Long-distance move from Edson, AB to Summerside, PE

Do not use this company!

We are beyond disappointed with AMS and had we known our moving company was going to use them, we would never have gone with them.

There is zero communication or accountability.

No one knows when our stuff is or when we will get it.

We have a house to move into with no belongings.

Do not use this company!

Long-distance move from Saskatoon, SK to Ottawa, ON

Appalling service and terrible experience to say the least.

I will keep this short as we have been 6 months trying to resolve a claim in relation to damaged furniture.
In short:
Movers arrived, one guy in his late 70's and young guy, both who spent the whole time complaining about how bad it is working for AMS.
We gave them the exact address and explained the one way road system at apartment, driver/mover said they were not told about 1 way system and arrived with 80 foot long trailer and blocked road for 3 hours, very irate neighbours and police were called as well, luckily there was a call on radio for all police to attend and they did not return, overall nightmare.
Movers left carpets covered with dirt from snow outside and sidewalk dirt. They were supposed to used temp carpets for wet trolley wheels.
Furniture arrived 2 days later after I took two days off work and flew from Saskatchewan to Ontario to help with the arrival, so I was not there when furniture arrived, Leather furniture was scuffed and tv was missing. Unbelievable.
Seriously do not use this company, Bruce Told me himself claims are ignored!! As for the packing, have a look at the pictures. Also the refused to transport ANY liquid, Zero.
Avoid them at all costs.

Good overall.

They have delivered all my items from Saskatchewan to Boston in couple of weeks, nothing damaged or stolen, all was carefully wrapped, no problems across the border.
I did experience problems others had - one day late for pickup (well things happen on the road), poor communication (they do keep in touch though, just relax), charge money right after pickup and before delivery (strange, but again relax).
We all chose them because the quote was cheap (got mine from Relocation Services Canada), other moving companies were offering 2-3 times more than these guys, so you might as well forget those negative moments.
Overall, they do what they are supposed - deliver goods from point A to point B cheap. In the end, I was pleased, so to do these guys a justice I am giving them excellent rating.

International move from Miami, FL to Toronto, ON

The worst moving experience ive ever had.

We used this company to transport our furniture from Florida to Collingwood and it was a complete disaster, despite all of the assurances from AMS that they were the best company for the job!

Firstly, on the day of the move they ran over the allocated elevator time at our condo due to their staff arriving 2.5hrs late (a time that AMS had requested to arrive). Our condo tried to charge us an additional $250 for extra elevator time, AMS refused to pay this but luckily I managed to talk the condo management in to not charging me.

AMS then rushed to complete the move out and damaged nearly all of our furniture in the process. Despite assurances that they take great care with property and that everything would be safely wrapped, their staff arrived without enough wrapping blankets. I explicitly said to their staff on numerous occasions that I didn’t want our new white sofa leaving the apartment without it being wrapped, but when I was then trying to deal with the building management to prevent them charging us for the additional elevator time, AMS staff took the sofa to the truck unprotected.

When I realized what was happening, I went down to the truck and caught them dragging our $5000, 8 month old white sofa across the floor of their rental truck unprotected. At this point I tried to call the AMS office numerous times but there was no response. I called dispatch and informed them of what was happening and they seemed as shocked as I was about the situation and said they would speak to the team.. but by that point it was too late.

As expected, on arrival in Toronto all of the furniture was incredibly dirty and / or damaged:

Sofa: our sofa was covered in black dirt, hand prints, damaged fabric. In addition, one part of the sectional was a completely different color to the other. It looked as if it had sustained water damage

Mattress: The mattress arrived covered in dirt and again appears to have significant dirty water damage on one side

Book Shelf: The book shelf has had one complete shelf torn off and another one partially damaged.

Box Spring: The box spring arrived covered in dirt and stained

Headboard: the headboard was covered in dirty finger prints and has damage to one leg and the trim

Chair: one of our chairs arrived with dirty finger prints over one side

Lamps: three of our lights arrived with damage to the shades. The delivery person said that they should have been boxed. They were attached to the lamps when they were collected and it was not mentioned that they needed to be boxed which we would have done there and then with our other boxed items. Instead, AMS staff removed the shades at some point after collection and damaged them in the process or during shipping.

