A Moving broker Empire Moving Group used Carefee Moving for our move from Memphis to Pittsburgh. 26ft straight truck rented from Penske rental trucks. The broker and moving company are all in it together. Still waiting on furniture. Pick up May 17. Husband is handicap veteran and we are staying with family that has stairs. Can hardly climb them. Paying rent on apartment we can’t move into. A complete nightmare. We are senior citizens and they saw us coming. Started at $4000 + to $9000 +. How much more?They all need to investigated.

All of the above reviews are dead on accurate! Scott at Atlantic Movers quoted me 8K and then 12K after I had to add items. After me paying a deposit they must have contracted Care Free Movers for the job. The day of the move Carefree shows up with a 26' Penske rental truck with a husband and wife team to load knowing full well the truck was to small. So the couple went around my home and property video taping everything. They informed that the cost to move would go up and boy did it! To the tune of $43K. They knew I had to be out of our old house and did not have time to find someone. Their head packer and her "professional crew" took two days to pack our items. When they were done I discovered they forgot to pack several expensive items. After being on the road several days we get to our new home only to find out the "professionals" put our stuff in storage even though they were told not to. The issue was resolved and the stuff was delivered......

Our stuff was crammed into the truck with many crushed boxes. Immediately after they started unloading the truck we started to see the real damage. It look like a bomb went off in the truck ruining almost all our furniture. Being a disabled veteran it completely broke my heart watching my wife just completely give up and cry. I would like to get together with other dissatisfied customers and sue this company out of business. My next step will be with the better business bureau and then my lawyer. Their solution is to file a damage claim where I know they will pay pennies to the dollar.

Carefree decided to hire two guys to unload the fully loaded truck. The driver who loaded the truck sat on his sorry rear end while these poor guys worked their rear ends off. After this day long nightmare the driver calls his boss to try and stiff the workers. They started screaming and hollering at each other ending with the driver flashing a handgun to try and scare them. I am tired now and can no longer keep my focus.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $43000

I am writing this review in every blog, so that someone can read the review and avoid this moving company. I was first approached by a broker company called All Coast Movers and they framed them self as moving company, but later on the day of pick up, they have assigned me to Carefree Movers in Des Moines, which I am not sure if it legit company and I was not able to cancel it because I have already paid $650.00 to All Coast Mover and they said I would not be getting refund. So, with out any choice, I went with Carefree Movers and then they charged me $950.00 on the pickup day instead of $650.00, on what we have agreed. So before making the payment to Carefree Movers, they have asked me to sign the contract in which it says the delivery date is between May 4th 2022 to June 16th 2022. So, I spoke to one of the Carefree Mover guy and asked him about the timeline mentioned in the contract, so he promised me that they would delivery my goods by May 6th or May 7th 2022 and asked me to make the payment which I did and the guy also confirm that he received the payment, (All these conversations are recorded) and when I called the company on May 4th and enquired about the shipping, they said they will do it by end of the month and they were telling me that as per contract, but I told them that guy named Mr. Drew spoke to me from carefree movers initially in which he said he can deliver it by May 6th or 7th (Conversation was recorded). But now they are saying they don't know or have anyone with that name.

So, in order for them to deliver in next 10 business days as promised they are charging me $3000.00 for it.

Which is technically a rip-off.

So beware of these movers.

If anyone is looking for peaceful moving, try and avoid this scammers.

I am pretty sure, they wont be delivering my stuff on time, they will cause more trouble to me since I am writing this review. Also if you look up information about Carefree Movers in "Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration", you will see that they have 11 complaints against this company in 2022 alone.

AVOID this company at all cost. This company took a shipment from AZ and was supposed to deliver it to ME. Its been over a month and no one will tell us where the shipment is. We have tried to call over 50 times in a week span and just get hung up on, told that no one was here today that could help and they just hang up on us when we ask where the house hold goods shipment is. This is clearly a broker and they are holding customers shipments hostage. We have put in a complaint to the FMCSA & BBB to try and locate all the furniture. I hope this company gets shut down. They are thief's and the most unprofessional company I have ever come across. If you want to see your personal possessions again I strongly recommend that you go with a local, independent or valines. NOT A BROKER!!!

