American Long Distance Moving and Storage

Hi all. I will never recommend trusting on this company and scheduling any service with them. They are the worst I will say. You will not have your stuff moved in time and receive on time. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING WITH THEM.

I am sharing my story with you all so that you do not fall into trouble as we did.

I want to share my experience with this company in short with you.

May 12th 2021, I had made my booking with American Ling distance moving and storage as I had to move to Austin from LA.

I had paid all my deposit and per our agreement the movers were supposed to come and pick up our stuff on July 22nd and/ or 23rd latest.

We were going to leave for Austin the next day that is July 24th and had a good road trip planned.

Week of 12th of July we started calling them to follow up to check if the pick up way on time as we never got a call from them to confirm their arrival time. We never got any responses to our calls.

On July 22nd, we got a call from them at 3.30 pm PST that they were not able to come the day as planned. It was a shocker for us as we were not understanding how we were supposed to move ahead.

The reason they gave was that their truck broke down and could not make it the next day( which was so unclear to us as we expected them to make an arrangement for the next day like a back up plan thinking how they can just let their customers get stuck due to no contingency plan from their end)

I couldn't catch the name of the lady I spoke to but we requested Her to try to book something for the next day 23rd at least as we had a 2 day tentative pickup. But they had no arrangements for us and were not helping us out in any way.

In fact out of no where she recommended us to cancel our booking and go with some other company. Now at this point if we opted for another company that would be so expensive for us and the amount others were offering us for a next day pickup was way higher than our budget.

My wife called them again to request them to make some arrangements for us as we were counting on them to be on time. She spoke to a man named "Sam", she explained him the entire situation and requested him to talk to the manager so that is the customer service wears unable to help, we could possibly speak to the manager as we were on a schedule as our apartment lease deadline was on 25th July and if before that our stuff was not taken out we had no place to keep our stuff.

Sam was not coorpertaive and when asked to put us on. Ahold to talk to the manager he literally without us completely our sentence switched the called and out us on the waiting line, we waiting for 50 minutes to talk to the manager but we're not able to make it through and had to hang up at the end.

In a panicked situation we called them back again. This time we spoke to Britney, we explained her the situation and what she had to at was that their company is not responsible for when the truck will arrive. I don't understand if we are making all the payments and spoke to them way before the actual pickup date there is no help from them

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2500

Do not use American Long Distance Moving! They will give you a quote and when they pick up your things they will load about half of your worldly possessions, stop loading and claim that they've exceeded the square feet in the truck you've paid for. And there you are, leave your half of possessions or pay thousands extra. They lied about the square footage we used but we were committed by then and had to move. It's an effective scam.

They implied our furniture would get to their destination(about a thousand miles away) in about a week. It took over three weeks. At one point, when we called, they said our stuff was in storage waiting to go west, but if we paid them an additional $5,000 they'd deliver it all right away! Our stuff was being held hostage!

In the end, our things showed up late and so many objects were broken. A carefully-packed antique clock with "fragile" written all over the box, dishes, an antique chair, even the lawnmower! All broken and of course they're not going to compensate us for anything. Avoid these terrible movers!

The 1st sales guy sounded nice and honest so I took a chance. Wrong thing to do!!! I sent him pic's of all stuff in one spot ready to move so I had a pretty good idea of the cubic feet needed. The $1800 down payment came from my checking. Bad decision! They're holding my money hostage. I was uncomfortable with the limited summary of contents he listed within the bill. I sent the sales rep a detailed contents list along with the ACTUAL weight a along with an added table and bench a week later (I bought an industrial scale). He said the estimate would change but would not know until 24 hours before the scheduled pick up date. (I gave him the list 2 weeks before the move). The move went up approximately $2300 so I wanted to cancel. He said they would keep my $1800 down unless I provided another $1200 down that must be wired, I was on the hook and desperate to be moved as scheduled on 10/27. I went against my instincts and sent it. 10/27, 10/28, 10/29. No movers. No calls. I called them many times. Contract in email disappears online saying "congratulation on your move" My next agent told me the truck had broken down and I wanted a copy of the email regarding the bad truck. She would not comply. Wanted me to sign a new contract with new moving date. Didn't want to do it but did anyway because I was on the hook. New moving date of Monday Nov 1st 2021. No calls, No movers. What a scam!!! Nothing but corrupt liars. Now I'm stuck filing complaints with the FMCSA, writing a review and filing a claim in small claims court. Is there an attorney filing a class action against this company? I want in!

This company is a Rip off .Paid this Company 1819.29 down to move me to Texas.Told me to pay 910.00 at pick up and 910.00 at delivery.And then came back and asked me for 500.00 more dollars.When the truck got there 4hours late.they told me that i could not take my bed .ends tables ,75 inch TV or dresser that it would be extra .The TV would be 200.00 ,dresser extra.And did not look at my other stuff.Tried to pull up the list that i had gave the broker to show the driver the list had been deleted.Drive started talking loud and disrespectful son asked him not to talk to my mother like that drive got mad and left.So if you don't want to get ripped off don't use this company. Deleted my list of of items i gave them.

If I could give this company zero stars I would. Absolute joke of a "company". Do NOT use them. Scammers. The sales person was never heard from again after we paid the first installment. Got a call 3 days before the move asking about our "estimated" pick up day. We were never told it was estimated, we were told it was a SOLID pick up day. Also asked for MORE money 3 days before the move. Disgusting. I don't know how these people sleep at night. We ended up cancelling because we did not want to risk them not showing up on our designated move out day (we live in an apartment and had to be out by the 30th), rented a uhaul and drove our stuff to our new home by ourselves! Called them to tell them how horrible this was and they hung up on us. So gross, please please spend your money elsewhere. Read the reviews and do not give them any of your money.
