepared to turn them around if they ask for money you don't owe them. And discuss all these potential issues with the rep preferably via email before you move.

Best move ever.

Marko and his team were outstanding. They were more efficient than I've ever seen movers, were strong, pleasant, and got the job done without issue. There were no hidden costs and I will definitely use them when I move in another year. I have recommended Dumbo to all my friends and family.

Dumbo Moving and Storage.

We had a terrible experience with Dumbo Moving and Storage.  They stored our items for almost a year and then lost about half of our things --furniture, heirlooms,  wedding photos, baby items.  Customer service has been non-existent.  We even offered to come look for our things ourselves, but they didn't even respond to the offer.  Were our things lost? stolen? who knows? we haven't received any explanation.  We took a real financial hit here, but the worst part is the loss of so many personal, sentimental items -- things we can't ever replace. Don't use this company if you care about your things, because they don't.
