AWFUL EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND

I booked my move with Emerald Van Lines, who contracted with Carefree to move our items from Kansas City to the Adirondacks in New York. Our price increased from $8000 to over $12,000 - the last time on the day of the move (another $2400 AFTER verifying the exact number of boxes and items). Our items came 2 weeks after the estimated delivery date and, while they sent FIVE PEOPLE to load our items in Kansas City, they only sent ONE PERSON to unload our items in NY. It took two days and we had to find (and pay) other people to help unload. In addition, because it was only one person, they refused to put the items back where they originally were per the contract. For example, the tool chest was not put in the basement, because it "wasn't safe." It wasn't safe BECAUSE THEY ONLY SENT ONE PERSON.

In addition, they refused to unload our items until I signed documents stating that they delivered EVERYTHING and that it was ALL THERE AND ALL IN GOOD CONDITION. The document they wanted me to sign specifically said, "DO NOT SIGN UNTIL THE ITEMS ARE UNLOADED AND VERIFIED." When I pointed this out to them, they threatened to take my items with them and keep them until I signed - and that it would list me as refused delivery, meaning I would have to pay again or they could sell my items. I signed the papers but stated they were under duress and that at no point was I given the opportunity to inspect the items.

Beyond all of this, the biggest issue was HOW our things were handled with no care at all. So many items came broken - our refrigerator was dented and the water/ice in door broken, a massive steel tool chest had all of the wheels ripped off of it, and the steel bent. Bookshelves destroyed, chairs destroyed - boxes completely beat to hell. We still have 8 boxes not accounted for at all.

I've moved across multiple states 4 times in the last 7 years. This time I decided to treat myself rather than do the work/move myself...what a mistake. I never lost an item, packed or otherwise, when I did the move myself. I would say use anyone but these guys - but in reality, all the companies are the same.If you can move yourself at all, do it. Otherwise, just know these jokers (and all the other companies) have you by the balls when you use them and they know it.

Very bad

I don't know how this company is in Business. They loose your items and also try to double the price at the time of loading which I learned is a tactic they use because you are already invested. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT recommend this company.

They lost my bed and my tools. they hire drivers who are not part of the company and the drivers don't know anything when you ask them questions. No customer service when you call them after the delivery. I tried to file a claim and the company gave up. I am basically screwed. Forget about getting your money or reimbursement if they don't bring your stuff.

Horrible

Absolutely horrible. They almost tripled my estimate for no reason and without warning. Do not use this company, they are bad at communicating. Save your time and money, you will get a better deal with much less stress somewhere else

Delayed delivery, lost dining room table, which was part of a set, offered 75.00 in compensation, bait and switch on price when showed to pick up items. You have been warned..wish I would have trusted my gut with this company

We have moved cross country 5 times within the last 20 twenty years. This was the worst company we have ever dealt with. They broke items and several items were lost. Expensive with little or no customer service.

Great Move!

My husband and I recently moved from Georgia to Iowa. Ray and his helper(I wish we knew his name!) were wonderful at handling our things. Both flatscreen TVs arrived in perfect condition as did my huge 100 yr. old mirror and a large hand-painted antique kerosene double globe lamp that belonged to my aunt! I also have original artwork and it all arrived in perfect condition. It all depends on who the company hires and we hit the jackpot with these fine and caring men.

Still haven't received

My items were picked up on May 17th. It is now August 4 and I still haven't received my items. I fear the worst that all of my items have been stolen or destroyed. Again -- do not use Allegience or Carefree Movers. Every single review is negative for reason. I am an attorney and will be pursuing legal action.

Movers Were Great but Company is not Reputable! Beware!

Don't use this company! I was quoted $2170 for me move. When the truck came they claimed I was misquoted and charged me an additional $2700! More than twice as much! What was I supposed to do when they are in my driveway and I have to be out of my house in 6 days! The driver and mover were good but the company is a scam!

Ghosted on delivery day! Horrible customer service

This company did not deliver my goods after I was charged an extra $2000 for a specific delivery date. They did not call or respond to texts or e mails on delivery day. They simply ghosted me on delivery day, It's now a week later and I have heard nothing from them! They are completely non responsive.

This company lost our flat screen TV, destroyed a bookshelf that they packed and failed to deliver over 32 boxes they listed on the shipping manifest. If you look at the other reviews you will see similar comments, especially the missing TVs. I think they add boxes to the manifest to raise the price. They are the worst!

Worst experience of my life (minus losing a family member)

Still traumatized by everything that happened the day of the move. Movers broke stuff and then lied and and a supervisor on the phone threatened me for simply asking questions.More examples have been recorded. It’s as terrible as you can imagine. Not an opinion and not up for debate.

I pray that the federal government will look into the scamming activity of this company. They are awful! The unfortunate part is that I didn't select them, my contract was sold to them from Vanguard Movers LLC. I had to call the police! I had to call a lawyer! Just don’t do it, it’s a terrible company that points fingers. Nobody takes responsibility and they don’t do what they say they will. Customer service is a complete joke, packers just slam whatever into a box, and on top of everything you end up paying more than what you were quoted for. Avoid at all costs
