Long-distance move from Arizona City, AZ to Rockville, MD

Delivery date

Do not use this company they do not deliver on time. When you call I get a different story. They give you the runaround to make up for why they were late. And they said we will pay you $25 for each day they were late, which does not make up if you have the schedule to keep.

My original movers was allied one and I didn’t realize that they contract out with another company if that was the case I would’ve not gone with him. My stuff was picked up 9/3/2022 delivery date on no later than 10/24 which I was told they normally deliver 1 to 2 weeks early that was not the case. Then I call 10/22 was told I would get it 10/29 or 30th not the case now my stuff was loaded today 10/27 and I am the 5th drop off from Arizona to Maryland so now they are say 11/3 or 4th I don’t believe it but will see. So if you have 2 months to get your stuff then your be ok

Long-distance move from Naperville, IL to Omaha, NE

Worst moving experience ever

I unfortunately did not have time to look at this company's reviews until after I was in the midst of the move. As others have posted here, Carefree was contracted by a company I did sign with. Not only did my price essentially double from my quote, the items were delivered late. There was no word from the company in advance--just a text message from the driver of the truck saying they'd be there in 10 minutes.

On the plus side, the driver/two movers were very polite and understanding that I could not leave work at the drop of a hat to meet them ten minutes later.

On the down side: everything else. The lack of communication is concerning. Being late is concerning. Having a truck not arrive and not receiving a single call on behalf of Carefree is concerning (I had to call Southern Guarantee multiple times to get any type of contact). My cat tree came broken and several of the boxes are severely damaged, which makes me assume I will find many broken items when I am able to get to opening them.

But the biggest problem is the "boss" "Debbie." This is by far the absolute WORST customer service and response to a customer I have ever encountered. When I pointed out I didn't appreciate her attitude (which she had the moment I was given her number and called her), she said how she doesn't appreciate mine. She also proceeded to threaten me and state they will hit me with a fee of $175 per hour it takes me to get the cash that they apparently require (which, by the way, is something that one would need to know in advance...especially when you keep increasing my price at each step). When I asked to speak to her manager, she initially claimed she didn't have one before handing me to a random employee. When I stated I did not believe she was actually her manager but that I hope I'm being recorded and complained about her attitude, "Debbie" immediately started yelling again (way to have a good poker face, dude). This is absolutely unacceptable behavior for anyone in any type of a customer service position. I will be looking at the damages and continue to take photos to assess the damages and take whatever action is necessary to be reimbursed, as this was an entirely unacceptable and horrible situation.

Long-distance move from Greensboro, NC to Compton, CA

Absolutely terrifying and horrific service ....if you can RUN!

So I did a move across country with beacon moving in florida, unware they hired sub contractors. Which was my first mistake. This comoany was hored to do my move and they completely attempted to scam, hustle, withhold information and cheat the entire process. Intitially when the mover came to pick up my stuff the two drivers came into my living room and proceeded to count my boxes. One of them literally set on my couch for 2 hrs watching videos in spanish as neither of them spoke english. Finallyb after 3 hours of nothing they tried to say I would have to pay more and there would be step fees since I has 3 steps -_-. They also mentioned there was an additional carrying the boxes to the truck fee which was ridiculos. After picking everything up they let me know it could take 30 days from that date. After repeatedly asking and verifying which day I intended to recieve my items. This was information not once was stated but "in the countract." YES... the contract, which was thrown in my face at the moment all of my items were loaded into the truck with over 30 pages of random information that was overwhelming to digest. I proceeded to ask the movers what was in the conract and they motioned that they were not sure and did understand as they primarily spoke spanish. After having my things delivered weeks later, I could see other individuals things damaged on the truck with all my punctured boxes that I was at least all there...So i thought. I was rushed to get all of my things and verify that everything was there and to sign. The driver got angry that I wouldnt sign and refused to aknowledge items that I realized where missing since i Did take a picture of all of my things loaded on the first truck. He literally said NO and closed the truck door. and drove off. I tried to call the company and no answer for a week, until I decided to call back to back until a pickup, after 3x it worked. Only to be told to email customer service which could take 30 days top locate my lost items. Overall its a hot mess and they suck!

