Long-distance move from Conroe, TX to Dunellen, NJ

100% DO NOT RECOMMEND.

100% DO NOT RECOMMEND. My move was quoted at $2970.00. I paid a $1039.00 for a deposit on the 20th June 2022 for moving services. On the 21st, they sent me a list with everything I was going to be moving and while I was boarding my flight, Jeannette Carter from customer service called me and I realized that my wall pictures and a floor lamp were not included on the list. She said that would be an additional $500+ and I was shocked. She asked for authorization to charge the card on file to which I declined. She then said they can give me a discount which will be about $395.00. instead of the $500+ to be added to the $1039.00 I already paid. I then told her, Jeanette Carter that I'll have to call her back after the plane landed because I was getting ready for takeoff. I called back but didn't get an answer. The next morning, 22nd June, still no answer, so I left a message. I then reached out to a local company who had a better offer, so when Jeannette finally called me back a few hours later I told her I wanted to cancel with them. She then said I have to send an email because they don't do verbal cancellations. They then replied to the email I sent and said my deposit is nonrefundable after 72hrs of payment and that they're a broker company and the nonrefundable fee goes to them trying to locate a moving company. I then called this morning and she repeated the same message and said I'm not getting my $1039.00 back. How can you keep $1039.00 for services you never provided? I was still within the 72hrs of cancellation. Like who can I talk to to get my money back? I work too hard for the little that I have and I have a child on the way. This company is an absolute fraud! I need my money back, all of it!

Long-distance move from New Orleans, LA to Houston, TX

Terrible Company with Abysmal Customer Service

This was the worst moving experience that I've ever had. I chose AMS for a couple of reasons – 1) They promised that the move was inclusive of most charges, absent my underestimating my items, and 2) they only hire A-rated companies. Neither of these things was true. They hired an F-rated company, which hired another F-rated company. Reviews indicate that both companies are notorious for finding extra cubic feet and for delivering stuff late, damaged or not at all.

I chose the moving date of June 29 because AMS told me that since my move was 377 miles, my things would be delivered in "one or two days" . When the movers arrived, they tried to get me to sign multiple incomplete documents. The driver literally shoved them in my face 3 times and made it perfectly clear that they weren’t doing anything until they were signed. As I informed AMS, they dropped my TV while still in my apartment from the top of a 6-foot pile of boxes. They also, apparently because they didn’t want to reopen the truck, stuck my onto the back of the truck. At the end of the move, the movers had magically found an extra 400 cubic feet, and in essence, doubled the price of my move. My box count was correct, and the only thing that I forgot was my elliptical (it’s not a big one), and we had left some wiggle room of several cubic feet when AMS did my final inventory check. At that point, I had no choice but to pay because they had my stuff. I informed AMS about these issues.

After being promised delivery several times and several no-shows, my things arrived 16 days later and were severely damaged. I had informed AMS several times that my things were late; I was told that they had 14 days to deliver and called a liar when I said that I was promised my things in 2 days. Also, regarding my TV, I was told "it wasn't like they threw it to the ground on purpose, did they?"

That was typical of my customer service experience. They are extremely unprofessional. I requested money back, as I certainly did not get what I paid for. Nothing.

Long-distance move from Freeport, TX to Dingmans Ferry, PA

Do not hire this company

First off, they are a broker not a moving co. They hired Ideal Moving for my move from Tx. to Pa. And yes, Ideal Moving jacked the move cost up $4000. on move day. On delivery day they off loaded the semi and I unpacked everything. I now have a list of 24 items damaged or totally destroyed. The worst was my wife's Moms antique curved stainglass lamp shade. What really chapped my A-- was two of my prized fishing rods had the tips broken off. Part of the problem was that Ideal moving took all my stuff to a warehouse in Dallas, off loaded everything then waited for an available semi to load and make the trip to Pa. Please go with an actual moving company for your move.

Long-distance move from Louisiana to Kansas

Total Con Artists

We reached out to this company to do a move for us. From New Orleans to Kansas. We confirmed the estimate twice , did multiple virtual walks, gave a complete list of items, very straight forward, $13k. They subcontracted the job out, and the crew that showed up said they wouldnt move it unless we agreed to pay $34K. We compared the quote to what they had and it was exact. they came back to us with 6 different quotes going down to $18k. Then when American Moving Solutions canceled the move, the crew came back with another offer. Total con job looking to take advantage of us on the day of the move. there was absolutely no reason for this. Beware that the contract you sign only protects them, and they contract with Con Artists. It would be zero starts if this allowed that.