This company has no respect for anything you own, they never once answer the phone or email after waiting a month for my items to arrive, finally came at midnight on night, opened the truck and half my things fell out and broke. They gave my the wrong mattress, broke my bed frame, all of my dishes, and destroyed about half of my other items. Not only that but they will uncharge you an INSANE amount, they wont tell you before hand and then put you in financial hardship. They are only trying to get money from you and nothing else. Do not use this company for the love of god

There was a huge delay in receiving my stuff.

When my things finally arrived, my boxes were completely destroyed and all of my major furniture pieces were broken including my couch, nightstand, TV, bar cart, and the legs ripped of my dining table. Everything was dirty and scratched up and the paint was ruined on my barstools. I was charged several hundred dollars more than I was quoted just for them to break all of my belongings.

My move was scheduled such that my things could be delivered the first week of July. They took my stuff on June 21 and upon pickup was the first time I saw the true delivery window: 7/1-8/15. My things did not arrive to my new home until 7/15. I was living with none of my belongings with no idea where they were and no update on them for over three weeks.

My wife and I moved from the Iowa City area to Gulf Shores, Alabama. We actually hired a mover in Florida, but they subcontracted to these "movers". First off, they kept saying they needed more money. THREE times they called and said it was going to cost more money. You have to pay it, or you get NONE of your items back. Our stuff sat in a warehouse in Iowa for a week and a half before they even started moving anything. Either during the move TO the warehouse or while IN the warehouse, half of our items were destroyed, including all of my wife's crystal glassware, which was very carefully packed. Boxes were crushed (including wardrobe boxes). It seriously looked like the tines of a forklift went through them. Boxes were opened. Totes were rifled through, including one that held dirty clothes. Two collectible stuffed dogs that belonged to our young daughter were STOLEN from a completely sealed tote. Stealing toys from children! Tools were stolen. Brand new car mats from two cars were stolen. And to top it off, Carefree Mover's insurance company requires documentation that WE NEVER RECEIVED, so now they won't pay damages. STAY AWAY! Pay more if you have to upfront, but STAY AWAY from these jerks. ZERO STARS!

Worst company ever! The driver's assistant stood in my yard calling me a liar because I said he did not call me 24 hours in advance and tell me what time they were going to arrive (as per the contract) and remind me about payment. He says he did, I know he did not. He just kept calling me a liar and was screaming at me.

Then I supposedly talked to the vice president of the company who told me that he would talk to his employee (yeah, right. Like he would talk to him and I doubt he was the vp). I asked to speak to someone higher than him and he claimed that the owner/president did not talk to customers.

To pay this company I either had to give them over 1600.00 in cash or a postal money order. No other form of payment was accepted. They did not let me write out their name on the MO - they said that the company will do it. I did not get a receipt. I took pics of every single piece of paper that they handed me and that I signed.

On to my items - every single tub was broken and looked like it had been through a war! All the cardboard boxes were broken. I had a trunk that was made by some students of mine about 20 years ago that was completely broken (made of wood) and some of the things inside were broken. This trunk was packed and a blanket was taped around it by the movers. I am missing a huge canvas painting that was made for me by another student a few years ago and is irreplaceable. That was something I was waiting for more than anything else.

It is a good thing I did not have any of my furniture moved here. I imagine it would have been in pieces.

This company should not be called Carefree because they caused a ton of stress for me. There is no reason that it should have been this way. I carefully packed and had all new storage totes and boxes that should not have looked like they were thrown around.

Please do not use them if you possible. They are the worst. They only get a star so that I can post this review.

Oh and I never did get a receipt.