Missing items

Hmmm I too lost a flat screen TV box except ours was filled with sentimental and original art. We were given so many excuses same tags as another household, warehouse sloopiness etc. Worse part the 3rd party company in charge of claims makes it impossible to get the forms entered correctly without starting all over each time they request additional information. Well this strategy worked I'm upset and have given up the claim. Why? If you accepted the flat rate insurance it's paid by the pound which made our missing items worth less than $50.00. Have been moved > 10 times never had this problem. BTW- TV's are so easy to sell on street could this be happening?

Also they demand all their payment upfront. Cash please on pickup won't even open the doors until they have your money!

2 Months after pick up and my things just arrived.

I haven't even taken my own inventory yet but this was the WORST moving experience. If you are reading, do not book with this company. They are not movers they just "facilitate" your move. Facilitate my left leg! They were supposed to deliver back in November within a week of pick up. That was the week before Thanksgiving. It is now January and my things just arrived. I had Christmas gifts in there that I just had to rebuy. I have not had clothes, dishes, or anything else. On top of that, they charged us an extra 1000 dollars randomly and even our actual movers (who were lovely) complained about them as a company. This is truly a scam and unless you need them to hold your stuff, hostage, for 2 months, I highly recommend that you do NOT use Carefree Moves.

THE WORST! Stay away

Sigh. This experience has been by far one of the worst of my life. This company is literally s#!t. Customer service is pretty much non existent and they will take their sweet time to deliver your items. My stuff was picked up sept 29th with a delivery time frame of Oct 15-Nov 30th. I realized my passport was in my things and I travel for a living so I had an international trip for work I had to cancel due to the lack of service provided by this company. I called every single day first thing in the morning and left a million messages that went unanswered. Emails were never responded to either. The sense of urgency to them is nothing. Talk about living up to their company name “carefree”. They had the audacity to say I had to pay an extra $150 if they had to walk more than 75 feet to collect my things. Carlos came and stood in his truck after I counted the steps which equaled 54ft, and had me load the truck myself. Then claimed that wasn’t his job and that if I wanted to I could wait for the truck instead. Nov 30th came and since no one had contacted me and that was the last day in the contract I had to call America’s support team and they were able to get in touch with the driver who happened to be the same person named Carlos. He agreed to bring my things but that I had to pay again since I changed the address and it had to be cash or money order only. Talk about sketchy situation. I just wanted my things so I told him to just bring them to me and I ran over to Walmart at 7pm to get the money order. When he arrived I had to also help unloading because he brought a 10 year old with him and no dolly or anything to help with the move. As soon as I open my things guess what? They stole a sonos speaker out of the box which now I have to send a claim for. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this crappy ass company and their useless personnel. Listen to the negative reviews and save yourself the headache.

Extremely Unprofessional Company

This company is completely unprofessional. They have poor communication and are extremely unorganized. They are quick to collect your money but dissatisfactory in delivering proper, professional moving services. I had my items moved from Ohio to New York City. They did not do the research to see what kind of neighborhood I live in to make proper arrangements to transport my things. They notified me last minute I needed to pay $600 for a shuttle service. When they finally arrived, they send ONE person to do a job instead of 2 people. That's a huge safety issue for that person and I felt bad for him as he was carrying heavy furniture into my apartment. They also delivered other people's items to me and there are several of my items I did not receive. I was told they were going to send a handyman to put my furniture together since the driver didn't do it, and they never sent one. I had to put it together myself. Their customer service doesn't answer their calls and are impossible to get a hold of. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

GO ELSEWHERE!!!!

