Long-distance move from Bedford, NH to Lake Havasu City, AZ

Moving.

They did not contact me until after the cancellation period, I had tried to call, my friends had tried to call the company and the number was out of service on all phones, until after I sent an email. then the only phone that could contact them was my cell phone. then they said that they had phone problems. the number they used to contact me is registered to someone else, not the person that comes up on caller id.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7000

Official company response

We are incredibly sorry for your frustrations. Can I have you job number? We would be happy to address any issues you are experiencing. Our Phone system was down for a few days but we have A direct dial number that comes through a different service; email; and a ticketing system through our website. We were experiencing technical difficulties from the phone system carrier, we are not experts in technical communications and had to wait for service, we do apologize. How can we be of assistance?

Long-distance move from Illinois to Texas

Never Use This Company!!

During our estimate, they said it would take 5-8 days to move our stuff from Chicago to Texas. They said they would give themselves a 2-day window to get our stuff out of our Chicago home and they were supposed to be there on June 27th or 28th, and have us out by the 29th. They did not show up until 7 p.m. on the 28th, and left at 9 p.m. because they were tired. The job was only 1/3 of the way done. This caused all of our cleaning to be canceled and we ended up staying all night at the house taking apart beds and moving all of the boxes downstairs (which was there job!) They promised to be there at 8 a.m. the next morning and didn’t show up until 11 a.m. which made us miss our 10 a.m. deadline of our final house inspection. They didn’t finish the job until 3 p.m. and we had to sit outside in the summer heat with a toddler and newborn twins because we had nowhere to go and we couldn’t leave because we had to wait for them to get ahold of their manager on the phone (who micromanaged everything, but doesn’t seem to know what’s going on).
We made our drive to Texas and had to hurry to meet the 5-8-day deadline so we would be here in time to open the house for the movers. It has now been 20 days and we have called the moving company multiple times a day and talked to multiple managers and they have no idea where the truck is. They keep promising that the truck will be here and they never show up. We have asked for calls back multiple times and they never call us back, and never keep up there promises. We keep asking for a weight of the truck so we know how much money to get a money order for, and they never call us back. They don’t communicate with their customers, or their employees. They never know where the drivers are and they give us the excuse that they are “busy” I don’t care if you are “busy,” don’t make promises you can’t keep and don’t try to run a business with false advertisement.
So here we sit in an empty house with a toddler and newborn twins. We have no cribs, no beds or mattresses or cooking or cleaning supplies. We also do not have our washer and dryer to clean our clothes (newborns are messy!) Our preemie newborns have slept on the CEMENT FLOOR since we have moved here. We were promised to have our stuff and we have not seen it or heard from the company. We have asked several times for a discount and all we get is an “I’m sorry” This is completely ridiculous and this company should be put out of business. I can’t believe a moving company could be so terrible. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