All of our furniture was less than 8 months old and we have receipts for all of the purchases. We submitted a damage claim for $5200 to AMS and after chasing and chasing for 6 months they finally mailed us a check for $19.

Needless to say, we will be taking legal action now. Please do your homework before using this company.

Long-distance move from Ontario to British Columbia

Do Not Use AMS Transportation.

We hired this company to move my family from Ontario to BC in June 2011. When our stuff had finally arrived we had to pay for them to finish the delivery. The delivery guy complained that he was unaware that there was a single flight of stairs. He did not give me any time to mark off the incoming boxes to make sure that everything was all there, and nothing was damaged. My husband signed the paper only to find out that we were missing several boxes of stuff. Some was my son's books and toys. I also had broken angel collectibles. When I contacted the company the next day, they said that it was too late as my husband signed that all was there. I contacted the BBB, but they were of no help at all. We did not recover our missing items, nor were we reimbursed for our lost or stolen items.

Ohio to BC move.

Do not use this moving company.  We hired relocation services Canada for a move from Ohio, USA to BC, Canada and AMS handled the move.  The dispatch and driver who did the pickup were great and if they had done the entire thing, we would have been happy.  However, Wayne, the dispatch in Calgary who handled our delivery was terrible.  He showed up 1 hour late at the Canada customs clearinghouse after he'd confirmed 10 minutes before our appointment that he would be on time.  On multiple occasions, he told us he would call us to tell us when our delivery time would be.  He did not call us a single time, and when we called him, he denied saying he would call us.  He refused to give us a specific delivery time (he wouldn't even confirm a delivery day until the day before), but instead said the delivery would be late afternoon the day before the delivery ended up coming, so we wasted an afternoon waiting.  He also refused to give us the driver's phone number so we had no way of checking on our delivery time.  Whenever we spoke to him, Wayne was rude and unprofessional. There was damage to a few pieces of furniture, but that was minimal.  If there is any chance that Wayne is handling your move, I would avoid this company.

Long-distance move from British Columbia to Alberta

Terrible Customer Service, Confusion and Lack of Original Info.

We originally went with moving.ca Two Small Men with Big Hearts because they were great to deal with and customer service along with quote was fantastic. I was then told my file was being passed on to Wayne the dispatch at AMS Transportation. They based our weight on the amount of bedrooms being moved, were going to ship our vehicle and the quote was around $4100 from BC to Alberta. The men arrived very nice and eager to help and then the day got longer and longer and they were telling us we had to much stuff and no one told them to bring 3 guys instead of 2. They couldn't bring the vehicle in the same load as promised and sent it days later. Once delivered to the storage locker items had to be taken off the truck and sorted a bit due to being in storage a while. The driver Dan was completely abusive and neurotic, was yelling and swearing at us in front of my daughter about how his job was to empty the trailer and get the F out of there. He was un-willing to help us load the locker like we needed it done. He began belittling us, mocking us and throwing fits about how we were doing things. A video was taken of the driver/mover Dan and forwarded to their head office. We had damaged items and his response was "not my problem!"DO NOT HIRE these people or if your move gets sold to them then cancel it!

Long-distance move from Ontario to Alberta

DONT USE AMS Transportation for Moving.

I hired Relocation Services Canada to move me from  Ontario to Alberta. Relocation Canada contracted my move out to AMS transportation. My contract stated my belongings would arrive in 7-10 business day. My belongings arrived after 15 business days  following several attempts to get them to honor the time spread on the contract. Wayne their rep in Calgary was very rude and in-sensitive to my plight.  When the items arrived several items of furniture and electronics  were damaged, and duly noted by the delivery driver. When I submitted my damaged claim having paid almost $500 for extra insurance coverage, I was offered partial compensation for  some of the damaged items. I have to take them to court to get full compensation. Pay attention to the inventory sheet at pick up  and look for the codes Sc, ch, etc meaning chipped scratched, they assigned these codes to my brand new furniture, luckily they were not damaged during transit. If they were I would not have any claim because by signing the sheet you are agreeing that the items were damaged before pickup. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR RELOCATION, YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Be prepared to wait, and wait and wait..