Worst possible experience. More than doubled our quote about 30 minutes before they arrived. Mover stood outside while we tried to work out a resolution. They would not budge even though the items listed to be moved had not changed. They broke several thousand dollars worth of items and just didn’t deliver several thousand more. No response except “file a claim” to which the offer for settlement was $109.00. So ridiculous. They are dishonest- Do Not Use!! We are 5 months after our move with still no resolution. We’re missing our fridge, freezer, 5 bikes, love seat, chair, coffee and end tables and multiple boxes. They broke 3 tv’s, bed frames, coffee tables and more. This made a long distance high stress move exponentially worse. I gave them one star because there are no options for negative stars. Customer service is terrible. No answer, left multiple messages. Claims process is long and frustrating and completely unsatisfactory. We have no option except to hire a lawyer.

Long-distance move from Phoenix, AZ to Vancouver, WA

Read the reviews before booking them

Mom and I had saved up for 6 months in preparation for our move from Arizona to Washington. For a while it was looking like I (who had never driven anything other than a Subaru) would have to drive a massive U-haul for a very difficult drive, while also towing our car behind the truck.

We were relieved when Carefree Movers gave us a quote within our budget.

That turned out to be a lie. Our final quote was 3x what we'd initially been quoted. But I really didn't want to deal with that really long drive on snowy roads while operating a massive vehicle I'd never driven before.

We HAD to pick up keys by the 29th, and Carefree movers could only arrive for moving day on the 27th. We had only 2 days to pack everything in the truck and what was left over in our car, then drive all the way from Arizona to Washington by 6pm on the 29th. We were on a tight schedule and didn't have time or money to find alternatives.

They arrive on moving day and they pack the truck. It's been several hours past when we wanted to hit the road and they haven't even gotten half our stuff packed. Then they tell us they've packed all that they can (the truck was only half full) and they can't take anymore of our stuff.

We ended up leaving a lot of stuff in Arizona that was really painful to leave behind because we just didn't have enough room in our car and we didn't have time or money to get something else to take the rest.

We were stuck without furniture for well over a week. It's pulling teeth to reach anyone about our truck. We were told we'd have 24 hours notice when the truck was coming, but we got a call that the delivery was happening that day.

The truck driver tells us they can't get the 18-wheeler close enough to our apartment so we'll have to higher a shuttle (something I see happening to other people who were saddled with this company). He also tells us he'll only unload the truck once, and we can either have him unload it into the shuttle or unload it into the apartment. "After that, my job's done," he said, throwing up his hands. I didn't even want to give him the money. I was very glad I didn't give him the money I'd gotten to pay him for unloading the truck.

Like many other reviewers, many of the boxes were damaged. Either water damage or they were crushed.

I ended up having to drive a U-haul anyway because that's the only shuttle we could get on such short notice.

I wish I had just used U-haul from the start. We could have extended the drive from 2 days to 5. We ended up spending more on their services and the shuttle then we would have spent for the extra nights in a motel and hiring movers on either end.

I'm going to every review website I can find about them to write about this terrible experience. I want others to learn from my mistakes.

The worst experience ever

This is a pitiful moving company I wish i could give them no stars at all.

I paid more than I had originally been estimated. They rang saying the would be at my house 8am/12pm the guys turned up at 5pm. I was on vacation when they delivered my stuff. They left all my stuff in the garage and didn’t assemble my furniture as I was told. I have pieces of a queen bed missing and desk. No one answer my calls when I ring. Its shameful

I hate that I ever booked them

The customer service here is trash. Don’t even use the broker I use which was Beyond Van Lines. I feel they should have known better then to bring these people my way. I’ma single female who needed help moving and I would have been better off buy new stuff or driving a u-haul truck my self (which was cheaper). I’m still waiting on my furniture and etc. been waiting 5 days for them to deliver and after looking at the reviews might be longer. They don’t communicate with you at all. This company needs to be no longer. I had to book hotels so I would sleep on the floor due to me moving to a brand new city. They confirmed with me the 19th of Feb got delivery. It’s now the 24th. I had to buy an air mattress. I started a new job with limited clothes because they also have my clothes. As you can imagine I’ve cried every night. I have that a company like this exist.