Official company response

Good Afternoon Heather, in your attempt to slander our name on every social media website, we have received your message loud and clear. We are sorry for any inconveniences you experienced with the carrier. You mention that during your estimate you were told 5-8 days for delivery, all of our calls in the estimating department are recorded and I have reviewed your call specifically for further clarification. Your husband requested free 30 day storage at the time of booking. We also have documented emails and phone calls for further verification on your account. We sent an email to your husbands email so you know exactly what to expect for delivery. This was also outlined via recorded conversations and in our contract which was e-signed on 3 separate occasions with your husbands IP address.
06/27/2017 @ 1:54PM
06/25/2017 @ 2:00PM
05/24/2017 @ 5:47PM
Below is the email we sent after pick up.
I have also put quotation marks around your comments and concerns.
Thank you for choosing Coastal Moving Group. This is a friendly reminder to let you know what to expect now that your Pickup has been completed. Please remember the drivers are on real roads in real trucks and have guidelines to follow with regards to DOT regulations. We want them and your belongings arriving safely. We try to take care all of our clients as VIPs, so it is important that we take the proper measures so your items come to you safely and securely and in a time frame you expect.
Below are estimated Delivery time frame windows:
0 - 500 miles 2 – 5 Business days
500 – 1500 miles 3 – 14 Business days
1500 – 2500 miles 4 – 17 Business days
2500 – 3500 miles 5 – 21 Business days
Delivery Dates are estimated and based on mileage, routing, and fluctuate due to traffic, weather, and other unforeseen delays. If you sign for a FIRST AVAILABLE DELIVERY DATE (F.A.D.D.), this means your belongings will be kept in the state of origin and the delivery process will not begin until that day. This is a great option if you aren't available for the normal estimated delivery windows provided above. Please remember, if the estimated windows provided above are realistic for you and your move, let the driver know your F.A.D.D. is the date of pick up (immediate). As per DOT Law all deliveries are required to be completed with in 21 business days of the First Available Delivery Date. (F.A.D.D.).
“They said they would give themselves a 2-day window to get our stuff out of our Chicago home and they were supposed to be there on June 27th or 28th, and have us out by the 29th. They did not show up until 7 p.m. on the 28th, and left at 9 p.m. because they were tired. The job was only 1/3 of the way done. “
The movers work extremely hard and this is the busiest time of year, that being said we can't control every element. We try hard to make time in transport and move our customers accordingly. Drivers CANNOT work more than 8 hours in one day or drive more than 500 miles because it isn’t safe for them, you or innocent bystanders, there are regulations for a reason, so your items are safe and peoples lives are safe, this is Per DOT regulations. The drivers are HUMAN and have the right to rest and are actually required to do so. This is the busiest time of year and unfortunately your move was scheduled for the end of the day. It is never our intention to get anyone upset. We have families also, but we literally cannot drive these men any harder than they already work. There are several publications of truckers falling asleep at the wheel from exhaustion and killing people In accidents. We would rather have the drivers safe and your belongings. There is nothing more that we could want than to help you and your family instead of spending countless hours trying to find out when your items will arrive from the CARRIER.
“This caused all of our cleaning to be canceled and we ended up staying all night at the house taking apart beds and moving all of the boxes downstairs (which was there job!) “
The carrier can only reassemble the furniture that they disassemble for insurance purposes. We specifically ask that you make no plans during that week because of unexpected delays.
“They promised to be there at 8 a.m. the next morning and didn’t show up until 11 a.m. which made us miss our 10 a.m. deadline of our final house inspection. “
The movers get paid to move your items in the hot scorching sun, this was unbearable to you for a few hours imagine their 8 hour day moving your items and others. The movers signed up for this kind of job and work very hard to make you happy.
“We made our drive to Texas and had to hurry to meet the 5-8-day deadline so we would be here in time to open the house for the movers. “
We always ask that you communicate with the driver on pick up about delivery, again your frustrations are pointed in the wrong direction.
“It has now been 20 days and we have called the moving company multiple times a day and talked to multiple managers and they have no idea where the truck is. They keep promising that the truck will be here and they never show up. We have asked for calls back multiple times and they never call us back, and never keep up there promises. We keep asking for a weight of the truck so we know how much money to get a money order for, and they never call us back. They don’t communicate with their customers, or their employees. They never know where the drivers are and they give us the excuse that they are “busy” I don’t care if you are “busy,” don’t make promises you can’t keep and don’t try to run a business with false advertisement.”
Your move was initially scheduled for 30 days of Free Storage! It is listed on the contract. We have also been in communication with the carrier on your behalf, again we have records of this communication and have been conversing with your husband directly on multiple occasions.
“So here we sit in an empty house with a toddler and newborn twins. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.”
Your family chose to do a piggy back move, we get our movers to do deliveries as quickly as possible, if not that move could cost anywhere from $12,000-$20,000 for a direct and exclusive truck. Our team is working tirelessly with your husband to resolve the issues you have experienced with the carrier. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

Long-distance move from Ohio to Illinois

Dishonest moving company.

They are a brokerage firm that uses other movers to complete jobs. However, they price you out and promise pickup/ delivery dates they know these companies can't honor. They're completely dishonest and will tell you anything you want to hear. They will lie to you and set expectations they cannot meet. Then once you realize what's going on and bring that to their attention they become defensive. Do not not pick this company. You will regret it.

Long-distance move from Jupiter, FL to Calico Rock, AR

Best Move Yet!

I have move quite a few times in the past years due to military relocations. In every move prior, I have encountered unforeseen charges, delays, and a few broken/lost items along the way. This has been the most seamless of them all. It did seam a little daunting when I was originally going through the stuff we were moving. Phil did a really good job of explaining the process, truly. That said, and more than likely due to our number of moves in the past few years we had no issues. My wife did leave off a few boxes she "knew" we didn't have and the table she hated and was going to sell and paid for it, but it was fair from what I was able to see. Kudos my friends they did a great job Phil was fantastic.