I used Reloction Services Global, once the deal was done RSG just dropped off the map, I understand that AMS was doing the move but the person who quoted and was eager to earn my business was RSG, would sort of made sense that they'd be my customer service. The biggest problem I had with this tandum was the fact that RSG did specify on the email I got that the movers could take anywhere from 7 to 17 business days but verbally sold me the "fact" that they normally deliver from 5 to 7 days, 10 tops, after the pickup, with that in mind my family and I drove down with 5 day's worth of clothes. 4 weeks later, yes, 4 weeks! and major frustrations afterwards we finally got our stuff. If you do use this company just be aware of the 7-17 business days.

Long-distance move from Nova Scotia to Alberta

I wouldn't recommend.

Im not totally sure how to rate this company.  They weren't good overall, but they did have some good points. I had asked for pick up on a date and they arrived on the organised time and they did a fantasic job of wrapping and protecting everything.  The only issue with the pick up was that they have a key on their inventory list for scratches, dents etc.  They marked on all items that could possibly have scratches that they were scratched on every surface.  This was even on very near new items that were in perfect condition.  It didn't matter as nothing was damaged but it is something to watch. Our problems came on delivery.  At the time of pickup we didn't know the possesion date of our new house.  So we asked them to store for a few weeks, when I knew the date I called straight away and I thought I was booking in a delivery.  Turns out it was a waste of a phone call. when I called a few days before the date I required my gear Wayne told me he would look at it tomorrow and see when he would be able to fit it in.  This is where it started.  We got a severe lack of communication, when he did answer his phone it was alway "it will be sometime late next week" or something of that description.  There was even one time he told me it will be next wednesday afternoon, then there was no more communication and we could not get hold of him.  So ever hopeful I waited at the house all day with the hope our gear would show up.  Of course it didnt.  We even offered to come pick our gear up from Calgary(we are in Edmonton) and they wouldn't entertain that idea. Eventually we found numbers for Waynes superior and we did get a date set etc.  4 weeks after we wanted it. When they did finally deliver he contacted a guy with a tractor trailer, which was completely inappropriate for delivery to residential propertys.  So WE had to arrange for a smaller truck to come and tranfers the stuff to, to actually get it to the house. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this company as it was a source of real frustration.  however we did get all gear delivered in good condition eventually.  So the feelings of  anger you get when you are waiting for your things do mainly disappear once you have them. Please note I did not actually choose this company, I booked my move through Global Relocation Services and they farmed my move out to AMS.  This was done without my knowledge. Also at some stage early in the process I asked for a receipt, the response I got was most people just look at their credit card bill, when I mentioned that wasn't really what I was after, they said they were going to get back to me, never did.  I later had bigger worries with this company so didn't bother with this battle.

I woul NOT use this company!

Lack of professionalism and poor email etiquette. Did not meet agreed upon delivery timeline. Damaged items (water, mold & broken). No acknowledgement of responsibility. Missing items. Delivered another customer's items. Online satellite tracking system (GlobalCom) tool advertised in person and on website is non-existent. Contents moved from boxes into another.

The laundry list of things that went wrong using this company is too long to go over.

AMS worked in tandem with The Relocate Group, aka relocationservicescanada.com or relocategroup.com. Between the various aliases and organization it was impossible to get anyone to take responsibility.

The primary culprits - Jim Dixon (the dispatcher), Wayne (the driver), Russell Gooding (the account manager), Kendra (the service rep).

Beware- TLC Movers actually subcontract to this awful company.

As with other reviewers, we did not realize we were booking with AMS, and never would have done so given their awful online reviews. We instead booked with TLC Movers from Canada, who never mentioned the name AMS during our extensive contact prior to booking, and then stopped responding to our concerns after they got our deposit.

I could write a novel on how awful AMS was, but I'll just post a few of the highlights:
1) The pick-up driver called us two days before our scheduled delivery to tell us that a) they may no longer have room for our belongings and b) that they were coming a day earlier. When we tried to tell them this was impossible, as we had the busy street blocked for another day after much paperwork, and that we would not be ready, we were told we either could accept the early move or have it cancelled. He yelled at me and my husband, and also berated the size of our move as barely worth his time.

2) Extremely poor communication. Emails and phone calls went unanswered about pick up and delivery dates, even when I explained that I was waiting to book an international flight based on their delivery date.

3) Significant damage to our belongings. On top of many crushed boxes that random bystanders commented on, they literally smashed the leg off a desk, lost parts to our bedframe, and somehow got our couch wet.