Long-distance move from Mary Esther, FL to Iowa City, IA

A very Fraudulent and Deceptive Company

Stay away from this company and horrible and nowhere honest. They came from a Broker company from FL, and I moved to Iowa from what I was quoted when the third party showed up with a video, I had to wait three hours before they started moving my belongings. It took them from 6 pm to 9 pm, and they put my furniture and belonging in the warehouse. I had so much damage to my furniture the dresser pieces were broken off and scratched, the futon fame destroyed, and my entertainment someone took my inside shelves to the entertainment center. I had never heard of a moving company that is so dishonest and charged more than was quoted from the beginning.

Word of advice: Always check how much sq footage per truck, and you can estimate through any moving truck like U-haul. Second, go to your Attorney General and make a former complaint; make a complaint with DOT of Transportation, and a moving company cannot charge someone 45,000 or 18,000. It happened to other people from the reviews I have read. Horrible, and what happens to elderly couples or single senior citizens? A horror of company. Trust me, I would have police and others present, and this is not something they can do to others and get away with it.

One has to have a mansion to charge somebody that amount beyond words of insanity. Contact Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. 1-888-832-5660. In addition, always go for comprehensive insurance and contact your renter insurance. These crooks and the company should be shut down, and new moving laws that took effect in June 2022

Always make sure you are not dealing with a broker from the beginning. They bid you so low and raise you again, which is illegal unless you add a few items. That is your quote if a third party comes in and they cannot charge you against the law. Contact your DOT from the state you moved from and from the state you went to. Make severe complaints to the Attorney General's office from both states you came and went to. Consumers: Let the buyer beware: I learned a powerful lesson and received education from it. Rent a truck and find a few guys to move heavy pieces, load it up, and find someone to help take them in. Trust me; we, the People, not these ripped-off companies, want to destroy your life. I wouldn't pay them a dime.

The worse movers

We contracted with a broker that assigned us to carefree movers. They came out to the home did a video walkthrough and we were given a quote that changed 3 more times. They demanded payment in cash one month before delivery acted like they were desperate calling multiple times while we had to Zelle them money daily. Felt like a scam. Very stressful when you are moving 1400 miles away. Furniture damaged no concern told us to file a claim. This is not a trust worthy company !

Dishonest, unprofessional, fraudulent, added charges upon pick up

I agree with other reviews that this company should be investigated and shut down. I deeply regret having any contact with Carefree Movers and recommend you avoid them at all costs.

First of all, they were 8 hours late in picking up my belongings. 8 hours. On a Saturday. And during this period, they would not answer my phone calls. Upon arrival, they driver decided I had more inventory that initially listed, even though I actually removed items from my inventory. I was forced to pay an additional 33% or would lose my deposit. They also wouldn't let me select better insurance in the event of an accident, which I understand was my legal right. I would be happy to swear in a court of law that I only signed their contract under extreme duress.

One of the drivers admitted to me that it was company policy to up-charge upon pick-up but there was nothing he could do.

The men then treated my belongings very poorly. They even charged me for wrapping items and then neglected to wrap those very items!

My belongings were delivered well past the delivery window, but because my move was so small, they owe me almost nothing for the trouble they put me through.

When my possessions did finally arrive, everything of value was damaged in some way. All the boxes were sprayed with some disgusting lemon scent too.

During the entire process, Carefree Movers did not answer the phone or return my calls. Nor they did answer emails with more than one cursory sentence.

I had to go through a lengthy claims process to try to get the money they owe me for late delivery and damaging my furniture. The claims adjustor says they owe me $65, but I have to pay to get the agreement notarized, and there is no mechanism by which to force Carefree Movers to pay me.