Long-distance move from Alabama to Rhode Island

Alabama to Rhode Island.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!
Wow..I am totally blown away by the reviews I read for this moving service. Had I not gone thru and listened to the same lies told to other customers I would not have believed a company could be so dishonest!

I was told by their company representative, Blake, that they had their own trucks and would be the actual movers..which was a lie. I gave them six weeks lead time to move me from Alabama to Rhode Island and they were well aware that the time frame was important as I would be flying out two days after my goods were to be moved. Notice I said "would be moved" as they never even showed up to move me. First they wanted to move my date up two days prior to the already two day window for the move which as I was only in Alabama a short while was impossible for me to be ready for them a full two days prior to our agreed upon moving date. Keep in mind I was given no notice only a call on the day they wanted to pick up my belongings. There were several attempts (by me) to get them to call me back but my calls were not returned. After I finally reached them I was given such a run around and more stories that it became actually funny that they could invent so many excuses for not picking up. They never did show up and I caught my flight back home and my belongings are still in Alabama. They still have my deposit. The chase will resume to get that back..That should be fun..
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Long-distance move from Ypsilanti, MI to Boca Raton, FL

Happy Mover!

Just moved from Michigan to south Florida and chose to go with Coastal and I'm so glad I did! For starters Logan (my moving coordinator) was so helpful and nice. My quoting process was quick and easy and pretty self explanatory. The prices were very reasonable especially for the quality of service they provided! All of my belongings were taken care of and they even took apart my gigantic entertainment center and put it back together without a scratch! All around I'd have to say the best move I've done and I've moved quite a lot. Thank you so much Coastal Moving Group! I'll keep you in mind for next time!

Long-distance move from Colorado to Massachusetts

Missing items.

They didn't tell me their company doesn't do the actual moving before and after I signed the moving contract. The Executive Moving and Storage delivered my stuff to us with damages on almost all the furnitures, and most importantly. 2 of my most valuable and most important items are missing! I have been anxiously waiting for them to search for those missing items for 3 weeks, I made many calls and sent many text messages, NOBODY knows where they are so far! They are big, they can't be missing!

DO NOT book your move with Coastal Moving Group.

DO NOT book your move with Coastal Moving Group under any circumstance. Coastal Moving Group may seem like a good option, because their representatives are so fast to respond to your initial request for movers. Don’t be fooled-they’ll only pay attention to you when they’re trying to get your money. In fact, if you’re reading this review after having paid their initial fee, do yourself a favor and cancel within their 72 hour grace period. Trust me-it’s for the best.

This company provided no benefit to me, and caused me and my husband a lot of stress and inconvenience. Their disorganization and utter callousness made my eighth month of pregnancy a living nightmare. Here are some things you should know about Coastal Moving Group:

