Long-distance move from Athens, GA to Racine, WI

DO NOT HIRE

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES HIRE THIS DISCUSTING COMPANY. Hired to move us from Georgia to Wisconsin on July 20, 2021. Truck broken can’t come till next day. Next day, truck still broken. Next day truck still broken. This is a 3,600 sq. ft. house that needs to be packed and moved. Suppose to arrive Tuesday, arrived Thursday after 3:30 after moving someone else. All of our things thrown in boxes, no paper wrapping. They were told NOT to touch anything on the fireplace mantel, they packed it all. My jewelry and medications are still buried in a box. Finished the next day AFTER we closed and no longer owned the house. Then they had to load truck. I had to hire some neighborhood kids to help load. Truck then went to a warehouse somewhere in Georgia for over 2 months. Daily I begged for my things to be delivered. All I got was a run around, excuses and rudeness. When things finally arrived there were all sorts of extra charges of course all in CASH. Total move was just under $30,000 for 800 miles. I have a number of rare 1960’s lucite chairs, DESTROYED. Tried to put in an insurance claim. IMPOSSIBLE. The insurance company makes it impossible to file a claim. First they make you download an unknown browser on your computer then there are all sorts of rules on filing. It’s a SCAM. Do not hire this company. I am very doubtful of the positive reviews of this company.

Long-distance move from Florida to Kentucky

Delivery

Low ball estimate and demanded more after furniture was on the truck. Left furniture behind. Fail to delivery in 2-6 days as initially quoted. After 3 weeks, no furniture and no delivery date. Was told furniture would not change trucks and would be delivered by same drivers and was not. Furniture is now in storage (they claim) and would eventually be delivered. They filled in forms after signature and no time to review the paperwork. Added charges after quote for stairs/elevator to increase price.

All did Well!

I am so glad that I hired Direct Relocation Services. The staffs were friendly and helpful. They were very fast to respond to all the questions I had. Their collection and delivery system was too good. They were careful at their work. Finally, their payment matched with their original quote. Their pricing was very reasonable. Best wishes to you guys.

Good job

I can't honestly express how much these guys saved me! They were thoughtful, kind, and patient - moving from the 24th-floor of a condo to a detached townhome was no picnic. They put everything everywhere I asked and even helped me with some extra bits that I thought I would have to do by myself. They were also courteous. All in all, I'd recommend them - peace of mind worth the price.

Long-distance move from Elk City, KS to Ballwin, MO

All did well

The crew was very considerate, efficient, and thorough: Donald, and Edward were highly coordinated on the moves out and in. Donald worked with the HOA to get them the appropriate paperwork and insurance information. As I said, this takes the stress off. Lee started this business a few years ago. Since our first move, it has grown a little but has not lost that personal touch that made us come back.

Long-distance move from Miami, FL to Philadelphia, PA

No delivery time, 6 weeks+

I was mislead by Google reviews and wish I had read Yelp and the BBB complaints. Do yourself a favor, book someone else if you care about your stuff or need it to live in your new place. I rarely write reviews and I hate conflict, but this has been a wildly terrible experience. If just ONE person avoids this company after reading this, I'll have considered myself a service to others.

I am a little scared to write this because other reviews have indicated that they've been harassed for bad reviews and I'm worried it will be taken out on my possessions which I still don't have--6 weeks and counting. At this rate, I'm not sure I'll get them at all so I might as well share.

I signed with DRS for a move from Miami, FL to Philadelphia, PA on April 12th. They picked up my one bedroom apartment, with minimal furniture, on April 17th. It remained in storage for one month for free and I paid for additional storage hosting until June 3, 2022. My total moving estimate was $1810.00, which was cheaper than other quotes received and I was pleased with their professional communication, friendliness and the discount. The initial move felt seamless. I was in contact with them in May to let them know my date for delivery availability which was June 3rd. I am now entering the 6th week without a bed, without kitchen supplies, medicine, study books, my work monitor, pictures and memories, important paperwork, a bulk of my wardrobe and other belongings.

I have been extremely communicative, patient and amicable through out the process. And I will say, no one has been super rude yet. Sharing several emails and calls with the customer service supervisor, Maria Gonzalez, and recently the general manager Andrew Duffek. Nobody has been able to provide any estimate of when I will receive my things at all and Andrew let me know that because I was out of the country for 5 days, which I warned them about well in advance, that the lack of delivery is in fact my problem and not theirs. In fact, I believe that because I warned them I would be unavailable and in a new city with no friends or family to receive my things on my behalf, that they used this EXACT date to schedule the delivery on. It covers their ass and makes it seem like they made an attempt, did me a favor by "accommodating" me, and are now using it as an excuse to restart my delivery window of 2-21 days and blame me for it. I did not know and was never told that this would reset my wait window. Had I known this would set me back, which again wasn't communicated at all, I would've flown someone out to be here. However, I highly doubt there was ever ACTUALLY going to be a delivery on that date.

My attempts at getting an answer on when to expect my belongings has been met with pushback stating that this process requires flexibility and that the lack of delivery is due to accommodating my building restrictions of a Monday-Friday move. How does it make sense that removing 2 days out of a 7day week has a month and a half+ impact on the move? How do they not know when a truck will be coming/going? Furthermore, I called to remove the M-F restriction to see if that would open me up for a quicker delivery. It has not. I'm going against my building rules, but at this point, I'm willing to deal with those consequences.

I call and email often. The only status update since June 9th is that "we'll call you when it's in transit". How does a direct service company, that says they aren't a broker, have zero visibility on your own trucks/drivers/movers? I am now 17days outside of my 21day mark, going by my actual first date of availability not the one they're imposing as a result of my planned and communicated travel. I'll update this review if I ever get my stuff.