I wish I had rented a U-Haul and driven my things across the country myself. I would have been tired and sore, but at least all my favorite belongings wouldn't be damaged. Do yourself a favor and find a moving company that isn't a criminal organization like Carefree Movers.

DO NOT USE. Getting ready to contact a lawyer.

I am already extremely worried about our stuff, and now we are being told different information EVERY TIME WE CALL.

On April 11th, 2023, I was told by Gina with dispatch that they had 21 days to get our stuff to us. That would bring us to May 2nd.

Then, on April 19th, I was told by Gina that our stuff had been loaded, the truck was on it's way and we should hear from them in the next 24 to 48 hours. I did not hear from them, so I called them on Friday, April 21st in the midday. Barron confirmed they were in transit and I should hear from them at the beginning of the following week.

The beginning of the following week comes and goes, so I call again. I speak with Gina again and she said it looks like they are loading the truck and had been assigned a driver. I said that last week she told me that they were already in transit. There was no direct answer from her regarding that.

So, I called again today to let them know that if we don't see our stuff in the next 6 days, they would hear from our lawyers (I said the next 6 days because we are coming up on the 21 day mark). The lady on the phone said, "No, we have until May 23rd to get it to you. We have 21 business days to get it to you."

Now we've gone from 3-7 days, to 30 days, to 30 business days.

You CANNOT trust anything this company says. They are a nightmare. They also said that they would give my mother my things at the house listed, and that they would issue her the check. I wrote them an email giving them my authorization to drop off the stuff at the house with my mom or dad. I am writing that here to cover my tracks.

Below is my first review and I will keep posting reviews until I see ALL of my things in one piece.

Carefree Movers are so rude and will not get back with you unless you hound them. I talked to a man named JOHN, who yelled at me and my mother. On the day of moving from Nashville to Los Angeles, we were quoted $5,500 after being told it would cost $2,900. All the driver took was a video to give us the price assessment. We fought back on the price and I’m doing so, we found out that my stuff had been left at some warehouse in Georgia. They NEVER let us know. I found out because I texted the guy who I thought was the driver. It would not surprise me if they lost some of my stuff, if we now have bed bugs, or if my things are damaged. But I’m 100% ready to sue this company and make sure they never put anyone else in this position again. Be warned: This company WILL take advantage of you, they will never get back with you, they will leave your stuff in the middle of nowhere without you knowing. Use a different company.

Consumer Alert on BBB / Class Action Pending

CareFree Movers Inc now has an active alert on the natl BBB for suspicious financial activity and delivery mismanagement. They run a capacity re-estimation scheme with website campaigns that frequently target veterans/service families (the VA's OPAL transport and logistics arm has been notified) and seniors (AARP has been asked to post a warning); extensive problems are reported at delivery (IF your items are delivered) and include: missing/stolen items, excessive damage to personal property, and aggressive/hostile practices where unprofessional staff berate owners, badger them into additional fees (i.e., for packing materials) and refuse to reassemble items that have been taken apart.

A class action is being explored; you may be contacted and are welcome to reach out. CareFree operates under many names in many states; most commonly: CareFree Interstate, CareFree Moving & Storage, CareFree Relocation, Affordable Transfer, Lucky's Transfer & Storage, and S&M Relo.

It is unclear whether moving brokers are negligent for continuing their partnerships with CareFree or complicit in their schemes. Brokers currently and actively engaged with/supporting CareFree include: Allegiance Moving and Storage, Emerald Van Lines, Great American Moving Systems, Empire Moving Groups, ACMG, US Moving and Storage, National Movers, Atlantic Movers, and All Coast Movers. Consumers are strongly encouraged to work with direct movers wherever possible to avoid upsell scams and shakedown tactics.

In my own move, from OR to MN, I fell victim to the "late arrival / dramatic upsell based on capacity / falsified bill of lading (with duplicate items, imaginary items, and mismeasurements) scheme" with refusal to load if I didn't comply. Although my fleecing was fairly minor (less than $2,000), my items have not been delivered (after pickup on 5/8); customer service is non-existent but, since I have nothing to unpack, I've got loads of time to work with the authorities and it's "game on". Save yourself and warn others.