4) The pick up driver labelled everything as damaged, and most of it wrong (e.g., boxes labelled as furniture and vice versa). Several numbered items were missing but we weren't able to figure out what they were since nothing was labelled correctly.

5) The movers got into an argument with another tenant, and our building manager told us that AMS had actually been banned from our building because of their poor service and mistreatment of residents. They only reason our move was allowed is because we mistakenly though it was TLC actually doing a move.

Don't make the same mistake we did- make sure the company you are booking with is NOT subcontracting out to another poorly reviewed company. I suspect this consumer trickery is the only way companies like AMS stay in business.

AMS movers - unreliable, untrustworthy, unethical.

This company dropped my large, oak table while unloading - a mover had to go to the hospital because the ramp had not been properly attached and the table landed partly on him. The man in charge made note on our furniture release forms that the table had been dropped, he then told me that I had to sign each page or they couldn't leave, and that the claims department would accept his note.  I just received a snarky letter with the furniture release forms highlighted where I had signed (and in other spots) informing me that because I had signed for the furniture, I had taken responsibility for the damage. Never use this company or its associated moving service provider - Relocation Services Canada.

Do not go with AMS or Relocation Services Canada.

In dealing with the broker Relocation Services Canada I got the impression they had the best deal with all transporters and we ended up giving these guys the ok to pick our stuff up in Trois-Rivières, QC and deliver to Kelowna, BC. We paid the broker the upfront down payment and then we were told, pretty much, now deal with the dispatcher, Tina, here's her number. The loading went really well, the guys were fast, professional and courteous. We were told that they would load another shipment on in Ottawa (to Saskatchewan) so we were first on and last off. The broker told and wrote 5 to 15 business days for delivery. AMS told us they would weigh and we needed to pay full amount up front with credit card. We thought it would be a day or two before being weighed but it took over a week to find out what the weigh was. Of course the account receivable lady wanted to be paid but didn't know when the shipment would arrive So she transferred me to the dispatcher Tina who told me 'I'll know next week when it'll arrive'.  After a few messages and 2 WEEKS LATER, I finally got a hold of Tina who admitted my shipment was still in Toronto, on standby, waiting for another shipment to be combined with mine before getting it to me. Of course, the credit card payment had gone through and there is no way they will get this stuff out to me before AN ENTIRE MONTH! When I called the broker to complain, he referred me to the dispatcher, I sent an email and simply got a reply with a link to make a claim. No apology, not a single follow up to let me know the status.. I now have to run after these guys to get my stuff.. A car and almost 10,000 lbs of merchandise. We've been in the Okanagan now for two weeks with a 4 year old daughter who has no bed, not a fork to eat with.. And let's not forget the interview I had with no business suit on hand. I don't know when it'll arrive but do not use these guys, don't even bother to deal with Relocations Services Canada or Global.  A bad. EXPERIENCE from the time they got our money, almost $ 9000..

Stay away from this company.

I would highly recommend not using this company. Contractual commitments in regards to delivery pick up and receipt were missed on both counts. Communication with sales and dispatch was poor to non-existent. The exception was when the company was looking for payment. AMS did keep telling me they would keep me informed of what was happening in regards to delivery of goods but never did. They missed every callback promised. Payment policy required full payment before receipt of goods which is contrary to all three former companies that I have utilized in the past. Standard practice with these former companies was nominal deposit; 50% of balance paid when goods picked up;and remaining balance paid when good delivered to home. Lastly the goods were delivered by one driver who was not aware that one item was an antique piano. If my landscapers did not arrived during delivery and had not been willing to assist with getting this item in the house, I am wondering how it would have been delivered. The AMS driver would not have been able to deliver this heavy item on his own. Not a company I would recommend or ever utilize again. .

Long-distance move from Ontario to Nova Scotia

Disappointing.