Please Read entire review...There are no scores for them if you have any human emotions left after you get through with them you will be lucky. They will take you to a place you have never been before then laugh at you when your there. Here is how it works they take your money to call another moving company to pick up your stuff then you pay the movers when they get there. [NAME EDIT] and there customer specialist [NAME EDIT] they will call you every Day until they get your payment then good luck getting ahold of them. Trust me if you do its because they slipped up and picked up the phone thinking I was someone else. Louann is the only person that will return your call and she is the venting person, poor lady she says she passes on the information to Eric and Larry but they never call ever.

This is a bad company they say they have 5 star reviews B S. Its there own rating if you get caught up with them good luck you will just pay them to do what you can do just call the movers yourself. Why pay them 1000- 1500 bucks to just do your inventory and really that's all they do. don't forget the bed rail and frame scam too. that's a good one after you get everything on the list another person calls you [NAME EDIT] and asks if your beds have a frame and side rails. (really ) they charged me another 500 dollars for two bed frames and side rails. The whole thing is a scam you can do this yourself don't get caught up with theses people. Again these are bad people and this is a scam to get your money to do the same thing you can do. just call a moving company not a bunch of scammers like these guys are.I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau of FLA. for there pitifully poor business practices.

American Moving Solutions is a Fraud Company

This company is a fraud company, do not go with them

They estimate way less than actual space and we have sent all pictures of bulky items and dimensions of all major furniture.

The boxes were accurate.

In total they had 4 review calls and i had shared all the pics and all bulky items.

When the movers arrived they estimated 75% more i.e.724 cu.ft

and demanded $7000 more than the actual estimate.

Do not trust this company and people like Randy, Eric and other QA folks may talk nicely to earn your business and get the deposit.

It will be a bummer.

The worst of all is their General Manager Janet - She is the manager as of Aug 19 2022.

So arrogant and to cover their teams mistakes would blame us and not let us to talk.

We negotiated to pay $3000, which was still unreasonable, but we were ok to pay so the move could happen. But Janet the manager is the most arrogant and we had to cancel.

DO NOT GO WITH AMERICAN MOVING SOLUTIONS.

Long-distance move from Somerset, KY to Fort Worth, TX

Beware of American Moving Solutions

Earlier this year I contacted a few moving companies and selected American Moving Solutions (AMS) to handle my move from Kentucky to Texas. I spoke with “Stacy”. She was very good to work with and played a major role in why I selected this company even though her estimated cost was slightly higher than some of the others. All our conversations regarding the move were over the telephone. We went over household contents room by room and she compiled lists of contents, and she estimated cubic feet and estimated cost of my move. The original estimate was roughly $6,000 and included 30 days of storage enroute from Kentucky to Texas which I was told would be at no added cost to me. AMS contacted me 2 or 3 times prior to picking up my household goods and some further revisions were made to the estimated cost based on additional items identified that should have been included, like an added cost because an item was extra heavy, and additional costs for packing, etc.

Also, there was an extra charge of $500 added for the unloading and reloading of my items at the storage facility. After several attempts to talk to someone about this added charge I was allowed to talk to someone called Jeanette. She would not even discuss the issue and said it didn't matter that AMS told me there was no added cost for 30 days of storage. She said the storage facility charged $500 and if I wanted to have my goods stored, I'd have to pay the $500. And in addition, I had to pay the $500 that very day! At this point I was becoming quite concerned about all the changes, and my estimated cost had gone up from a little over $6,000 to $9,400. Unfortunately for me, this was far from the end result.

The movers came with a truck size based on AMS cubic foot estimate which should have been adequate for the move. It became obvious the truck was not adequate to handle the move. The moving company had to send a semi to the area and transfer my goods from the original truck they sent and then return the next day to load the rest of my goods. During all this fiasco, the cubic ft of my move was increased over the AMS estimate and my final cost went up from $9.400 to $18,457. I tried and tried over the summer months to make contact with AMS to try to get some kind of reasonable monetary relief for their gross mis-estimate of the cost of my move. It is most disturbing that NOT ONE customer care person would return my calls, even after I was told they would. I was stonewalled time after time and for the most part unable to get a human being on the phone - only automated messages. I got innuendos that it was the mover’s fault that the cost was so far off and I should talk to them. In addition, there was an innuendo that I must have lied about what was included in the move. I answered honestly all the questions asked about my household goods. I also provided a link to my real estate company which showed pictures of furniture and other household items in every room in my house. AMS is the “expert” in estimating the size and extent of moves, not the individuals who are moving and have never moved before. Also, it seems odd that AMS does not send anyone to a house to physically look it over. This was a very disturbing and disheartening experience. All I’d hear from AMS is that I should have done something different or I should contact the movers because they are the ones who charged me more. At no time did AMS step up and admit they made a mistake and would do something to make it right.