DO NOT USE! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

DO NOT USE. They will sell you on a low rate but I am paying double what was quoted.

The movers were EXTREMELY unprofessional, almost getting into a fist fight and openly rolling joints and smoking pot while loading. It took them 8 hours to load when it should have taken 4 tops. If you call to complain they will tell you to just send them an email.

You will be told you should get your stuff within a week throughout the whole process but DON'T BELIEVE THEM. It's now been 9 days and the movers they use just confirmed that my stuff is sitting in a warehouse in the city it was picked up in, they still don't have a driver, and the earliest we will get our stuff is another 2 weeks.

We went this route because we couldn't believe the price and thought that since it was comparable to doing it ourselves this would be a better, easier option. WRONG. You get what you pay for. Do not trust the positive reviews. They have to be written by them. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Move

I checked the internet and thought I had called a mover, Metro Hop, gave them my info and they said no problem. Gave them $1,000 deposit. The quote they gave based on furniture and 30 boxes. About a week before move, called to verify info and I told them we should increase boxes to 35 and to add 3 TV’s. They charged me an additional $300. We set the move loading for Friday or Saturday and unload Sunday. I was told that that that shouldn’t be a problem. Next I get an email from CareFree Moves. They said they will be there on Friday to load between 8 & 12 and they would call before they came. They never called or showed. I called customer service 3 or 4 times and got the runaround. They then called at 9am on Saturday and were there to load. They walked around the apartment looked at the boxes that I would need to pay $2,000 cash or money order, more because they couldn’t haul that amount of weight. They could move for the amount of the bid, but wouldn’t be able to move all of the items. I had to be at my destination Sunday,450miles away, to sign the lease and get keys for new apartment. They then told me they wouldn’t unload on Sunday and that company would contact me about unload. I called every day that next week and was told that a driver had not been assigned and they would be in contact. The the second quote was based 33 medium boxes and furniture and TV’s. The actual boxes I had moved was 28 small boxes and 8 medium boxes. I know I was stupid, but the time crunch I was under, as well as CareFree Moves, I was screwed. Stay as far away from these people!

Long-distance move from Prescott Valley, AZ to Erie, PA

Horrible ugly experience, deserve minus 10 stars

This company was assigned to me by a broker company. I did not know what I was getting into. For four months I dealt with the broker company, until one week prior to my move. Carefree Movers contacted me one day prior to the move, sent a rep over to video tape everything I had to move, and was told all would be fine. I was told by the broker company a moving van would come, load my life's belongings up, pick up another household and head east, 3 to 5 days behind me. I have documentation of every date, person I spoke with and details of the conversation.

I had 5 friends there to attest to how rude they all were. They kept yelling at me, dropping totes as they were going up the ramp, totally disrespectful. A month later, my belongs were at long last scheduled to arrive, they kept saying they didn't have another house lined up to share the van, then they had to find a driver, etc. excuse after excuse. I kept reiterating they were to unload and assemble the furniture as they had promised months earlier.

The driver showed up alone, 5 hours after he said he would be here, then went to a sporting goods store, and found 3 local college students to unload my stuff!!

Then, 20 % of my belongings were not on the truck, only one part of the bed was unloaded. It took me 3 weeks of calls to finally get some vague answers. No one would give me any help. When it was delivered, again, no assistance in unloading, just the young driver. AND, once again, only half of my belongings were on the truck. He tried to unload items that were not mine, and wasn't pleased when I insisted they go back on the truck.

I spent weeks inventorying my belongings, I kept getting the run around with customer service. Finally, they outsourced their customer service dept. After several more weeks of trying to fill out the claims, they quit returning my calls and texts. I had 5 different numbers to call. No responses to my texts, either.