I would never recommend this company. First I contacted a company to come in to give me an estimate. (I don’t remember this company name), they were very polite. I accepted their estimate and gave them 20% down which was all that was required. I guess they contract to other Transport Company and unlucky I was I received AMS Transportation. The day before my scheduled pick up I received a call from the truck driver to let me know what time he would be. The day of my pick up he called me again to let me know where he was and how long he would be. So the transport truck arrived at my front door and the guy introducing himself was not the guy that called me the night before or that day. (Didn’t let him in my house). We both called AMS transport to speak to TINA (a dispatcher) who told me that she did not know who the guy was and that it was my fault trying to tell me I must have booked with another transport company as well. About half hour later the first truck driver called me and explained that TINA never received his confirmation email to accept the load so she got another driver to come in. RED FLAGS I SHOULD HAVE CANCELED ON THE SPOT. If she didn’t know what was going on how am I supposed to trust these people with my items. Once that was clear the truck driver was inventorying that home with stickers and the movers showed up. These guys were great!! Kind, hardworking and DIDN’T BREAK ANYTHING. Once the company had all my items at their lot. The next day TINA calls and says they will not release my items until they receive full payment. (WHAT THIS WASN’T AGREED TO). Frustrated I paid her in full the morning. She told me that my shipment will be gone in the next day or two. After numerous calls and voice messages and emails NO ONE likes to call back or reply. I am 65 and my husband is 72 and we slept on the floor with no furniture for 3 weeks. Once we finally got a hold of TINA she gave us STEVE’S number apparently this is the gentlemen who has my items. Well Steve wasn’t happy at all anytime we called him. Once he showed up at my house he was RUDE and NOT pleasant. He was in the truck throwing my items on the driveway, yelling at the movers and continued to tell ever one to hurry up so he can leave. Well with this all done I have a ripped couch, missing items and a number of broken items that are from home country that will never be replaced. All my items were bubble wrapped and wrapped with fabric sheets all in plastic totes. Again AMS TRANSPORTATION doesn’t answer there phone. I am now out of my insurance they claim to cover for damaged items. If you can avoid this transport company they are nothing but headaches and stress.  .

Moving satisfaction.

I moved from London, On. to Sherwood Park, AB two years ago. I am moving back to London,On. and I am looking for the services of AMS transportation again. I am satisfied with their service, the only negative part I can say the arrival was a little longer than expected, but we advised that that could happen so we were prepare.
If we look back at the positive things that happened I would say that it was worth it; even they helped us to assemble the beds. I think that if you look for the good things in people that is exactly what you are going to find in response, and these people were very good.

Rip Off / Scam Artists!!

RIP OFF / SCAM ARTISTS!! Save your money and some major hassle and DO NOT hire this company whatever you do!! I did a lot of research and carefully chose Good Ol' Boys Moving Company for our move from out west to Ontario. After reading some reviews online and talking over the phone with Jesse, who assured me that the movers/labourers who worked for the company were locals and not dumb, dirty-for-hire contractors off the street .. We got the EXACT opposite. Unbeknownst to us, Good Ol' Boys actually sub-contracted out AMS for the move (a company I never would have hired based on the multitude of horrible reviews), and things kept going downhill from there. I don't even know where to begin, but here's a rundown of the issues we encountered:

1) When our items were picked up, it was obvious that the two labourers working had no idea what they were doing and insisted that our leather couch wouldn't make it out of our house. Obviously it made it into the house a year prior, and my husband had to remove the door unassisted and instruct the movers on how to get it out without scratching or damaging it.

2) We weren't as lucky when our stuff was delivered, as the dirty, dumbass labourers this time were even MORE careless and inexperienced. When the same leather couch was moved in, the labourers ignored my husband's instructions on how to angle in the sofa appropriately (again, these guys were completely friggin’ clueless) and they totally ignored him, slamming the couch into the wall and creating a large hole, leaving scuffs and tears on the sofa. As if this weren't enough damage, there was a large stain on the sofa that hadn't been there before that STANK to high heaven.. Based on how stinky and sweaty the movers were, we can only assume it was from some kind of spill or from the dirty, sweaty blankets they used to cover our furniture with.

3) Where do they hire these labourers from?! The night before our stuff was scheduled to arrive, I get a call from dispatch asking me if I 'know anyone in the area who they could hire to help the driver unload.' Astounded, I said that's what I hire you guys for!! Clearly they just pick these guys up from wherever/whenever as they are dumb as nails, have no concept of how to appropriately and safely move furniture, etc. We watched them roll a dresser packed with stuff, head over end, out of the truck .. Who does that?! What’s even worse, they just laughed after driving our couch into the wall and creating a large hole. SO unprofessional and inconsiderate.