AMS raves about their 5-Star reviews but you don't see m them out there. The customer service I received doesn’t even deserve 1-Star. Over several months of trying to make contact with AMS, I received NO response whatsoever until finally, a human named ”Bill” contacted me and stated someone would get back to me on a specific day and between the hours of 2-4 pm EST. Not once did that person or any person contact me. I have also reached out to the President/CEO of AMS and received no response. This is not 5-Star customer service. Based on what has happened I firmly believe American Moving Solutions has never had any intention to even discuss or address my concerns. For all I know, they probably feel good that their customer service department has successfully stonewalled another unhappy customer they grossly misrepresented.

The only means of satisfaction or piece of mind I am left with will be to file complaints with Attorney Generals' offices in Florida, Texas, and Kentucky, as well as the Better Business Bureau. And also write as many 1-Star reviews of AMS as I can find outlining what a bad experience I had and how I was treated after AMS made such a gross error estimating the cost of my move and then was unwilling to admit to their error and was unwilling to take any action to rectify it.

Do Not Hire American Moving Solutions

I called this company and received quote over the phone and signed and "Estimate." The company "estimates" the amount of cubic feet you will need for your move by asking questions about items in your home. I went from room to room giving exact dimensions, length x width x height, of all my boxes and furniture. American Moving Solutions came up with the number: 410 cubic feet, for about $3300. Great, much cheaper than Uhaul and PODS. Before the move, they check in to see if you have any other items to add on, and also, there seems to be a problem with the dimensions of my sofa, telling me someone didn't record it. I give the exact dimensions again, now my "Estimate" is 900 cubic feet for $7200. I added a few more boxes and they corrected the "mistake" on my sofa, but how did the cubic feet double in size, going from 410 to 900 cubic feet? Through this whole process, I was signing "Estimates" and giving deposit money.

I called before the day of the move, questioning the higher estimate, and was told not to worry, it's hard to know how much cubic feet would actually be needed until the truck was loaded. On the day of the move, the movers showed up, and they are not from American Moving Solutions, they were a local moving company. I was not aware I had been dealing with a middle man/moving broker. Also, the higher estimate for $7200 was not an "estimate" at all, it was a binding contract that I had signed, and I was required to pay that amount. I was led to believe my 2 estimates were actually estimates - they were not. I had signed these documents with the word "ESTIMATE" in the title, but did not read all the fine print. It was a contract. I went back and forth with them on the phone, they kept telling me I signed the agreement, what's the problem? The problem is: I signed up initially for a estimated $3300 move and then signed an estimated $7200 move, thinking the price would be somewhere in the middle, most definitely closer to the $3300 estimate because I only added a few more boxes.

I got scammed, these were not estimates, they were contracts. And it was a bait and switch tactic concerning the amount of cubic space needed, and it happened on the first phone call: I gave dimensions of everything in my home, and they told me it added up to 410 cubic feet, knowing that most people would not question that number because we do not realize what 410 cubic feet looks like in reality. Do you know what 410 cubic feet looks like? Turns out to be about equal to the volume of space in 1/2 of a small bedroom, floor to ceiling. There's no way everything my home could fit into that small space! They knew I needed 900 cubic feet because I gave them exact measurements, but they quoted me 410 cubic feet, knowing that most normal people have no idea what 410 cubic feet looks like.

They lied on purpose, they knew I really needed 900 cubic feet, and I would not have signed up for a $7200 move, but I did sign up thinking it was just an "estimate." I could have got a PODS for $4500. They lowballed the cubic feet by half telling me I only need 410 cubic feet, and gave me an initial lowball estimate of $3200. On a later call, claiming there was a problem with my sofa, and me adding a few more boxes, the second estimate more than doubled in size, which I knew could not be correct, but I thought it was just an estimate, and I was told everything would work out on the day of the move when it was loaded onto the truck.

I could not get my deposits back, and now it was the day of the move, so I ended up paying the $7200. My belongings were not even worth $7200, but the alternative was to stop, lose $2400 in deposits and start the whole moving process over with a different mover. I could have paid for PODS cheaper, I could have done UHaul cheaper, but they got me with the first low-ball quote, and I put down a deposit.

My advice: do the move yourself, rent a truck and drive it yourself. Or, if the cost to move is more than what your furniture is worth, it makes financial sense to throw your stuff in the trash, and use the money these scammers get to buy yourself some new furniture in your new city.