The claim form was a nightmare to fill out, I even had a tech support company assist me three of the five times I tried.

THEY STOLE over $5000 of my belongings!! They were of no help whatsoever. The online claim form kept crashing on me,, I was not allowed to fill out paper forms.

DO NOT DEAL WITH CAREFREE MOVERS. THEY ARE THIEVES AND ARE HORRIBLE TO WORK WITH. THEY DESERVE TO BE DRIVEN OUT OF BUSINESS.

Long-distance move from Foley, AL to Grand Rapids, MI

The absolute worst

Don't let your moving company broker your move to Carefree Movers. Nothing went well with my elderly mothers move to assisted living. Pick up was 4 hours late, delivery was a MONTH after pickup (2 weeks after promise date), they lost 2 furniture pieces and a wardrobe box of coats and clothes (difficult to replace), and they damaged multiple items including antique furniture. And, they increased the cost of the move - nearly doubling the original cost.

They made a difficult situation so much worse.

Horrible experience + Late delivery

I would never recommend Carefree Movers to anyone. All the process has been a nightmare, very stressful, and I believe there are much better companies to work with.

The delivery is being the worst part, even if I thought it couldn’t be worse.

They require up to 30 business days to deliver a shipment, it’s been 60 BUSINESS DAYS so far and they don’t even provide a date for the delivery.

I requested my delivery for May 22, today is August 12.

It’s just insane, disrespectful, and nobody from the company cares.

When I call, they never provide any updates. I spoke to a supervisor once because there is no manager available. I’ve called more than 10 times. I’ve sent 20+ emails and they replied to two, with the same information, that they don’t know the delivery date.

I don’t know what else to do to receive my belongings, they have everything I own, all my clothes, all my furniture, my important items, and they pretend this is just normal.

They don’t even inform the address of the storage.

Do not trust this company, they have no respect or consideration for anyone.

Long-distance move from Phoenix, AZ to Chesterland, OH

Overcharged

This company charged me almost double of what was quoted on my binding estimate. Didn't get a call from them until the day I had to be out of my house, so I had no choice but to agree to pay them. ($9290.24) Didn't have a choice of moving companies. The moving broker picked this one. Now over one year later, from Aug 2022, they won't even pay me the $60.00 owed to me for lost/damaged items after sending them a copy of the settlement of claim form I had to have notorized and send to them. Never recommend this company or you will have problems. They will never call you back, either.

Long-distance move from Minnesota to Florida

Terrible company!

I selected Allegiance Moving & Storage for my MN to FL move with interim storage. They subcontracted CareFree Movers, Inc in Ames IA. I provided a very detailed inventory of my items to move with measurements etc and they provided the move estimate. On the day of the move, 1 mover showed up in a small truck and stated that I had a lot more stuff that he had room for on his truck. I had told them exactly what I had so he called the company and made arrangements to have him take half the items to Ames IA that night and return the next night, making what I thought was a half day move into an all weekend commitment. They also charged me for the extra items which were contained in my inventory. Then, while the mover is standing in my home and I'm obligated to be out a few days later because the home had been sold they presented me with the terms of the move compensation which is based on the weight of the items versus actual replacement cost. This is much much more favorable to the mover. I had no choice but to sign it as I needed to get out of house. Awful company, they lost 2 items and damaged several pieces of furniture. My items were then put in storage for several months until completion of my new home in Florida. They showed up on Dec 23rd after dark insisted on a final cash payment before they would even open the truck to verify that it was my furniture and items and that it was in good shape. I ended up submitting a claim through Moving Claims and received an offer for $75 for damages I estimated at over $2000. I signed and returned the letter on June 25, 2023 and have not yet received the settlement check. They do not respond to attempts to contact them via phone or email. I just submitted a complaint to BBB. My recommendation would be to not do business with this company AND to be very careful when contracting a company like Allegiance if they plan to subcontract. I wouldn't even give this company 1 star except there was no option for anything lower.