4) I advised both Jesse from Good Ol' Boys and my contact with AMS about the damage done to the couch and that I wanted to open a claim. After following all the instructions and attaching several photos (and having to follow up a couple times through phone/email as I never got a response initially), I received a letter in the mail letting me know that because of the $0.60 per pound of insurance they offered, the value of the 300-lb couch was $61, and because of their $300 deductible policy, my balance was therefore 'zero.'

I had known about the $0.60 per pound / $300 deductible insurance policy when I booked the move, however misunderstood the exact parameters. I had assumed that that insurance coverage would be good up until the total amount of your move (i.e.) our 3500-lb move would equal approximately $2100 maximum coverage. Instead, the letter indicated that as the couch weighed only 300 lbs. that's how they determined it's value as $61. Even if we had purchased additional insurance, as that's an option you are advised of, why bother as you're pretty much paying to replace a damaged item yourself then, and taking a chance as you don't know what will be damaged and how?! It’s completely and utterly ludicrous and a RIP OFF.

This was a genuine leather, not bonded, couch that was originally purchased for over $2000, and instead of reliable moving service we were presented with as stupid as you could imagine, inconsiderate guys who mocked and made fun of the significant damage they caused … And a letter in the mail saying the value of our couch was ‘$61’ - but we wouldn’t even be getting that pocket change back because of how they rig their policies.

I CANNOT say enough how much we regretted booking with these guys … Please don’t make the same mistake. Moving is stressful enough without adding more needlessly.

Warning! Warning! Warning!

These people are scammers. they say one thing, and do another. They smashed my $3000 TV and damaged a dozen other pieces of furniture. Boxes arrived squished and furniture scraped. They were incredibly aggressive and rude and when I filed a complaint, I could never get a human being on the phone. Their emails took weeks in between responses and the check I received to replace the TV? $15.

That's right $15.

Do not trust these people with your belongings and tell everyone else you know that they're awful, awful human beings. Honestly, I don't know how they sleep at night.

Inappropriate Moving Staff.

Like many others, I did not book AMS. I booked with Bruce from Regional Moving. Before I get too deep into the review, I want to say that overall I was happy with AMS, though not particularly happy with Bruce, but later I'll touch on the piece that brought me to two stars.

Yes, it did take WAY longer than I expected to get my belongings. Bruce told me that with a May 1 pick-up I "should" be able to get it by May 7, but in my naivete I did not make him commit to that date. After I found out AMS was going to be moving me, I googled them and found all the negative reviews. I told Bruce on April 30 that my main concern was when I would get my belongings, and he said he'd call Monday morning and find out. STILL WAITING FOR YOUR CALL, BRUCE.

So they picked my stuff up on May 1. That went well. They were quick, they were polite, and they went out of there way to super extra wrap everything to make sure it arrived safely. Step 1 complete - I'm happy.

May 2 I call them to pay, and it's roughly what I was expecting. It was a few hundred more than the quote, but nobody came out to do an in-person quote and I probably had an inaccurate idea of how much my stuff weighed.

May 3 I move to Denver. I get my new apartment, I'm chilling on my air mattress, I'm ready to get moved in prior to starting my new job May 7. I call and ask when I can expect shipment. I find out nothing has even crossed the Canadian border yet (I lived 40 minutes from the border), and that it "might" make it on the weekend truck. I'm told to call back the next week. I call on Tuesday of the following week, May 8. They tell me it's crossing the border that day, and they'll know mid-week when they can schedule delivery. I call them a lot. I want to stress that they were ALWAYS polite. I was disappointed that I didn't end up getting my things until May 14, a full 14 days after pick-up, but I can deal with that, whatever.

All of my stuff showed up, and it showed up in the condition it left in. Good news.

Bad news - The driver, Phil, was a terrible person. Rick was great. Loved Rick. Rick started moving my stuff in and I guess Phil didn't know that I'd let Rick in, so Phil called me and after I explained that Rick was already inside he asked if Rick needed help. Rick said no. Phil said "You must be a pretty girl if he's saying he doesn't need help". So now I'm uncomfortable, but society has groomed me to deal with [EDIT] comments like this, so I roll with it. Later, Phil does come up. He says "oh yeah, I see why Rick didn't want help". Okay bro, cool it. Then, Phil can't figure out how to put my bed together. He asks me to help, which I do. The cadence there was I explained where a piece went and he would then explain to me where the piece went. At one point he said "After this you'll know how to put your own bed together!" That comment bothered me because I paid for a service, and then was asked to help, and then I basically did the work, and then I was belittled, so I responded "I don't need to know how to put it together, that's what I paid movers for".