1) Coastal Moving Group does not actually participate in your move, and will give you no say in who will actually move your belongings. Instead, they will book your moving contract with another company, and then ignore you. In my case, they picked a company that was rated F by the better business bureau, which I would never have selected on my own based on their rating. I left several phone messages with Coastal Moving Group trying to discuss their “carrier” selection with a human being, but no one ever called me back. This speaks to their unwillingness to discuss their service with their customers, unless they’re trying to get your money.
2) Coastal Moving Group does not provide an accurate estimate of the costs of the moving service-you will pay a lot more than expected in the end. I found out after booking with their company that it is best practice for a moving company representative to visit your home to prepare an accurate set of moving costs. Instead, Coastal Moving Group prepared one over the phone. When the actual movers arrived, they packed all our things in their truck and THEN told us that our actual moving costs should be double the original estimate (SURPRISE!). Since our apartment’s lease ended the next morning, and our stuff was already in their truck after hours of packing, did we really have a reasonable response other than to pay the increased price??
3) Coastal Moving Group did not tell us how to fill out the moving company’s form to have our belongings shipped in any reasonable amount of time. On the mover’s sheet, there was a box labelled “first available delivery date”. When our belongings were picked up on August 9th, we put the first day we would be available in our new city to receive our belongings, like any reasonable person would (August 28th). Coastal Moving Group waited until 2 days after we filled out the form to inform us that our belongings would be held in the shipping state (in our case, California even though they started in Oregon….), then arrive at the destination WITHIN 5-21 business days AFTER THAT. Yup-you read that correctly. For my eighth month of pregnancy, we slept on an air mattress, with no dishes, microwave or coffee maker, and nothing to do in our new apartment in a new city where we didn’t know anyone. The company that Coastal Moving Group hired as our “carrier” turned around and booked movers from A DIFFERENT COMPANY to pick them up. That’s right-Coastal Moving Group hired a carrier moving company to move our belongings, who in turn is actively trying to hire someone else to do the job (we had zero say in selecting either company). Where is the accountability?? Who is responsible for our stuff? Not even we know…
4) Coastal Moving Group truly does not care if or when your belongings arrive, and will do nothing to help you learn where they are, when they will be shipped, or when they will arrive. After they received their money, the very rare time that they answered their phone, they told me they didn’t know anything, wouldn’t help me, and that I should phone the carrier directly instead. The owner of the carrier moving company answered my phone calls about once a week, and always said the same thing “I think a truck with some movers is coming soon, I’ll give you an update, call me tomorrow”, but never gave any updates or answered my follow up phone calls. When I explained this to a Coastal Moving Group representative on the phone, they told me they could do nothing, and told me to keep calling the owner and that eventually he would answer the phone. Our belongings finally began moving from L.A. to Massachusetts the day they were required to be delivered by law (Sept. 26th), and arrived on Oct. 4th. Coastal Moving Group did not offer to compensate us in anyway for their extremely late delivery, and their poor customer service.

In Summary: Coastal Moving Group will give you an unrealistically low estimate for your moving costs, while initially seeming very responsive to your phone calls. After the 3 day grace period, you’ll find out that they selected a low-quality carrier to actually move your belongings, give you belated instructions on how to fill out forms related to the move, ignore most of your phone calls, and brush off any questions or concerns you have your move. Do NOT accept a contract with Coastal Moving Group under any circumstance.

Long-distance move from Plymouth, MA to Naples, FL

Worst experience ever.

I used Coastal Moving Group to move from Massachusetts to Florida in 2017. I have moved many times with many companies and this was the most horrible experience I have ever had. The company that picked up my goods insisted on more money after they loaded the truck in spite of the fact that I had a guaranteed price. Conveniently, it was after hours and no one at Coastal could help me other than to tell me to give the movers the money and they would sort it out the next day. They never did, claiming that I gave up my rights to recourse when I gave the driver money. The moving company lost many things, including irreplaceable antiques and family treasures. Coastal was of no help in trying to resolve anything. It has been two years and I still get upset everytime I miss something that was important to me. I wrote a review right after I moved but it seems to have been taken off the website.

Taking advantage of blind peoples disabilities.

THESE PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF DISABLED PEOPLE!!

What an atrocious sales team. These people were so pushy with getting our deposit even after me clearly telling the lady no I don't want to pay it today. She insisted if we put the payment in a certain way that the money wouldn't come out for a few days and sure enough it came out sooner than she said even after we had contacted the company to cancel services because we had changed our mind on the whole move together. This led to overdraft fees on top of everything. After I email them irritated that the money was taken out in the first place 2 days after I tried to cancel they responded with oh our policy states if moves are canceled withing 14 days of the move the deposit is not refundable. Definitely explains why the lady so pushy and insistent that we give her our bank info right then and there. This woman knew My boyfriend is legally blind and I was in a car trying to get my friends dog to the vet so we obviously couldn't read this policy right then and there but was fully aware that no matter what this would be an easy pay day for her. My boyfriend had recieved a call from someone when we wanted to cancel and the man told him he didn't want us to get stuck with a non legitimate company so he called to clarify what that would be since apparently taking a disabled man's money is legitimate the woman informed him that it was the 3rd line in the cancelation policy my boyfriend asked her "well im blind so how does that do me any good?" Her response was getting fussy telling him well I can't help you and hanging up on him. This was a disgusting example of how these people manipulate and steal from disabled people I can only imagine what they get away with with poor elderly individuals. Sure they say that with the deposit we can reschedule the move withing 12 monthes but not only are we not moving anymore there's no way in hell I would ever trust these people with my belongings and would never give them more money that's for sure.