Furthermore, I fear my things will arrive broken, irreplaceable and roach infested as many others have indicated that they've experienced with this company. I'm not even worried about glasses and mirrors that I can replace, it's my late uncle's letters and old photos that make this heartbreaking.

Long-distance move from Orange City, FL to West Buxton, ME

Once they take your money they're in the wind.

Long distance move from Orlando Florida to Buxton Maine. Everyone one was friendly and explained everything except for the fact they are a staffing company who subs out the work. I was told to plan on 7 days but it could take up to 14 days. That was ok. Not optimal but I agreed. When the driver arrived there were no movers. The movers decided not to show claiming there was a festival going on in the town which there wasn't. The driver waited almost an hour before he was told no one was coming. We needed our stuff so my brother, his girlfriend, my 16 year old, the driver and myself unloaded the truck. I then get a call from the subcontractor telling me she'll have two movers in the morning at 8am. At first she was apologetic because we unloaded the truck and that we would be compensated (still waiting for that compensation). The following day two local movers arrived (Southern Maine Movers). Wonderful young men. The same woman called me telling me it was my fault that we chose to unload the truck and they didn't have to compensate me for anything. Once we started looking thru our stuff there many boxes missing and my dining room table was destroyed. I have been calling these people for the past2weeks.noresponse.

Highly recommended!

The local Direct Relocation group has always been a good vendor partner to us in the past year that we started our relationship. There is a real effort to fulfill our every request, customer service orientated and friendly! They have been a valuable addition and have made our lives much less complicated when we need to complete our furniture projects.

Don't do it

WARNING!! ⚠️ ⚠️!! This company direct relocation services can not help you with your out of state move. When they came to pick up my things they were nice and cool, that's thee only good part. The drop off/delivery and in between was horrible. They did all this research on other companies through a dot website or whatever that was to compare but they still end up fcking up the move. Apparently the phrase FADD (First available Delivery date) does not mean you are getting your things the first available DELIVERY DATE. It means they finally going to try and pair you with another truck that's heading in your direction. Out the 3 weeks after my FADD I haven't heard from them, no updates like they said they would give. I had called twice just so they could tell me they still pairing and my stuff is still in my old state ?. Finally delivery day and it's a whole different company. ?. (I'm looking at these people like I didn't hire you, why are you charging me extra.) That company even tried calling direct relocation services but they was not answering. And when I called them shane Ole top notch saler was running 2hrs late and not in the office or available. That's when I told the movers from the other company I just got off the phone with them, he told me his people told him they wasn't answering. Direct relocation services claimed it was a discounted price but at the end it was full price plus more. Now we're going through our stuff and now we have broken, damaged and missing stuff. ? Maria claimed she checked the warehouse to see if anything was left behind, not sure if she really checked but she was suppose to check back or call back to let me know. I guess I had to call back since it's my stuff. W.e. weeks went by and this nice lady contact me on Facebook and Instagram about having my things. Thank God she wasn't hrs away from me. We meet up to get the little bit of things they gave to her. And she also said they lost her things and wanted to do something nice since she knows how it feels to have your things traveling without you. She said they called and was trying to give her somebody else things on top of that. She found a paper with my name on it, that's how she found me on social media. I wouldn't use this company for out of state moves at all. But if you do, cause I know people would still use them after the reviews and think no this wouldn't happened to me. Atleast have your name in and on everything with a phone number. And be prepared.

Direct Relocation Nightmare

DON'T EVER USE THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL REGRET IT EACH MOMENT OF YOUR MOVE.

We used Direct Relocation Services to move my dad from California to Texas. My initial contact with this company was on July 11 and I secured the contract on July 12. I was promised, via email that the pick up date in California was locked in for July 28. The movers showed up July 26 with almost no advance notice and argued with me that I should have known the pickup window was any time between July 26-28.

The 'first expected delivery date' of August 12 doesn't actually mean that is when we could expect delivery. We were told, when I secured the contract, that delivery would be August 9. As a result, I didn't pay attention to the August 12 date. What the 'first expected delivery date' really represents is the date Direct Relocation believes the customer will arrive in their final destination. From that date, Direct Relocation gives themselves 2-21 BUSINESS DAYS to deliver the actual household items.

What this meant for us is that my dad's furniture didn't arrive until September 10. After repeated phone calls and numerous unreturned phone calls, I learned that Direct Relocation had subcontracted the move out to their 'partner' in California. The partner had one truck in their fleet. I eventually received a phone call promising delivery on September 8 or 9. After no communication for almost two additional days, I received several phone calls on the evening of September 9 to let me know the truck had a flat tire and would be there on September 10, providing the hired helpers were available.

So, from start to finish, the move took 2 months and was fraught with lies, deception, unreturned phone calls, ghosting and pointing the finger at other people and companies.

We had used Best Quality Movers for a previous move and were incredibly pleased with their communication, timeliness and professionalism. The only reason we didn't use them this time was because we couldn't remember their name until after we had booked Direct Relocation.

Dishonest Brokers - Run!

The QA person Richard will tell you it is a Professional move conducted with there employees and trucks. He will use the BBB and DOT to convince you they are not brokers and yet they are! It is a lie!

They hired a random truck driver, a day worker and a guy off of Craig's list To do our deliver They damaged many of our belongings and lost or stole art work. The claim to be looking for the lost painting and processing a claim. They have done nothing! Google "movingclaims.net scam"

Great job and we are super thankful to you!

Their movers had incredible packing skills. They packed my flat-screen TV and computers expertly with durable foam, thick fabric cloth and blankets. They also made sure to secure the cables, remotes, and stands in Ziploc bags so they wouldn’t get lost. Furthermore, they also brought large sized custom-made crates for them for additional protection. I was over the moon when I received everything in fantastic shape. I couldn’t have asked for more!