Phil tries to attach my headboard to my bed, and it didn't come with the bed, so it doesn't fit. At this point he says "This is going to be really loud unless you're celibate". In NO [EDIT] WORLD is that appropriate, but especially not when you're in a place alone with a woman.

Overall, Phil was inappropriate, a little creepy, and other women might have been scared to be in a place alone with him. (Rick went back to the truck because I sensed he also hated Phil and didn't want to be around him more than necessary.) Phil should not be working for this company.

AMS, stop contracting with Phil.

Long-distance move from Nova Scotia to Alberta

Bad customer service.

They hire marketing people under fake company names like Regional Moving and Storage, to hunt people for them. There are only 3 or 4 people who run the company. You will call several times until someone answers. He will ask you for your phone number and promise to call you back. But never does that.

Give yourself some peace of mind and stay away from them. They will overcharge you. I was qouted 2190 and they charged me 2604.

This review another review for Bruce. Who was hired buy AMS under another company name to hunt people for AMS:

International move from Cleveland, OH to Montreal, QC

Buyer Beware

I generally do not write derogatory reviews but rather vote with my pocket and elect not to give my business to them as my experience can be an outlier. However, this company seems to capitalize on the fact that repeat customers, especially for international moving, is not a part of their business plan and they treat you as such. I was moving from Ohio to Quebec, a distance of around 500 miles, a move size of a small 2 bedroom apartment. During the initial discussions, we were told the move would take 3-5 days. Long story short, it took 25 days of miserable calling, poor customer support and “you will get your shipment when we are ready” attitude. I had taken vacation for 7 days after my pickup date. When it was clear I couldn't just be twiddling my thumbs sitting in my empty new home, I told them to take their time and make sure it is delivered in 14 days and I will return - they were agreeable and said they will keep it in storage and deliver it at that time. So I went back to work in the States. I return on day 14 and they tell me it is my fault the shipment is not delivered as I "did not want the shipment between days 7-14 when they wanted to deliver it." Had we been treated humanely, I actually would have understood this delay. However, a few things frustrated me:

I spoke with 3 people at the call center when things were getting delayed. At the end of almost every conversation, they said they will look into it and give me a call back. I was called back 1/6 times, the one time was the manager calling angrily on the phone saying that nothing was promised to me and that it was my fault my luggage had been delayed and it was actually my fault for not being available from day 1-25.

I was told when signing the final contract on my moving day that the “shipping delivery date” should be left empty as the exact date cannot be specified. But if I had discussed something with the dispatch, it will be honored. 25 days later, I saw this same contract that I signed and I now see “carrier’s convenience” written over the delivery date.

All of my boxes, furniture and bags have grime/moisture on them. Some of my bags have black footprints on them. It was a stormy few weeks while my furniture was in their storage and I wonder if there was a leak.

Long story short, my experience was that AMS is a company once they have your money and furniture, they don’t care at all as the chance for repeat business in this industry is low anyways. If you have no choice but to go with AMS, I would advise that: you do not make the full payment until your goods are delivered. Write in every empty part of the contract as they will write things in there AFTER you have signed. Once you have signed, request a copy of the contract to avoid these illegal alterations.

Long-distance move from Ontario to British Columbia

Avoid at all cost

I would avoid using AMS Transportation Services at all costs.

it was only after going through things days after unpacking we noticed stolen items.

We tipped the three guys a $100.00 cash each and provided refreshments, I'm pretty sure it was the driver on the BC leg that stole things as we moved from Ontario. He also told me also he doesn't adhere to clocking on and off as a professional driver and told me he puts down he is visiting a friend but really doing deliveries.

Deception and fraud.

We contracted with Relocation Services Global (RSG) for our move from the San Diego, CA area to the Toronto, Canada area.  Jim Dixon was our contact at RSG.   RSG has a website that professes that they are the largest international moving service, and among other things says.
