      Dreadful company

CHHJ is the all time worst moving company on the planet. Everything they touched was the worse for it. They broke a precious antique figurine that they themselves packed, ruined a fine cherry

cabinet, walked out without reassembling 2 more items, nicked a leather chair, took no care in just handling my things, chipped pieces wherever it was possible. I quickly put in a claim and sent photos and the cabinet maker's bill for the repair, and 4 months later, nothing. They just ignore my claim. I am going to escalate this to a gov't agency but it has worn me down.

Local move - Worst move ever

I was extremely disappointed with my move with College Hunks. Communication was poor from the start. I informed them ahead of time that I had several items in the basement, including a treadmill, but no one mentioned it would need to be disassembled before moving day. Instead, I was left to disassemble it on the spot and am not even sure I will be able to reassemble it correctly.

The crew also caused damage to both the home we left and the home we moved into, including gouges and black marks on walls and a door frame. They also tracked mud into the house. At the destination, numerous items were not placed where they belonged, creating additional work for me after the move.

When it started raining, instead of completing the move properly, the crew piled basement items in my garage, blocking access to my car. Those items could have been taken downstairs using the interior stairs, but they chose not to do so and left them for me to deal with. One item is so heavy that I will now have to pay someone else to move it.

To make matters worse, my attempts to address these issues with the company have gone unanswered.

Overall, this move resulted in property damage, extra work, and…

I have had two moves with them........

The first move went tes awaywell and that when the trouble started. On the second move all they had to do was pick up boxe's and move them 15 minutes away. As I unpacked I started to notice how much was missing. I called my moving coordinator and he never me back. The holidays happened and I kept noticing stuffed missing. Queen size sheets, all my CD's that were inside a draw and small things. I called and filed a claim but was told I was confused. I will never use them again as I lost more than the move cost me. After a conversation with the managers, they pointed out the website states, how much of the moving truck the couch will take up is the real cost. DON'T LET THE APPROXIMATE PRICE mislead you. Do your research before using this company. I do not recommend.

      Overcharge

I was quoted $1622.25 by College Hunks aka Simmons moving of North Charleston SC. I was ready for the 8am arrival. They did say 8 - 10. Got there at 10:30. The estimate was for two men at 10.75 hours. They had three men and got done in 7.50 hours. Pretty good Time moving a 704 square foot apartment from third floor to third floor 212 miles away. Because they made such good time They decided I should pay them $ 3776.25! They have not returned my phone calls. I do not agree with the additional $1745.00 that they padded onto the final bill that they could not justify. Unfortunately the person that recommended them made the same move two weeks before me. If I had called him after his move he would have told me that they double charged him also and I would have used another moving company.

Do not use in Macomb County, MI

Use the Macomb County location if you do not care at all about your walls. I just had my walls painted. The crew neglected to use padding to protect the walk ways. The crew neglected to lift the couch over the half wall and smashed it through, causing damage in 5 areas. The company tried to rectify by sending a repair vendor, who made it worse. I had to pay my own contractor to fix the damage and repaint. The kicker was on the day of (don't book them for a Sunday) the company tried to come early, several times. I wasn't available. Then at the scheduled time, the crew got held up. I was told a different crew would be on the way. I had a bad feeling, and communicated that I would prefer to wait for the initial crew scheduled. The secondary crew arrived and was not even the crew for junk removal. I asked the company to pay for the repair and was declined. I am confident this company pays a service to remove bad reviews from google. NOT 5 stars.

      BAD EXPERIENCE!

TERRIBLE company to work with. Move was scheduled, then they rescheduled. Then they DIDN‘T SHOW UP. Then rescheduled for next day then at the appointed time snottily said they would be late. Then accused me of threatening them. Now will not return calls. Corporate says the local franchise won’t work with us.

Now we are stuck with apt. lease expiring, empty new home and can’t get another mover until late September. In my opinion they are badly managed corporately and locally. I cannot say ANYTHING good about this company.

      They don't show up.

Wanted them to quote on packing services for a move. Made an appointment (which they said was required for them to assess the packing needs), they gave me a 2-hour window of when they would show up. 2.5 hours in, nobody showed up or called. I called customer service, who said someone would call me back immediately with an update - didn't happen. 3 hours in, I called again, got the same story, that someone would call me back immediately. Never happened. 5.5 hours later, still nothing. I hired someone else to pack while I was waiting on them to keep their word, fortunately. The other company was able to quote over the phone and in writing via text/email. What a crazy amount of time I have wasted on this company, and I am quite mad about it.

Worst packing job I've ever seen

I've used College Hunks in the past to remove junk, and it was fine. But when I had them pack up our house for a move, it went horribly wrong to the point we had items damaged (before they were moved!), the packers smoked weed in multiple rooms of my house, and the packing was so bad we had to pay to have it all repacked, while having to delay our move as well. Items were crushed, or put into otherwise empty boxes with no packing materials whatsoever, including framed pictures that can't be replaced (see photos, all open boxes were exactly as I found them after the movers left). They even taped picture frames to boxes for some reason? The packers who repacked everything couldn't believe how bad a job had been done. The company originally offered us a refund, which never came through, and now they're saying they won't. We tried to call the corporate office, but they said they have zero control over franchises, so keep that in mind if you take a (huge) chance on this company!

Sub-par Moving Experience

Used this company to move me 10 miles across town. They did a "virtual estimate" and severely underestimated my move then hot me with additional charges on the back-end. Attitude was --"oh-well". Did I mention they damage my $3500.00 Samsung Stainless Steel Refrigerator. Never-Ever again will I use this moving service. Never-ever!!!!

No Show

Worse experience ever. Got an estimate, was expecting a work crew to show up on the day. day comes, no crew. apparently the estimator decided it was too much and didn't schedule.

My girlfriend got into a car accident a week before and i had to make arrangements to have her in a bed while the bed was being moved.

now I am stuck moving this apartment alone.

I called College Hunks 3 times, each time they said they were going to get information and call me back, I never received a phone call.

Do not use if you actually need someone to show up. 0 stars

Liars and Strong Arm Tactics

Paid deposit for a 3 man crew to move a 2-bedroom, local move. Later in the afternoon, the co-owner called and said he had to have 4 men on the job and wanted $300 plus more. I said no, and he said 4 men or the move is cancelled. Stet away from these liars and strong arm tactics.

REALLY AWFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL

Bad movers, left furniture in house, didn't do a walk through. Couldn't load a large storage unit. Started at 9 am through 5:30. The worst...customer service, Chris, a manager? Didn't call me back. I will work very hard to make sure their bad reputation will follow them in every state.

False cost agreement.

Quick and fast trash removal. However, quoted 409.00 for the cost of the removal. That's what I agreed to. The cost at the end was 572.00. That's a large difference and we are not happy about that difference. We are not going to be using this service again.
